Great staff, with wonderful vibes! Employee friendly and welcoming. Really recommend this if you want to satisfy your ice cream cravings!

First off, finding parking was a little tricky, but hey, we lucked out across the street! No complaints here, though, because the area is gorgeous--those nearby apartments? Totally Instagram-worthy. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted right away and told we'd need to wait a bit while the family ahead of us had their massive milkshakes crafted to perfection. It took about 10 to 15 minutes, but honestly, that gave us time to marvel at the menu--it's loaded with so many tempting options that it's almost impossible to choose! When the family ahead of us got their shakes, we were shook--these things are huge! My kids ordered their shakes, and the staff worked like pros, whipping them up while multitasking like champs, taking other orders at the same time. I went for the Cheerwine milkshake, and I loved that they gave me the extra Cheerwine left over from making the shake. It's the little things, right? The milkshakes were as delicious as they were decadent. Heads up: these aren't for the faint of heart--TONS of sugar and sweet toppings! If you're watching your sugar intake, you might want to pass, but if you've got a sweet tooth like us, this place is a must-visit. We spent about $50 on 2 regular shakes and 1 kids' shake, so it's not exactly a bargain, but it's more of a fun treat experience than just a dessert stop. Overall, The Yard was worth every minute--and calorie! We'll definitely be back when our sugar cravings strike again.

Paid for 2 specialty milkshakes including printed souvenir jars. The price of the milkshake was elevated to include the cost of the souvenir jars ($6 value - see attached menu screen capture). After paying and receiving our order in plain (not souvenir) jars, we consumed the shake (stale cake/brownie, fake whipped cream, good ice cream). We then asked for our souvenir jars since the ones we were given were plain glass. We were told that they were out of stock, but that we could keep the plain glass jar instead. We asked for a refund for the jars. They refused telling us to email the general manager, After emailing the general manager, she refused to refund any amount for the bait & switch fraud. Response to owner's reply: Despite requesting a refund for the two souvenir jars that I paid for 5 times, once in person at the time of purchase (I was not given a refund, but was told to email the GM), three times in email with the GM. and once on the phone with the GM; 1. I was never asked for a receipt that I would happily have provided (not even at the store when I had just paid) 2. I was never offered a refund. In fact, I was told multiple times that a refund was not possible with the explanation that we had 1) eaten the ice cream and 2) had chosen not to take the plain glass (not souvenir) jar that we were offered. 3. I was offered a $10 store credit that would have required that I drive 2.5 hours round trip and still not received the two jars that I had paid for. I refused since I have do not wish to return to your establishment (see 1 star review), I have both the receipt (attached) and the emails. Please get your facts straight! I am still waiting for a refund. I have also sent an email with the receipt attached, UPDATE; After an email exchange with the business owner, a refund was issued. I have changed the rating to 2 stars based on both the product value, product quality, customer service, and how difficult it was to resolve what should have been a simple in-store refund. I have not left the review at 1 star as the ice cream (Blue Bell) served at this shop is very good.

Honestly, just... don't. It's too much. Some of their milkshakes are whopping 1,800 calories and I don't even want to think about how much sugar. Shakes are between $18-21 which is crazy. Service is trash too, more on that below. We went for some ice cream and a specialty bowl, these hover at comparably modest ~1,000 calories. Specialty bowl is $12-15, it's basically a 2-scoop ice cream (which is $6) with a bunch of instagrammable toppings. I'll give them that, the bowls look very cool. I got the unicorn for $12 and it definitely turned some eyes. That said, the toppings are poor value -- for double the price compared to just ice cream, the toppings I got was colored whipped cream, one dipped cone, one gummy and a small cotton candy cloud. All that sugary stuff looks cool but just clashes so badly together flavor wise, and is just very messy to eat. I also did not enjoy service and this is the main reason why I won't be coming back. We got here on a Saturday evening and it was moderately busy, the wait was around 15 minutes which is not terrible. The guy who was helping us, however, clearly did not want to be there. No hi, no how are you, no thanks, no nothing. When placing an order, I noticed they have specialty cakes for $65 and I asked him how big the cakes are. He responded -- "uuhh I've never seen anyone order it, we don't have it, and you have to call for it like 2 weeks in advance." Um, ok??? That's one way of hyping up and selling the product, my dude did not even answer my question. Same guy brought my unicorn bowl to our table and he almost knocked it over as he sat it on the table -- had I not caught it, it would've ended up knocked all over the table. He then walked away without saying anything like it was normal. I thought it was me but the couple with a kid sitting next to us observed this whole interaction and looked just as perplexed as I did. Bottom line, as much as these bowls and shakes are cool looking, the taste is absolutely nothing crazy and the place just isn't worth it. If you must go, I recommend sharing one bowl between two or maybe even three people.

Stale birthday cake in a cup.

First time going to this place. The pictures on line looked amazing, and that's where it ended. I ordered the birthday cake in a cup size. Which cost $13.44 after taxes. The ice cream was Blue Bell vanilla which came with sprinkles, whip cream and a cupcake on top. It had one scoop in the cup. The cupcake was stale and very dry and lacked flavor. I will not be going back again. My friend got the milkshake version which cost around $20 after tax's. He experienced the same thing, lack of flavor and very expensive for ordinary ingredients. The milkshake came in a glass mason jar. When we were leaving, he asked for a lid for his milkshake and they said it would be an extra dollar. What a joke. This place will be closed down soon enough. Charging a premium and not delivering a premium product or experience will not pay off in the long run.

We searched the web for somewhere to get an over-the-top dessert for my birthday, and decided on The Yard Milkshake Bar. The woman who helped us was wonderful! The Blue Bell ice cream flavors are amazing and the creations are incredible! There are so many options to choose from. My husband got the Salted Caramel Cheesecake (two desserts in one), and I got The Mermaid. It was a fun and delicious experience. We definitely will go back to try other creations.

Parking - park on the street or in the parking garage Staff - friendly and helpful Atmosphere - relax The Yard is an ice cream meets pastry and they had an explosive baby. The sweet treats are like nothing I have ever experienced before and I can not wait to go back. I tried the cookie dough cup ( yes I got in there and I was so excited I chose safe no judgment). I truly enjoyed the cookie dough pieces swirled in the ice cream with the tiny chocolate nuggets that had the most delicious whipped cream and chocolate drizzle on top! I am happy to say that the cookie dough (basic Betty) I knew it was going to be amazing but I can not wait to try the donut touch my coffee and the brookie and the Oreo or The Food Trap ‍‍ . So many amazing choices to choose from there is honestly something for everyone here but I am happy to say I will be going back to try some more amazing flavors. Now that the weather is getting warm make sure you go to The Yard and try these amazing sweet treats!

    Brookie milkshake

I went back to The Yard Milkshake Bar at the invitation of Norman, and the second experience was much better. It helped, somewhat, that we went mid afternoon when there was no crowd. The employees were more friendly and the manager was apologetic about our previous experience, which I appreciated but didn't expect. On this visit, like the previous one, we ordered two milkshakes. Both visits the milkshakes were impressive in appearance, but this time they tasted much better. As I mentioned in my previous review, the milkshake on our first visit was chunky tasted milky with ice chunks, not like blended ice cream. This time the ice cream in the milkshake was blended much better. We still waited 20 minutes to receive our order, but I was expecting a wait based on last time's experience. I now know that there are multiple steps in the process to get the milkshakes to look the way that they do. Overall, I am more willing to return in the future if it is a special occasion (two milkshakes cost about $40) at a less busy time if I'm not in a hurry. The milkshakes really are quite something to look at, and they have a wide variety of flavors. This visit we got the Brookie milkshake and the Unicorn milkshake.

This spot is a HIT! With a product unlike any other in the Triangle, its makes for the perfect date night, celebratory spot or family getaway. Anytime you are in the Raleigh area, stop by! There are over 32 flavors of BlueBell ice cream and dozens of over the top milkshakes that you can grab. They come in pint glass mason jars, that you get to keep! Some of these shakes are over a foot tall. This spot is a must try!

Stopped by on a rainy Sunday and this place was slammed! That should tell you enough about the quality of this spot! You can really tell they put a lot of time and thought into bringing this experience to Raleigh. We've seen this concept in other cities and wondered if it would live up to the hype of others! Well by the time we finished our milkshakes we were sold as customers that would definitely return! They might need another location soon! Service was smooth even with the lines but it's to be expected with such a following and being a new business. The Yard Milkshake was my favorite and they Red Velvet Cake on top was a signature move! Great job to the owners! The triangle needed this!

The Yard Milkshake Bar was absolutely AMAZING! I was blown away by the variety of options - it took me a solid 10 minutes to decide what to try because everything looked so tempting. I finally settled on the Salted Caramel Cheesecake milkshake, and it did not disappoint! The perfect balance of sweet and salty, with rich caramel and creamy cheesecake blended together, topped with all sorts of deliciousness. It was decadent, indulgent, and worth every calorie. The staff was super friendly, and the atmosphere was fun and laid-back. Can't wait to come back and try every last item on the menu! This is a wonderful addition to Raleigh. Very accessible, parking is not a problem.

    Brownie Fudge Milkshake

One of the best milkshakes spots I've ever been too. The creativity is unmatched, the pallet of options is endless. Great place to bring the family or fun a nice date. If you have a sweet tooth this is the place for you! Great service!

The workers here are lovely. But this place is busy busy busy. There's not enough seating indoor and outside there are three tables. My husband and I waited over an hour for ice cream and cookie dough. And it was fine but not worth the wait or the lack of tables.

The chocolate brownie is thick and rich, but not too sweet, and the marshmallow cream is divine, especially with the ice cream. A lot of their drinks and gin based, which I'm not the biggest fan of, but I always find something I can enjoy. The service is great and relatively quick, and everyone I've met there is kind and willing to help. The inside is a bit small, so smaller crowds are better and it does tend to get crowded later in the evening and on weekends. The outside street sitting area is nice too and hopefully will be fully fixed soon. Overall a great places to stop for drinks and desserts after a nice meal! First, since they are located in a congested area, finding on street parking is a bit of a challenge. Also, be aware that they have a "cash" policy during lunch hours which isn't indicated on their website. I was unaware of this policy until we saw the sign on the front door upon our arrival. When you first walk into their establishment, they have prominently displayed a sign to be sure to tip their staff. A bit unprofessional in my opinion! In addition, they have a large tip jar on the counter where you place your order, I guess in case you missed their other tipping sign! We placed an order for 3 burgers with fries and 3 iced teas which came to almost $62. The food was fine but nothing exceptional for the price! Due to the lettuce and other produce issues currently going on, I requested no lettuce or tomato but instead to add pickles. When the burger arrived to the table it literally had 1 small pickle chip sitting in the center of the burger! Is there a pickle shortage I am not aware of? My two family members had also asked to have the lettuce and tomato removed yet one of their burgers still came with both of those ingredients on the burger! On a positive note, the music they played was enjoyable and the photos displayed on the wall were a nice touch. Finally, one of the employees came to our table to ask us to leave so they could mop the floor! I was unaware they closed at 2:00, which was my error in not paying attention to the lunch hours on the website. However, I think they could have been more professional in letting us know their lunch hours were ending! We arrived shortly after 1:00 p.m. and mentioned to the guy taking our order that it was our first time there. It would have been a great customer service courtesy if he had mentioned they would be closing at 2:00 so we had the heads up to pay attention to the time, or we could have decided to go elsewhere so we weren't on a time limit. I don't plan to return for the above mentioned reasons and won't personally recommend them to my family or friends. However, if you choose to go, I hope your experience is more positive and that my review will help to eliminate the negative experiences I had during my one and only visit to Hayes Barton Cafe' & Dessertery!
