Ugh. The good (shortest part of this review) - pizza is pretty solid overall. Not exceptional, but fine. But the last thing we need in that state of CT is another pizza joint. The rest - terrible and we will never be back. Service - totally clueless. I support giving high school kids a shot, but perhaps train them to learn the menu, be confident, clear dishes, ask for drink orders first, be attentive/check tables, etc. And perhaps actually have some clue what the food is like so if you are asked a question you can have at least a guess of an answer. Had to send up a signal flare to get anyone to even look vaguely in our direction. The menu is huge and looks to have a lot of great opts, but a total miss (at least as to what we ordered). We ordered a few fried things (chicken as part of a buffalo chicken salad, fried calamari, kids chicken fingers) - none of it was even vaguely crispy--tasted like bread crumbs kinda just soaked in warm oil. Fried in a restaurant should be fried up crispy! It is like none of the chefs/owner ever even bothered to taste test. Was soggy and useless. Their "maple bacon meatballs" - decent taste, but some kind of horrid fake cheese sauce and the meatballs themselves tasted like Trader Joe's frozen (best part was the well done bacon bits on top). The salads (all of them, including the house) have an incomprehensible amount of red onion on them. I like red onion just fine, but who in the kitchen thought, "I have an idea, let's put an ENTIRE red onion shaved on a $5 house salad." Check was brought without even an opt of dessert - and the fun part is, the receipt still reads "Attillios" - just shows and overall lack of attn to detail. And the usual complaint what feels like every restaurant in the Farmington Valley = horridly unclean bathrooms. Get some Clorox wipes and clean it top to bottom please! All around/under/in/next to sink has black grime. I'll leave the rest to your imagination. I'll stay home next time. read more

Unfortunately my opinion of Attillio's has gone down. This is one of the first restaurants we experienced when we moved to Simsbury. The waitress was very welcoming and nice and the food was fine. My husband really liked his pizza, and I had the chicken marsala. It was fine, not great. Another trip we ordered a pizza. It took quite a while and then the pizza was the wrong kind. We can forgive that. But when the next pizza came, it was still the wrong pizza. For the love. Our next trip we waited for 45 minutes and nothing had come out. Our kids were pretty hungry at this point, and so were were. We finally decided to move on. The waitress said she was new and blamed it on the kitchen, then a guy came out and blamed it on the new waitress...this kind of thing is unnecessary and inappropriate. A friend recommended Atillio's pizza to me. He said it was the best he had ever tasted. After our first ( and most likely last) order, I am questioning his sanity. My wife and I ordered two small pizzas. The first Hawaiian pizza and the second a small pizza with chicken and broccoli. Both we're dry and lacked taste. The fact that they put bacon on a Hawaiian instead of ham should have been enough to return it; however we made a good attempt at eating it. It was "ok" at best. The chicken on the other pizza was cubed, sparse and very dry. Our daughter ordered a meatball sub which fell apart...the meatball was full of breadcrumbs and "mushy". Gross. I dined at this location when it was the original Apollo's and then when it was first renovated and it was very good. I dined there after it was taken over by Attilos and the service and the food left a lot to be desired. I ordered a salad and chicken marsala to go. When I arrived at the restaurant, I asked if they has included some bread and was told they didn't usually do that on togo dinners. HMMM, I was asked if I wanted bread and said yes. Glad I insisted as it was the best part of the meal. When I got home and opened to togo container, the chicken "marsala" has a layer of yellow grease on the top layer of the pan and had no marsala flavor. It was truly disappointing. read more

Pizza - good grief. Epic FAIL. 0/5. This stuff was worse than dominoes/Little Caesers. Come on guys...seriously!?!?Crust had absolutely NO flavor. There was bacon on it but you could not taste it very much. They also had this thick layer of creamy white cheese stuff on top of the mozzarella. think hot cream cheese. Just go to Little City, Joes Pizza, or Gio's in East Granby. Heck, buy a frozen pizza. Service - 1/5. Server seemed knowledgeable about the menu, but it seemed like she was miffed about something. There seems to be a bunch of mixed reviews here. I came to Attilios after I bought a groupon deal for a pizza and salad combination. Now I have never been the Apollo's or Attilios at their old location so I don't have anything to compare them to like most of the reviewers here. Food wise they are great. The large pizza here is a great value in my opinion. I've tried four of their specialty pizzas so far and they were all delicious. I'm not a pizza snob or expert but I have had my fair share of crap pizzas when I was a broke college student and their pizza is definitely not crap. I liked everything so far. Attilios is a bit out of my way and I have been back four times in the past 6 months or so. If you are skeptical based on the reviews, go buy a groupon and save yourself a few bucks and try their pizza. They are also insanely accommodating as well. I'm a little picky about my salads and toppings in general no matter where I go. Attilios has always accommodated to my requests with no problem. read more

When first getting pizza here we were very impressed. The gourmet pizzas were delicious. We especially loved the balsamic onions on the mushroom pizza and the sweet sausage red pizza. However the last two times we ordered the toppings were very scarce. The mushroom pizza had over two inches around the rim with no topping at all and the sausage pie had just a few pieces of meat on it. Attilio's is not my choice for pizza (but there are soooo many pizza places in town, it's got an unfair amount of competition, but there are sooo many things on their menu that I LOVE, and they deliver, so we choose Attilio's quite a bit! You can't go wrong with any of their salads (which we order frequently), but sometimes the Caesar is a little bit too lemony The salads are huge; the Cobb is a homerun. The Paninis are terrific, especially the Caprese & Roast Beef ones! For entrees, my husband & I many times share the Chicken Marsala and the Bolognese over Orecchiette - I think they are just delicious! I called and ordered a pizza and a small tuna grinder with only lettuce and cheese. I took a bite and it had bell pepper which I'm allergic too. I called to get a credit....the young woman who I called didn't place me on hold and complained to her manager that I didn't say no peppers. When I called and ordered from her?!? What? I asked for a tuna grinder with only lettuce and cheese? Should I read all your ingredients and say I don't want them? When I told the manager I heard the dialogue between him and his employee because I wasn't placed on hold and heard how I was the dumb lady ordering ...he said well you know how teens are....she's just home from school. !!! To which I said, I have a teen who is returning from school this weekend and she also works at a local restaurant and they would NOT tolerate this response and she wouldn't act that way anyway and oh! Ordered take out tonight as we were all to grumpy from the day to eat in :) Food was excellent, potato skins had a lot of potato left in the skin so they were pretty filling on their own. Crab cakes and pasta with sausage and white beans were good, but the pulled chicken pasta with cajun tomato cream sauce was excellent. While in the area answering an online ad (not that kind), my wife and I took our 15 month old daughter to Attilio's upon recommendation from Yelp and we were not disappointed! We didn't know where to start because there were so many delicious choices but I started with outstanding smoky white bean sausage soup which was amazing. Our waitress was so understanding about my wife's gluten allergy and there were plenty of options from gluten free pizza to sandwich/burger rolls and I believe every salad was GF. The cook even mistakenly served her burger with a regular bun and our waitress caught it and refired another burger with the correct GF roll. She was very apologetic and even gave us two coupons for our next visit. You don't get that kind of customer service everywhere! Because I'm fat, I'm on this stupid diet so I had to settle for a salad but when my delicious chopped wasabi salad arrived (I added salmon) I was very excited because it was delicious and it didn't make me hate my selfish, in shape wife for ordering a gorgeous cheeseburger with fries and a gluten free Bolognese and Ricotta GF pizza. Along with that we enjoyed two delicious margaritas that were being offered for a co-worker who had fallen ill and part of the proceeds were going to him. I've had quite a few margaritas in my day, and this one added watermelon liquer and if we didn't have the baby I would have had 5 more and gotten an Uber cause they were booze-tastic! All in all it was a great experience and the food was on point in a relaxed, chill place with a nice flat screen TV that had sports on and our waitress was super nice and I can't even imagine how cool this place is on a Saturday night when you have a babysitter, and they have candles going and mood lighting and not on a diet and you can get so many amazing apps and a big ass bowl of delicious pasta and pizza and go into a carb coma and drink amazing drinks and maybe stuff your food-hole with a dessert pizza. The new owners have no idea how to go the extra mile. Food is below average and they even forgot a key ingredient in a take out order for us. It's a matter of time before they go under. Beyond disappointed that they can't make a decent grinder and went lame on the amount of meat in it. Just had a hot grinder for lunch and it was not great. The bread was lousy and barely heated up. We had a jumbo pretzel, which was really great, but the pizza left a lot to be desired. It was soggy, and the bacon was barely cooked. Not appetizing at all. We also never got full sized plates and had to use small bread plates. The waitstaff was barely seen, which is surprising when we were one of only two tables. They didn't once come over to ask how everything was and we had to call them over to refill our drinks. So, I guess, if you want a good pretzel, this is the spot. OMG Great Pizza, and they deliver!!! First time we tried the wings and the Italian Sausage specialty pizza. I am from Jersey and very picky about my pizza, love thin crispy crust. The pizza was delicious. We also tried some of their wings, though I was struggling as to which flavor was which. We have also gotten their sandwiches, (again delivered!!, extra star). Wayne got their Italian job, which he stated was the best sandwich in a long time. I got a chicken caesar wrap which was good, (though delivery helped it to taste even better.) We did a pick up from Attilio's on Saturday. Overall it was good. The Bacon Bleu burger was huge and very tasty. My son really enjoyed his Chicken Caesar wrap. My wife and daughter thought the Chicken Parm sandwich was good nothing out of the ordinary. The house cut fries were really good. The only issue was the pickles were loosely wrapped in paper and soaked through a sandwich wrapper and, more importantly, the bottom of the bag. Everything smelled like pickles but was still good. We called to let them know so the didn't do the same to other orders and they were very receptive. All in all a good experience. Maybe we'll do the pizza next time. We ordered food here because we wanted to try something we hadn't before. It offers gluten free options as well. I cannot eat gluten because of an illness, so I felt comfortable trying them. When my husband picked up our order (take out) he asked several times if the selection that I made was gluten free, and the counter person said yes. When we sat down to eat, I had taken a bite, only to realize that the food was NOT gluten free. We called the restaurant and who ever answered said that the message never got to the kitchen because they had a new guy and he was sorry. If a restaurant offers GF selections on their menu, the staff better be darn prepared to make, serve, and stand behind their products. Allergies are extremely serious and should NOT be taken lightly! I will NEVER eat here again! And I've told all of my friends as well. My family also had horrible meals, and we threw half of it away. read more

I Called and asked about if they were still serving Apollo's pizza. Hoping for the best, but expecting the worst- I got the latter, being told "No, it's brick oven now and BETTER" by the young woman on the phone. From my perspective (and many others I've spoken with) Apollo Pizza existed as a Simsbury institution for 25+ years with George and Gino running the show- BAD IDEA bad mouthing a long-lived local favorite. The pizza was generic brick oven pie with a sauce that had an out-of-the can tomato paste flavor. Crust was so-so with oregano/italian seasoning (totally misplaced seasoning here!). I tried to like it- really, just for some sort of silver lining- but nope- it was just bad. Little City is probably the place to go in town now. The crew eating the pie had, collectively, eaten Apollo's hundreds of times. It's a sad day in Simsbury. Brick ovens and hip chalk boards of craft beer offerings cannot replace what, to many, was the best pizza in existence. If it ain't broke, don't fix it- the new ownership should have figured that out before running head first into a brick oven and wall. read more

I miss apollos so much. We used to eat outside at maple tree and been to many functions inside as well. The food at Atillios is not as good as apollos was. We often find ourselves ordering plain items that "can't get messed up" or sending items back as inedible. We used to order pizza from Atillios at their old location and loved it. Now its not the same. How can it not be the same 5 miles down the road? Even though apollos had changed ownership over the years I never felt the food suffered. I now miss apollos greatly. You have to ask for fettuccine pasta with the fra diavolo? Isn't it just fish soup without the pasta? Again the chicken Marsala marginal, tastes great but chicken tough and on top of mashed potatoes??? This is Italian? The only thing Atillios has is a great location and Sophia. Ok, Simsbury resident that always supports local and really kind of miss the old Antilio's on the town line. Tonight I ordered gyro which was real lamb however it was very dry my wife ordered chx buffalo salad and chicken was large pieces of fried chicken with buffalo sauce, could not really tell if they made it or it was a frozen fried product. Not very impressed with tonight's dinner. The biggest problem with every time I eat there is the noise! Way too loud! Open floor plan with tin ceiling really does not make for an enjoyable evening. Not to mention a soccer team was eating as well, not their fault but very load due to the design / layout of the restaurant. Beer was very good and fresh. I work close by and decided to take advantage of the Groupon they were offering...which was extremely generous ($30 towards carry out). I ordered the veggie wrap which was amazing!! Fresh, not soggy and served with a balsamic glaze which was delicious. Sweet potato fries were not greasy at all. My husband got the apollo special pizza with the buffalo bbq wings and raved about both. No complaints. I picked up my order around 5:30 on a Friday night and was surprised at how empty it was. The food pics posted looked the best so I ordered right from the app. Delivery didn't take long and food was fresh and hot.
