I spoke to an employee and they told me they got a new owner recently and he changed a few things to his recipe. The food was very good! Definitely recommend going to it. The service was good too! The workers are really friendly!

First are the Cambodian women who ladled out the food. They are fun and sweet and bright. They were polite but strict to a homeless woman who came in and told her to leave and come back at closing and they would give her some food. They manage to get more food in their containers than I thought possible and order fresh batches the second the food get stale. There is usually a line because it is the best bargain for decent food you will find. You always have leftovers. MUCH SMALLER PORTIONS ON BOTH OF MY TWO ITEM COMBOS. Remembering the food was so generous before and the price was extremely reasonable. I understand we've all been through a lot and small businesses are struggling, HOWEVER, it's a double shock to see an increase in price (from $8 to $12) AND a decrease in portion. Came here for the first time, I will never come to this location again. I walked in to pick up food for my friend. There's a big sign that says that the shrimp dishes will be cooked to order but does not list the prices under it or near it. I went to order a plate with half chow mein and half fried rice with orange chicken with honey shrimp. When I told the employee what I wanted, she scoffed and pointed at the sign and said that it was made to order. The employee was very annoyed with me and was rude to me when I was trying to ask her questions if I could substitute the shrimp for one of the entrees for an upcharge. I realize now that I did not read the second line of the fine print but she did not need to be that rude to me. I initially apologized and told her that it was my first time there. I had just gotten off of work after a long day and I was tired which is why I didn't even notice it saying that the shrimp dishes were separate from the plates. She and the other employee there gave me a look that made me lose my appetite. I ended up getting my friend a plate with orange chicken and half and half. I will never come here again, it's my first AND last time. I wish I got their names to include it in this review. The only two positive things I'll mention are the store's overall cleanliness and good portion size. Lucky Chinese Food off of Brookhurst and Ellis is way better. 2019 was my last review and it was and still is a 5 star for me. The lines can be long, but the food is worth it. The serving sizes are large and always fresh. The counter staff is efficient and they are handling delivery food orders while serving customers. I do not usually write reviews like this but it is deserved and hope it helps others in their decision to order from The Wok Experience. I hadn't eaten here in several years and it has greatly declined in the quality and taste of the food. I had been craving Chinese food for weeks and since the place I usually order from was closed I ordered from The Wok Experience through Uber Eats. I ordered the Tofu Eggplant and Vegetables with fried rice and chow mein (2 entree plate) and an order of Cream Cheese Wontons. The quality, flavor and taste of the food was awful. it both looked and tasted old, like it had been made days in advance. It had no flavor, the veggies were soggy sitting in a pool of water and the cream cheese wontons had a very strange smell. That said, I could not eat the food nor did I feel safe eating it or offering it to a homeless person so it was thrown out. I will not order from this restaurant again and do not recommend. There are several other Chinese restaurants in the area and/or available for order on the food delivery apps. read more
