I went to the Warren for dinner on a Saturday night, I would recommend getting a reservation since it gets packed. I had to make a last minute change to my reservation time, and they were extremely accommodating on the phone which I appreciate! The bar area is packed but they have tables along the rest of the room. It's a fairly small place, and they have a time limit for your table time. For food, we tried the hamachi crispy rice, Warren burger, and the carbonara. For cocktail, I had the All Shook Up with a honey crisp on the side, which I would recommend. I was timid at first but this place impressed me - everything was DELICIOUS. The cocktail was refreshing and a nice way to start. The crispy rice was the start - YUM! I could've had two order of this. Usually I like my shishito peppers more charred but they were so juicy and went perfectly with the aioli that I had no complaints, very garlicky. I was nervous to try the chicken liver and foie puffs but they executed it just right. Not funky at all and good flavor to texture ratio. Got off the path at Christopher Street and wanted a snack and a refreshment. Ordered a Makers Mark old fashioned and a Crispy Rice w Hamachi. There was banter among employees next to me which was a little distracting. They should take it a little further back of the house, and be aware a single patron can hear everything. However, I did learn they do a wine tasting and the summer is slower. Paula the bartender was great! She was professional and friendly! The dish was good, but I would prefer a little less red onions or was it shallots? The bar itself is small 10ish seats. Ambience is aesthetically pleasing. However, they don't come with any mashed potatoes or veggies so when you see a side you like, order it on the menu. Even our dessert, the cheesecake, is more like a bite size dessert, not a big triangle piece that we were expecting. Tiramisu was delicious though. I love this spot. It's so convenient. Super close to the Park and right across from a citibike dock! Lots of natural light poring into the first few feet of the restaurant but get darker as you recede back down the hall. Perfect for anyone who wants a change in scenery from the bright day. There's a bartender there named Natalie who is super dope, really nice, and absolutely a sweetheart! Went back the next day in hopes to see her again (to no avail). Came here a few months ago for their speakeasy section called "The Den at The Warren". This was tucked away in the cellar where the host would lead you to the back of the gastropub. There, you walk down a tight staircase where there's head clearance. The host will then open the doors to a speakeasy vibe room, which was dimly lit with one round table for a group and several smaller tables suitable for 2 or 4 people. The 6 course tasting menu is $125 and if you'd like to add wine pairing, that was an additional $65. They had an omnivore menu and a vegan menu for you to choose from. From the omnivore menu, we had the following from start to finish (see menu photo for details): Caviar & Bubbles Fluke Crudo Bone Marrow Duck Confit Agnolotti Roasted Lamb Loin Fig Pannacotta The chef would come out after each dish is served and explain each ingredients used and where the ingredients are sourced from and how it was prepared. Whether I retained all of that info is another question. Given how small each course was, my concern was if I was going to be full. I was surprised to find myself full after the final dish. Overall, it is a very intimate dinner, perfect for date nights, anniversaries, and such. I'm officially obsessed with The Warren. My husband and I headed into the West Village for a spur-of-the-moment, early dinner. We spotted The Warren, conveniently located near the Christopher Street PATH station, and managed to snag a table on their cute, fan-ventilated patio. We were treated to friendly service, great food, and even better people watching. I ordered the arctic char, and my husband ordered the mussels. The mussels were particularly excellent, with a broth that packed a huge amount of flavor. The arctic char came with wonderfully crispy skin, a mix of wild and regular rice (though only wild was named on the menu), a pea purée, and a buerre blanc. I enjoyed it very much, though overall it was a little underseasoned. Had it not been for that, I would have easily given them five stars. Nevertheless, we had a great time and will absolutely be back. It was already hard to choose from many enticing items on their menu, so we look forward to returning to try more. read more

Cute spot for dinner in the West Village! We got the caviar, deviled eggs, and eggplant meatballs for appetizers, all of which I enjoyed, especially the eggplant. For my entree, I got the short rib which was delicious but a little on the saltier/oiler side than I would've liked. You know when you go into a restaurant, and they tell you (on the reservation tool and in-person) that there is a time limit? While it generally is nbd, there's always the reverse of that to consider. We arrived at 8:10pm, which was 10 mins past our reservation time and were told to wait by the bar while our table was ready. We waited, and waited and waited some more. It was a Saturday night, so the place was really packed. You couldn't even stand at (or by) the bar without getting constantly bumped by the staff or someone simply trying to get by. Chaos. A quick glance at my watch and I realize it's now nearly 8:45pm. We eventually tell the host we'd rather just eat at the bar than continue to wait for the table we had reserved, especially since we had a 10 pm show to catch at a nearby jazz club. She looked relieved at the request. If I were to rate the food alone, I'd give it 4.5 stars. The deviled eggs were really good, the truffle mac and cheese really really good, we loved the twice fried chicken and capped off the meal with oysters. Oh, and the mezcal cocktail I ordered was well-balanced and really tasty. But honestly, it would have been a much better meal if they could have honored our reservation in a timely fashion. This place gets packed. So I'd come only if you're just looking to drink by the bar or if you're not in a hurry to get to somewhere else, and can wait a long time for your table on a Saturday night. read more

You're greeted with a glass of champagne and caviar as your first course. The strong attention to detail and exceptional service are what truly make this place stand out. This tasting menu is only available friday and Saturday nights, so make those reservations now! What we ate: -Caviar with bubbles -Fluke crudo -Bone marrow with escargot -House made sourdough bread with anchovy butter -Duck confit agnolotti -Roasted lamb loin -Fig panacotta My favorite course was the bone marrow with escargot, which literally melted in my mouth. I usually don't love bone marrow because it's really fatty and lacks flavor, but this one was phenomenal. I ate it with their house made sourdough roll with anchovy butter and I would order 10 of them if I could. The chef came out at the start of each course and explained in great detail the concept behind the dish and the thoughtfully curated wine pairing. I didn't opt into the wine pairing, but I was still given pours of their champagne to start, amarone wine to go with the lamb and a port to go with the panacotta. The space is truly intimate and we had dedicated staff to wait on us for the entire night. For $125, this was an extremely memorable experience. I liked The Warren and their service but it was way too loud for my taste. Speaking of taste, I ordered the duck and while it was juicy and fresh, with nice crispy skin, I wasn't really feeling the additions to the plate as they threw off the flavor of the overall meal making it a bit too tangy for my taste. I did thoroughly enjoy the friend avocado which was cooked to perfection and seasoned very well, even with the small amount of spiciness it had. The servers, were all excellent and everyone on staff that we interacted with was professional and nice. Still, the restaurant was way too dark and also too loud for my liking. We stumbled upon The Warren and luckily were seated for dinner party of 2 without a reservation on a Sunday. It was an early dinner so we got lucky, it def got packed by the time we were leaving so make your rezzies! Everything was SPOT ON. From service, to food, to drinks, to ambience -- cannot stop raving about this place. We started off with East and west coast oysters (East coast was better than West coast). The servers kept our whole meal well paced. As we were eating, the servers took note of when we were almost done with the oysters to cue the cook to start on our mussels. They did the same for our entree so our meal was seamless. The mussels were fresh, and soaking up in the delicious white wine sauce (which I could drink by itself). Entree we got butternut squash ravioli which was delicious. But the dish I still dream about is the Scallops which came with a miso based sauce. We had delicious h'ordevres: the fried shrimps, the mushrooms and a steak one. The shrimps won the game. For the appetizer, I had the eggplant meatballs. They were bomb! The others I tried were the chicken skewers which were a little dry and the steak poutine which was a little heavy. For the entrees, I got the steak which I wish came with cooked vegetables like broccoli or asparagus. The salmon entree looked really comprehensive! I ordered it Medium Rare, what I got was well done. Had it been a $10 burger at a diner I would have let it go. But this burger was $28. I sent it back.
