The Western Door Steakhouse does not disappoint. There is real talent in their kitchen, they prepare meat, exactly as you ask them to, including rare. They are generous with their sauces, and their menu offerings are unique and even adventurous. Everything is done properly. Not extravagantly, but properly. The table settings are all functional, the dishes are clean, the wait staff know the menu and are happy to discuss details and pairings. Their tapwater is filtered and does not have an odor of chlorine. The wine list is more than adequate and they serve wine correctly and at the right temperatures. This restaurant is classy, but informal, and depending upon where you are seated, can even be intimate. The portion sizes are just right and their prices are in line for Western New York. I didn't see the various magnificent seafood towers that I have gotten in the past, but they do have some chilled seafood appetizers that were satisfying. Reservations were made online and they send text reminders. This restaurant continues to run efficiently, even more efficiently than in the past. It keeps getting better. First, take my $200 celebration for the year, next take my Advent calendar dining, please do not touch my dining dollars. Well, after telling her 3 times what do you think she did? She took my dining dollars and then my Advent calendar dollars. Is there a reason your servers don't listen? I gave her a substantial tip, I hope she's my server next time because she will be getting absolutely ZERO TIP! Yes, I complained to a casino host, I really dislike when they defend their employees instead of making their employees accountable for their errors. I took my son here for his birthday, we was seated promptly. A couple of things was explained on the menu,bread and dipping oil was brought to the table along with the menus. My son ordered the prime rib, med rare and it came out medium, it was sent back, and as an add on he got shrimp, the shrimp was over cooked, so he sent it back, and they never brought out another one. We both got Caesar salads, the croutons was made from the bread that they brought out, and they were inedible they were hard as rocks, the crab cakes, came out with a smear of romulad, so we asked for more, and the crab cakes were small, we shared the asparagus, but next time please remove the fibrous bottoms, the shareable baked potato was MEH, very forgettable. I ordered the rack of lamb med rare, which was encrusted in pistachios,and missing the pomegranate glaze, but they put the seeds on the plate, and the lamb was close to being put back in the field. A meal that was over $200.00, we were very, very disappointed, I feel that this place is geared more to the gamblers, and drinkers. I then verified with the customer service person that took my reservation that I was able to use the dining dollars offered and she said yes absolutely & confirmed my reservation. I finally had the opportunity to dine here and it did not disappoint. The ambience was very chic and elegant. I enjoyed it and it felt unique in comparison to other fine dining establishments. Service was great. It was a little strange having multiple waiters and I'm not sure why it was like that but they were all very kind. They brought out two different breads and one was infused with I believe rosemary and garlic and I loved the bread! Really didn't need any butter. I had the onion rings on recommendation from my coworker and they were excellent! Nice and crispy but not greasy with a nice zesty sauce. The mashed potatoes I felt had too much garlic, just like the ones at Allegany. Me and my friend both had the filet and each was slightly undercooked but not so much it was worth complaining about. I just chose not to eat the couple bites at the center. Other than that it was flavored well. I had mine with the herb butter. I wish they would incorporate a blue cheese butter to their options. But nonetheless it was good. We were really cold in there. We could feel a cold breeze on us and we were dressed in pants and long sleeves. I would recommend to dress warm and bring layers. The steakhouse at the buffalo creek casino is filled with managers who have no idea what management is or what it takes to achieve it. I spent 25 years managing restaurants and I've never seen a group of people this stupid. I had dinner on december 11th and the server settled the check wrong. Not a difficult mistake to make, except, she works for a management team that has no idea how to fix it. I signed for 259.08 on my debit card. They charged me 394.68. The server put the gratuity on the wrong card. So, the useless morons who run this place needed two weeks to fix it.. Today is the 28th of december and they fucked that up too. They reset my payment to the original 259.08 and never credited the 394.68. So instead of over charging me 135.60, they overcharged me 394.68 after they "FIXED" it. so instead of paying 259.08 for two dinners .. I'm paying 653.76..... Do Not, Do not, Do not eat here, these people are indescribably useless. read more

I'm only update my reviews now, but we went last Christmas. Our families do Christmas Eve so the day we have free. But we go for dinner here every now and then. The host has no people skills. She never has a smile or a welcoming attitude. Some people do not belong in business that cater to the public. There are skill sets necessary to work with the public for the sake of the business. That said, the cooking is never consistent in this restaurant. I've enjoyed the shrimp cocktail on one visit, the next the sauce is sparce, the shrimp over cooked. For a steakhouse, the steaks are always dry and either overcooked or undercooked. The mushroom sides use to be fantastic, the last time we ordered them, they were brutal. The short ribs one time were outstanding I couldn't wait to visit again. The next time they were awful, I couldn't finish them, leaving them on my place. Dined here last night during my one night stay at the resort. Restaurant is beautiful and I loved the round booth seating. Our waiter was extremely friendly and took very good care of us. I was feeling a little under the weather so we didn't finish our full meal but our waiter made sure we had to go boxes with plenty of condiments to take with us. My husband and I set reservations here for our 13th Anniversary. It was set at 9pm but when we arrived they were still so slammed we waited about 20mins to be seated. The dress code is very formal no hats, jerseys etc. allowed. Very fancy and beautiful place to dine in for a date night or special event. My wife made a reservation here months ago for our anniversary. They open at 5pm so she booked us for 5:30pm at one of the window tables so we could look out over the casino floor while eating. My wife wanted the lobster and I wanted to try their wagyu steak along with a nice bottle of wine. We were looking forward to a nice dinner and my wife bought new clothes for our anniversary date. Sadly the service was terrible from the moment we arrived. First the maitre d' wasn't very polite upon arrival...first bad sign. When we announced our names for the reservation, he just turned and walked into the restaurant. We were not sure if we were supposed to follow or not so we just walked in behind him where he walked to the back of the restaurant against the wall, farthest seats from the windows. Second bad sign. Note at this time of day the restaurant was not busy and all of the window tables were available as we walked by all of them. We reminded him of the window table request in our reservation and he said "those tables are reserved for large parties arriving tonight". He said he saw the window table in the reservation but didn't make any attempt to meet our request nor try to seat us close to the windows or ask if he could offer another option. Why did we make the reservation if they had no intention of fulfilling it? Third bad sign. At this point my wife said if we don't have a window seat we're not eating here, that was the whole point of the reservation. So we walked out and they lost a $300 customer. We knew we liked the food at the Rainforest Cafe in the Sheraton Hotel so we walked across the street. It's now 6pm and this location is busy. The hostess said it would be 15 minutes. My wife asked if we could have a small table for two near the bar. The hostess said she would check and within 5 minutes we were seated at the best table to view the "animals". That's great service without a reservation and how it should be done. After we ate, we headed back over to the casino to have some fun. We walked by The Western Door and peeked in - still not that busy at 7pm and now we know why. We went down to the casino floor and looked up at the window tables - all of them were still vacant (see attached photo my wife took from the floor). The maitre d' was either incompetent or perhaps expected a monetary boost to get our table. I'm sorry but monetary rewards are based on quality of service, and the service was poor to start. We won't be recommending The Western Door to anyone but we will recommend the Rainforest Cafe. read more

My girl and I were looking for a good steak and found that most of the recommended stops were on the Canadian side. We asked the hotel concierge and she recommended The Western Door. We provided our cell and were texted about an hour later. We were sat at a nice booth. Stephen, out waiter immediately came over. We ordered some club sodas with lime, oysters, and French onion soup to start. Stephen brought out some bread quickly, which was nice and warm. My girl had the pork chop which was cooked well. I had the 10oz boneless ribeye, medium rare. This steak was seasoned perfectly, cooked just right and was fabulously. I was really impressed! This is coming from a guy that eats 2-3 USDA prime large cut steaks per week. We decided to opt for a desert and struggled a bit between the lava cake and gelato. Finally we went with the lava cake, with a scoop of gelato with black cherries. Again, this desert was simple excellent. All the while, we drink a lot of club soda with lime and Stephen did an excellent job making sure we always had our club soda. If you're looking for a great steak--you've found the spot! My husband and I came to celebrate my retirement. What an AMAZING meal it was. We were seated in the best table in the house, and it absolutely was. Overlooking the casino floor. They had 4 other casino view tables as well, but this was divine. Very private. Our server Allyson, was a delightful, sweet and attentive server. As was her partner MaryGrace. Allyson recommendations were on point. Every bite was an experience. We started with the Banana peppers appetizer. A wonderful warm spread of peppers and multiple cheese sauce with crostini. I ordered the Caesar salad and my husband had the wedge salad. Both fresh and delicious. Onto the main course. We both enjoyed the 8oz filet. I chose to make mine Oscar. Really good; there's something special about a wedge, I don't know what it is. We both went with the NY Strip, mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. This continues to be my favorite place to grab a steak in the country. Yes, I said country and I'll tell you why. First, the atmosphere is beautiful. Nothing too stuffy, but beautiful decor, perfect mood lighting, and various options for seating (booths, tables, tables overlooking the casino, bar/bistro seating). I agree with other posters that if you can get a table overlooking the casino it adds to the atmopshere. Something about the glitz and lights! Second, the service. There is generally a tag-team approach to service, which means you never have an empty plate in front of you for long. In the many times that I've dined here, I have never had to ask for a drink refill (unless it was a cocktail). The staff are all fantastically personable and can answer all of your detailed questions (I usually have lots!) about your meal. If you have any questions about what entree to order, they can provide you with extensive information about each cut of meat, appropriate sizes and sides to order, etc. Ask them! Third, the food. WOW! If you want a melt in your mouth filet mignon that requires absolutely nothing else to be amazing (e.g., no sauces, no additional seasoning) this is your place (Hence my photo of my filet mignon completely by itself on its plate...it's that good). You can also order a bone-in filet mignon here (not super easy to find). My steak last night was cooked perfectly, as has always been the case at the Western Door. My dinner companion ordered the scallops (I don't eat them) and indicated that they were absolutely phenomenal. The plating was gorgeous, however. In addition to entrees, there is more deliciousness. Bread and butter service is provided. I am particularly partial to the raisin bread that is included. It's served warm and a little bit of butter makes it perfect. I also ordered the small wedge salad which was quite good (the bleu cheese, crotons, and the pickled red onions really pop!). My resounding recommendation is that you must try the Western Door at least once. You will keep coming back, I promise! Don't let its position inside the resort make you think that its a lesser than resturant. It is not! read more
