Really appreciate them allowing me to book a last minute reservation at 7:45 when they close at 8. They sat me right away and got my food out within 5-10 minutes. The service was friendly and they made sure to check on me a few times even while they were closing up shop. I ordered the Hanger steak which was pretty good! It was cooked well, juicy, and flavorful. It was topped with garlic and butter which helped add even more flavor. Admittedly, it feels overpriced for what you get, especially with it lacking any sides. It felt more like a nice snack than a full sized entree. Nonetheless, I'm sure if you get an appetizer, an entree, and a drink it'll be satisfying (though also costly). It's super conveniently located so you can head right to your seats once you're done eating and you can even hear the performances if the show starts while you're still there. Made a ressie two hours before heading to the Bowl to see a show. Was excited to try this place, as we haven't been before. Arrived at the Bowl and checked into the host stand an hour early and asked to see if it was possible to be seated early. They explained it was likely we would be seated near our time but that they would call me if any thing changes. My family and I waited till our reservation time and then went up to the host stand to check in and the same host asked if I got their call? I said I didn't and they said they called me and repeated my phone number back to me. While they repeated my phone # back to me, my call log showed 0 calls. The person looked at their phone and said oh I must have put it in wrong. I wasn't sure what to say to that so we were left in an odd moment of silence. The exchange felt fake to me. :( The host then took us to a table with a great view and then just as we got to the table they told us to turn around to go to another table in the back. My daughter liked the table as it had a view so we said we'd sit there. Again, odd. The table as with all the tables in the restaurant are closely placed near one another so there is an overall feeling of being cramped. Also, the tables themselves are small and compact. You are really up close and personal with your fellow diners and the noise level of the restaurant is loud. The food we ordered didn't fit on the table itself so we had to constantly move dishes and glasses around the whole time we ate as food was brought to us and stack the dishes to make room. The food comes out as it is ready which was fine but we noted, the table next to us didn't get one of their dishes (we heard because the tables are so close and you hear everyone's conversations). Everything food wise was pretty good tasting with the exception of the tomato rice that came with the sea bass. It was extremely salty and we couldn't finish it. The servers were running around in a rush so we couldn't flag anyone to get it taken care of. While I appreciate that they moved quickly to get you taken care of before show start, it was hard to get anyone's attention because the whole scene here is completely rushed. While the food was alright, I am not inspired to return and probably won't come back. Very cool spot for any pre-show experience people watching! I definitely recommend booking on Opentable beforehand as to not get air to be seated like my boyfriend and I did. The hostess has to be tough to part bounce all the folks who want in! Nevertheless, we got the first table behind the hostess and weee able to watch the action. Booked a rezzy here before the Halsey concert and I really enjoyed it. Venue food is always expensive tbh and since I didn't feel like venturing into Hollywood after parking at the Bowl lot I felt like this was our best best to have a nice sit-down meal before the concert. It was a little tight in here which wasn't super comfy but we made do. We started with the charcuterie plate with lots of yummy sliced meats and grilled bread, so toasty and yummy. I got the focaccia flatbread with goat cheese and prosciutto. It was yummy but also a bit too oily at times. The dough itself was delicious though. Unfortunately, none of us are big wine drinkers so we didn't try it. If I were coming back for another show, I think I would dine here again! The food was filling enough that I didn't need to buy a bunch of expensive snacks from the concession stands and the servers were fast and efficient which was great since we needed to get out of there quickly before the show. This time, however, before seeing John Williams I made it a point to make a reservation for a table through OpenTable. Easy as pie! I got probably the best table in the house for one: Just in the corner closest to the reception stand, with a great view of all the people walking around the Promenade. Got myself started celebrating my birthday weekend with a glass of J. Lassalle Champagne, and that was one healthy pour to be sure! I didn't know they made Champagne flutes that big, heheh! The food was excellent, especially the cumin lamb chops, a dish that surprised us with how flavorful and creative it was. But the fried chicken, though tasty, wasn't as crispy as it should be. A fantastic place to eat and chill before the show! We had a reservation at 6:30pm for the Joni Mitchell concert which was set to start at 7pm. We got there early and had a glass of wine at the bar. The hostess, Meg was phenomenal! She seated us right at 6:30 and our waitress, Mickey, had all of our food out in less than 20 minutes!. One of the best meals I have had in LA! Small plates and the food was incredible. MIckey got us our bottle of wine to take in to the show and we were in our seats before the concert started! Early Dinner Review ... Went to a show at the Hollywood Bowl. To make things easier, decided to arrive early and have dinner at the Wine Bar, which is located near the main entrance to the box seats. Turned out to be a very good decision. Food: Nice meal. While the website describes the Wine Bar as offering small and large plates, the server advised that the dishes are tapas-style ... which makes me think of small plates, but actually found all of the dishes to be on the larger side. 1. Gazpacho with Dungeness Crab in Puff Pastry - The gazpacho was nicely done, balanced and refreshing for a summer day; they added a little fennel which was a very nice touch. Unfortunately, the Dungeness crab was forgettable, and the puff pastry cups were ... hmmm, what's the opposite of light and flaky??? 2. Foie Gras & Chicken Liver Mousse on Toast - The foie gras and chicken liver mousse was great, and the toast was nicely done but a little too thick, which made it difficult to eat. Still, pretty tasty overall. 3. Beet, Goat Cheese & Walnut Salad - Nicely done salad with good amounts of beets, goat cheese, and walnuts ... not overdressed. 4. Duck Confit Tortellini - Really nice dish, light but rich; very, very tasty. 5. Mediterranean Sea Bass - Again, a really nice dish; fish was well cooked, maybe the skin could have been crisper. Note - Mediterranean sea bass (aka branzino) is not to be confused with Chilean sea bass (aka Patagonian toothfish). 6. Espresso - Good way to finish dinner. Service: Friendly and professional. Dishes came out rather quickly and unevenly; had just started on the gazpacho (and my friend had just started on her salad) when the mousse came out; this was followed 15 minutes later by her tortellini, which was finally followed 15 minutes later by my sea bass. To their benefit, I did hear a server tell another table that because the dishes are "tapas-style," they are served simply as the kitchen prepares them. More importantly, I initially felt rushed, but realized that they don't try to turn the tables over and seem content with a single sitting before the show ... and our server actually encouraged us to sit and relax when we were done. Once we were seated and scanned the menu, here was how our first meal of the evening went: Trumer Pilsner - 1 pint ($9.00) - This German style pilsner was wonderfully light and totally refreshing for this warm evening of Tchaikovsky music and eye-popping fireworks. Service - The staff (especially Ezri) was impressively courteous and friendly, more than willing to help answer any question you had about the menu, and was quick to deliver drinks and food once you placed your order. They also checked in on you, cleared any empty dishes, and realized that everyone was on a time limit for when the show started so the check arrived immediately once it was obvious you were done. Parking - Onsite stacked parking that started from $17.00 was available, but do yourself a favor and take one of the many Hollywood Bowl Shuttle services they had around the city ($5.00 roundtrip), like the one I took from the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Atmosphere, décor, ambience - Completely exposed to the outdoors, this place was perched atop the main entrance to the box seats and the first thing you saw as you walked up the main thoroughfare. Ample seating was available along the plexiglass railing that looked out over the walkway, as well as many tables that seated up to four, a row of communal barstools that surrounded a single long table, or if you liked there was seating at the bar/counter. There was a very sterile feel and nary any walls for anything to be hung. Obviously, natural lighting reigned supreme. Been to Ann's twice now and even though it's spendy, it's worth it for a special evening out. The food is delicious (the only thing that was a bit of a disappointment was the curried cauliflower.) The wine selection is very nice. The location feels like a little oasis perched atop the busy walkway--perfect for people watching. And the service is some of the best we've had in a long time--warm and attentive, but not hovering. Being able to actually make a reservation is a plus. My husband and I are big fans! read more

The Hollywood Bowl is an iconic amphitheater in Los Angeles. Usually people bring in food or order at the concession stands. But if you want to make your night a little extra special or just want to experience fine dining while at the Bowl, the Wine Bar is an excellent option. This is a great place to fill up on small bites before a concert. It's fun to people watch as they stroll into the Hollywood Bowl. I tried the Blue Tiger Shrimp (very tasty), Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Fig Jam (simple yet delicious), Duck Confit Tortellini (original and delicious), Lobster Salad (refreshingly light). All were really good dishes, and filling but not heavy. For dessert, I tried the Panna Cotta which was amazing. I got the Jardesca Sonoma with Tonic Water, which was thirst quenching. Wow... I've been to the Bowl for year but have always brought in food. The Wine Bar has changed my mind about doing this again. The food and atmosphere was just amazing! The raw part just did not have the flavor or the texture I wanted in an otherwise great dish that included black eyed pea succotash. The shrimp dish was outstanding. Had a corn based vegetable surrounding with hot peppers that you can pick out if you don't want that much fire. The roasted vegetable dish was good. I was expecting that the roasted vegetables, mainly different types of squash, would be hot or at least warm. I mean I read "Roasted" and just expected "Hot". When you get to the Bowl too late to snag a prime picnic spot, and it's too hot/sunny/crowded to eat and drink at your seats, grab gourmet food and drink at the Wine Bar. Conveniently located near the front entrance of the Bowl, the Wine Bar is a full-service restaurant that offers a varied selection of tasty cuisine, wine, beer and soju cocktails. The open-aired patio has plenty of shaded seats (as well as some in the sun) and is a prime location to people watch as guests enter the bowl juggling their picnics, bags and children. It's relaxing to sit and enjoy a drink while guests frantically enter and race to find a spot to eat. I also always seem to notice someone I know walk by here. You need reservations ahead of time to sit at a table, but their bar is open seating and they usually have a spot. People flow pretty quickly in and out of the bar too, so if there aren't any spots and you're willing to wait a few minutes, you can usually snag a seat. They also serve their food menu at the bar, so you can grab an app or full entree while you drink. My favorite thing about the Wine Bar is their huge selection of wines and beers -- many of them craft and local. The drinks are a bit pricey (it's the Bowl though -- everything's pricey here); however, they have a good price range so you can find a decent beverage for $15. If you run out of wine, they have a great selection. Be prepared to pay at least twice what you would pay on the outside. I suppose that it is in line with what you would pay if you are in a bar, but this is also a wine shop for the Hollywood Bowl and is a bit pricey. It is nice that they have bottles from smaller vitners. On another occasion, I was here for an event and did have some of their bites - they have a wonderful, tender hanger steak with pesto in a little lettuce cup. The tomato and mozzarella wasn't great (weird cheese consistency), but the manchego with quince was great. The bacon wrapped dates were just as you would expect them to be. The wines that they were pouring (Outer Sounds Sauvignon Blanc and Dime Red Blend) were both solid. A great place to grab something at the bowl. A little expensive but look where you are sitting. The cheese plate is good. U can take the food into the venue. Highly recommended. Get to the bowl a little early. Salads look good too. I'm going to try the wings next time. read more

Made a reservation before a Monday night lease event concert (Incubus). We learned the hard way last year that if you go through the concession stands, you'll stand in line forever for substandard fare. The Wine Bar is an open-air patio, elevated over the main walkway. Nice relaxed atmosphere, and our waiter was friendly, professional and attentive. Went in expecting to be over-charged, so we weren't shocked when a nice bottle of Pinot was double+ retail. As others have noted, plates are small and pricey; however, everything we ordered was surprisingly good. Started with the bacon-wrapped dates ($9) and grilled flatbread with roasted tomato ($16). A small serving of dates, but they were so good we ordered a second serving. Our waiter had recommended the Spanish fried chicken ($19), so we went with that and the sea bass with soft herbs and plum salsa ($21). Once again small servings for the price, but well prepared and delicious. Particularly enjoyed the fish, it was perfectly cooked and integrated nicely with the herbs, salsa, coriander yogurt and pistachios. (Note: I didn't keep my receipt, but pretty sure the prices are accurate). We left feeling satisfied and not overfull. Not a cheap dinner - $150 before tip, but well worth it to avoid the concession stands. I'll book the Wine Bar again next concert. read more
