A perfect pre-show dining experience. My recent visit to The Backyard, ahead of seeing LCD Soundsystem and Pulp perform was an amazing experience. We decided to show up early and grabbed dinner there, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the venue. We ordered the Ribeye, a Peach Watermelon Salad, a few sides, and a bottle of Grenache to share with my friends. I have to say the steak was cooked perfectly. The staff was beyond amazing--attentive, efficient, and friendly. The atmosphere was inviting and very relaxing.

As many times as I've been to the Bowl, I never knew this restaurant even existed! A friend recommended it, so my husband and I decided to make reservations two days before our concert. Luckily, I was able to get a spot just in time before the show started. From the photos online, it looks pretty spacious, but in reality, the dining area feels a bit tight. Service was great--very attentive and friendly. The menu, however, is somewhat limited. I ordered the salmon, and my husband had the peach and watermelon salad. The food was just okay--nothing that really wowed me. For me, it was all about the ambiance. Dining with the stage as a backdrop was definitely a unique experience and something worth trying at least once. I don't think I'll dine there again, but I would recommend it to others who haven't been. It's a cool, hidden spot to check off your list before enjoying a concert at the Hollywood Bowl.

Great way to have dinner before a show! The Backyard is inside of the Hollywood Bowl taking the stairs up just above Promenade 1. The restaurant offers a mix of fare from the grill. They're tried and true is the rib eye steak with charred spring onion, domingo rojos, and almond salbitxada ($72.) They offer other entrees from chicken to fish. The swordfish with panzanella alla puttanesca-tomatoes, capers and black olives $45 is an exquisite dish. The service is a little slow so grab a bottle of their curated wines by Caroline Styne from AOC. Make a reservation early enough to hear the musicians warm up as you enjoy dinner.

Great setting and fantastic food. Slightly slow service but the servers and staff do their best. We went for dinner prior to Jesus Christ Superstar and made reservations for 6:45 online. Shuttle from the zoo when they start and we got seated just before our reservation. Wife went with the salmon and I had the rib eye. We added the fried potatoes and had the chocolate torta for dessert. The salmon was great and the steak was cooked very well. Our server was not the one that took our order though. The manager noticed we were just sitting and took our order right away. He must have noticed that we were waiting for a bit and put a rush because we got our food out prior to the table next to us who had been there for a little bit. I think the guy made a comment to the server about that. Paired Cabernet was good. The torta was probably the highlight for me I wish the serving was just a tad bigger. Over a good meal in a convenient location for a night at the bowl.

This is an excellent restaurant inside the Hollywood Bowl. Reservation is strongly recommended. We have reserved every one of our season ticket events for this year. Food is excellent and the ambience is second to none if you want to be almost next to the stage. The ambience is so great that the food tastes so much better just because...LOL.. So, come to The Backyard whenever you are coming to Hollywood Bowl. You won't be disappointed. Oh why only 4 stars, you asked? Too difficult to get a table sometimes, that is why.

Hidden away behind one of the screens is The Backyard at The Hollywood Bowl. The The entrance is behind the popcorn stand, up a few stairway. Super out-sight gem. Our waiter Alex, Ryan Reynolds look alike, was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable of the menu. Every dish he suggested was perfection. The handsome bar tender was on point bring refills at the right time. Ribeye, huge proportion, tender, juicy and with flavors only a wood fire grill can give. The sauce, it's witchcraft pairing with this protein. Lamb, look at my picture. That says it all. The lamb cooked pink in the middle, the sauce elevated this dish with such freshness. I drink the sauce in buckets. Service, food, and ambience, all top notch. And you can't be the location.

Located inside the Hollywood bowl venue. Make reservations so that you are on the premises just before your concert. We were seated right away. Our server seemed to have been in a rush...I could almost hear her tapping her pen on her order pad... The bread app is great. The rib eye was thinner and fattier than most I've had. For $65 I expected a better cut of meat. The Mac and cheese was definitely the star of the dinner They don't offer hard alcohol because they are a city/county park, so they use an alcohol called saba (?) which I think is wine based to make their cocktails. I ordered a $16 mojito that tasted nothing like a mojito. I'd recommend sticking to the wine or beer. I love the convenience but probably won't go back.

A lovely venue to dine at before seeing a show at the Hollywood Bowl. The is full of excitement, people hanging at the bar and others seated dining. You can order a bottle of wine and if you don't finish it, they will give you a bucket and cups to take to your seats. The bread was tasty, be sure to sprinkle a little salt on it. Both the succotash and the ceviche had good flavor. The lamb was okay.. good flavor, the temperature was cooked more than I'd like but it was tender and flavorful. My husband had the seabass. You must make reservations.. this is a hot spot and gets crowded. Felt really rushed by the server to orders. They kept coming by to check on us but it didn't feel like they were checking to see if we were good with everything it felt as tho they were checking to see how long we'd take to finish.

Their menu consisted a huge selection of beer, sausages and dipping sauces for fries. We opted for the Duchesse sour, Dr. Browns Black Cherry pop, Duck sausage, Buffalo sausage, and small fries with curry ketchup. The ambience was great! It felt like a beer hall since it had long tables and benches in the middle, everyone was drinking beer having a great time. There were also smaller cozier tables on the side if you wanted a more intimate space. We enjoyed our drinks and people watched while we waited for our food. The Duchesse red ale sour was really yummy, it was a good balance of sweet and tartness. We got the duck, bacon, and jalapeño sausage with sweet peppers and caramelized onions, the hot dog was delicious!! The sausage was a bit rich but the savory flavours were incredible, it was grilled well with a nice crispy skin and paired really well with the sweet peppers. You also get a huge selection of different mustards to try - yellow, dijon, seeded, honey, brown, you name it, they've got it. The buffalo, cherry and mint sausage was very good as well, but it's a bit more dry and gamey than the duck. The grilled bun is just ok, it's a solid blank canvas to highlight the tasty sausages. The fries are fat boys and seasoned very well. I normally am not a fan of thick fries but these changed my mind, the curry ketchup gave it a nice complexity as well. I just wish they gave you more sauce since the fries are so chunky. :) Had a really fun time overall and can't wait to come back and try their other sausages and beer options.

The arugula prosciutto flatbread needs to be reworked, way too much arugula, not enough prosciutto, and it's bland. Also it would be better with chicken, but why do you have to buy the whole chicken to put on it? The Duck Bolognese was great, but again the meat was hard to find, and the mushrooms were too numerous. The upstairs host Kori was amazing. She was bubbly, kind and super helpful. Now to our waitress, there was a bit to be desired there. My wife felt like with each thing she asked for she was bothering her. ( I will omit her name out of kindness, she may have been dealing with something personal and having a bad day. ) Now to the food. The Drinks, my wife's Paloma was delicious. I had a Makers 46 neat. Very basic whiskey selections but it was good. Our appetizer, the Artichoke dip came out to us tepid after 20 minutes of waiting for it and the chips borderline stale. I had the Bo Burger, the pork belly and aioli carried it. Fries were ok. My wife had chicken milanese it was fantastic, she just had to request extra sauce. Coke Zeros were flat, we sent them back. So my wife had a Proseco and she enjoyed that. Upon putting in the reservation I stated it was my wife's birthday, Kori even asked we told her and I'm pretty sure it was relayed to the serve who said nothing and didn't inquire whether we wanted dessert or offer anything. My wife asked for a box, she put the box on the table and walked away. We had to ask a busser for a bag and a cup for her sauce. He was very sweet, he filled our waters and asked if we needed anything else. The restaurant charges a 5% fee for the team, you can decline it. We didn't. I even still gave the server a respectable tip. Sadly she could have received twice as much because I used to serve when I was much younger. My wife is a Dorector in the Hospitality industry and she loves giving extra. I understand the struggle but if she was as charismatic as Kori she could make more and really add to the restaurant. Needless to say we will not make the hour and 15 minute drive again.
