Order your drink but pass on the food. This establishment is mainly a coffee shop and not really equipped to serve any substantial lunch or dinner options. Sure it may be able to toast a bagel or give you a muffin but if you want a decent warm meal I would recommend you make it at home first. We only had our poorly made lunch here due to the fact that this was the only establishment in Wrightwood that would allow our dog on the patio (for you fur parents they do require that your fur child be on a leash and cannot bark). There was only one person on staff when we came and she was responsible for taking orders, making drinks and the sandwiches. She was clearly overworked and overwhelmed and looked on the brink of crying. After ordering was told that it would take a while for our sandwiches to make because she had multiple orders ahead, I just requested to have a glass of water for my thirsty husband. The employee couldn't even take a moment to pour a glass of water and instead told me that she was too busy to do that at the moment. Finally two of the three lunches arrived and it was a sorry sight. It looks like they make their sandwiches with a George Foreman grill and it wasn't tasty at all. What was even more pathetic was the fact that they serve the sandwich with maybe 5-6 sorry pieces of dried baby carrots with a side of ranch sauce. Since my dad was hungry I told him to go ahead and eat and was positive that my husband's sandwich would be coming shortly. To our surprise no sandwich ever came! I went back in to inquire about the missing sandwich and they never ever made it. Eventually the sandwich did make its way to my husband and the next employee (not the initial distraught employee) was kind and actually gave a complimentary cream cheese lemon bar to make up for the missing sandwich. For the price of the sandwiches and the dorm like quality it was ... please pass! I know Wrigtwood is a quaint town and very small and I don't expect anything fancy but I do expect something to match the price points. read more

Very cute coffee shop in this little town of Wrightwood. They open early enough so that I can get my cup of joe before heading to Mt High. The staff is always super nice and the coffee is delicious. It's self serve and they usually have a variety of flavors to choose from. To refill your own mug is $2.00 which is a little steep but again, your options are limited within miles from here. They offer free wifi and have just a few table seating available inside but more outside on the patio. Apparently they offer wine here as well but I have never tried it. Never tried their food either but the BF had their breakfast burrito here once and wasn't too impressed. I just come here for the coffee anyway :) read more

Maybe I'm biased since my parents own this place....well, they're not actually my parents, but they seem to treat me like their own kid (yeah they yell at me sometimes, but typically they spoil me rotten), so forgive my confusion....now where was I? oh yeah, I was on monday...right? Seems like every single day you come in here, there's a different special (oatmeal for a buck, 1/2 price blended drink, wine special in the evening), and it's always scrumptious. I'm pretty sure I've at at least two dozen wraps here, and every time it's basically amazing. Coffee? always at least three diff choices of fresh brew, plus some damn tasty espresso choices. now, to the ambiance. Warm & sunny? then sit outside on the patio and enjoy the fact that you're only an hr from LA....but you're a world away at the same time. Cold and snowy? sit inside and stay toasty w/ a hot chocolate, and waste some time on their WiFi...forgot your laptop? don't worry, they'll let you use their own, no prob. Cool place to visit in Wrightwood. Came here with a friend after a long morning of skiing and loved it! Coffee, food, and beer/wine if you want it?! Have not seen this kind of a place anywhere in the IE. This is Wrightwood's finest. The menu was extensive and we were impressed by the many options. I ordered a breakfast burrito and an iced coffee - it was delicious. This is the perfect place to come on a cold winter day after skiing ....or any day! It is small, but that is part of the fun! The worker was friendly too...although he did start telling us some awkward personal info...he was just being friendly and conversational I guess. I can only speak for the beer selection and the owner... both of which were very nice! Cute and clean little cafe, nice patio, and incredibly friendly staff. This little place helped to ease the pain of leaving our little camper up in Wrightwood for the week. A beer and a pleasant conversation with the owner did the trick. read more

Upon arrival it was difficult to see if the business was open, likely due to its tucked away location and the lack of lighting coming from within the business. Once walking inside the service counter and the area behind it was cluttered and uncleaned (revealing poorly covered rusty pipes protruding from the wall). Dreary and poor lighting created a undelightful atmosphere. The service was slow. We had ordered a chai that tasted like "soap" (likely due to the powder mix they use) and was overly sweet. All in all it took 15 minutes to recieve a chai, tea bagged tea, and a prewrapped muffin. P.S. For a cafe/bar there was no "bar" sitting arrangement, but in hindsight the concept of offering alcoholic beverages on a killer patio was awesome but that's all I'll give ya. read more

We frequently drive from Long Beach all the way to Wrightwood, just to visit this place. Coffee drinks are fantastic, but there's so so so much more to this place. The wine selection is such a surprise for such a small operation. It's true, quality over quantity. Each selection is unique and delicious. We always end up purchasing a few bottles. All the employees are friendly and helpful. Greg REALLY knows his wines! And he's nothing but a pleasure to talk with. We this place!!! read more

Staff is ridiculously nice and there is a distinctive small town feel to this place. They sell various HOMEMADE desserts along with those giant costco muffins. Self serve assortment of drip coffee is always fresh.They make all the bar espresso drinks and blended beverages like Starbucks has but all of the drinks I've tried are better than Starbucks. They also sell beer and wine! Make sure you try the food when you are there too. I really like the breakfast sandwich on sour dough bread or the hearty oatmeal. You won't be disappointed :) Only downside is they close around six I think but sometimes they are open later when they have local bands come and play on the deck outside. On our way to hike Mt. Baden-Powell/Big Horn Mine, I stopped here for a coffee. The town of Wrightwood is adorable and this little cafe is too. They have freshly made baked goods (not made in too large of a batch though) throughout the day. I was able to walk in, grab a cup for coffee, and pay cash like a local. Like most of these small town shops, they also offer beer and do wine tastings. They have outdoor patio seating and wi-fi too. Great place to relax. read more

Stopped here while taking the family sledding. Small eclectic coffee house, the way they should be. Friendly and smart service. They knew to ask if the hot chocolate I ordered would be for a kid so they would make it the right temperature. I also ordered a regular coffee and once I tasted it i had to turn around and tell them how great it tasted. (which I dont remember ever doing for another coffee place) They let me know that those beans were just roasted the previous night. The Village Grind might be my new favorite place on Earth. The coffee is great, the people are relaxed, there's free reliable wifi, and the view from the dog-friendly patio looks straight out into the mountains. We found this place form all the great reviews on Yelp. After being pounded by wind at a local campground, we went into town for a momentary reprieve. It was the off-season, so there was nobody else in there. I wish I knew the woman's name, but she was extremely nice, and treated us like guests and not customers. I absolutely loved this cafe. They make fantastic food and drinks however the smoking is out of control. They set up an easy up for smokers outside but the smoke still floats up to the deck/patio area and you are still affected by the smoke. There Re signs all over the deck saying no smoking, but that didn't stop anyone as at least 3 different people just sat right down on the deck and lit up the Or cigarettes . I drove 30 mins to come just for coffee and fresh mountain air and I had to leave because I just couldn't handle the smell of cigarettes and just could not breathe. Super disappointed as this is a favorite coffee shop of mine and it kind of ruined my coffee experience as well as makes me not want to come back for future days off. read more

I stopped in tonight at the invitation of a friend celebrating her birthday. The place was packed and there was a small four piece band in the corner who turned out tobe very entertaining and good. Greg, the owner quickly brought in a chair for me and Linda offered some wine for tasting. The quaint shop has am artsy decor; paintings by locals, photos of the PCT hikers that have stopped in and free wifi. There are some great sandwiches; I know because I've been there many times for lunch, and the breakfast burritos are quite good as well. When the weather is nice music is performed on the deck, allowing you to enjoy your food or dirink in the nice mountain air. Definately a place worth checking out! read more

Really the ONLY place to get coffee in Wrightwood. Well, that's not true, there are other places to go in Wrightwood for coffee, but why? The Village Grind has it all: Good coffee, nice sandwiches, wraps, and specials! But what they have that no one else in Wrightwood has is wine tasting! The owner, Greg, knows his stuff. I'm not a wine drinker, preferring beer myself, but Greg makes it fun and will tailor a tasting just for your palette. Not only do Greg and Linda pour their heart into their little business, but the other customers you will meet on the patio are friendly, too. And speaking of the patio, you never know what entertainment is going to show up and perform for you! Wrightwood, it seems, is a place where people who never really "made it" in Hollywood come to die...and this isn't a bad thing, believe me. There is a near "Bohemian" atmosphere where local talent come to play on the Village Grind patio while you sip your wine and/or coffee. This entertainment runs from "interesting" to "WOW." You never know what you are going to get, and that is part of the fun! Being a "local" I like that we have a nice, friendly watering hole that's not dingy and overpriced like some other Wrightwood eateries more popular with the tourists. Tourists and locals alike find the Village Grind to be a great place to spend an afternoon. Finally, the patio at the Village Grind is pet-friendly. It is not unusual to see others sitting with their four-legged friends enjoying the atmosphere, food, and drink. If I had to complain about something, the complaints would be this: 1. They should expand the wine-tasting and wine-tasting menu to days and times the owners are not present. More than once I stopped in for some wine tasting and associated appetizers only to be told to "come back later" when the owners are there. Hopefully, this will change as their business grows. 2. I wish they could expand in area to provide more inside seating, too. This is not the fault of Greg and Linda, but just an unfortunate circumstance of available space. Suffice it to say, Greg and Linda pack a LOT of fun and adventure into the area they do have. If you are in town for a weekend, stop by the Village Grind! You will not be disappointed! read more

Stop by this joint after searching for a photo shoot location, mountain cafe style coffee shop, variety menu and drink they also do wine tasting and live music. Somewhat pricy a cub size which is 12 ounces for $4 I'm not sure it's worth that much but it tasted ok! Also had an award winning chili that was good!! My family and I are from Utah and we are out here visiting family. We stumbled upon this coffee shop while searching the internet, saw it had good reviews so we thought we would give it a shot. The village grind is such a fun experience, we got there pretty early in the morning and our barista, Steven, was super stoked to be there. We had a pretty big drink order and on top of that we got a couple of goodies. Steven was so on top of everything, double checked with us our drink order so he didn't miss anything.
