Thien An Bo 7 Mon provided an incredible experience for our group of eight on a Friday night. We were able to secure a reservation for 7:00 PM and were seated immediately upon arrival. Our server, Kevin, truly made the night memorable. He is hilarious and charismatic, ensuring we were well taken care of while keeping everyone laughing throughout the entire meal. The food was fantastic, especially the large catfish we ordered along with several other dishes. A helpful tip for anyone planning a visit is to order the catfish in advance when you make your reservation, as it is a popular item that takes some time to prepare. The dining style is interactive and fun since you wrap your own rolls using the catfish and various meats accompanied by fresh vegetables and vermicelli. We were there celebrating a friend's birthday, and the staff was kind enough to keep our cake in the fridge until we were ready for dessert at the end of the night. Everything was delicious, and the service made the celebration even more special.

New experience alert. My good friend Ben shared with me this Vietnamese place. I've never been to a place where they specialize in the catch fish where it's prepared Vietnamese style. You make these rolls with the fish with the sauce that you create along with all the side raddish's, carrots, and lettuce. We got the medium fish and it filled the 3 of us. The service was great. Our server got us everything we needed whenever we needed it. It feels like a bbq place and there's definitely a like so come early. My friend pre ordered the fish because it takes some time to prepare. Super delicious meal. You've got to try it.

Had an early dinner at this location on a Saturday around 4pm. Lots of parking in the plaza available. The restaurant is very big. The bathrooms were kept nice and tidy too! Upon arrival I thought they were closed since there weren't too many seated customers. So it felt tranquil while we were seated. During our meal, around 5pm more families started showing up for prime dinner time. Service was good overall. Service got a little hectic as more families showed up for prime dinner time. For my drink I got my favorite soda xi muoi. The drink was prepared perfectly. Their water was great as well! For an appetizer I order nem chua. Their nem chua was perfect! Some pieces had big pieces of chili, so be cautious! Thankfully the chili is visible so it is easy to take out if needed. For our table of 3 we ordered the small sized baked catfish. Our server forewarned us that it would take 30 min to cook, but it still seemed faster than 30 min. The catfish was delicious! Came with the rice paper, daikon and carrot pickles, herbs, and lettuce. The cat fish was cooked very well and was delicious. For a table of 3 the small felt almost too big, but we were able to finish it!

If you're looking for authentic Vietnamese flavors and a truly satisfying dining experience, Thien An Bo 7 Mon is a must-visit. Known for its specialty in seven-course beef dishes, this restaurant delivers bold, traditional flavors in every bite. From the moment the food arrives, you can tell everything is freshly prepared and thoughtfully seasoned. Each course brings something different from savory and tender beef dishes to refreshing herbs and wraps that let you customize every bite. The variety keeps the meal exciting, and by the end, you feel completely satisfied. We also ordered large cat fish. A MUST ordered! The atmosphere is casual not updated. But, definitely welcoming, making it a great place for family dinners or group outings. The staff is super friendly, always making sure your table is well taken care of. Portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality and amount of food you receive. I left full and very satisfied!!!!

This is still my favorite place to host a large party. Over the years, it's been our go-to spot for family gatherings. The food hasn't changed at all and it's still incredibly delicious, and we always get the 7-courses of beef. The service was top-notch, too. The staff were very hospitable and accommodating. Most recently, we came for a birthday and totally forgot to bring plates and utensils for the cake. Even though we were a big group, a staff member named Kevin saved the day and brought us plates, plastic forks, and a knife for the cake. We even had little kids running around, and the staff didn't say anything. It was great to just enjoy ourselves without any stress. Plus, we were able to make a reservation the day before and add more people the day of with no issues.

My extended clan safely defaults towards Italian or Chinese food when eating out for an epic get-together. Thien An in Rosemead is an exception -- as we did, to celebrate a birthday. Thien An is famous for its enormous catfish, which is slow baked rather than fried, resulting in a crispy skin with tender and flaky meat. One medium-sized catfish adequately feeds 4 people - and we ordered more than enough for 12 people. Pro tip: Call in and order the catfish at least 40 minutes before arriving as it takes that long to prepare! And here they come to our table, straight from the oven on oversized platters -- as you can hear their skin crackling. Each is drenched in hot scallion-infused oil, then smothered in crushed peanuts and fresh cilantro. The impressive spread arrives with DIY plates of rice paper, rice vermicelli, fresh lettuce, herbs, cucumbers, pickled carrots, and daikon. Steam hisses from the catfish -- enough for a facial -- as we started pulling off chunks of flaky fish with our chopsticks. Dipping the rice paper in warm water makes them pliable. Then, place the fish on it, add herbs, vegetables, vermicelli, roll tightly like eggrolls, and dip them into umami-packed fish sauce, or fermented anchovy sauce. The flavor profile is unlike anything we've ever tasted. The first thing that hits your senses is the crispiness and sweetness of the caramelized catfish skin. Next comes the tenderness of the flaky meat, accented by garlic, crunchy peanuts, mint, shallots, ginger, and lemon grass. The leafy greens bring an herbaceous brightness. Lastly, the pickled carrots and daikon, and pungent fish sauce, round out the richness. The servers -- a shoutout to Kevin, help guide newcomers on how to eat the catfish, and go out of their way to help mix the dipping sauces to our liking. We also ordered grilled spicy ground beef wrapped in betel leaves, and the charbroiled ground beef meatballs wrapped in caul fat. Combining meat with fish makes for an interesting combination. Dining here is a memorable -- and epic experience. Five stars -- no hesitation and no asterisk. The next time we have another one of our family get-togethers, Thien An is our default.

    7 course

First time having baked fish with my Vietnamese friends. This place is serious when you have lots of Vietnamese going there. We did the 7 course beef and also the small baked fish for the 3 of us. All the stuff is very tasty with the South Asian flavors. There is a lot of wrapping going on with the rice papers and also fresh veggies. Very different from the Pho and vermicelli noodles I'm used to at Vietnamese restaurants. The 7 course beef has many different flavors to try and 2 ways for cooking beef. All are very savory The catfish (baked fish) is very scrumptious with a BBQ-type glaze which makes it flavorful as well. Definitely a place to go to again. Take credit card. Parking in the mall shared with supermarket and other businesses. Not too busy on a Sunday around lunch

Came here with my mom on our day off, and we always have such a great experience! Kevin was our server this time, and he was so helpful and attentive throughout our visit. We love coming here because the food is always fresh and delicious. We usually order two large plates of meat since it's more than enough for us and fun to cook at the table. The Bò Nướng Vĩ (large) is $23, and the Bò Nướng Lá Lốt (large) is also $23 -- each comes with about 10 pieces. All the sides like lettuce, mint, cucumber, radish, carrots, rice paper wraps, and more come included, which is such a nice touch. If it's your first time, I highly recommend trying the 7-course meal. It's a great way to sample everything and find your favorites. We've already figured out which dishes we love most, so now we usually just stick to those two, but the full set is perfect for first-timers. The vibe here is casual and family-friendly, with big tables that are perfect for groups. Most of the customers are families enjoying a meal together, and it really adds to the welcoming atmosphere.

anytime I crave for spring rolls with baked fish I always come here. Honestly soo good the fish comes out so flakey and crispy. The meat inside is so juicy. I also get the 7 course beef with this as well. My favorite is the lemon grass beef and make it into a spring roll. The servers are nice and funny. Makes the experience more fun.

Arrived at the restaurant and found it was huge. The service is a bit slow, but very friendly. The food actually came out pretty quickly and was delicious. We had the pork & shrimp egg rolls, the medium catfish, and the 7 course beef and would recommend it all.

Huge restaurant with tons of seating- great for big parties. Ordered the 7 course beef with a side of vermicelli which ended up being pretty filling for me and my friend. I really enjoy the concept of making your own rolls with the rice paper. The meat was good and the additional toppings of greens and pickled veggies is a nice touch. Service was good too! I would come again for sure.

If you love beef, this is the place for it! 7 courses of beef cooked differently This place is authentic! I love how all the vegetables are provided - no skimping! And rice papers, too! We ordered two sets of the 7 courses of beef. It was enough for my family of 4 (I have two daughters). We also added an order of the La Lot because it's just amazingly yummy! Servers were friendly and quick to respond. Lots of seating...great place for large parties. IMO, more people is better so you can order lots of food! I have to go back with more people so I can order the grilled catfish. Haha!

Thien An Bo 7 Mon Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Thien An Bo 7 Mon

Are you open for lunch? The many times I've been at the shopping center you have not been open during lunch on weekends but both Yelp and Google now says open at noon? Thanks.

Our current hours are Monday - Thursday 3:30pm -9:00pm; Friday - Sunday 12:00 pm-9:00 pm; closed Tuesday.

Hi For one person if you order and it's $30 does that include all seven courses or is it $30 for each course?

    $30 for including all 7 courses !

Does this restaurant allow service dog?

Yes but please call ahead to reserve the designated table for service dogs.

How much is the cost per person for the Bo 7 Mon?

    $32-$35

Can you bring your own wines? Is there a corking fee?

Yes you can. Corkage fee is $15/per bottle

Hello, do you use MSG in your food?

Yes we do. It is in our bo la lot, Bo mo chai, and chao bo.

Do we have to preorder the catfish?

    We ordered 45 mins prior.

Do you have small portion for one person for "Bò 7 món"?

I don't believe there's a minimum order. They charge one order for $29. Usually that is good for 1 or two people.

    Can we make reservations?

I recommend reserving the Baked Catfish ahead of time since it takes 30~35 mins to bake and for table reservations is only available for parties 9+ and reserving a Baked Catfish does NOT mean a table is reserved. Those are two different…

    Is there outdoor seating?

No, there is no outdoor seating

    What time you open today?

    12pm- 9pm

Is indoor dining open and what time?

Three Years Later... The OG Flavor Is STILL OG!…read more Haven't been back to this spot in over THREE years! After hearing they went through a whole trial of new ownership and are now back with the original ownership, I figured it was finally time to come back and see if the OG still had it... and spoiler alert: THEY DO. #27 Hủ Tiếu Mì Nam Vang (Khô Hay Nước) -- 9.5/10 | $16.99 #30 Cơm Tấm Sườn Bì Chả Cua Trứng Muối, Tàu Hủ Ky -- 8/10 | $14.99 Let's start with the reason I came back... #27 Hủ Tiếu Mì Nam Vang -- 9.5/10 | $16.99 This is hands down one of my favorite dishes from here YEARS ago, and I was honestly nervous it wouldn't taste the same after being gone for so long. But WOW... it still hits! I ordered the special egg noodle + clear noodle combination, and you get the option of dry or soup-based. I went with the dry version because that's where the magic happens! The noodles sit over their special sauce at the bottom, so once you mix everything together, every single strand gets coated in that sweet, savory goodness. It comes loaded with a delicious mix of meats, plus a side of fresh veggies and a pork bone soup for dipping or sipping alongside. The broth was hot, flavorful, and comforting, while the noodles had that perfect texture. And somehow... after THREE YEARS, it tastes the same--if not BETTER. This is clearly one of the dishes they're known for, and I completely understand why. 10/10, no notes. This bowl alone was worth the drive back! #30 Cơm Tấm Sườn Bì Chả Cua Trứng Muối, Tàu Hủ Ky -- 8/10 | $14.99 Hubby went with the broken rice dish, which came with a pork chop, shredded pork skin, steamed egg with salted egg yolk, and tàu hủ ky, plus a side of soup. I actually really enjoyed how simple and comforting this dish was. The pork chop was nicely done, and the shredded pork skin added a good texture. The only thing that threw me off was the salted egg yolk--it was VERY subtle and honestly didn't have much flavor at all. I was expecting that salty, rich egg-yolk punch, but she was definitely playing shy. Still a solid dish overall and came with a nice little bowl of soup on the side. And can we talk about the renovation?! After three years, I walked in and was like... EXCUSE ME, WHO IS SHE?! The restaurant has been completely renovated and has such a much nicer, modern ambience compared to what I remember from years ago. It feels fresh, clean, and welcoming while somehow still keeping that familiar feeling of the OG spot. Service: Super quick! We were seated immediately around 5:30 PM, and our food came out in less than 8 minutes. Everything arrived hot, fresh, and ready to eat. Honestly, I'm SO glad I gave this place another try. Sometimes you leave a restaurant for years and come back wondering if the food will still live up to the memories... and this one absolutely did. If anything, the OG ownership coming back may have been exactly what this place needed. I already know what I'm ordering next time because that #27 is officially BACK on my rotation! Happy Eats!

The broth is perfectly seasoned and really ties the whole bowl together. I always ask to skip the blood cubes and opt for extra pig's feet instead, which they handle perfectly. That's right, 5 minutes. Although I did go around 9:50AM so there wasn't a line nor another party in the dining area. Food: I woke up craving Vietnamese and this place didn't disappoint. The Bon Rieu had the depth of flavor that I crave. Honestly, I judge most Vietnamese pho restaurants by their Bon Rieu because some places simply use seafood powder in their stock to fake it. What results is a very thinly flavored broth that has very little umami. Bon Rieu should have THE MOST umami of any soup dish because of its tomato and crab base. That's how you can tell if a place is cutting corners. The Nem Cuom is huge and the dipping sauce is generous. The House Special Tea is reminiscent of a passion fruit green tea from a boba place. Sweetened just enough to not be saccharine. Ambiance: Quite small. I believe one of their main issues may be parking during peak hours as it shares a tiny parking lot with many other businesses. HOWEVER, neighborhood parking is plentiful and just around the corner past the Sheridan Hotel and Starbucks. Round the corner and you'll find plenty of parking throughout the day.

Noodles would have gotten too soggy ... But I enjoyed it to the point I know I'll go back. The broth hit me on the first sip. It felt like a punch of flavor that woke up my taste buds in a really good way. I took several sips before putting my Pho together to start eating. The most recent time I came here is Labor Day Monday at 12pm which is the WORST time to come because it's extremely busy/crowded and there's so many people waiting in line. We have 10 people ahead of us when we got there. If possible, sign up for the Yelp waitlist long before you come during prime hours (if you are able to). We got the bun rieu, the hu tieu, and the pho ga. For the appetizers, we got the spring rolls and the banh beo. We also got one order of com tam to go. Total without tip came out to be $99. We had three people and realistically, that's way too much food. We ended up taking one of the noodle dishes to go and half orders of the spring rolls and banh beo to go as well. However, all very tasty, not too oily which is great! And overall pretty decent lunch. Only downside is the line and to be honest, I would not stand in line for this restaurant but my aunt really wanted to come here for the bun mam. Which also ironically she didn't even get to eat it this time around because they only offer it on Saturdays and Sundays. FYI - Go to the other location on Garvey if you want bun mam. I believe they offer it daily.

There are lots of parking. The restaurant looks like they have been renovated since I came a year ago. We ordered a selection of dishes to share, including the chicken rice, bun beo etc. everything tasted good, but on the more expensive side. They don't give enough veggie and said it would cost more for additional lettuce. That is not typical for a Vietnamese restaurant.

I love that you can build your ideal broken rice plate instead of being limited to a preset option. The prices are extremely affordable for the portion sizes. One plate is easily enough for two sittings for me. The staff is also quick and efficient, so even when it's busy, orders come out fast. If you dine in, soup is included with your meal. Great value, generous portions, and satisfying comfort food every time.

We placed a phone order and our food was ready by the time we arrived. 16 Cơm Tấm King Special Combo (10 Items), Chicken $20.99 194. Chè Ba Màu $4.99 Three Color Bean with Shaved Ice Since it was our first time, we decided on the 10 item Cơm Tấm King Special Combo and we most definitely made the right choice. We love the variety and the food! Everything was packed well, great portions, and the flavors were on point. (What more can one ask for?) When they asked if we wanted BBQ beef, pork, or BBQ chicken, we asked them what they suggested, and they mentioned BBQ chicken. We had also grabbed food from other establishments along Valley Blvd, so we only ordered the 1 item along with the Chè Ba Màu. The prices are most definitely welcomed in this day and age and the ingredients are quality. I am thinking about the delicious food as I type this review. There are plenty of seating on the inside, and the service was great. I was greeted as I stepped into the restaurant. Parking is a bit difficult to find, but we were lucky since it was a week day and we were able to find street parking. There is a note on the storefront that customers could park in the Hawaii Supermarket parking lot but that could get packed real fast. Found a new favorite! I am already planning to stop by on my next trip out to SGV.

If you're in the SGV or surrounding areas this place is a must try!!! The restaurant is small but busy, it's lined with booths and shared tables. Nothing fancy, the food is the reason why people come. The staff is friendly, fast and keeps everything running smoothly. The menu is huge, the portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. I've never had a bad meal here. My favorites are the pork chop over rice, the beef banh mi and tom thit kho with dry egg noodles and broth on the side. Everyone loves the pho here but I haven't gotten around to trying it. The crispy egg rolls pair well with everything. Make sure to wrap them in lettuce and dip them in nuoc cham and you'll see why they're a must try. No reservations so expect a wait. Get there early to avoid the long line. They're open everyday from 10am to 8pm, except Wednesdays. Parking in the shopping center can be tough but there is plenty of street parking nearby. They have a second location in Temple City but I'd stick to the OG San Gabriel location. Try Golden Deli for amazing Vietnamese food at a reasonable price.
