I tried their Com Tam (broken rice) dish to go which is their namesake and it did not disappoint. The portion was huge and everything was flavorful. The steamed egg was my favorite part, it was very tasty. Would definitely be back!

I know this place is known for their huge rice plates but do not sleep on their bun rieu! It's the only thing I get here bc there are not that many places that have this on their menu. The pigs blood isn't the best (Nha Trang in MP is sooo silky), but their flavors are on point. Service is pretty quick and efficient. Looks like they are remodeling the unit in the north corner so hopefully they are expanding!

I remembered coming here with my mom when I was a kid and am kind of amazed that it has survived and thrived all these years later. Since this is still one of my mom's favorite casual restaurants (says a lot since she's a tough customer), I decided to make two consecutive visits on a Friday morning right when they open at 10 a.m. They already had a good amount of people dining in, and they turnover the tables quickly. I got their Bun Rieu (no pork blood & half vermicelli) and a single egg roll my first time back and it was the biggest bowl I've ever been served. It was delicious and they do not skimp on the protein. I love how they gave me a boatload of proper Vietnamese veggies/herbs and fermented shrimp paste alongside it. Most Vietnamese restaurants nowadays serve bastardized versions of a veggie/herb plate with their soup noodles to appease a devolved palette. Second time I was here, I got their dry combination egg & tapioca soy sauce noodles with the soup on the side and an order of a single egg roll. Man, do I miss this dish especially when it is served authentically. The bowl came with shrimps, thinly sliced pork, ground pork, a fried shrimp crisp, & quail eggs. But the flavor bomb comes from bits of fried shrimp, bacon fat, & shallots. Pro tip: balance the sweetness of the soy sauce noodles with the pickled jalapeños within their condiment array. The bowl of soup that this comes with is a whole other meal with a giant pork bone (how it is traditionally served) and a bunch of fish cake in it. This was my ratatouille moment when I transported back to my childhood. I can't wait to come back and work through their menu.

This is a favorite com tam restaurant of someone in our group. We went on Thursday evening and met up for an early dinner before this place got too busy for our group of 8. There is a small parking lot behind and in front of the restaurant but there are plenty of free street parking if all the spaces are taken. Orders were taken and we were given a small basket of little buttery croissants too enjoy while we waited for our food to arrive. Portions are large. They are known for their broken rice (com tam) so that was what I had ordered. It arrived on a platter! The pork chop was juicy and tender. Everything was good. None of the ingredients were dry or bland. I will have to come back to try the noodle soups next time. Those portions were huge and the soups were full of meats and greens. It was another hit with our group too.

My family has been coming here for what feels like two decades, and it's one of those places that just keeps doing its thing well. Over the years they've really stepped it up too from a nonfuzzy hole in the wall place back in its hay days. You can tell by how busy it is pretty much any time of day. I always go for the broken rice plates. The steamed egg cake still comes with that nice yolk in the middle, and everything is served on big plates and bowls that actually get filled. The portions are generous, and not just for show. The meats are flavorful, and the shredded pork has that slightly dry, fluffy texture that tastes housemade and really satisfying. Service is quick, which I appreciate in this crowded strip mall restaurant. They clearly keep things well prepped in the kitchen, so food and water cups come out fast even when it's packed. It's one of those reliable spots we keep going back to, and with the new bakery opening in the same plaza, it just gives us another reason to stop by.

Always happy when I get to eat here. I got introduced this place from my parents and I'm so happy they took me here. It's always hush when you come so expect a bit of a wait. It's not like Yelp waitlist either you need to write your name down and make sure you're waiting around to hear your name called. I'd say for smaller parties of 2-4 wait times can be about 25mins. Food great and pricing is pretty fair. Portions are also good here. I've trieda variety of their dishes and everything's good. Service is pretty good and efficient too. Highly recommend their broken rice dishes - the meat is super flavorful! Bun rieu is huge and pretty good too. My favorite though had to be their egg rolls where they use like vermicelli to fry it I think? It looks super blistered compared to normal egg rolls. I don't know which one it is on the menu since my mom orders in Vietnamese but I'd recommend to just show a photo to the server lol. Highly recommend this spot. Parking in front is bad so try behind the restaurant or street parking. Can still be difficult since it's residential in the back but a little bit of a walk won't hurt.

Small parking lot or street parking This place gets busy and can easily get packed I've tried different items from the menu and they did not disappoint. The broken rice dish, egg rolls, bun rieu, banh beo. They were my top favorites! Staff is also super nice and friendly

Really solid spot! I know this is more of a rice plate restaurant but the pho and bun rieu were still really good. I do feel we should've stuck with the rice plates and would come back just for that. The star of the show was the Banh Beo...girl let me tell you we were so incredibly full afterwards. Usually the individual dishes are much smaller but these were huge so it was a little difficult to eat. Really delicious! Also the little croissants they give at the beginning is so fun.

    Bryan C.

A popular Vietnamese spot for the signature broken rice dish, Com Tam Kieu also has a variety of other great vietnamese classics such as bun rieu and pho! Each dish is flavorful and the service is fast and friendly. I also thought the desserts were well executed and refreshing! A great spot for a family outing (such as for Father's day), would definitely recommend this place for solid Vietnamese food in the 626 region.

I met up with a friend here for a late weekday lunch, and it was still pretty busy as we waited about 10-15 minutes for a table. I ordered the tomato bún riêu noodles (without the pork blood), and my friend got a rice plate with shredded pork, pork chop, fish cake, egg cake, and an egg roll. The portions were huge, we both ended up with leftovers. That said, I felt like both dishes were a bit underwhelming in flavor and could've used more seasoning. I still prefer Nha Trang on Valley when it comes to bún riêu. On the plus side, service was quick and friendly, and the menu here is much more extensive, with a variety of fish dishes and desserts. Perhaps their pho or bun noodle dishes will be better.

    Plenty of sauces!

Omg she's been SLEEPING on this damn spot. Such friendly service and flavorful dishes. This place doesn't skimp on quality ingredients! It's no wonder it's always a clusterF of a line for this spot! Can't go wrong with the combo vermicelli salad or their drinks. Their fish sauce here hits so well! It's just right not too overpowering and they don't skimp on the sauce! You can simply ask for more if you need! This is def a new fave spot holy moly!

Love this place! Love how yummy and strong their Vienamese coffee is. Super clean place. Parking: parking lot/ street parking. Service is quick. Everything you order is yummy and the portions are quite large.

I've had this place many times, and it's usually pretty crowded. I had food delivered this time, and I like that the portions are quite large. The food itself was delicious, and the to-go packaging is excellent. I tried the following items: Hu Tieu Mi Nam Vang - So good. It came with a nice bowl of soup, and the dry version had a sweet and savory sauce. There was a large selection of meats, and it ended up being enough for two meals. (4.5/5) Com Tam - A staple here and always worth getting. I got it with baked egg, shredded pork, and grilled beef. The portion of rice was huge and also ended up being two meals. Great value. (4.5/5) I was told the wait would be 30 minutes, and every time I've been here, we've had to wait if we didn't come early. Definitely plan ahead.

Hi. Does anyone know do they still have the cute tea pot/ cup? And, what does for? Vietnamese tea or just decorate for the restaurant? Thx 2025.Dec 15

Is this place still open? Google map shows it's temporary closed

They're on vacation until 11/1. Went there yesterday and saw the notice.

    This place still open?

    Yes.

    Is payment cash only?

No. You can pay with card, minimum order $30 for no fees. Otherwise, they apply a surcharge.

I came at 7:30pm on a Saturday, why was the restaurant closed?

Is this the same owner and place as the one on valley blvd?

Yes we’re the same owner as the location on Valley Blvd. near Walnut Grove, not the one by the Hawaii Supermarket.

This plaza has gotten a lot more popular in the recent few years, which made the parking lot very challenging, given how small the parking lot. But worth it for visiting an excellent authentic Vietnamese restaurant such as this establishment. The restaurant itself is cozy. A lot of open ventilations. Floor to ceiling glass window for wall that opens up for air and breeze, which honestly makes dining in quite more enjoyable. Something I don't know how many people realize. It's busy enough to be lively, but not too crazy enough for a long wait. At least not personally every time. Hats off to the chef, owner, and the staffs for making this business fun and enjoyable. I don't know the name of the owner, who I believe goes around and checks on the customers every time I visit. Also, another staff, Marie, who always serves my friends and I, is one amazing person! Very engaging and fun to interact with! One of the best employee (sorry if you are actually one of the managers) I ever met. I actually don't need to say anything much about the food because everything I've tried was great! You can't go wrong with anything at this place. Around San Gabriel or even the greater area, this place has been my top favorite Vietnamese restaurant in the recent years, and counting!

The broth is perfectly seasoned and really ties the whole bowl together. I always ask to skip the blood cubes and opt for extra pig's feet instead, which they handle perfectly. That's right, 5 minutes. Although I did go around 9:50AM so there wasn't a line nor another party in the dining area. Food: I woke up craving Vietnamese and this place didn't disappoint. The Bon Rieu had the depth of flavor that I crave. Honestly, I judge most Vietnamese pho restaurants by their Bon Rieu because some places simply use seafood powder in their stock to fake it. What results is a very thinly flavored broth that has very little umami. Bon Rieu should have THE MOST umami of any soup dish because of its tomato and crab base. That's how you can tell if a place is cutting corners. The Nem Cuom is huge and the dipping sauce is generous. The House Special Tea is reminiscent of a passion fruit green tea from a boba place. Sweetened just enough to not be saccharine. Ambiance: Quite small. I believe one of their main issues may be parking during peak hours as it shares a tiny parking lot with many other businesses. HOWEVER, neighborhood parking is plentiful and just around the corner past the Sheridan Hotel and Starbucks. Round the corner and you'll find plenty of parking throughout the day.

I came by on a Friday at 7pm for a dinner (weekend before Mother's Day) and was able to get seated in 15 minutes. They have a Yelp waitlist but you must go in person to join the waitlist. There's a spacious parking lot but there's rarely any spots available and will require you to wait for a free one. The interior is honestly very pretty. It's decorated with overhead chandeliers with bright lights and marble tables. When your table is ready, they also give you a tray full of chopsticks, napkins, and forks. Each table also has hoisin, sriracha, chili sauce, and another sauce I'm not too sure about. After we ordered, I got my pho da biet maybe 5 minutes after. The cha gios also came out a few minutes after too. Unfortunately, my boyfriend's com tam was forgotten about until after I devoured my pho. We even asked them about it in the middle and it was checked on but we weren't updated and thought they had went ahead and cancelled it but it still came out. No biggy, we packed it to-go since we basically split the pho da biet. Food: Pho da biet (9.5/10): The pho was soooo delicious. It was meaty with a little bit of sweetness to it. This is one of the few places where I don't feel the need to sauce down my pho to enjoy it. There's a good amount of meat in here. If you're a tendon enjoyer, there's about 3 big chunks in here. I love the way they separate everything. If you order this, it comes with the stone bowl at no additional costs. They separate the noodles and ribeye on the side and let you "decorate" it yourself. There was also a good amount of noodles in here. Com tam (7.9/10): I thought that this one was just okay. We got the grilled pork and grilled pork chop and I thought that the meats were cooked perfectly. There was a nice char to the meats and it was seasoned deliciously. It came with a lot of rice and a side of soup to enjoy! I did enjoy this fish sauce more than the one that came with the egg rolls. Overall, I wish this dish came out the same time as the pho so we could've enjoyed it together. Cha gio/Imperial Rolls (7/10): I love egg rolls but this one didn't really stand out to me. It comes with a good amount of vegetables that you can use to wrap your egg rolls in. I wish the fish sauce that came with this was more salty. Maybe it was that day, but I couldn't really tell what was inside the filling. It was all mushed in together instead of different layers. The skin was very thin and crispy which I really liked!

After looking over the menu, we ended up ordering: #219 Bun Rieu, $13.49 prior to tax- I love bun rien and always order it if it is on the menu because I do not see it on the menu at a lot of Vietnamese restaurants. Bun Rieu is a rice noodle soup that is flavored with tomatoes, shrimp paste, fish sauce and a meat broth (usually pork). The meatballs in this dish is typically made with crab, egg and usually pork. This dish was flavorful and delicious. The portion size was more than plenty for one person. #20 Com Tam Suon Nuong (Broken Rice with Grilled Pork Chop), $12.49 prior to tax- This meal came with a bowl of soup. My husband ordered this dish and he enjoyed it. I thought the grilled pork chop was tender and flavorful. This dish also comes with a steamed egg patty/ cake. I found it to be a little too salty to my liking but my husband enjoyed it. We both thought the soup was seasoned perfectly and was flavorful. ---------------------------------- (Total= $28.71 after tax, prior to tip) Service was friendly but minimal. Overall, we had a good dining experience and I would come here again.

We stopped by for dinner around 630pm, the place was not too busy and we were instantly greeted and seated by an older gentleman. I was instantly amazed at how fresh and clean everything looked. We ordered 1lb of grilled shrimp, so fresh and tasty with a little char, the spring rolls were tasty and crunchy and served with a nice portion of side veggies, the pho's were also so good and comforting with a nice clear broth with plenty of noodles and meat/ meatballs. The sever and staff were all so friendly and attentive and service was quick. They have table service but similar to Denny's, they bring you the bill and you pay at the register once you're finished. We originally stopped by with a craving for the grilled shrimp, which did not disappoint, but left with a new favorite overall place to add to the regular list. To note, I found street parking right in front fairly easily, but I think there was a small parking lot on the side as well.

I've only dined in a few times because it's always crowded and usually has a long wait, so I typically order my food to go. I enjoy both the combination pho and the chicken pho. The broth is rich and flavorful, and their egg rolls are also very good. On my last visit, I ordered a rice plate with pork chop, egg rolls, and shrimp paste. The dish was tasty. The pork chop was well seasoned and tender. They included two egg rolls and two pieces of shrimp paste, which I thought was generous. I just wish the pork chop portion had been a little larger. The rice was also delicious and had a buttery flavor. The meal was enough for two people to share. Prices are a bit higher compared to other pho restaurants, but the food quality is consistently good. Customer service was great. I placed my order online, and it was ready when I arrived.

For our family of seven, we always call ahead and order their famous baked medium catfish the day before so it's ready when we arrive for our reservation. It's always the highlight of the meal. We also never skip the 7 Courses of Beef and usually order two sets for the table. Everything is delicious and perfect for sharing family style. What keeps us coming back, beyond the amazing food, is the warm and welcoming family atmosphere. The staff always make us feel at home and Kevin is hands down the best! He's friendly, attentive and always helps make our celebrations feel extra special. Great food, great service, and a place that truly feels like family. Highly recommend for any family gathering or special occasion!

Our server, Kevin, truly made the night memorable. He is hilarious and charismatic, ensuring we were well taken care of while keeping everyone laughing throughout the entire meal. The food was fantastic, especially the large catfish we ordered along with several other dishes. A helpful tip for anyone planning a visit is to order the catfish in advance when you make your reservation, as it is a popular item that takes some time to prepare. The dining style is interactive and fun since you wrap your own rolls using the catfish and various meats accompanied by fresh vegetables and vermicelli. We were there celebrating a friend's birthday, and the staff was kind enough to keep our cake in the fridge until we were ready for dessert at the end of the night. Everything was delicious, and the service made the celebration even more special.
