Our second visit in less than a week. Marissa was our server and was potentially the most friendly and competent server I have ever had ANYWHERE.. We had the calamari which was cooked 'just right'. My Burger was also quite tasty and my wife enjoyed her salad and loved the crab cakes. I only drank here this weekend, but the cocktails were memorable. The Performance Enhancer Drank was outstanding even when I subbed in vodka for tequila as it is offered on the menu. The service was outstanding and accommodating to our interests, which I really appreciated. read more

I'm so glad we decided to try out The Vig for an office happy hour -- the GM, Don, was beyond accommodating. Our server was extremely attentive and made sure no one had an empty glass for long! They set up a few high tops and put some snacks out for us. If I had to describe the popcorn & chips in one word: ADDICTING. There were cocktails flowing all night. Their mixed drinks were delicious & they have a nice selection of beer and wine. We ordered the wings which were tasty. As far as the rest of the menu, I can't speak on it because we didn't order entrees but I have no doubt it would be delicious. We will definitely be back for another happy hour soon! read more

Nice place to watch a game if you're staying at the Hilton; they have several large TV's. The breakfast and beer list leaves much to be desired but the dinner menu is good. Service is super friendly and it's nice, clean, and quick. read more

Great food and strong, flavorful cocktails. Upscale, vintage lounge type of atmosphere (& great music - classic rock!) Can't really go terribly wrong here... only thing I didn't end up liking was the calamari (for the breading and lack of traditional cherry peppers - The Vig does more of a cornmeal breading situation with a spicy, pickled bell pepper medley). Pro tip for those who don't eat pork but would like to try the fish & chips: sub out the andouille dipping sauce for the crab tartar sauce traditionally served with the calamari. read more

Incredible customer service! One of the staff came up to a veteran sitting alone a table down from us and after thanking him and engaging in conversation throughout the night he bought the mans meal. Small gestures go a long way. I will definitely be returning now knowing the caliber of staff The Vig employs. I've never experienced a sports bar with better service or food! MADISON and SARA have been tremendous this week. I've had a couple of awesome cheese boards, Thistle Hill cheddar from VT and Four Fat Fowl from NY, a fantastic burger with house made Pub cheese and tonight Prosciutto wrapped wings. It's AFC Championship night and the Patriots are playing. They have one bar maid who also has to serve all the bar tops, all the while the manager stands around looking stupid. Can't get service and the NE Clam Chowder came out barely warm. Don't go there if you are looking for a hot meal and a cold drink! read more

Once or twice a month my two girlfriends and I have a girls night out for dinner at a restaurant that we want to try. We take turns choosing, so when one of my friends chose The Vig, my first thought was "a sports bar at a hotel?" It seemed an odd choice but at least I knew the company would be great. We arrived on Friday at 7:30. The restaurant was full and we were told there would be a 10 minute wait. About 5 minutes later the manager, Don came to the bar to bring us to our table. He apologized for the "long" wait and placed a bowl of the most addictive bar snack I've ever had in the center of the table for us to share. Bacon caramel popcorn?!?! Ok, now you have my attention. He told us that because the servers were busy that he would be taking care of us tonight. We were so glad he did! The service was excellent. Better than I have had in any sports bar, or any other restaurant we've visited in a long while. Now the food. We started with a chopped kale and romaine salad for the vegetarian in the group. She loved it. My other friend and I decided to share the crab cakes. Without our asking he had the chef split it for us. It was served with corn succotash and lobster butter, it was the best crab cake I've ever tasted. For entrees we ordered the duck confit grilled cheese with Brie, the salmon and the black bean, kale and quinoa burger. The black bean burger was served with crushed avocado and a slightly spicy tomato jam. My vegetarian friend said it was the best version of a black bean burger she's ever had. The salmon, with gnocchi, shrimp, cherry tomatoes and a garlicy butter sauce was also fantastic. I had the duck confit grilled cheese. Now I see what the hype surrounding this sandwich has been about. Thick cut buttery toasted bread with tender duck, red onion marmalade and lots of melted Brie cheese. The manager brought a bottle of Pinot Noir to the table and said it paired great with the duck and offered a taste. Who am I to say no? LOL. Two glasses later I finished the whole sandwich. Too full for dessert, Don recommended we share one. He suggested the white chocolate banana cream pie with three spoons. After a server delivered our dessert he showed up with three small strawberry rhubarb ice cream sandwiches. Desserts were home spun American and really well done. I travel for business fairly often and always feel that hotel restaurants over promise and under deliver. The Vig did just the opposite. It was the best restaurant I've been to in or outside of a hotel in quite a while. We will definitely be back! read more

The fried chicken sandwich meal here is great! At $14 it is pretty pricey but that is to be expected at a hotel restaurant

Perhaps I hit on a bad night with PC game but it wasn't 'slammed'. Started off badly with hostess having no clue even tho an Open Table res was made. Just a lot of confusion. Seated in an alcove at what seemed like a folding table. Weak martini. Ordered food. Took almost an hour! Kept getting "assured" we were next. Burger was good but wolfed it down to get to game. Gotta say the side salad was excellent. Still, the black shirt/black tie manager was apologetic but had a bit of an attitude- bit of a wise guy. Comped the meal, tho. Handed us his bus card. Not sure why. After that experience there's a whole lotta places that can do MUCH better read more

My wife, younger son and I were in town to watch our older son play hockey at PC. Heard Vigs was a new place. Went there during Saturday's snow storm. Dropped off my wife so she could avoid walking in the storm. She called and said the place was packed due to a PC baseball reunion but the staff accommodated us with a great table . Which it was. Our waitress was Sarah - who was excellent. The manager was great and bantered back and forth with my thirteen yo about European futbol clubs as he had on a specific team jersey. Bottom line- the entire staff was super nice - but even better - attentive and highly professional. My younger son wanted to run to Starbucks which is below Vigs to get a hot chocolate . I told him to ask the waitress , whom overheard us, and she delivered a hot chocolate which my son said was the best . Ok the atmosphere was very loud due to the reunion but the vibe was laid back. Everyone was having fun. We met many people and it was a great experience. Now for the food. My wife ordered the homemade veggie burger and a side salad. The burger was the best she ever had and the salad crisp and fresh. My son and I had the burger and have to say, ever try to agree with a 13 yo ? Well we did and this was the best burger we ever had - we had different toppings. He had the fries which were excellent and I the salad - same thumbs up as my wife . Wanted to give this place a try since it was new, but unfortunately was not very impressed. Menu so far is limited, and portion sizes are subpar for a sport bar type restaurant that this place sports. Most of the people inside were at the bar, not in the restaurant portion. I ordered the chicken and biscuits, which was underwhelming. Wouldn't recommend. Chicken was bone in (really?) which is not really standard for this dish. Chicken ended up coming out slime like and purple. "Biscuits" were anything but - looking like small medallions, at that. Service was overall nice, staff was friendly, but I wouldn't return. Suited manager-like guy was pacing the floor, on and off his phone projecting a "big shot" vibe. With that level of confidence in subpar food, this place will wind up being just another bar. read more

Wait staff was nice, hence an extra star. But the food....meh. Dinner is $15 food with a $40 price tag. Breakfast is $18 for a couple eggs, couple pieces of bacon, and piece of toast. Do yourself a favor and walk two blocks to the mall to eat. You'll be happier. read more

Unfortunately, we were forced to move by the same hostess that told us first come first serve for people who just walked through the door...Clearly their business was more important than ours! read more

We just went to the Vig yesterday after Providence College graduation - it was a busy time and we came with a big group that was looking for a quick and delicious lunch. Recently our family stayed at this Hilton with 8 small grandchildren under the age of 8. The staff at The Vig was so wonderful helping us with the children. We were excited to try a new spot, and I really wanted to give this more stars, but the fact that I feel like someone pick-pocketed me makes it impossible. The decor is nice. The server Andrew was on point, friendly and attentive. The food was OK. Not bad, not great. The beers were cold, but I ordered a Heineken on draft and it was NOT Heineken. To make sure there was no issue, Andrew was smart enough to bring me bottled the next round, which of course is more expensive. The biggest problem with this place is that for an "ok" average fish & chips it was $18. That's not too bad for a price until you consider the fact that you get two pieces of fish that are only slightly larger than a fish sticks!!! My employee cafeteria gives you 4 times more fish & chips than I got here for $18!!!! In fact a Filet-o-Fish from McDonald's actually is more fish!!! With the tip (a little over 20% cause Andrew was solid) the bill was $80 plus $5 to park and I'm going home STARVING! read more

On a Thursday night for a Evening show, stopped in for a bite to eat, Atmosphere was good, Cleanliness was great, but the food was not worth the money, poor portions in what you were paying for, the menu had a poor selection of offerings, too expensive for the amount of food you get, I will not come back to that place ever again, and I will tell my friends about this place and tell them not to go out to eat at your restaurant. Needs lots of work on what people want . Service was fast, because it did not take the time to cook the Bar type food they have. Could have gone to Wendy's and saved money..... read more
