The restaurant is always clean, the food is consistently phenomenal, and what really keeps us coming back is the owners. Came here for the summer rolls and they were delicious and so refreshing! I love that there's no vermicelli inside, so you really get the fresh veggies and meat in every bite. The crispy roll added a nice bite to it, and the nước chấm was really good--just a little spicy, not too sweet and not too salty. The meats were very tender and flavorful, especially the lemongrass chicken, and nothing tasted overcooked or burnt despite being charbroiled. They're also really generous with the meat portions! I definitely underestimated how filling these would be--by the second roll I was already getting full, and by the fourth my jaw was getting a workout because the wrapper is chewy Service was very friendly and the place has a comfortable, homey feel. After 20+ years of loyally supporting this family of restaurants (Ninh Hoa, Summer Rolls, and now Nem), a recent visit has us reconsidering our patronage of Nem, and possibly their related locations. I went in for takeout. They gladly took my order and rang me up. When paying by card, I explicitly declined the tip options on the screen. However, while waiting for my food, I checked my receipt and realized a 19% tip had been added anyway. I asked the cashier about the unauthorized charge and he refunded the tip amount. Honestly, the charge is unethical, but I might have overlooked it--unfortunately, many businesses have questionable tip charges - Nem is not the first. The actual dealbreaker happened when my food was ready. The owner handed me my takeout and, threw a defensive jab: "You know, we were already closed and the workers stayed behind to make your order." It felt like blatant tip-shaming for a tip that was never authorized to begin with. If you are closed, simply decline the order. Do not gladly accept the business, sneak in an unauthorized charge, and then guilt-trip the customer. read more

Got their vermicelli bowl with Nem Pork, shrimp cakes, and shrimp egg rolls. Way bigger portion than I expected as pictures we saw didn't do justice. The pork certainly a game changer, so flavorful and came as just perfect texture. Also don't skip the chili sauce and chili oil on the table as they're such awesome complements. It's a very clean, kinda hip place but the food is very mediocre. The food is specifically very sterile. The meat looks cookie cutter. The raw veggies were wilted, the soup doesn't have that umami or richness of bone broth. But having said that, it may have an audience. The sauce for dipping is too thick and bland. Both the food and service were outstanding. Pho is exclusive to this location, so my husband and I really wanted to try it out. We shared the house special beef noodle soup containing filet mignon, well-cooked beef, soft tendon, and beef tripe (pho dac biet). The broth was hot and flavorful, the noodles were the perfect texture, and all the ingredients seemed fresh. We also had the dry vermicelli with charbroiled sliced pork shoulder, shrimp egg rolls, and shrimp cake. The portion of this was quite big. I really enjoyed the pork, which had a smoky, caramelized flavor. The shrimp egg rolls added a wonderful crunchy texture to the entire dish. Very delicious! We ordered the Charbroiled Beef Vermicelli, Pho Dac Biet, and some classic Summer Rolls which is a MUST whenever visiting. Pho Dac Biet is such a classic dish to get, as good as any standard pho can get. I was pretty addicted to the broth as it wasn't too salty. Portions are quite big and there's no size adjustments, 10/10. The Charbroiled Beef Vermicelli is another classic dish to order. Presentation on this dish is spectacular and is a white overwhelming with the amount of ingredients on the plate. Each bite is full of flavor no matter what combination of ingredients you go with. My hubby and I arrived at 5:30 pm on July 3rd (Friday). We got lucky that there was a table available and we were seated right away. This dish is a cold vermicelli salad with lettuce, bean sprouts, carrots, cucumber, Thai basil, two pieces of shrimp egg roll, shrimp cake and crushed peanuts. Each order was $16. When our order arrived, we were shocked to see two pieces of grilled sausages, instead of actual pork and/or beef. In all the other Vietnamese restaurants we've been, this dish would have actual bbq pork and/or beef slices, not sausages. The sausages were flavorful but had a gummy texture. This felt like a switch and bait. We also wished there were more veges such as lettuce, carrots and bean sprouts. The egg rolls were very crispy but I did not taste the shrimp filling. It tasted like mostly fried egg roll wrapper. The shrimp cake was good and the dressing was nice, but alas! They were not enough to save the dish. I do not like giving negative reviews but I gotta keep it honest. Everything we got was delicious and the portion size was amazing! Everyone was pleasantly surprised by their order, not a single miss.
