Small parking lot or street parking This place gets busy and can easily get packed I've tried different items from the menu and they did not disappoint. The broken rice dish, egg rolls, bun rieu, banh beo. They were my top favorites! Staff is also super nice and friendly

My family has been coming here for what feels like two decades, and it's one of those places that just keeps doing its thing well. Over the years they've really stepped it up too from a nonfuzzy hole in the wall place back in its hay days. You can tell by how busy it is pretty much any time of day. I always go for the broken rice plates. The steamed egg cake still comes with that nice yolk in the middle, and everything is served on big plates and bowls that actually get filled. The portions are generous, and not just for show. The meats are flavorful, and the shredded pork has that slightly dry, fluffy texture that tastes housemade and really satisfying. Service is quick, which I appreciate in this crowded strip mall restaurant. They clearly keep things well prepped in the kitchen, so food and water cups come out fast even when it's packed. It's one of those reliable spots we keep going back to, and with the new bakery opening in the same plaza, it just gives us another reason to stop by.

Really solid spot! I know this is more of a rice plate restaurant but the pho and bun rieu were still really good. I do feel we should've stuck with the rice plates and would come back just for that. The star of the show was the Banh Beo...girl let me tell you we were so incredibly full afterwards. Usually the individual dishes are much smaller but these were huge so it was a little difficult to eat. Really delicious! Also the little croissants they give at the beginning is so fun.

I met up with a friend here for a late weekday lunch, and it was still pretty busy as we waited about 10-15 minutes for a table. I ordered the tomato bún riêu noodles (without the pork blood), and my friend got a rice plate with shredded pork, pork chop, fish cake, egg cake, and an egg roll. The portions were huge, we both ended up with leftovers. That said, I felt like both dishes were a bit underwhelming in flavor and could've used more seasoning. I still prefer Nha Trang on Valley when it comes to bún riêu. On the plus side, service was quick and friendly, and the menu here is much more extensive, with a variety of fish dishes and desserts. Perhaps their pho or bun noodle dishes will be better.

Love this place! Love how yummy and strong their Vienamese coffee is. Super clean place. Parking: parking lot/ street parking. Service is quick. Everything you order is yummy and the portions are quite large.

I've had this place many times, and it's usually pretty crowded. I had food delivered this time, and I like that the portions are quite large. The food itself was delicious, and the to-go packaging is excellent. I tried the following items: Hu Tieu Mi Nam Vang - So good. It came with a nice bowl of soup, and the dry version had a sweet and savory sauce. There was a large selection of meats, and it ended up being enough for two meals. (4.5/5) Com Tam - A staple here and always worth getting. I got it with baked egg, shredded pork, and grilled beef. The portion of rice was huge and also ended up being two meals. Great value. (4.5/5) I was told the wait would be 30 minutes, and every time I've been here, we've had to wait if we didn't come early. Definitely plan ahead.

I heard their broken rice is very popular, so I ordered #30 which came with pork chop, shredded pork, steamed egg and shrimp paste, along with some pickled veggies and side of soup. It was delicious. The rice is a bit dry but I think that's how it is, but when you eat it with the side of soup it comes with its perfect. The rice soaks up the soup very well. Great combo! Or drench it in their fish sauce which was good. Their steamed egg was so flavorful, the best thing on the plate. Next time I'll skip the charred beef, it was on the drier side. I much prefer the pork chop which was surprisingly more softer and juicy. I'd skip #35, just get the #30 combo. I ordered to go, came on a Monday afternoon and it was packed. They are def popular that they are busy on a Monday afternoon.

Your go-to spot for affordable vietnamese food in the 626. The portion and value are pretty much unmatched. Everytime I visit this spot, there's always a line. So expect to wait a bit, especially with a bigger party. Stamp of approval from my grandparents too. Charbroiled pork rice plate, 8/10: FAT portion. Comforting. Familiar. No surprises, a dish that always delivers exactly what you want. They don't skimp on the proteins. You can choose to add the vietnamese quiche, pork skin; I'd recommend it. Not many other spots do this, but they add crispy fried pork skin on top of the rice. It also comes with a small bowl of broth that you can chase the rice with. So good. Cha gio, 8.2/10: Tastes homey. I always appreciate spots that use the rice paper instead of the typical egg roll wrapper since it creates a different textural experience. They're plump and filled. A little too greasy sometimes though.

Went to Com Tam Kieu in San Gabriel today for lunch and ordered the number 34 com tam bi cha bo nuong tau hu ky which is broken rice with shredded pork, egg with crab, charbroiled beef and bean curd skin. They are known for their broken rice so make sure to order that if you come here. It really comes down to what type foods you like along side your rice as all the plates are customizable. If they have that item you want, you can always ask them to add it on top of your order. The meats have a nice charred taste to it and everything goes well with fish sauce. I like to add chili to my fish sauce for a touch of spice. The plate comes with a couple cucumbers and pickled carrot and daikon. Each rice plate comes with a bowl of soup as well for you to start off. My friends and I ordered the banh beo which are mini rice cakes topped with shredded shrimp and I believe mung bean paste and fish sauce. The rice cakes were soft and loaded with plenty of toppings on top. You add some fish sauce and try to slurp it up in one gulp. My friends and I came on Wednesday at 1:30pm and there was about a 20 minute wait which was odd. They have plenty of tables inside but the parking lot is small. We were able to find street parking and you can always check the back for parking as well. Average price per plate is about $15 which is not too bad as it is a pretty large plate. Service is friendly and food comes out pretty quick after you order. Place accepts card but there is a 3% charge. No charge on debit card but cash is king.

Ok ok, I am adding 2 stars to my previous review, making this a 5-star restaurant. Since my last review, this place has revitalized their space, their menu, and their quality. Wow! I love their pho but this place is known for their com tam. Service is good. This place can get super busy and packed. They play top 40 hits, usually have the news playing on mute on the TV, and with a packed restaurant, I didn't find it to be particularly noisy. Parking lot is small but I usually can find parking. Overall, the food is a must! Buying to-go is also good to bring home for an easy dinner.

I ordered the bun rieu here and banh beo for takeout. The ambiance of the restaurant looked authentic and cozy. The cashier was quick and it was an easy pickup. The bun rieu was legit, very flavorful and even had tofu & pork's blood in it. I don't usually eat those but needed some iron since I was feeling sick so it did the trick. The banh beo blew me away. It had plenty of tasty toppings like ground shrimp, crispy pork rind, and fried onion. Do I dare say this might be the best banh beo I've had in like the last few years?? Yes! Both the portions were huge. I was able to eat both over two separate meals so it was worth it. Can't wait to go back for more delicious banh beo.

Wow, I barely recognized this place! I just visited for the first time since the renovation and menu revamp, and the vibe is completely different. The inside environment is super clean now and looks great with all the neon lighting. A few tips before you go: * The Wait: Even on a weekday, this place is packed. There were huge crowds outside when we left. * Timing: Try to get there between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM. If you show up any later, expect at least an hour wait. * Portions: Be warned--every single dish is huge. We came for the beef rib soup and pho. The bowls are massive and loaded with high-quality meat; honestly, my wife and I couldn't even finish one bowl between the two of us! We also noticed the grilled pork, egg rolls, and Banh Beo are super popular. They used to be known mostly for their broken rice, but we were too full to even try it this time. I did manage to fit in the three-color dessert drink, which was a nice treat. Despite how busy it was, the service was solid and the table turnover was fast. This is definitely the spot if you want to explore dishes from all different regions of Vietnam. We'll definitely be back to try more, but we're bringing a bigger appetite next time!

I ordered the com tam with pork chop and the bun beo! The pork chop rice was so delicious and the portion was HUGE!! The bun beo was prettt good with some real crab on it as well. The food came out really quickly and I was able to get the server's attention quickly too. This is more of a family restaurant and a nice sit down ambience!

Is this place still open? Google map shows it's temporary closed

They're on vacation until 11/1. Went there yesterday and saw the notice.

    This place still open?

    Yes.

    Is payment cash only?

No. You can pay with card, minimum order $30 for no fees. Otherwise, they apply a surcharge.

I came at 7:30pm on a Saturday, why was the restaurant closed?

Is this the same owner and place as the one on valley blvd?

Yes we’re the same owner as the location on Valley Blvd. near Walnut Grove, not the one by the Hawaii Supermarket.

That's right, 5 minutes. Although I did go around 9:50AM so there wasn't a line nor another party in the dining area. Food: I woke up craving Vietnamese and this place didn't disappoint. The Bon Rieu had the depth of flavor that I crave. Honestly, I judge most Vietnamese pho restaurants by their Bon Rieu because some places simply use seafood powder in their stock to fake it. What results is a very thinly flavored broth that has very little umami. Bon Rieu should have THE MOST umami of any soup dish because of its tomato and crab base. That's how you can tell if a place is cutting corners. The Nem Cuom is huge and the dipping sauce is generous. The House Special Tea is reminiscent of a passion fruit green tea from a boba place. Sweetened just enough to not be saccharine. Ambiance: Quite small. I believe one of their main issues may be parking during peak hours as it shares a tiny parking lot with many other businesses. There's a spacious parking lot but there's rarely any spots available and will require you to wait for a free one. The interior is honestly very pretty. It's decorated with overhead chandeliers with bright lights and marble tables. When your table is ready, they also give you a tray full of chopsticks, napkins, and forks. Each table also has hoisin, sriracha, chili sauce, and another sauce I'm not too sure about. After we ordered, I got my pho da biet maybe 5 minutes after. The cha gios also came out a few minutes after too. Unfortunately, my boyfriend's com tam was forgotten about until after I devoured my pho. We even asked them about it in the middle and it was checked on but we weren't updated and thought they had went ahead and cancelled it but it still came out. No biggy, we packed it to-go since we basically split the pho da biet. Food: Pho da biet (9.5/10): The pho was soooo delicious. It was meaty with a little bit of sweetness to it. This is one of the few places where I don't feel the need to sauce down my pho to enjoy it. There's a good amount of meat in here. If you're a tendon enjoyer, there's about 3 big chunks in here. I love the way they separate everything. If you order this, it comes with the stone bowl at no additional costs. They separate the noodles and ribeye on the side and let you "decorate" it yourself. There was also a good amount of noodles in here. Com tam (7.9/10): I thought that this one was just okay. We got the grilled pork and grilled pork chop and I thought that the meats were cooked perfectly. There was a nice char to the meats and it was seasoned deliciously. It came with a lot of rice and a side of soup to enjoy! I did enjoy this fish sauce more than the one that came with the egg rolls. Overall, I wish this dish came out the same time as the pho so we could've enjoyed it together. Cha gio/Imperial Rolls (7/10): I love egg rolls but this one didn't really stand out to me. It comes with a good amount of vegetables that you can use to wrap your egg rolls in. I wish the fish sauce that came with this was more salty. Maybe it was that day, but I couldn't really tell what was inside the filling. It was all mushed in together instead of different layers. The skin was very thin and crispy which I really liked!

It has the meat and lettuce wrapped inside and comes with a dipping sauce. I believe the sauce is made with ground shrimp. For $8 for 3 rolls it is a steal compared to other restaurants. If you are craving Brodards in OC this place can satisfy your craving. Their che ba mau which is a 3 bean dessert has a lot of beans inside topped with coconut milk and shaved ice. It is the person drink to finish your meal and it is not too sweet.

Com Tam is decent, rice texture is on point. Pork chop is marinated well but not enough lemongrass flavor, tender and not dry at all. Baked egg was good but not amazing, seemed like it missing shredded wood ear mushroom. Che Ba Mau by far hands down the worst I've had. Red bean wasn't soft, outer shell/skin was still pretty tough. Not much mung bean either after stirring it literally for about 4 seconds the mung bean basically disintegrated into the liquid. The liquid.. watered down skim milk, not a trace of coconut flavor anywhere. I didn't know you can mess up Che Ba Mau until I had it from here.

I ordered egg rolls and the Pho Dac Biet. The egg rolls came out first. Fresh from the fryer with lettuce, herbs and the nuoc mam/fish sauce. I ended up fishing that on my own (first meal of the day haha). I was wondering where my pho was. I flagged down the server and he seemingly forgot. He rushed to the kitchen to get that going and it came out within a few minutes. Broth check first. It was light and had flavor. Didn't need to add hot sauce or hoisin sauce. Dressed up the pho with the herbs and went at it. Finished that as well. Pretty extensive menu. Fresh food. Overall, a nice place to grab some Vietnamese food.

New experience alert…read more My good friend Ben shared with me this Vietnamese place. I've never been to a place where they specialize in the catch fish where it's prepared Vietnamese style. You make these rolls with the fish with the sauce that you create along with all the side raddish's, carrots, and lettuce. We got the medium fish and it filled the 3 of us. The service was great. Our server got us everything we needed whenever we needed it. It feels like a bbq place and there's definitely a like so come early. My friend pre ordered the fish because it takes some time to prepare. Super delicious meal. You've got to try it.

Our server, Kevin, truly made the night memorable. He is hilarious and charismatic, ensuring we were well taken care of while keeping everyone laughing throughout the entire meal. The food was fantastic, especially the large catfish we ordered along with several other dishes. A helpful tip for anyone planning a visit is to order the catfish in advance when you make your reservation, as it is a popular item that takes some time to prepare. The dining style is interactive and fun since you wrap your own rolls using the catfish and various meats accompanied by fresh vegetables and vermicelli. We were there celebrating a friend's birthday, and the staff was kind enough to keep our cake in the fridge until we were ready for dessert at the end of the night. Everything was delicious, and the service made the celebration even more special.
