One thing I really appreciate is how fast they are. I'm never stuck sitting there forever waiting around. They always get me in and out quickly, which is a huge deal when you're busy. I also want to mention that I've personally never had any issues with communication. Yes, some employees primarily speak Spanish, but there are always staff members available who speak English just fine, and I've never once had a problem getting help or explaining what I needed. The young man at the counter told her they couldn't/wouldn't repair it since "these plugs chemically destroy the rubber". I had never heard of such a thing and have followed this same procedure at least 3 times over the years for different tires at Discount without issue. I checked with both the Tire Industry Association (TIA) and the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) and found this to be a totally bogus and naïve claim. (Can't believe everything you see on TikTok young man). Fortunately, there was a Les Schwab a block away who gladly patched the tire for her. They told her that modern rubber was extremely resilient and the temp plug would have no effect whatsoever. I didn't get to see it but I do understand if it's within an area from the side they can't repair it. There are a ton of pictures and articles that explain this online they even have state requirements. We had another vehicle that had a nail and it was well within the fixable area. Not dead in the middle but a lot closer than to the edge. I made an appointment and after waiting an hour I was told that it was too far and they needed to replace the tire. I asked where it was and he said he couldn't for sure see it but he saw bubbles towards the corner when he dunked it. I think I may have found the problem. It's almost comical, if bubbles coming from the bottom move around they go up! It may look like it's on the side but it's not. Needless to say I put a patch on my own tire and it's working great. No leaks anymore. I am unsure if this is bad training, struggle to find good employees or a strategy to sell more tires.
