I love a hotel bar and 15 extra points if its super fancy! I felt like the ultimate princess sitting at the St. Regis bar. Arrived on a whim at around 6pm on a weekday and found a nice seat at the bar top. They have these little orb lights that can't be moved. Sitting in front of one takes some bar space away from you, so I changed seats to get a few more inches of space. Emilio the bartender was mega friendly and went over some items on the menu. He also told me I was right on time for the saber champagne presentation -more on that in a sec. For drinks, I ordered the Hibiscus Spice and the Paradise cocktail. Both were super fruity and delicious! I had a great time sipping on this while chatting it up with a few folks at the bar. To nibble, I can never say no to ahi tuna tartare and this one was great! The most interesting little wafers, ahi tuna with some avocado cream and a little spicy sauce. I absolutely devoured these! So good! Now for the best part, the champagne presentation! A gentleman gave a little info session on on how this process is done and at the end he took a giant to a bottle of champagne to open it. Really Cool! What made this even better was that everyone at the bar got to snag a complimentary glass. What a treat! Super cute little hour of so sitting at the bar at the St. Regis. Breakfast review here.. Food (4.5 star) + Truffle omelette comes with tasty sliced potatoes that are crispy on the edges and soft inside. There is a nice cheesy outer layer with a fluffy and somewhat yolky interior. Truffles are a nice touch but barely noticeable in taste. + Kids breakfast for $20 is nearly an adults portion. Their hash brown is a bigger slice of that tasty potato with a cheesy top. Service (2 stars) - Today is not a good day for the staff here. An upscale bar in a beautiful, fancy 5-star hotel in the heart of San Francisco. I love the interior designs and furniture. Saw a lot of people sitting at the table and sofa area ordering high tea, probably will comeback to give it a try someday but my visit was short and headed straight up to the bar. Bar setup was bright and nice, you can definitely have a lot of aesthetic pictures taken at this place. Their bar menu have a lot to offers, I saw some cocktails with gold flakes and even caviar, of course those come with the $$$ price tag lol. Should have tried their specialty cocktail but since I was in a hurry my visit at the bar was quite short, only 15-20mins before I headed out but the service was friendly, our bartender know we were short on time so he quickly made an Espresso Martini and Tropical Sunshine for us. The St Regis bar is one I've frequented religiously for years now. The staff are some of the finest people you'll find in any SF establishment. Joe, Jose, and Ricardo have been behind the bar for years and are a part of the appeal of paying a visit. The cocktails are always excellent and the bartenders go above and beyond to make sure your experience is a good one. The octopus is one of my personal favorites on the food menu. Highly recommend letting the bartender know your spirit of choice and trusting in them to lead you in the right direction! If you're looking for a special experience, arrive prior to 6PM for a traditional champagne saber! I've had my fair share of afternoon teas in SF and London and was initially weary of this location after reading some mix reviews, but decided to give it a try anyways. St. Regis, definitely did not disappoint and is now my favorite afternoon tea spot in SF (savory, sweets, service, ambiance). I took my BFF here to celebrate her birthday and we opted for the regular tea without the alcohol $69/person (before tax and tips). AMBIANCE: The tea is in the hotel lobby/bar area which has very modern and clean vibe. We were seated at parallel sofas with a coffee table in between us giving it a very relaxed and chill vibe, but also a little weird to eat with such a low table. TEA/FOOD: We were given different types of tea leaves to sniff and choose from. The tea came in a French press and a set of timers, which was pleasantly new to me. The savory and sweets came out at the in a beautifully presented triangle display with a colorful array of small assorted bites. Unlike, a lot of afternoon tea places, they had a variety of savory bites - not just sandwiches. They were all very food and flavorful, though pretty small. I enjoyed all the sweets! Every single one! All the high tea places I've been to, either underwhelmed me with at least 1-2 of their selections or just had overly sweet pastries. We especially enjoyed their jalapeno corn bread with corn cream. The only thing missing from their selection are scones! They offered jam and cream, but no scones! Where are the scones? SERVICE: 10/10. Our server went above the beyond for our service! Very attentive and friendly. Verdict: Had a great experience, but for $69+ we expected at least some additional scones. It's been awhile. We came back for a quick stay! Pop up dinner for GoZu SF Restaurant (soon to be open by chef Marc Zimmerman, former Guy Savoy Vegas and Alexander's Steakhouse SF), the pop up was at AVERY. Plus I got some meeting with the Automation Conference, literally flew back from Miami, got home to Silicon Valley for 3 hours and drive up to San Francisco for this! Much needed a drink and St Regis Lobby Bar Barman Eric cane to rescue. Sorter cocktail list now. But Eric was able to whipped up a Mezcal Spicy drink for me! My bestie had a foo foo girly cocktail which she loved it! Kale salad and chicken snack dish to save our bellies from making unbearable noises! We then came back later for another round! Eric was attentive, genuinely asked how was our dinner! Later Barman Jose helped us with another round of delish cocktails too! The bar was jam packed with midfield aged and elderly white men, HA! This is my sis's token "let's meet up for cocktails" before dinner go-to spot. Thus, I'm spoiled. S.O. and I waited for the sis to arrive... we managed to get a couch and that's surprising for a Saturday night. Service is prompt and friendly... I ordered two sidecars for the sis and I and the S.O. just had a Stella. They give you almonds... Asian crackers and deep fried edamame while sipping on your drink. Our sidecar wasn't good BUT they do have Hanger One so they're awesome in my book! We'll be back for sure! read more

I love the seating choices in their lobby bar!! They've got the bar seating, two party tables, couch/lounge seat for bigger groups. As expected, their cocktails were $14-18 each. They've got wine, champs, cocktails, beer, and even dessert drinks. Beers are about $9-11 I think. We didn't try any of their appetizers because we wanted to save our appetite for dinner. I ordered La Pisco. Mine was somewhat strong, which I liked. I sipped on it cause I can't hang anymore lol. Mine was for sure better than what my bf got. Boyfriend ordered a La Pistola. His had one large cube of ice and one slice of jalapeno. I didn't like his at all. My friend and her fiance ordered beers. They provide complimentary snacks--- spicy cheddar popcorn and corn nuts in cute little bowls. After we had dinner, we sat at the bar to watch the last quarter of the Warriors game. Such a cute but classy place to grab a drink. Was having dinner at Ame last Wednesday as an early Father's Day celebration and had some time to kill before my reservation. Grabbed a seat on the couch in front of the fireplace. Our waitress was on it and quickly got us a menu and snacks. The complimentary snacks were an Asian snack mix. We got a glass of Schramsberg blanc de blancs north coast 2011 ($17) and a Jack daniels and diet coke ($14). You are at the St Regis so the drinks aren't cheap. This review is solely for the lobby bar, as I have not stayed in one of the rooms! My friend spoke very highly of this place and asked if I wanted to come by on a Thursday afternoon. To my surprise, there were a lot of people for 3pm. Decor is modern and classy much like other hotel lobbies. It was very bright and roomy. I wasn't able to try the afternoon tea set but I did try their teas, snacks, and desserts. Maybe next time! I tried their English Breakfast tea and I love that they give you an actual tea press and with refills!! I was pretty hungry so I ordered their fried chicken tenders but it was quite good. The desserts were definitely the highlight!! The opera cake was to DIE for.... It's rare that places really nail their opera cakes. We also ordered the orange? mousse cake. I normally don't order something like this but my friend really recommended it and it was nice. I will definitely be back to try their afternoon tea sets though!! read more

A disappointing Afternoon Tea experience. Though Milan, the Server, went above and beyond for his excellent service. Food quality however was horribly disappointing. At $69 a serving, the pastry quality is beyond poor. Among the cakes in the tea serving, the roll cake was stale, cream topping wasn't fresh; the bacon in small croissant bite was simply disgusting! Fruits in the fruit tart were dehydrated. There was also a shrimp wrap and it was loose and fallen apart the moment it was picked up. The list went on:( The restaurant bar is in a nice hip setting. ST REGIS HOTEL is my favorite hotel in San Francisco. It always proves to be a place of serenity, elegance, first class service and hospitality. I have a tradition of visiting the SFMOMA, so having the St. Regis next door makes for a quick and easy visit. The hotel room and bathroom are spacious. There is a desk and vanity area, as well as spacious closets. The feel is modern, streamlined, and the hotel atmosphere is subdued and peaceful. By the way, the hotel is a few blocks away from Yank Sing, my favorite place for dim sum! Win-win!! One of their services I'm looking forward to trying is their version of Afternoon Tea. I have a yearly tradition where the day after Thanksgiving I have high tea with friends. This was the first time that I reserved the St. Regis for our holiday tea and it will be the last holiday tea that I have there. When I called to make the reservations I specified the seating that I wanted. The individual at the reservations desk advised that it wouldn't be a problem. When I received the confirmation call I verified the seating again and advised of a seafood allergy. It was weird that the holiday menu had all seafood tea sandwiches and not one traditional tea sandwich. When my friends and I showed up they had us seated in the wrong area and definitely with the wrong server. She comes over to take our order I advise that only 2 are having the full tea services and 2 were just having tea. She looks at us and didn't know what to say??? Annoying.....I confirm with her that there is a seafood allergy and that I will just take the traditional tea service instead of the holiday menu.... again blank stare...uhm yea this is when the server is suppose say " yes I do see that there is a note specifying a seafood allergy".... "your tower will be right out"....instead she said that she didn't know if it could be replaced......huh!@&#...not to mention that both menu options were posted on the website as well as the reservationist sent me the PDF for both Holiday and Traditional Tea menus. I requested for the manager to come over because I wasn't getting anywhere with clueless. The manager comes over, I had to explain it again. He's trying to explain how it's suppose to be..... which is something different than what was confirmed with me...... I told him that we were on our way to dinner after tea so we only wanted 2 towers. I could appreciate his suggestions but at some point you have to know when to quit while you're ahead. He said since we didn't want 4 towers for there. He could have 2 packed to go......Da Fuq. So...what? We're supposed to pay $140.00 for you to box up 4 sandwiches and a few sweets. Not to mention, there wasn't going to be any tea included and carry this to dinner with us and by the time we get home it's either mush or hard as biscuits?.....What a joke. Except I didn't laugh. Ok so we finally start our tea service, nothing special... (some things are meant to stay simple and be perfected )we probably should have left after our first cups of tea because our server took an extremely long time to refresh our hot water. It's like she didn't want to or knew how to serve us and tried to leave us hanging, like we would just go away....so again we didn't go away, we just won't be back. 2 other servers assisted us and were very nice and quick. This review is for their Chinese New Year afternoon tea service and their champagne sabering evening ritual. I learned early this year that St Regis offers high tea service at their lobby bar. My friend and I love high teas and made reservation to try right the way. It was the Chinese New Year celebration month therefore the high tea menu was special with Chinese dim sums. We were excited about the Chinese New Year special high tea menu. Unfortunately the dim sums did not meet our high expectation. The flavors were delicious. The ingredients tasted fresh and the dim sum wraps/buns tasted housemade. The only disappointing element of these dim sums is the thick dim sum wraps/buns. They looked good, just not delicate nor tasted delicate the quality dim sums my friend and I anticipated. I love their selections of teas and our waiter's service that day! He was courteous and patient with my questions for the teas they serve. The pastries/scones/macaroons/finger sweets were delicious! I would definitely go back for their regular high service menu. We also learned that day about their champagne sabering evening ritual on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 6pm. It was fun watching the champagne sabering ceremony. I normally wouldn't come here, but a friend was staying here for the week so we went to grab a drink and some dessert. The level of service and accommodation and the ambiance of the bar is top notch. It is a classy place and they will do all that they can to make your visit pleasant. The lobby bar is way overpriced and not really worth it. Simple mixed drinks are in the mid to high teens as far as price. I got a moscow mule that wasn't very tasty. Whatever they used for the ginger component was not very good at all, I would not get that drink again, it was very disappointing and my friend had the same and thought the same as I did. read more

This review is for afternoon tea, which is offered everyday from 2-4pm with at least 24 hour advance reservations. They will take a credit card number when you call, ask if you have any food allergies, and inform you of their 24-hour cancellation policy to avoid any charges. The cost is $65 per person and goes up if you choose some bubbly to go along with your tea. Pretty pricey, but it seems to be the going rate for tea service in the fancy hotels in the area. Service was professional and courteous, and the ambiance nice. We were seated in a cozy spot with couch seating by the fire. Expect to see mostly tourists and business travelers here. You can visit the St. Regis website to view the food menu and look at the tea options. I would have to say portions were pretty small for the price of the tea service. The savories were ok, but I think I preferred the sweets. (It's usually the other way around for me.) They have samples of tea that you can smell to help you decide what to order. I like fruity teas so I went with the Mountain Berry which I liked. FYI: if you are driving here, you can park in the garage on Mission St. that is just about a block away. Afternoon Tea in the St. Regis Lobby Lounge is one of the more expensive options in town but a nice once-in-awhile splurge for the experience. read more

This was one of the middle stops on my solo birthday daytime drinking run. I know it sounds pathetic but was quite the opposite! Anyway, I went to the MOMA and was hankering for a good cocktail and I cruised up to this bar even though no one was there in the middle of the day - go figure. They two awesome full scale murals and I talked to the bartender a bit about those. I ended up ordering a sazerac and damn was that good and powerful. Before you start hurling refuse at me, gentle Yelper, read on: I was here Saturday night, and requested the Navarro Vineyards Gewurztraminer Spritzer, neat... you know, just a glass of grape juice in a wine glass. The cocktail attendant (is that sufficiently gender neutral and politically correct?) plopped a glass me with a glass of Pinot Noir in front of me. *Scooby Doo Sound* Cocktail Attendant went Kaizer Soze on me, and so I tried to make eye contact with the bartender at my 9:00. No dice. I even swiveled my body, and turned my eyes on to Laser Beam Intensity Setting, which the Cadet will tell you is not at all subtle. *Crickets* Finally, I picked up my glass, and walked up to the bar. "Hi. This isn't what I ordered - I ordered the Gewurztraminer." CA: "Yes it is." KD: "No... it's not. It's the wrong color. This is the Pinot Noir." CA: "That's what you ordered. The grape juice." KD: "I know what I ordered. The Pinot was not listed on the nonalcoholic drink menu, ergo I could not have ordered it." CA: "I will be happy to show you the bottle that the bartender poured it from. KD: *exasperated eye roll of disbelief* CA: "See?" *presenting Navarro bottle of PINOT NOIR* KD: "LOOK. Pinot Noir. The drink menu says Gewurztraminer." CA: "I'll talk to my Manager." A couple sat down across from me. The gentleman turned to his companion and said, "Somebody puked in the bathroom sink." I don't mumble. Chardonnay... Cabernet, I can understand the mix-up. But since when do you ever argue with a patron? For the life of me, I cannot understand why the bartender kept his head down during the entire time I was trying to get my drink transgression resolved. The Manager appeared and explained: Apparently, they'd run out of the Gewurztraminer, so they took the extreme liberty of substituting the Pinot Noir without advising me, figuring grape juice = grape juice. How insulting. Rightly, they didn't charge me for the drink. And like that... I was gone. read more
