The bagel itself was pretty good and the cream cheese was very tasty but the bagel wasn't toasted and somewhat mushy. The place was really cute and has a lot of potential but Staff was rude and Unaccommodating. We asked for toasted bagels and they gave us slightly warmed bagels. When I asked for them to be retoasted, they rolled their eyes and said they were toasted. I then asked if they could be toasted twice and they scoffed and remade our order, but ended up giving us the same Luke warm prepared bagels. At least the Scone was good. read more

I came in on a Saturday. First time here. Judging by the crowd on this busy Saturday I figured I was in for a treat. The food was good but the table and the floors were very dirty. I interacted with three of the employees. Every one of them was curt, condescending, and seemed to be bothered to have to wait on me, or tell me where the napkins were! Please people, if you hate your job, pull yourself up by the bootstraps and get another one! So overall food was good, service was grouchy. Love this place. I stop in sometimes during my lunch break, and really enjoy their egg & cheese breakfast bagels with ice coffee. Their bagels are the best and they have many different kinds of cream cheese to choose from. Other sandwiches I've tried in the past were also very good. It has a nice atmosphere, there is some outdoor seating, and the hardworking people are generally upbeat and friendly. Next time you're on Main Street looking for bite to eat, I highly recommend stopping in. read more

This is my first time here. The people are super nice and the decor is very up-to-date. The location is right in downtown. I've become severely allergic to certain dairy products so I'm always on the lookout for a good replacement for cream cheese. They have a veggie tofu spread that is out of this world! We've been coming here for years during vacations up to New Hampshire and we were pleasantly surprised to see the new facelift! The inside looks fresh and modern with the new renovations and luckily the food remained as good as always! Feeling inspired by their change, I decided to stray from my reliable "build your own" turkey sandwich and go for the Indian Summer Quinoa Bowl and added some avocado to it. It wasn't my favorite dish but it certainly wasn't terrible by any means and I would still order it again! It's just the right size to be very filling without weighing you down. Though sadly I write today, because I've been in nearly 1/2 dozen times over the last 2 weeks, at varying breakfast times, and they are ALWAYS out of my favorite bagel (cheddar jalapeño). They say "oh sorry, it is one of the most popular flavors". I understand this, but seeing as I never come in after 10am, why not make an extra batch if it is so popular?! I've driven over 20 mins for breakfast, only be let down, time and again. Luckily I found a local competitor that also sells the same product. I have been coming here for years, and their is one man who always takes my order, I think he is the owner or manager because he is in a different shirt. He is just miserable, every time. He is so rude, you can tell he hates his job or life. I think his attitude effects the whole staff, they always look unhappy. It stinks because I like the bagels, but I don't like that guy. Einstein Bros is good too, and the staff is way better. The works needs an attitude adjustment, or new management. read more

Good coffee is the only thing this place has to offer. I would get it to go. Some of the staff are pleasant however not all the staff we dealt with were pleasant. The bagels are "bread in the shape of bagels". The table we sat at appeared not have been cleaned/washed in awhile, we were there at 10 am so I can't imagine it got this dirty since opening that day The table top was loaded with greasy finger prints and sticky spills. My mom was very excited to go to the works and get one of her favorite items the broccoli cheddar soup. We rode in the car and got home to discover a fly in her soup. Tried this place three times over the past couple of months. Twice for breakfast, once for lunch. The first breakfast consisted of bacon, cheddar and egg on a "works" bagel. The only upside to the ridiculous wait (both before ordering and after) was watching the kid behind the counter try to assemble the bagel; needing to refer to the order tab repeatedly--how difficult is it to remember: egg, bacon, cheddar, on a everything bagel? The result: a microwave-like rubber egg with drippy, uncooked, and soft bacon on a much-too-dense (seemingly stale) bagel. Coffee station was a mess. On my second foray, once again for breakfast, I ordered the bacon, avocado and quinoa power bowl. No wait at the register this time, but still the comedy of watching the guy behind the counter assemble it. First of all, he looked like he didn't belong--more like he's should be the absentee owner--but then it was the need to constantly refer to a small, business card-sized cheat sheet that told him how to make it: add 2 ounces of spinach greens; read card again; add 2 halves of boiled egg; read card again; add appropriate weight of bacon; oops, too much, remove some from the bowl; etc, etc. The result: I can do a lot better at the Hannaford's Salad Bar. Once again, coffee station is dirty. Today, gave it a try for lunch. STRIKE THREE! Ordered the mozzarella sandwich. Again: THE WAIT!! The result: By the time I got back to my office three minutes away, it was a drippy, soggy mess on a rubbery, hard piece of fake french bread with small piece of mozzarella and not-so-fresh spinach. Coffee station: no change. Overall: OVERPRICED, NOT-SO-GOOD. If you want to feel good about buying local and organic ingredients, there's better places to spend your money. If you want to buy better food, try pretty much anywhere on Main Street in Concord. read more

Fresh made bagels, cream cheese and coffee - nothing could make me happier at the crack of dawn. The staff participates in the experience and the end result is delicious. My regular order, through constant bombardment of secular experience always results in the rosemary olive oil bagel with olive cream cheese. Not sure what that says about me as a person, but it makes me happy as a consumer. Eat here and be satisfied. read more

Bagels are good and service is quick. You may have to repeat your order multiple times in order to ensure that they get it right. I have asked for an untoasted bagel on three different occasions only to be given a toasted bagel. I know it's busy, but a little better attention to detail will make this place a 5 star. read more

Excellent, fresh, local, and healthy food. They don't always have the best phone manners if you call ahead with your order ("You want a cold sandwich in 15 minutes? We'll see if we can get to it"). Despite grumbling on the phone, they have always had my sandwich done when I did call ahead, but having been grumbled at multiple times has made me tend to call someplace friendlier when I know I will be rushed and need to order ahead. read more

Previously called Bagel Works. I have been there numerous times over the years while visiting friends. Good food, good coffee, convenient location. We normally grab breakfast/coffee on-the-run but have also eaten both breakfast & lunch there. With the newly re-vamped Main St. area there is now room for tables outside. Nice in the summertime. The bagels & food are always good. Nice selection of sandwiches (I normally order the Dagwood on sourdough). Staff is friendly & courteous. Just a nice local place. read more

Stopped in here on a Saturday at lunch time (someone else noted how few places in downtown Concord are open on Saturday). Only to be presented with a line almost out the door because there was a film festival going on in Concord that weekend. To my amazement the line moved very quickly and within 7 minutes we had our order (you can drink some of their good, strong coffee while you wait). And the staff is very friendly and accommodating and FAST -- not intimidated at all by the hungry crowd. On to the food: I had something called Huevos Hamcheros, which is a sandwich on a wrap with egg, cheese, "naturally cured" ham (no nitrates) and salsa. Perhaps one of the top 10 sandwiches I've ever had. She had a bagel with garlic peppercorn cream cheese (i'm not kidding). Obviously had to have a bite -- also amazingly good. Close to NYC bagels. Well, pretty close. Really nice place to sit, exposed brick, high ceilings, arches. Yup, as good as it gets. read more
