    Lobster Roll

Can't beat the views, vibes, and ambiance of this place! Gorgeous spot on the water, transporting you to the beach. A bit hard to find parking, but worth it. Lobster roll was good, but not $28 good, a little dry. Fast service, you order at the counter and they bring it out to your table.

This place lived up to the hype. It's a great spot off the lake. The food was delicious. And the vibe was fun. The only down side was the very long line and we were the last to leave. They had pretty much shut everything down and all the critters started to come out, but how can you avoid in a big city ?

I came here because I had a taste for a lobster roll and wanted to go someplace where the views were nice; and got just that. I will say this place is somewhat in the cut, and I can see how people would miss it if they didn't know what they weee searching for. Once I arrived was able to seat myself to a table for 2 right by the views of the lake. FYI have a QR code to order drinks to be delivered. You have to go inside to order your food though. No big deal, but it would be cool if you could do both. I ordered a lobster roll with a Diet Coke. It didn't take long for the food to arrive. It was delicious, fresh and filling.

Second time now at Waterfront Cafe; good restaurant with a nice amount of parking outside. Good amount of tables both inside and outside. Extensive menu and food is good. It can be pretty busy at times and service might be slower but all the servers are really kind and considerate

super solid northside gem - will miss it so much when I move!! Staff is super friendly and the seafood rolls scratch that summer itch for me. Best ones I've had in the city for sure.

What a cute spot on the lake. Wish I had found this gem sooner- makes a great spot to work from, enjoy a book, or meet friends. They have drinks and a restaurant, though I didn't try any of the food.

This adorable restaurant made me feel like I was dining at a quaint seaside restaurant on the east coast. There is only outdoor seating and it's on a first come first serve basis. You order at the counter and then they bring your order to you. There was some fun jazz music playing, and they often have live performers but we didn't go on a night they did. We ordered a bottle of wine and two starters - the queso and the corn salad. They had a couple other vegetarian options too, such as a tofu salad and a beyond sausage sandwich. I did not love the food. It was fine to have as a snack but was nothing great. Maybe the non-veggie food here, such as the lobster roll or burger, would be better? I would 100% come here again because the location is amazing, and there's no better spot to watch the sunset over the lake on a warm night. Atmosphere is a 5/5! Service was fast. The food was really lacking for me. I would come back for a glass of wine but I wouldn't eat here again.

Magical café literally right next to Lake Michigan! Good variety of fresh tasty salads, sandwiches, rolls, refreshments, cocktails to enjoy on the lovely spacious outdoor patio. Service very friendly and efficient - they bring your orders out to your table. Cool live music on certain days/times. Relaxing, well kept park right next-door. Free and or meter parking can be found in nearby side streets. Love being able to enjoy this luscious escape with my dog.

Beautiful place to be in Chicago in the Summer. Buy a canned beverage and a sandwich inside then sit next to Lake Michigan and enjoy.

My friends and I kept passing this restaurant near our Airbnb and so glad we did!…read more We had a bit of a wait because the place was popping on a Saturday morning. Luckily it was nice outside. We got a table after 10-15 minutes. Our server was very attentive and kind. They both hot and cold coffee although the menu did not specify they had cold coffee. I ordered the 2 eggs any style breakfast and turkey sausage. It was a great size portion and served with fresh fruit. The biscuit was so fresh and delicious! I was also really impressed with the baked goods selection they had on display. My friends and I got a blondie and a Nanaimo bar. Both were absolutely amazing. I loved how friendly everyone was and how delicious the food was. I definitely recommend you stop by!

The food here has always been solid and I LOVE their Sloppy Joes sandwich. This ain't a Manwich sloppy joe, but one for gown folks. It is made braised brisket and ground sirloin in a smoked chipotle barbecue sauce on a homemade baguette and it is to die for! I am also a fan of their Chicken and Biscuits, but you have to get it with a side of mash potatoes, trust me on this as it is the total meal. The Queen speaks highly of the Smoked Salmon Omelet (smoked Atlantic salmon, goat cheese & sautéed onions). I had the a bite and loved the fact that it had goat cheese in it, so tasty. I am also a fan of the Coconut Almond pancakes (two buttermilk & almond pancakes with shredded coconut, topped with warm homemade caramel, fresh whipped cream, and banana slices). While they come with a lot of toppings, I prefer just the pancakes on their own so I can get the full impact of the coconut and almond flavor. The space is very small and they do not do reservations, so be prepared to wait depending on what day and time you go. Weekends can be crazy but they do have an outside are you can eat at, but with the weather getting on the cool side, it's a dealer's choice if you want to eat outside. Parking can be tight as it is all paid street parking nearby, although there is free parking on the side streets...good luck locating it though. Service has been great when I have dined in or gotten take-out, so no complaints there. I will still say my favorite dish is the Sloppy Joes and that will keep me coming back.

And I don't eat meats that are made with nitrates. So that knocks out the whole sandwich menu. Oh and I just don't like mushrooms. It's not their problem! Believe me, I know I'm a hot mess. You can't just order a sandwich with chicken and arugula because everything is pre-made and the chicken diced up and is already mixed with red bell peppers, more like a chicken salad sandwich, rather than just a piece of chicken breast waiting for some bread and accoutrements which is what I expected after reading the menu on my phone the day before choosing it for a visit. So it's impossible to get a custom sandwich where you pick and choose what's on it. But they were extremely nice answering all my questions about the food. I could maybe get some focaccia and a side of broccoli if I was desperate and nothing else was open. But I was in no rush and just went home and made something for myself. But my partner really enjoyed it so I'm glad we stopped by to check it out. It's definitely unique and convenient if you don't have so many food allergies like I do. I had already had my coffee fix for the day so I neglected to ask if they have nondairy milk options. There's limited seating inside but lots outside if the weather's nice! Cute little place.

In the warmer months they offer outdoor seating so it expands the number of people that can dine-in. The restaurant is colorful and refreshing. It gives Italy in the Summer, it makes you want to wear a sundress and sip fresh lemonade. Food: During my visit I ordered the Arancini Porcini which a fried Risotto ball filled different ingredients. It came with two balls which is perfect because it made it easy to share. I also ordered a slice of the Sfincione Chicago Style pizza which is a Sicilian style pizza with Italian sausage, green peppers and mushrooms. You can tell they invest in the quality of their food because everything tasted fresh. Overall: I highly recommend visiting Sfera Sicilian Street Food at least once. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is very cute. They don't have a lot of indoor seating so be prepared to wait for a table if you plan to dine-in but the neighborhood invested in a lot of community benches if you opt for a to-go order.

I doubt anyone leaves feeling less jolly than they did going in. On this visit, I started with the After Word to drink. It was light-bodied, not at all too sweet, and possibly went down *too* easily. We split the short rib poutine and I can't think of a better dish to get you through the winter. The meat absolutely melted in the mouth and the cheese was abundant and rich. Would order again in a heartbeat! We also tried the alligator bites as a seasonal special. I'd not had alligator before, but they were super crispy and spicy with an addictive gochujang sauce. It really does taste like chicken. If you've ever wanted to try alligator, this is the place to do it. For the main event, I opted for the red beans and rice hand pie. It came with a light, citrus salad and delicious hand cut fries with 3 dipping sauces, which were very fun to try. I loved the buttery pie crust but the filling tasty very tomato forward- I was missing the heat of a traditional red beans & rice and wished there was more seasoning. Still good. As usual, the portions were generous for the price and we left with leftovers. Absolutely recommend making the trek over here to give B&B a try, and will be back soon!

And you know what would help the vibe even more? Including the bread pudding on the menu full time. Keeping that bad boy stocked for me at all times. When you first walk in, you have to show your ID since this is an adults-only bar establishment. (1) You can then choose to sit in the front bar area, if you want a full menu, but use the bar for ordering service. (2) If you keep walking through the front bar area, you reach the host stand at the top of the ramp. This is where you can put your name in to sit in the main dining room, upstairs, or outside. (3) However, you can also walk through to the left of the host stand to another bar area that has full menus, but bar service for ordering. This is our preferred spot because we can often find a seat and order with the bar. Do note that, during busy times, part of this bar area is managed by the host stand and will be labeled as such. The extensive beer menu is our favorite. We have our favorite food items, so all our decision making revolves around which beer we will get. They always have a bit of everything style-wise, from all over the world, but with a local-brewery focus. Seasonal emphasis is also taken into consideration when they curate the beer list. It is always rotating and we love it! Beers are served in the recommended glasses from the breweries. It's a great drinking experience from start to finish! Our food orders are eternally set: I get the Nueske Ham sandwich with fries and aioli. My husband gets the Reuben sandwich with fries and aioli. This meal is so perfect we'll probably never get anything different, despite the menu being delicious across the board. The wildest we get is sometimes splitting the two sandwiches. No reason to mess with a good thing! Other notable great things about Hopleaf: (1) Kind, knowledgeable, and professional staff. (2) Reasonable prices for high quality and great variety products. (3) Clean Belgian Bar decor/vibe with lots of space for folks to enjoy their time. (4) They are open late and serve food late. Thank you for being an amazing local spot, Hopleaf! We'll see you soon!
