This person burned me, which caused pain and hyperpigmentation. When I spoke to the owner about it, first she questioned if the hyperpigmentation was old (after seeing pictures that I sent her), then asked me to come in but I was out of state. She said she'd call me again to see the burned area once she returned from vacation, but if she called me, she also called you. About a week later, I called to cancel my next appointment. I am convinced this place makes their own reviews.. How could they possibly have 4.5 stars?!? I would not recommend this place at all to anyone!!!! They have poor customer service and are borderline crooks! After purchasing a deal ($35 for a Brazilian wax) I tried to book a Brazilian wax a few weeks later and they informed me that it was expired. This is understandable since most coupons do expire. However, when asked if the $35 dollars I paid can be put towards a Brazilian wax and informed them that I would pay the difference(I still have my receipt) I was told this was impossible. Great environment, staff and service tho you need to call prior to purchasing any special deals e.g. Groupons/ Living Social etc deals can only be used for new customers (god forbid if your first time was a Brazilian and you later decide to get a special for underarm NO!!. , you're not a first time for underarm because you had a Brazilian) Emails were recently sent out for Brazilian maintenance for $40, and I was charge $50 simply because I could not find the email to prove. My first Brazilian wax. This place is amazing! They are extremely friendly and make the experience as pleasant as possible. I strongly recommend Jae. She is a sweetheart and will keep you engaged with conversation. She explained the procedure beforehand and really put my mind at ease. Jae was really nice and even told me which places would be more painful than others. When it was all over, she explained how to maintain the wax. (Your post wax care.) This place can seriously go to hell. I had an appointment scheduled for tomorrow at noon. I called at 12:20 - as soon as I saw that my "friend" decided to show up to cancel. I was not comfortable going under these circumstances. Whoever answered the phone (mind you I called and left several messages before noon), was extremely rude and kept repeating the policy. Well sorry hun, things happen and not everyone is okay with this. She made me feel extremely uncomfortable. She said I could still come and wear a tampon. I don't do that, so I wanted to reschedule and was advised I would be charged 50% of the price if I rescheduled and 100% if I cancelled. Great Brazilian Wax! Jae takes you in right away, and gets to work. Waxing is fairly painless (it's a Brazilian so there is only so much one can do) and very quick and efficient. I have been a customer of The Wax Den since 2014. I have always had pleasant experiences with all staff members. I receive appointment reminders via text and email. Almost to the point where I'm like, alright already- I'll be there! Lol. However, I truly appreciate the reminder notices. I always book my next appointment right after a service and place it in my calendar so ensure I get first dibs on any appointments based on my schedule. My most recent visit was with Jasmine and I think I've been going to her for as long as she has worked there. I am always thoroughly pleased with the service received from Jasmime. Poorest customer service I've ever received from any business... So much so that I had to create a yelp account for the sole purpose of writing this review. I contacted the Wax Den on January 25th in order to book an appointment with my Black Friday deal that I pre-paid $35 for. I specifically called in advising the receptionist that I was just there for a brazillian wax a couple weeks before (for which I also paid $35 for) and forgot to use my pre-paid deal. I asked if I can still book it. She said it would be fine and proceeded to book me for February 13th. I even received the email confirming that my appointment was scheduled for the Black Friday deal as discussed. I happened to call in on Saturday February 7th in order to change the time of my appointment to something later in the day and was then told by what sounds like the same receptionist that I would be charged for a regular brazilian wax b/c the deal is expired. How is this possible when I specifically covered this issue with the receptionist when I first called and I have an email confirming this? Not to mention I did have a few more days to squeeze in another appointment had the receptionist gave me the correct information to begin with. There was absolutely no resolution, compromise, or even an ounce of empathy expressed when this was clearly the receptionist's fault. Jae, the business owner, pretty much pointed the finger at me (in a snide, rude manner) basically confirming that they don't give a crap about customer service or keeping a REGULAR client as other reviewers have mentioned. So my vain self wanted to look my best for my vacation in mid-september to st. Martin. Having had a previous experience and body waxing many years ago on a trip to Puerto Rico I was skeptical because the end result was a very embarrassing healing situation on the beach and my friends never let me forget it. I'm a regular at the European Wax Center but after coming across a good deal on Groupon for a Brazilian at the Wax Den I couldn't pass it up. I booked my appointment at the Nutley location which was a nice welcoming, cozy little spot. Plenty of parking was available which was a plus already because the parking at the Wax Center I tend to go to in Clifton Commons is a nightmare. The wax professional that took me in was Kathy, by far one of the best I have encountered so far. She was very welcoming, and knowledgable to every single question I had. Because it was my first time getting a full brazilian, she was attentive to see if I was comfortable during the whole process which was great because I felt little to minimal pain during the waxing process. I left perfectly fine and was given a few tips on when to come back for maintenance, etc. There is a strict late policy to this place so always make sure you get there on time for your appointment to avoid any charges. Being that I was in a long detour that day, I had called 15 minutes prior to my appointment to let them know I was going to be a few minutes late because of the traffic, they accommodated me and moved my appointment up a few minutes to ensure I'll get there on time & on top of that have an additional 8 min grace time. Went here recently after a bad waxing experience somewhere else. Her salon is conveniently located a few streets off of GSP. It's on a side street but actually not very hard to get to. You feel welcomed from the moment you walk in and Jae immediately puts you at ease. She's very, very good with the waxing and there was very little pain. I am a male who has never waxed before. but wanted to give it a try I did a bunch of research on the Internet to find a place that specializes in men's services and not just list a ton of female services and "Oh, BTW, we do guys". I read many reviews for good and bad points and salons and about waxing for men in general. This is why The Wax Den stood out for me. They list lots of men's services and seem to cater to men just as much as women. The reviews for The Wax Den were all so very good. I decided to give them a try. I wanted to start with just my full arms to see how the waxing experience was, how much it hurt, how the staff was, etc. I stopped by to ask if the growth I had was enough for waxing and they said it was. So, I made the leap. I used the online booking system to make an appointment and to my surprise they had lots of openings to choose from for the next day (Saturday). I was a bit confused by the name of the service (Full Arm) and thought it was for just one arm and so ordered two of them. I got a call from the office worker there on Saturday morning noting that I accidentally ordered two Full Arms (total of 4 arms) and so she fixed the mistake for me. I arrived 15 minutes early and filled out the simple form and then waited for my time. I was brought into the room at the assigned time and was greeted by the owner (Jae) who was going to be working me today. From my research, I know right away that she was the owner and was flattered to get the Royal Treatment for my first time. Jae was wonderful in that she explained what she was going to do and what I should do. The waxing process did hurt a little bit but nothing that I could not handle with ease. She was gentle when touching and moving me but serious when it came to removing the hairs. We engaged in small talk to help distract my mind and make the experience pleasant. Jae explained how to take care of my skin after the waxing and before the next one. The whole process took the 20 minutes allotted for my appointment. Afterwards, I got a Kiss from the receptionist (a chocolate Kiss from the candy jar), she sold me the serum for treating skin to help prevent ingrown hairs, I paid the bill and was on my way. The rest of the day, the skin on my arms was irritated and a bit uncomfortable. But that calmed down as the day progressed. By Sunday (after 24 hours) I was almost back to normal. Now, a few days later, my arms feel fine and are nice and smooth and I LIKE IT!! I plan to go back in a month to have my arms done again (as recommended) and I will add the first time for my full legs then. After that, I may add more body parts since I certainly do like the hairless look and feeling. Bottom line: I recommend The Wax Den!!! read more

Let me start off by saying that I am a huge fan of the Wax Den. I have been getting wax with them for years. The reason I have lowered my rating is due to pricing and the policies. I feel that the Wax Den is trying to squeeze out every little dime they can get from their clients. The final straw for me was the $20 increase I have to now pay because I'm 4 months pregnant. What I find even more infuriating is when I spoke to the owner about the differences between a normal wax v. a pregnancy wax, the only difference she told me is the position of the table! She also did not let me know there was a price difference, the receptionist had to tell me when I was making my next appointment! I do not feel that a changed table position calls for a $20 increase in price. I will be using a different waxing place for the remainder of my pregnancy. read more
