Ok so we made a reservation and arrived about 20 minutes early. The place was "maybe" 1/3 full. But God forbid we be seated. Nope- they made is wait until our actual tome although not a single soul walked in after us and we could see 5 wait staff just standing and waiting for action. (This also happened last time we came). Once seated, we had outstanding service and a really good meal. It is a tad overpriced but the ambiance does make it nice. Brunch on Sundays can't go wrong, better than the buffet at Pachenga Casino Resort not to far from here. But, this whole no region has many places to sample and enjoy the vineyards. I like this place is very open, kinda romantic, a bit dimmed setting but I really like it. The sandwiches, salmons lunch offerings were great! Will be dining here more often! This was actually a bit of a frustrating experience. We had a table for 10 and were seated on time. But as soon as we looked at the menu it because apparent this place was not for us today. Had been a few years ago and the menu was much less expensive with greater variety. On this night, 6 of the 10 actually decided to just have soup. The wait staff was slow wo we were there for what seemed like forever. The food was good, what people had, but terribly overpriced for what it was. This was my mom's choice for her birthday celebration and the brunch was fabulous! The view was beautiful - I definitely recommend outdoor dining. A live band was warming up down in the garden area. I ordered the Hot Brown because it sounded hearty. My waitress then told me it was the best thing on the menu. She wasn't lying! Delicious! The brioche really makes it. The winner was probably the banana foster pancakes. The flatbread pizza was also good for an appetizer. The burgers, fries and everything else was definitely just average. Came here for our anniversary dinner. I had made reservations but we ended up finishing wine tasting early and the staff accommodated us walking in nearly an hour earlier. We asked to be seated outside and it was amazing. There was a beautiful wedding reception outside so we had wonderful live music and watched a new couple celebrate with their loved ones. The food was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. Our server Mark and assistant Hannah were responsive and on point, and we were able to select a complimentary dessert. Sorry!! This review has been sitting in DRAFT since February! Just saw that right now! So although it is outdated, I still feel it's necessary to recognize this establishment and wonderful staff! Where do I begin?! On Wednesday February 21st, my husband and I had the absolute most enjoyable and fantastic time dining here! We checked into our lovely casita with vineyard view for my birthday and mini staycation, then headed over to the bar for a quick intermezzo and cocktails. We were promptly greeted and seated. Matthew, who was tending bar, treated us like VIP's. Really attentive and personable. He was so knowledgeable and made some outstanding suggestions for dinner, as we had 7:00 dinner reservations. Made us feel like we were regulars, when in fact, this was our first time visiting, even though we pass this establishment numerous times a week as we live 5 minutes away! Our first experience was the hummus plate. WOW! What a delightful mix of fresh veggies, pita and yummy hummus. It was a visual masterpiece. My husband enjoyed his generous pour of tequila neatly and I savored my gin martini extra dirty. Matthew did not skimp at all! Really refreshing since most places are not very generous with their portions. We enjoyed chatting with our new friend and felt so comfortable and welcomed. Dinner was phenomenal. My husband ordered the lamb shank, which was a much appreciated suggestion by Matthew during intermezzo. I had the Ribeye Asado. Medium rare. OMG!! You could cut this meat with a spoon...that is how tender it was! The flavors were unbelievable. A mix of chimichurri, roasted Japanese chili peppers, avocado and puréed black beans. The portion was incredibly satisfying...I even took about half of the meat back to my room to eat for a midnight snack! We ordered the Mediterranean salad, which at the suggestion of our amazing waiter, was split between the two of us. What a beautiful winery. It had must been my favorite because we went for breakfast and dinner. The scenery was lovely and the back patio was a picture perfect background . The spacious footprint provides multiple large sized booths - perfect for lap tops as well as dining. The Dinner menu features several delicious options- in particular the Schnitzel- served with a brilliantly prepared Red Cabbage is divine. The Parker House Rolls are served with soft, room temperature Plugra Butter with the slightest sprinkling of Maldon Salt. Excellent wine list for obvious reasons and the service is solidly consistent. Cindy is the server we most often request and her assistant Tami is swift, kind and defines the word Hospitality in Food Service & Hospitality. I made reservations here for my birthday on July 12. Worst service ever. I wish i had just stayed and snacked at the wineries. This restaurant ruin the ending. A table of 18, they only assigned one server that was obviously overwhelmed, don't forget I had made reservations week prior. Plenty of time to make arrangements. Restaurant overall was slow, total 4 tables including mine. We sat at 5:45pm, did not receive apps/dinner until 8:30pm. Once it arrived, we were all in a hurry to eat and leave because of our limo time. My food was not good (dont event remember what i ordered originally) , i sent it back and just ordered a side of shrimp. The shrimp was perfect. Drinks took forever to arrive. Barely a bus boy would come help the poor server. $200+ tip 1600 total bill i think. Management needs to prepare better. Also, seemed dead and quiet. No ambiance, no music, staff was no fun, no sense pf humor. They just looked stressed. Wish i could get my money back. Seriously thinking of calling my AMEX and complaining. No one liked their food. We stayed at this winery and had reservations here for an anniversary date. They were booked until late night but we didn't mind because we enjoyed a nap after an afternoon of wine tasting. We woke up not hungry at all but wanted to come out to try anyways. I'm so glad we didn't skip out because we would've missed a delicious meal. My steak was a bit chewy but the egg was magnificent. The flavors of the chard paired very well. The lamb was perfectly seasoned and cooked. We honestly thought about ordering a second order. The drinks were very aromatic and well-pieced. We wanted something different from all wine we had this weekend but I wish I paired my dinner with wine instead. Service was excellent. If you're staying at South Coast Winery definitely stop by to try the lamb. read more

Stayed at South Coast Winery Resort and opted for Sunday Brunch at their on-property restaurant, The Vineyard Rose. Made a reservation ahead of time, and thankfully I did, because they weren't seating anyone without them. We asked to be seated outside to enjoy the gorgeous views (and because the inside ambiance is more log cabin / steakhouse than vineyard brunch) and only had to wait a couple minutes for a table to be ready. We weren't drinking as we were driving home right after brunch. Perhaps if alcohol were involved this would have been a more enjoyable experience. Let's start by saying that service was slowwwww. I'm not clear as to whether they're understaffed or they're just used to serving drunk people who don't notice how long everything is taking. In any case, don't eat here if you're on any sort of time limit. I will say that the highlight of this experience was the charcuterie - it's everything a charcuterie plate should be - delicious, shareable and varied. The menu positions it as an appetizer for two, but honestly if everyone in your party is planning on getting an entree, you could easily share this amongst four people. I ordered the Caesar salad as my entree and regretted every bite. It's a large salad, but rather lackluster. Wishing I would have tried one of their breakfast options - they sounded more appetizing. After being disappointed with that my wife and I both received relatively poorly prepared meals with average service for a relatively expensive price. We have dined here before and always had. A wonderful experience, which is why we picked this restaurant for my birthday trip to Temecula. Sadly, the entire experience was unsatisfactory. There were 3 of us, we ordered the salmon, the lamb shanks and the seafood pasta. When the entrees were brought to the table, the runner had no idea who ordered what...even after we indicated our order, the plates were once again put down in front of the wrong person. Ordinarily this is not a big deal, but when the entrees are in the $40-$50 range and there are only 3 people at the table, a restaurant of this caliber should have gotten it right. Even though it's not a big deal it just started the meal on the wrong note and moving the plates around made the food cold. The pasta dish was served with a cream sauce or a red sauce. My husband selected the red sauce, but got the cream sauce. The salmon was served on polenta & a mushroom congee with squash. It looked like a big mess. There was no definition of flavors and with the exception of the salmon which was perched on top it seemed as though the chef made zero effort to plate the dish. In addition, the salmon was overcooked. Only the lamb shank was good, but again, cold. I will say that the server was pleasant and the deserts were very nice. read more

We have come here on many occasions. Grandmother's 90th birthday dinner (4 years ago), mother-in-law's birthday dinner (2 years ago) when we have company (lunch and/or dinner). The dinner menu was/is better than lunch (in my opinion). They have changed the menu. There used to be tomahawk steak. We came here for lunch to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday (9/21). We were a party of 11 (2 kids and 1 infant). The restaurant wasn't too crowded or busy. However, there were 2 events: a wedding and a bazaar/flea market. We had to park in the back and walk through the restaurant to get to the front. Their lunch menu is pretty medicore and does not have a great lunch selection. We ordered a bottle of wine, 3 appetizers (calamari, charcuterie, and seafood chevice), 4 prime rib cheesesteak sandwiches, 2 kid's meals (grilled cheese with fries), steak frites, 2 salmon brugers, and seafood linguini. Our server was nice but forgot our drinks. We asked for two half lemonade and water for the kids that never came until we inquired about it with our server (he said he forgot). Our meal didn't come out all at once. Only half came, and we had to wait a little bit before the other half of the food came out. When we got our food, we asked for ranch that didn't make it to our table. I tasted the prime rib cheesesteak (it was good), my steak frite was tender (nothing great), and the salmon burger was ok. The fries that came with our meals were lukewarm and tasted old. Our bill was roughly around $475 (with gratuity added). The ambiance is outdated and could use a face-lift. The restaurant is dark and dreary. The women's bathroom is so disgusting! I took my child to use the restroom. It was hot, muggy, and stunk beyond belief. I had to choose between smelling or tasting the stench. I have been to other wineries that have better ambiance, better food, sevice, and cleaner restrooms than this place. Don't waste your money coming here. I came yesterday for my fathers 76th birthday. Party of 9...came out to be about $300. Mimosa was not great but was good. I have the salad with nuts. It was great. The service was extremely slow. Good took about 45 min to come out. I would not return here since there was nothing that warranted spending so much money. Food was ok. Environment was ok too. Yesterday, my two of my girlfriends and I decided to go to your winery to wine taste. We had a wonderful time with Cliff as our pourer and then went to the Vineyard Rose to eat lunch there. Things were going well until our server, Janine, attempted to stealthily make a derogatory comment about one of my friends to another server. While my friend went to the restroom, she walked in on Janine telling another server that she looked like a porn star. This is completely inappropriate on the part of your staff. We did call her out and she gave us a lackluster apology in which she attempted to call that derogatory comment a "compliment." Again, I'm not sure in what context it's appropriate for one of your servers to comment on a patron's appearance in such a way. I'm also not sure in what contex it would be appropriate to call someone you don't know a "porn star." That incident completely tainted our afternoon. We were celebrating our other friend finishing nursing school, but were forced to be confronted with your server's rudeness instead. Is this acceptable behavior? Do you condone this? I used to be a member at South Coast, and I always had wonderful and pleasant experiences (which is why I recommended that we go to your winery to celebrate). However after this incident I'm not sure I would continue to recommend your winery if your servers are catty and rude. read more

My parent's moved to Temecula a few months ago and my mom had been dying to visit a winery. She isn't a big drinker overall, so my sister and I decided to take her one of the wineries that has brunch as well. After some research I narrowed it down to South Coast Winery or Ponte, and due to availability, The Vineyard Rose inside of South Coast was the winner. Originally I was bummed that Ponte was booked, but it worked out wonderfully because The Vineyard Rose was beautiful and the food delicious. Per my reservation request, we were seated outside near the railing which overlooks a lovely courtyard and a portion of their vineyards. There is even a horse drawn carriage that rolls along the dirt path near the vineyard, which we had a perfect view of. We each began brunch with a mimosa and made a cheer to the beautiful, sunny, Southern California day. They were delicious and smooth. For brunch, I decided to try the Chilaquiles: corn tortilla chips, drunken pinto beans, 2 eggs any style, salsa verde, queso fresco, green onions. I would have preferred black or refried beans, but the dish was otherwise perfect. The verde sauce was a mix of tart and spicy, the chips crunchy rather than soggy, and the eggs a nice scramble. The dish was quite large and I was only able to finish about 2/3 of it. Both my sister and my mom enjoyed their respective breakfast dishes as well. In fact, my mom liked the food and ambiance so much that she insisted that she needed to take my dad sometime. It isn't the cheapest breakfast, but I do think it's well worth it for a ladies brunch or date day. read more

I had talked to them about it a few months prior and decided not to go with the private room because they limited the menu so much. I had 12 people , 4 being kids. When we got there, I was dismayed to see the limited menu had been given out. I did speak to the manager and he allowed us to order off the regular menu. It was not crowded and it was a Saturday at 6 pm. We had one waitress and service was slow. I had to get children's menus, flag her down for drinks, appetizers, bread. She did uncork our wine from their sister vineyard Carter- that was good. Sadly, the food was mostly bad and poorly prepared. We ordered 3 tomahawk steaks. All were not cooked to order and the meat was chewy, grisly . One person did not get the potatoes and then sent the steak back for being raw. Took 15 minutes for them to get it back. One person got short ribs that were 100% fat. They sent that back too and ordered chicken instead. The filet and Ny steaks were tough and chewy. They didn't have steak sauce. The salads were average. When the bill came 3 hours later, I saw they had charged for the short ribs. The waitress forgot to take it off. I also paid for a salad that wasn't received. Our breakfast was not just "bad," it was inedible. This was perhaps the second time in my life that I sent food back to the kitchen at a restaurant, and it was the first time that I sent the food back twice and the third time it was still no good. I ordered a simple bagel, lox, and cream cheese from this exclusive resort restaurant. It arrived as a supermarket bagel* with arugula on the lox, and the whole Schmeer drenched in balsamic vinegar. I simply could not eat a bagel soaked in vinegar, so I sent it back and ordered an avocado toast. The avocado toast arrived topped with arugula and soaked in balsamic vinegar; even the avocado underlayer was floating in vinegar. The very nice and responsive waitress offered to take it back and replace it with avocado toast that had no vinegar. This third item arrived with the toast burnt. My wife ordered a beautiful bowl of fruit, but the fruit was absolutely tasteless. She ordered a plain bagel on the side - - same Lenders-type supermarket-bagged bagel - - but it was burnt. No wonder we were one of the few customers in this huge restaurant! *Such supermarket bagged product is not a bagel at all: they are baked, whereas a true Jewish bagel that you buy at Noah's, etc. is boiled in water and then finished in an oven. (The bagel even had those little raised dots that you see on the bottom of a Lenders bagel that come from being baked in a chain drive oven!) read more

We ate there Saturday, Nov. 13 for dinner. We had the worst waitress - full of snark and attitude. Don't recall her name - maybe Crystal? I asked for a taste of the white wine which was a recommended pair on the menu. She looked at me as if I had just dropped in from Mars; all eyebrows raised and judgemental - like I'm trying to steal their wine. Sorry. Requesting a taste before you buy a $10, $12 or $14 glass of wine is a thing. She came back with my husband's glass, and my wine taste. We didn't see her again for 20-30 minutes. Our friend did not have his beer. I had said the wine I tasted was fine and I'll take a glass but did not see the glass of wine either. We waited and waited. We asked one of the bus boys to please get our waitress. She came over and had the nerve to tell us that she couldn't get to us because there were problems at table 10, wrong orders at table 12 and it was soo busy that we basically just had to wait. What the what? Terrible waitress. The food was good though. The recommended wine pairing was also very good. It would have been a really nice evening except for the waitress. Celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary! Received two complimentary glasses of champagne with a raspberry in each one. Our server was professional, attentive and very pleasant. He made great suggestions. I love seafood and my scallops were amazing. I love that the menu pairs wine with a meal (so perfect). We then ordered dessert for some and gelato for the kids. Somehow my dessert came out before the kids who then waited 20 minutes to be brought the wrong flavor.
