This is my second time visiting the Wax Den and I am very happy for Jae and how much progress she's made! The Wax Den is fairly priced. I've been getting ripped off by the European Wax Center for two years, and I am happy Jae is fairly priced. My wax was done by Nana who took her time and was very gentle. Eh! MY experience with The Wax Den was pretty decent Brit always did a pretty good job. However this past week after a super traumatic emotional and physical but most importantly personally devastating experience . I could not keep my appt. On the following day after I recuperated a bit I called to see what I could do because I noticed they had charged my card $40.00- I explained to the receptionist what happened and she said (she seemed to not give a crap at all) thats our policy again- thats our policy she continuously repeated. Keep in mind at this point I was completely willing to reschedule) What hurt mostly was the disregard for my own personal loss and the importance of them keeping $40.00 instead of trying to save a customer. I asked to speak to a manager and the rep told me Jae was not available until 5:30pm. Thus the waiting game began.... OKay I get it The strict cxx policy I do but come on... No call what so ever- A couple days later I called for an update and left a message a rep got back with me and asked me for the story - yet again I shared my personal tragedy and she asked for as number Jae could give me a call back on. I provided the number (Friday) and still no call. Waiting game... Im just disappointed... and would really appreciate a call back. read more

From the moment I walked through the door my experience at the Wax Den was excellent and the professionalism of the staff from the receptionist to the wax technician was superb. As this was my first time, I thought getting a full Brazilian was over-ambitious, but I'm so glad I did!! My technician, Priscilla, was a sweetheart. She is professional, personable and her entire demeanor was comforting which made my visit enjoyable. As for the pain... Truthfully speaking, it was virtually non-existent!!! I first heard of this salon from a Living Social coupon. Once I went, I was hooked! The entire facility is clean and orderly. The wax technicians are very warm and personable. Jae, the owner/manager, greatly respects her clients and their dignity just by the language the technicians use. Being a disabled person, the staff took great concern with my safety and would let me wait in the lobby for my transportation to arrive- sometimes, when I was dropped off early, the wax technician would do my service earlier than my appointment. I like their pricing structure because they have flat rates. Their appointment managing program is extremely efficient and lends itself to fit the Millenials' need for instant gratification, efficiency and automation. They also had a pay once deal and you would get 5 waxes (at a discounted rate) and receive the 6th for free. They never double-dip their waxing sticks, which limits the spread of disease. The products they sell (ingrown prevtion, et al.) are very effective. The salon is located in an awkward spot and the parking lot fills up pretty quickly, but overall this salon is one of the best I've ever been to. I had a brazilian wax from a Groupon at the Bloomfield location. The place is clean and cozy. The offer you coffee/tea/hot chocolate upon arrival. The wax professional that took me in was Maria. She was great! Very friendly & knowledgeable. Always made sure that I was comfortable. The receptionist was also very professional and pleasant. My only issue with this place is that you can hear the conversation that is going on in the next room. The waxing room itself is pretty small too but gets the job done. I came from European wax center because they did a horrible job and just received the best wax of my entire life from Jasmine and she was extremely personable. I would highly recommend this establishment for anyone male or female. I usually have extremely stubborn hair and flinch really bad, but I felt almost no pain and didn't flinch at all. I asked to speak to a Supervisor to make a complaint due to unprofessional interactions with her staff and the response was "I doubt she'll get back to you she's very busy and decides who she does and does not respond to". The manager was not available so I was dealing with who ever was in charge of the phones. She didn't let me re schedule because they need a 24 hour in advance notice to reschedule or they charge you 11 dollars!! When I tried to appeal to the fact that I have debilitating disease and that I felt too ill to come all she kept talking about was the 24 re-scheduling and cancellation policy which is not easy to give when most people have 10 things going on in one day. It was like talking to an arrogant wall. So frustrating to have booked with a place that has no customer service and who doesn't care about where they work or any interest in fixing issues for their new customers. From the beginning this place put me off including needing an ID in order to use a credit card because of their 'fraud policy'. Not everyone has an ID so for an establishment to have this policy is discriminatory against people with lesser means. read more

I had an awesome experience at the Wax Den. Jae is a master of her craft. I've avoided getting my lady parts waxed for years because I had built up a bunch of anxiety over the whole thing. Having to spread eagle is enough to be nervous over. I am a card carrying fatty and that brings its own issues into the equation. Thankfully not at the Wax Den. My experience was pleasant and pretty much pain free. I took two Advil before my appointment and was good to go. I was so pleased with my waxing I prepaid for 6 more. Jae uses a special wax that reduces pain and irritation. I have very sensitive skin. I had her do my facial hair and did not get the usual red blotches. She has a convenient online appointment scheduler that is great for people on the go. A++ all around. read more

BOOK WITH CAUTION OR YOU WILL LOSE YOUR $!!!!! This review is based on their customer service, I did not get to complete an appointment for services. I purchased a living social deal, and totally forgot about it. When I tried to redeem it a few days before it expired, I made an appointment..I then had an emergency and could not make the appointment. I was advised of the very STRICT cancel/reschedule policy and NO accommodations were made. When I asked for the owner to call me back, she did- and only reiterated the policy without any level of courtesy or attempt to work with me. SO- I lost my $20 from living social and I have no brazilian wax. While I completely understand policy is important, a good business has some flexibility for emergencies and unexpected events. Not an appealing location from outside or in. I bought a groupon and I tried to make an appointment over the phone but no one ever picked up the line. So I drove there as a walk-in and the woman at the front had a bit of an attitude with me. She kept insisting I give her my credit card information for next time (in case you miss an appointment and don't cancel within 24 hours they will charge you for a visit). I asked why I had to if I had already pre-paid and she just rolled her eyes and said "because that's our policy". I obliged with hesitation since I didn't know if I would ever be back. My previous 5 star review is now a 1 star review s/p my eyebrow waxing just received by Thalia. My first experience at the wax den was impeccable and I certain I will (by no means) be returning to the wax den after Thalia failed to remove practically any hair. She did not even apply wax to below my left brow? I have no problem paying 20 dollars to get my eyebrows waxed ( by someone as incredible as jae), but I refuse to have my eyebrows done for 20 dollars by someone who is incompetent and lacking the proper education & understanding of what an eyebrow waxing entails. read more

Great place! I've been going here for 2 years now and have never had a bad experience. I did try a place closer to my house where they used cloth strips with the wax and received " rectangle shape burns" under my arm as a result from straying lol Jae the owner of the wax den was even nice enough to give me skin care tips to prevent scarring of my skin after that awful experience at a different salon. The only reason I waited so long is b/c Brittany was/is holding down the fort while her boss/Den owner is away on a much needed VACAY! I did end up getting their pfb roll on serum to extend the results; checking in on Yelp gives you 10% off product. I have had some great and pretty bad Brazilian Waxes through out the years but my experience at The Wax Den was SUPERB. I made an appointment online with Jae and arrived 3 minutes late due to an accident but they still took me for my scheduled time. Once Jae started, I could not believe how painless it was. So far I've had two brazilian waxes here and loved it. They are quick, clean, and efficient. Nayda did both my waxes. She is really nice and friendly, even though both my appts were really early. I had been searching for a good brazilian place in NJ for over a year and out of desperation I'd resort to European wax center (like the McDonalds of the waxing world). I read the Yelp reviews of this place and decided to check it out. I was so happy I did! It was clean, Jae is very friendly, the brazilian is inexpensive (first timers $20, after $35-$40), and probably the least pain I've ever experienced getting a brazilian. She is very thorough! I bought a groupon for a brazilian wax. Having been to a few different salons for waxing in the last year I was interested to see how The Wax Den would compare. I was pleasantly surprised! Brittany (the woman who did my wax) was very friendly and made me feel very comfortable in what can only be described as a not so comfortable situation LOL. The room was very clean and welcoming with music to distract me from what was happening. I like that the wax used was a hard wax which does not require waxing strips (less waste) and it was definitely less painful than other times I have gotten brazilians.
