They had me at these vintage water glasses!

What an eclectic gem! Love the decor inside. It's busy yet comforting. The food was very tasty. I loved the pepper steak, such great flavor with the tomatoes and onions! Even better, a friend and I ate here with two slices of banana cake (wonderful btw) for $31! C'mon where can you find that these days?

Chickpea hummus sandwich was very tasty!

Food was really good. I had the Buffalo hummus which was good but too salty. Then I had the chickpea sandwich and it was sooo good. I gave it a 4 out of 5 because of the salty hummus. The place was really cool. It looks like a thrift store. I'm not sure if the items there are for sale.

From the moment we walked into the restaurant, adorned with antique items, to the fantastic buffet spread, we had a wonderful experience. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere of dining among antique pieces while enjoying wholesome vegetarian and vegan food was delightful. It's very reasonably priced, and I highly recommend it to everyone.

I had a chance to go here again with my friend and I got the seitan steak and mushrooms it was so good I finished the entire plate. It also came with a side salad and steamed broccoli. The inside was still decorated for Christmas and it looked so cute. I like how the menu is always changing and the Sunday brunch I am dying to go to it again.

What a fantastic and unique find for vegans! Very impressed with this 19 year vegan restaurant. The food and service was great and look forward to returning each time I am in the Pittsburgh area. Staff was very nice and the decor is very unique and hard to describe. The food quality is good and there is nothing negative to say about this great place.

    What a delightful space!

On a scale of documentaries to romances, The Zenith is Alice in Wonderland. With an eclectic and thoughtfully laid-out collection of items sprawling from floor to high ceilings, The Zenith welcomes guests into an alternate reality. Walk deeper into The Zenith, and you'll arrive to the restaurant portion of the shop where they offer a weekly menu of Vegan and Vegetarian options. My partner and I ordered the Peanut Noodle Salad, Wedding Soup, Red Bean Tacos, and the Ratatouille. Every bite offered an explosion of flavor, and we were well pleased. Service was wonderful, but it's good to note that this is a more homey, mom-and-pop style restaurant. It's comfortable and intimate all at once. Pro Tip: Walk all the way into the back because they usually seat the far dining room before the mid-dining room.

I appreciate history and the OG vegetarian places across the country but my visit to the Zenith was a disappointment. The space itself is a strange but interesting combination vintage shop, cafe, and crazy Nana's house. This is a positive thing. Apparently there's a somewhat rotating menu. We had- Mongolian seitan Cold peanut noodle salad Burrito the seitan was homemade strips which were fine but they were over under cooked brown rice and the only other thing in the dish was an overly generous amount of scallions. My daughter had the noodles as an entree and liked them overall but didn't rave about them. The burrito was fine but basic. We wanted to try one of the 5 or 6 cakes they had on display but they told us they only had one flavor available for some vague unclear reason. We passed. We were the only customers in the entire place which the guy working ascribed to the vegan fest taking the business that day.

The Zenith is one of my favorite brunch spots ever. Not only is the food fantastic, but the restaurant doubles as a unique antique shop and there are tons of things to look at. If you have no attention span, you'll definitely be a fan! I've been going to Zenith for a few years now, and I even follow their Instagram account to peep the weekly menu. My favorites are their lentil burgers (best vegan mayo in town) and the almond pancakes. On my last visit a couple weekends ago I got almond French toast that came with some delicious, sweet blueberry syrup. The buffet is only $11.50 for tea or coffee, a buffet of cakes and different cold salads, and your choice of an entree. It's a steal for the amount of food you get. Also, who doesn't love a bar of cakes? Zenith is in the South Side of Pittsburgh, and if you are visiting the area it's a great place to shop around after eating. The antiques here are fun to look at and you may be able to take something unique home. Even if you don't adopt the vegan or vegetarian diet you'll leave here happy and full!

When my friend suggested a vegan restaurant for brunch I was hesitant but she convinced me with the all you can eat salad bar and cakes. Came here on a weekend around noon for brunch. There's plenty of free street parking. The restaurant is attached to a thrift shop, you have to go to the back to put your name in for seating. It took about 20 minutes to get a table but there were plenty of sofas to sit and wait, or you can browse at their extensive collection of items in the store from clothes to jewelry. The brunch menu let's you choose an entree in addition to access to their salad bar which has hummus, fruit salad, Thai style noodles, etc, in addition to 5+ cakes they have on display and coffee/tea. All this for the price of $11. I chose the tofu style Philly cheesesteak and helped myself to a sampling from the salad bar. The sandwich I had came with this rice that was delicious. Honestly it was my favorite part of the whole meal. To top it off at the end, I tried various of their cakes. The winner was the almond poppy seed. If you're in the neighborhood, definitely come check this place out. You won't leave hungry, I promise.

That sounds pretty heavy, but I recommend that you try it. It may not change your life, but at least you can appreciate how delicious it is, and how vibrant and healthy you feel after eating it. So, actually a guy at the information booth was eating something from here and I asked him where he got it from because it looked very good and he recommended them to me. So we headed their way. Tbh: Every place that we wanted to eat at had a line 25-50 deep and we were super hungry and their line was only like 5-7 people deep which was a blessing. First off, the service in general was kind of crappy, but I understand as it was a hot and very busy day and from what they told my gf at the time they were getting low on food as well and only had a couple items that were left from the menu. After deciding what we wanted which was one of three things my gf at the time ordered us the Mac and Cheese and a container of ranch to take home while I looked for a place for us to eat. So after they handed her our food we headed over to an area with tables and chairs to eat the Mac and Cheese. I must say we both thoroughly enjoyed every single bit of it and my gf at the time isn't even vegan. So that says a lot! I highly recommended it :) FYI: The person who took her order also forgot to give her the container of ranch she paid for. I wasn't made aware that she purchased it until afterwards because my gf at the time wanted to surprise me but they didn't give her a receipt so she had no proof. Oh well, you live and learn, sadly! The vibe on this day was on point so we let the little things go in regards to the crappy service and the shorting us of an overpriced container of ranch fall to the wayside and continued on with our wonderful day, smiling and enjoying the amazing festival and area. If I decide to stop by your food trailer again this year at the festival or whenever I am somewhere you are posted up in front of, I hope you make up for your mistakes from last year because that's the right thing to do.

The restaurant is in the heart of the Northside on Ohio Street nestled among some other really great restaurants like Siempre Algo and Fig & Ash. Parking is a little tricky and the street is a little sketchy. Inside, the restaurant is small with the open kitchen on the first floor and additional seating and a bar on the second floor. When we visited the restaurant first, there was a power outage so we had to leave. The restaurant was accommodating and gave us our drinks for free and allowed us to easily reschedule. There's no doubt that the chef is excellent and classicly French trained. Every dish was exquisitely plated and flavors were intricately chosen that paired well and complimented each other. You could tell that the chef used different culinary techniques on each dish, and it did not go unnoticed. However, I really did not enjoy the food. Everything was super flavorful to the point where it was almost too overpowering. The flavors paired well together but often created an explosion of flavor in my mouth and not in a good way. I feel as though the chef compensated the lack of meat with extra flavor that really did not leave a lasting impression. Vegetables are naturally very bland and require a lot of flavoring to enhance the natural taste, so it makes sense why each dish was so flavorful. Nevertheless, it really just was not for me. I think this restaurant is unique and special and such a bright light to the restaurant scene in Pittsburgh, but I also feel like it's specialized for a certain type of eater, and it is not for everyone! I am super glad that I went outside of my comfort zone to try this restaurant, but I most likely will not be back. On a side note, the service was absolutely excellent. Our waiter was super attentive and willing to explain everything dish to us. It was refreshing and welcomed after we have had some horrific service experiences lately. Kudos to the chef for his excellent craftsmanship! He truly is what holds the restaurant together!

Their menu is extensive and for me specifically it is the most amazing joy to have vegetarian option after option when so many other places are limited for me. I have made a meal out of the vegetarian combo platter before, which is an appetizer platter perfect for splitting between two people. Tonight we did exactly that and everything is evenly portioned for two which is so nice, nobody getting more of one thing than another. It has grape leaves, baba ghanoush, hummus, falafel and tabouli. Perfect combo of flavors and comes with pita for dipping or piling it all on. Our absolutely lovely server also offered some hot sauce which seemed to be homemade and, although I am not a big hot anything person, smelled delicious. Along with other platters, rolled pitas and salads, they have a long list of pita pizzas which I had never previously tried so we decided to go with one of those to split. We got one with garlic butter, roasted spinach, banana peppers, tomatoes and feta and it was a very good choice. The pita itself had a somewhat smoky flavor from the char and I liked how that was thin and kept the focus on the plentiful toppings. They also have some fantastic desserts here. Just look at the case and you will be convinced. There were a couple of chocolate cakes that looked delicious but we went for the carrot cake and it was fantastic with visible pieces of carrot and walnuts. We were very full and thinking about skipping dessert but splitting this was worth it. There is ample inside seating, just a simple no-frills environment but comfortable, and during the summer they set up a few tables outside on Washington Road which I have enjoyed eating at before. Overall this is an extremely solid Mediterranean spot, and I've never been disappointed with anything I've ordered here. Pro tip: if you can't find a spot at the meters on Washington or the nearby side streets, the public parking garage across the street isn't as expensive as you would think, about $2.50 for up to two hours and a flat rate of $2 evenings after 6 p.m.
