Theraleaf San Jose - Still a Budget Gem, But Know the Inventory Game (Updated 9/1/25) I've been a Theraleaf regular for 4+ years, and it's still one of the Bay's best budget dispensaries. Prices are hard to beat, especially if you know when to shop. That said, inventory is very limited and moves fast. Between cherry-picking and people buying wholesale to stock up, it's truly first come, first serve. Online orders are not guaranteed, even if you check out first. I've made the trek from the peninsula more than once just to be told by a budtender that the item was already gone. PSA: if you order online, make sure you actually hit the "Thank you for your purchase" screen. They occasionally have checkout errors, and if you don't confirm, you'll be let down and ass-out on gas. On the plus side, Thursdays are still solid--Raw Garden extracts for $20 out the door is a legit bargain. Their premium live rosin, however, is usually very limited, and there's rarely a clear restock timeline. Even the buyers can't always say when it's coming back. I did recently run into an issue where I was overcharged compared to the online price. Initially, the response was pretty indifferent. But to their credit, management followed up after my review, owned the mistake, and made it right. That goes a long way. Bottom line: Theraleaf is still a go-to if you're budget-minded and flexible. I had an issue one time, they fixed my issue within 24 hrs of my purchase which was a raw garden cartridge that ended up being swapped out for a new one. I was so let down by this place...I'm from Oregon originally so I only come to SJ when I'm visiting my parents. I heard this was one of the cheapest places for flower so I decided to give it a shot. Big mistake... I got this big nosed girl with glasses who was rude from the jump. After driving 20 mins and waiting in line, mind you, i asked her if she can recommend me any edibles that'll last me until Thursday or Friday.... I ask questions like this all the time at other dispensaries and never had a problem. Now, Idk if she didn't hear me because the music was too loud or something, but she seemed to be very confused by this VERY simple question. In the rudest tone, She replied by saying, "ummm...idk? It depends on what you want?" You didnt answer my question...and whats with the attitude? I wanted to ask for someone else right then and there but it was busy, so i decided not to. Maybe we just got off on the wrong foot or something....But nah, she was rude throughout the whole interaction. She kept interrupting me mid sentence, and proceeded to give me an attitude with every question i asked. I got so fed up that i started to give her one word answers and gave her the same stank attitude back. She clearly saw that i was upset so the rest of the interaction was very quiet and awkward...i only ended up getting one thing bc i didnt want to bother talking to her anymore. I would've spent a lot more money if Ms. Budtender of the year would've been a little nicer. Oh and the cherry on top of the sundae was when i was leaving, she didnt say, "have a good night!" Or "please come again!" This little girl really said, "I hope you have a better day" in the usual nasty tone. So unbelievably rude...That is what prompted me to write this review. Luckily, I ran into a manager on my way out and I gave her a brief rundown. Im writing this review to give the business owner the whole story. Just in case if lil girl tries to spin another tale...The manager seemed nice and said she would talk to her so i guess not all the budtenders are jerks like that...But you're never gonna catch me back here again. If you have read Peter T. Review of Theraleaf it basically spot on for what this place is in my experience. If you are only concern with prices then Theraleaf has amazing prices on the very limited selection they have. They have the prices listed online as what you will be paying in store. Usually no price issues here. However that is where the positives end. During peak hours the parking lot is a nightmare. Good luck finding parking if you go during a busy time. Make sure you don't bring a lowered car here. The parking lot is full of potholes and disrepair. The security people are generally very nice but the other customers can be rude and disrespectful. If it's a sporting event day or weekend it can get nasty. The budtenders are more miss than hit. When I ask questions about products they sometimes don't know or say I dont use that stuff. Then when asked why they say something that doesn't apply to the product. For example if I ask about STIIIZY and what are the pros and cons. They will say I don't know I don't like them so I can't tell you. Then I will follow up oh so what don't you like about them. The best answer I got was "I dunno I don't buy STIIIZY". Not very helpful. On the flip side I can get some nicer people but it's only a handful of times. Generally you better know what you want because they haven't been the most knowledgeable out there. When you come here understand that it is CASH ONLY and there is no Cell Phones when inside. I don't know why that is such a hard thing to follow. Lines can get jammed up when customers aren't following the rules. Lastly I have dealt with there return policy and in my opinion if you get something bad or defective. You're going to be out of luck. I tried returning something that was broken only to be told they were not going to do a thing for me and I was S.O.L. I only had a positive experience when I came back in like 30 minutes when they Shorted me on my stuff and I had to drive back. CHECK YOUR STUFF BEFORE GOING HOME BUT OPEN THE BAG NOT ON PROPERTY. You get 5/5 prices but you are going to get 2/5 service and selection from them. So keep that in mind. So I thought, since I am Bi, maybe, the one male staff member who is gorgeous, I could pay him a compliment, and as a result the females - who are intelligent, friendly and frankly too good for such a homophobic cut rate shop - would stop paying as much attention to me, and try to get him. Don't even bother pre ordering here at theraleaf. There has been multiple times where I walk in the same time as someone who has no pre order and I end up waiting longer than the other person. They have no structure to their "pre order" line. I went before closing and I know they get busy before closing time so I ordered ahead 15 mins. I get there, check in and go to pre orders line and.... can someone explain to me how there's only 2 people in pre order line and a line out the door for non pre orders and some how the walk in line gets finished before they had taken a single pre order. Ridiculous!! So much for "pre ordering" . Not the first time it's happen to me either. Damn!! Theraleaf has fell off. They used to sell very good strains for great prices. No longer the case. And now, they have their own in-house grow by the name of Union. (Not to be confused with Union Electric, a way better growing op) I picked up the Super Silver Haze 1/4 for $35 and it was DRY! Called from the parking lot to let them know about the flower and I was told to come back in. Once I returned, the manager seen the bag was opened and I could not return it. It is not a great batch and I wouldn't expect them to resell it so it surprised me a bit. Sent the corporate office an email and will see if they can rectify the situation. Doubt it as I'm just a speck on their balance sheet. Try Lakeside Remedy, Kushagram and California Patients Club for better pricing and understanding of a batch is not what is supposed to be. read more
