Amazing. Great place, great food, great drinks, great staff. The valet is a little much when it's not peak hours. I think if it's clear we can park it, just let us park ourselves. Other than that - the lobster escargot is unlike anything I'd ever had. Highly recommend as a light bite. The truffle tots are absolutely divine. I would have gotten 3 orders if I could - comes with yummy dipping sauces as well. And also the tuna tartar is very good. Comes with a great garlic aioli of sorts. We only sat at the bar but had a great time. Can't speak for the dining room but the bar staff was fantastic. Very attentive and friendly. There was also some live music starting up as we were leaving which was great. This was our fourth visit and the one thing we can say is the food is inconsistent. We raved about the crushed fingerling potatoes we had last week, and this week they were truly blah. The Caesar salad was totally over dressed. The main restaurant was too loud with piped in music, but it certainly added to the energetic vibe on a very busy Saturday night. It took us an hour and a half to get our food. When the food came out, it went to the wrong table where the other people breathed on it and touched it during a pandemic, and we still were served the same food. 2 of our orders were wrong and the food was cold. It was extremely over priced. Service was slow and to top it off, we told the manager who claims she is a server but was the manager for the day. She actually was the one who served the food to the wrong table and she would not compensate anything. read more

We were on vacation and saw they have jazz brunch here, so we decided to give it a try. I'm glad we did! It wasn't too busy when we got there, so we were seated right away. Loved the decor and atmosphere, very 1920s/art deco. Coffee was great, and food was delicious. I got the French toast, which might be the best I've ever had. It was almost like a bread pudding, with a seasonal fruit compote (this was peaches and strawberries). My husband got the chicken and waffles, which he enjoyed very much. The only disappointing thing was the music didn't start until about 11:45, even though it was advertised as being from 11-3. We were worried they wouldn't start until after we were finished, but the wait staff didn't rush us out which was nice! We stayed for a while, enjoying our coffee and the great music. Ordered an omelette from the buffet omelette station and saw the cook stick his BARE finger into my omelette while it was cooking to remove something - not sure what. This restaurant was great! The decor inside is beautiful and very interesting. Our server was so knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. My 3 and 6 year old were happy with their unpublished children's menu. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and ate tapas style by our choice. Everything was delicious! Love this new place that opened in the old Paddock restaurant. They did a great job remodeling and giving the place a makeover. The lounge and bar areas are much improved and offer some nice areas to sit and enjoy a martini. I was there last Saturday night and had a perfectly cooked ribeye. My girlfriend got the swordfish and again was perfect. Keep up the good work. I'll be a repeat customer. read more

DO NO WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME HERE! We started out excited to experience a new restaurant at least to us and celebrate Valentine's Day and it was a total disaster. It was not a disaster because it was Valentine's Day, it should have been a normal Friday night for this place. We had a reservation for 7:30 pm and showed up at 7:32 pm. Hostess tells us people are lingering at their tables so it will be a couple of minutes before they can seat us. No problem. 30 minutes later we finally get seated. Once seated it goes like this, wait for inattentive waitress, order, informed there is no bread it is "in the oven", informed there is no more calamari appetizer (Really no calamari! Who runs out of appetizers???) Order another appetizer, eat appetizer, wait, wait, wait, an hour and a half after seating waitress comes back, food should be out any minute now. Can we get some more bread? Yes, come back in five minutes, no bread, bread is "in the oven" (and never comes). I ask for the check, waitress comes back and says you are the next ticket. I ask again for the check, manager comes over with our dinners, apologizes and appreciates our patience (I thought I was out of patience but OK we will eat). Start eating and my wife tells me her swordfish is cold, meanwhile my scallops are warm and my mashed potatoes are cold. Call over waitress who calls over manager, "sorry I will fix it" and returns five minutes later with hot food (where was this an hour ago??) Manager says he will make adjustments to our bill. Finish dinner, ask for the check and waitress comes back and insults us with the manager has offered you free desert. No thank you, we will take the check. Get the check and bill reflects "house treat" of a $20 discount. Major disappoint on a night that should have been special. We were one of at least three tables who compared notes and had the same experience. I know my family and I will boycott this restaurant. read more

Ok, I don't mind an expensive restaurant. I'll gladly pay more for a good dining experience with good food. But, if you are going to charge a good amount, don't nickel and dime me. 2/3 of the food was good, although stay away from the soggy fried chicken. Someone with us couldn't eat the coleslaw (allergy, which we brought up) and asked for the haricot verts (green beans) instead. We we're up charged $7 for this, for 9 stinking green beans. Maybe it's me, but 78¢ per green bean seems a bit steep. I ordered a martini with olives. I was up charged $2 for the olives! Why the F would I be charged extra for something that is a regular staple in a martini?? These actually appeared as up charges on the bill. If you are going to charge me quite a bit to enjoy your restaurant, at least throw in the flippin' olives, and don't up charge by %25 - %30 because someone has allergies. -cheers read more

Do not go there on a Saturday night or any night there is a concert at the Melody Tent. They are totally unable to handle the crowds and they do not seem to care. We went there in the off-season when it was not crowded and got great food and service. We went there this past Saturday and had to wait over an hour for our 7pm reservation. No waitress to take our drink order in the bar area until right before we sat down to eat and then they got our drink order mixed up - sent back two drinks that they still put on the bill. Service was poor, but mainly because the kitchen was so backed up.We heard multiple other customers complaining as well. Food was OK when it finally arrived except the lobster roll was horrible - dry and overcooked lobster with nothing else on the roll. We will not be back again. read more

It is with some reticence that I'm giving The West End a five star review. That's because I don't want it to get so crowded that it becomes near impossible to get a table! With our good neighbors, the four of us went this past Sunday for the West End Sunday brunch. Although I'm not easily impressed, they sure did impress me. The ambiance was excellent; the wait staff was incredibly good; the drinks were very tasty; and the food!!! We each had something different from the brunch menu and no one was disappointed. Just the exact opposite... we all raved about our food. Go ahead, try anything on their menu. I'm quite sure it will be better than you expect. And, the live jazz combo was impressive! Besides being excellent musicians and a singer, they kept their volume low enough so that table conversation was not interfered with. Kudos to them! read more

Had a very poor experience at the West End on a Saturday night. Evening started off nice with a drink at a bar. Was seated and was downhill from there. Service was very slow. 1 hour and 45 mins to get through 2 courses. I ordered a filet that took way too long and when it showed up it was cold and they served it with the wrong sauce because they ran out of peppercorn and the waiter failed to let me know. I am sure if the steak was warm or at least hot it would have been good. Waiter was trying to divert our attention from the numerous failures. First took 30 mins to get the bread that was supposedly in oven and it showed up like it had just been defrosted be steak was cold yes cold and it was delayed numerous times because it was "restng" peppercorn sauce was out and waiter said they r cooking more that showed up cold too terrible for a $36 price point I dine out 2x or greater times per week and I live in Barnstable all summer and visit in the off season quite a bit. Second time dining at the West End and was looking forward to it. A few weeks before friends and I had tickets to The Melody Tent so had dinner before the performance. The menu changes on Melody Tent event nights(something you don't know until you get there) so the dish I was going to order wasn't available. I chose the pasta primavera. It was delicious! Wait staff was attentive an friendly. I had a friend in from out of town this week and looked forward to another dinner at The West End. A bit disappointed this time. We ordered the honey roasted brussel sprouts which were overcooked and too crispy. I had the filet mignon which had a nice char on the outside but the meat was a bit tough. Garlic potatoes were bland. My friend ordered sole milanese which was to heavily breaded. Overall not a great dining experience this time. read more

We decided to go here to celebrate my mother's birthday. We were greeted by the valet who iformed us that there was no option to park our own car, okay. The hostess informed us that because there was a show at the melody tent they were serving a modified menu. A modified menu that mind you only has 8 dinner entrees on it. We started off our night with a round of drinks at the bar, as we were unable to be seated until 5:00. The drinks were delious and the cocktail menu featured a good variety. We ordered some starters and moved to a table in a dinning room to enjoy them. The starters were great, but the rest of our experience went down hill from there. My aunt ordered the lobster bisque, which was disgusting and entirely too salty while my mother got the calm chowder which was just a bit off. For entrees my mother ordered a hot lobster roll, the lobster was very dry and flavorless and therefore went uneatten, something our waitress didn't seem to notice. The truffle tots we were eager to try came out frozen had to be send back. As if this weren't bad enough we had to ask our waitress twice to bring over some silverware as she had cleared it away with our starters and never replaced it. As we had mentioned earlier in the evening that we were celebrating a birthday our waitress brought over a complimentary dessert, while it was delious it was a too little too late. read more

Had drinks and dinner at this new Hyannis eatery last night before show at The Melody Tent. As self admitted "foodies" we expect a lot from our dining experiences and were not disappointed. Sophisticated and upscale redo of the previous Paddocks restaurant works. Their "crafted cocktail" list is interesting and fresh. Burrata appetizer was among the best we've ever had and the entrees - swordfish special and a very tasty pasta with fresh littlenecks - were excellent. Had a super chocolate cake made by a local cape bakery for dessert. Overall a great first experience - we will be back. P.S. Our waiter, Nick, was terrific - pleasant, appropriately attentive and knowledgeable about the menu items. read more

Ambience nice. Service good. Comfortable. Drinks-watered down. Jumbo shrimp? A LOL - for $3 each they were baby medium shrimp. If I hadn't been with friends I would have sent them back. Special of the day Scallops seems like it had been sitting in the bowl while under a heat lamp. Good but lukewarm. My husbands halibut was over cooked and dry. I was treated to Mother's day brunch by my husband and son this year. We decided to try The West End. It's very elegant inside but the food is just average. They had a raw bar and the shrimp was unpeeled which we found very disappointing! The breakfast foods were average. I did not try the Eggs Benedict or Waffles, but the pancakes and scrambled eggs were good. The prime rib was very good...risotto was too sticky and it was hard to get any on your plate. Desserts were just okay and were bite size. The price for brunch is usually 28.00, but on Mother's Day it jumped to 40.00! The best part of the brunch was the jazz music! read more

We were seated at a table with no leg room, squeezed into a corner where backing the chair up would have taken away whatever leg room the next couple had (which wasn't much)--but that's not the reason for this review. It was the flies! We were seated near a large picture window and the window had at least eight flies on it. We spent the first 10 minutes trying to kill the flies so that we could enjoy our meal--a member of the wait staff said, "Yeah, we've been trying to get rid of them." Really? In a restaurant? We ordered an appetizer for each of us and when they arrived we realized the portions were huge (wasteful). It would have been nice if the wait staff had warned us that an appetizer could easily be shared between two people. But halfway through eating the appetizers, our main course arrived. The wait person said, "Oh, sorry" and proceeded to load the small table with new plates of food. Now we had a choice, finish the appetizers and let our main courses get cold, or abandon the appetizers and move on--we chose the later. No one bothered to clear the half-eaten appetizers despite the obvious fact that we had tried to abandon them in favor of finishing our meal. The food was average--not at all like the innovative meals we were used to enjoying in Cape Cod restaurants in the same price range. Two glasses of wine, one glass of Sangria, two vegetable appetizers, one vegetable main dish, one order of Salmon and an 18% tip cost us $135.00. And, for the finishing act, the wait staff disappeared for about 15 minutes after we declined dessert to present us with the bill. At first glance we came In and were in awe of how beautiful the restaurant was. There was excitement in the air as we were celebrating a special occasion and were very happy to be in what looked like a very happening place. The menu screamed New wave gastropub and we were drawn to many of the items off of the appetizer menu. Unfortunately the bartender was unengaged and a hard to get ahold of. It wasn't like the bar was 3 people deep. We're talking a total of 10 people at the bar yet he went about his business as if he was At a Vegas nightclub all by himself because somebody called in sick and We were there for waters and free bread. Very arrogant and delusional as to how busy bars can get. You shouldn't feel like you have to apologize every time you ask the bartender a question. We ordered the octopus which is one of my favorites however it was so dry and overcooked it was almost like eating plastic with sauce. We also ordered the mussels which were not flavorful and swimming in a Bath of unflavored liquid which is difficult to accomplish when you're dealing with mussels. We also ordered the bone-marrow toast which literally was just toasted bread with smeared marrow on it but it could have been anything. In many restaraunrs they give you the bone with the marrow in it. The food cost on that dish must have been about .50 cents but that's not what we paid of course. We then finished by sharing the fried chicken. It looked amazing but the chicken was cold in the middle and makes you wonder if they pre cook it and then fry or they don't have the temp and time down for the recipe. We also had the pork belly sliders which were made with a store bought steamed bun. Im ok with that but if you buy the buns pre made, the filling better have some time and effort invlovled. The pork was pale, boring, and bland and not worth the money. For how much they charge, they need to get their act together. I don't have a problem paying for food but the execution was awful despite their heart being in the right place. Anyone can put bone marrow and spread it on toast. We just did it last night. Don't BS people and pose as high end and deliver TGIF. read more

We were driving in from the airport and stopped here because it had late hours. After eating for a week on cape cod I think this restaurant could use some work. Definitely overpriced. Staff is not the friendliest. Octopus dish was awful and we had to send it back. Food is not as refined as the prices dictate. The cocktails were subpar. The newly opened West End Restaurant needs to make several major changes before it should be rated a four or five star establishment. First the noise level is comparable to a high school cafeteria or watching a Patriot game at a sports bar. In order to hear anyone at your table you must speak loudly or get a hearing aid. The West End only has one fish entrée on the menu, NO salmon, flounder, or Cod dishes, not a great stop for seafood lovers. Drink prices are 15 to 20% higher than other upscale restaurants in the area. If it were not for a good staff rating would be lower. Hoping for improvements before we go again. Pete read more

We've been here a half dozen or so times. We always sit at the bar. The food is always very good and well worth the price. It's the bartenders that we're always most impressed with. We don't have the same bartender each time (Paul and Nick have been favorites), but whoever we get, they are always knowledgeable about cocktails and spirits, especially classic ones. It is always disappointing to walk into a more upscale bar and find a bartender that's more of a beer and wine bartender. Not the case here. The bar is well stocked - probably the best on the Cape, including many single malt scotches, as well as better bourbons and ryes. Always a lively place too. read more
