I took my wife there for dinner New Year's eve. They had a very nice blues/jazz band. The music was great. this is the first time I've been here since they moved, and I love the decor of the new place. We ate some very good food. The prices are not as high as I would have expected. they Thipi Platter was a great choice for appetizers. I might have to go back there and eat the pot stickers! They were excellent. My wife had Pad Thai, and she loved it. I had the Spicy Seafood (rated 2 peppers), and it was fabulous. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is how the wait staff looks. In a new place, I would have thought they would be in white shirts and black slacks. Our waitress had a t-shirt. My wife ordered a specialty drink and it came in a Miller Lite glass. I'll say it's a solid upgrade to 3.5 stars. The service was faster this time and our waitress was pleasant but I thought could've been a bit more detailed. Pad Thai was solid. I requested extra bean sprouts but didn't get any. Which wasn't a big deal until I saw the bill and was charged extra for it. I would've protested but I had to get my event for the night. Was excited to try this place 'cause it's pretty inside, and prices were not too high... but I guess that's for a reason 'cause this was the worst Thai food I've ever had in my life. The pad thai was tasteless and gummy, the vegetables were overcooked, and they had no idea how to flavor the food. I have been here many many times and I love it... You most definitely have to get the dry fry most delicious pot strikers ever. (I got my babe hooked on them.) Thipi Noodles was the only thing I'd ordered there the first 5 times very yummy for your tummy. But lately I've gone out of the box. I get the Stir fried vegetable w/chicken brown rice (2 spicy.) Do yourself a favor and don't get 3 spicy. Hotttt! It was fire straight from hell. And to end your meal get the volcano choclate something sweet & tasty. I love the decor, it's absolutely beautiful. Even the restroom is very nice and clean. (that's a plus in my eyes.) The waitresses are always so helpful and nice. I will always go back. Thipi Thai looks nice on the inside. I liked the decor. Dark, rich colors and tall curtains really felt authentic. I even liked the bathrooms with the giant basket thing and the water fountain. The food was extremely flavorful. Some flavors better than others, but thats up to the individual. Overall, I enjoyed the food. One star short for service. The girl barely came to refill drinks or see if we needed anything. It took a while to get the check. We were practically the only ones there so that should not have been a problem. read more

Just had lunch there and it was extraordinarily delicious. It's always good but today was a little extra tasty. I had the Pad Ke Mao. My friend had the featured lunch special of crispy lad nar and he too, said it was extra delicious. I would have given them five stars if one of the chairs wasn't ripped and if they kept the little tray of sauces and chili pastes and ground peanuts on the table instead of having to ask for them. My friend from Thailand told me this is the best and most authentic Thai restaurant in the Chicago area. I had the Garlic Madness with pork via carry out because of the corona virus. The pork was grey and the broccoli and carrots were very overcooked. There was very little sauce. The spice level was good, but, overall, the dish was a disappointment. I love thai food, so I try out different restaurants and this is an easy favorite. Reasonable prices and delicious food. If you like spicy food, try the kung pao with beef or chicken. If you prefer non spicy, go for the pad thai, however most food is great here! Only concern I've noticed is that the service is a little slow during non-busy days. Maybe the better staff is reserved for the busy days. Either way, everyone's friendly! read more

I can't stress this enough, this is THE BEST Thai restaurant I've ever been to. The staff was so great and friendly. The service was so quick, I didn't have time to finish my cup of water before it was refilled. The food was fantastic and had huge portions. I love Thipi Thai. My husband and I have enjoyed every meal there for many, many years as well as our take-out orders. We have even organized several large group meals and every time we have a great time. The new location in Calendar Court is great, way more seating but is still cozy! The new location in Clarendon Hills just opened a few weeks ago. My wife and I stopped in on a Saturday night @ 9:45. They could not have been nicer-and were extremely happy to be in CH. Let's start by saying I'm a local resident that has been going to Tipi Thai for years because of the food. Tonight (7/13/2020) I placed an order thru Door Dash at 6pm and they arrived at the restaurant at 630, plenty of time for a 3 person order. At 7pm we called the restaurant and an extremely rude woman told us the order takes 45 minutes. We said it had been an hour and she said it was almost ready. At 730 our Door Dash driver, STILL WAITING, said he hadn't received the order. We called again and they said the order was placed at 7 and that it takes 45 minutes. Came here with my fam on Nov 20th. Called ahead to mention that I needed to bring outside food in for my child because he is annoyingly picky and mentioned if this was a problem, I understood and would give the restaurant a try a different day. They said it was absolutely fine! When we arrived the restaurant was completely empty (around 3:15). Our waiter was very curt and unwelcoming. I wondered if we did something or if there was a problem. I then decided to say "I'm sorry about the outside food! I did call ahead to ask if it was ok. I didn't want you to think I just took it upon myself to think it was ok." His response was "well you didn't speak to me. I knew nothing about this." He then walked away and set the ambiance for what was a very awkward late lunch. Every time he came to the table he just seemed upset. The place is beautiful and the food was good but the celebratory vibe was ruined for sure. It's strange when waiters make customers feel like a burden. Terrible service today ruining a birthday celebration. I should say that we love this restaurant and have had many parties and dinners here. Our two fish entrees were totally cold and clearly weren't fresh so we told the server. He said he'd bring in hot food, an hour later, we were still awaiting our dishes. A party of ten with two kiddos didn't fare well with that wait. We canceled one entree as we were still waiting for it, the service was terrible as we had to find our server who was sitting at a table with others chatting. Thipi Thai in Glen Ellyn has some of the best green Thai curry we have ever had. Too bad the portions are so small and the prices are so high. Every other Thai dish is ok, but not the best Thai food overall. We like the Thai iced tea, the chicken satay and the pad thai is ok. I'm the big fan of Thipi Thai. Once a while, I would have lunch or dinner at Thipi Thai. Very good service, and nice interior. I highly recommend everybody to try the Thai Iced Tea. I usually order 2, enjoy one before the meal, and enjoy the other during and after the meal. For the entrée, I recommend everything on the menu. And, Yes! I had try all the entrée and never disappointed me. If you like shrimp, order the Bangkok Noodle( they come with the big shrimp!) If you like spicy? You need to try the Tom Yum Soup. This was my first time here. I just got curry. It was delicious. I ordered it for pick up through the yelp app. When I first ordered it, I was informed 45-60 min. although I asked for it to be ready ASAP. I never heard back from yelp or the restaurant if my order was ready. About an hour of waiting, I decided to head over. I didn't have to wait for my food but I do not know how long it sat for. I don't know where to start. I was heading down on my monthly trip to Countryside from Chicago. I stock up at Sams and Trader Joes. I was in the mood to try a new restaurant so I jumped on the Yelp Android site. Low and behold Thipi Thai pops up. I'm a big fan of Thai and was really looking forward to it. As soon as I walked in I was impressed by the decor and really looking forward to an enjoyable meal. The host acted less than hospitable as if it was such an tasking job to sit my party. I glanced at the menu and thought the prices were a tad high. I have been spoiled by all the great Thai spots in Hyde Park, Lincoln Park, and Argyle. The waiter was pretty rude and kinda ignored us for about 10 minutes before taking our order for drinks. We all ordered Jasmine tea. Instead of serving it in a pot, the tea was served in cups and had no flavor.My party and I ordered veggie spring rolls and the coconut soup as appetizers. Soup was good but the veggie spring rolls tasted like cardboard. Not to mention the appetizers were served at the same time as entrees. The chicken Pad Thai was super greasy, bland, and lacked any spice. The sesame salmon with mango sauce lacked any salt and the fish was not fresh. I had a horrible muddy after taste in my mouth all afternoon. The basil chicken fried rice also was just ok. I would not recommend going to Thipi for authentic Thai. Maybe its a suburban version of stir fry but you would be better off eating at Noodles Inc or Panda Express. The place has potential but I will not give it a another chance. read more

Ok this review is for the service alone... I love this place normally and the food is always done right but last night I went in for a carry out order and the girl in the front placed the WHOLE entire order wrong. If this wasn't bad enough, I only realized once I got home and had to return to the restaurant. To be proactive I called and explained how everything was made wrong and the gentleman that answered the phone started with explaining to me that they already remade the food and someone picked it up?! Now I don't know how that was possible but he tried for 10 minutes on the phone to convince me that someone already picked up the new order...I tried to stay calm and he decided he would call me back after checking the front to see if someone picked up the bag...this must have been a mystery bag because I had just called and didn't understand how he could accuse me of already picking up a new order. When he did call me back he clarified the order and asked that I bring back the wrong pick up. I mean of course I don't want it and would bring it back...when we did go back the girl at the front counter was pouty and rude asking why we thought she messed up the order! And finally when the new carry out was ready we didn't get a sorry for the inconvenience or any apology for making us return to pick up a new order!! Not sure why the rude service but I won't be recommending this spot to anyone any time soon...there are plenty of other thai places to try in the area... read more

This is the other reason I miss working in downtown LaGrange...Thipi Thai! Luckily for me they opened another location in Glen Ellyn. I usually order the same thing - cashew chicken and POTSTICKERS. The potstickers are delicious! They are not pan fried like most - they are deep fried. Mmmm. We often would go here for lunch and get two orders because we would fight over them. I have also had the pad siew with beef and I thought that was tasty. I've also had the crab rangoon - can't go wrong with those either. I've also had the basil fried rice and remember enjoying that as well. Me and my collegues always walked away with happy bellies from this place. I came in here twice and I enjoyed it. I went both times after the lunch rush... around or after 2. So it was quiet in the restaurant which was nice inside. I had pad thai both times and it was pretty good. Good sized portions so I always had to take the rest home. I went with a person that never had thai food before and was kinda closed minded about trying new cuisine so she opted for fried rice and some kind of safe looking chicken, the closest thing she can find that resembles what she likes at panda express. Prices are reasonable and service was very friendly. I think that's funny that someone thinks La Grange is rather ritzy... that's laughable but then again it's the midwest. I've been to TONS of Thai restaurants in Chicago and most of them do not compare to the deliciousness of Thipi Thai. The servings are extremely generous and the food is always hot and delicious. Anything from their curry selection is always excellent and the potstickers are great starters. Service can be a little on/off, but the food keeps us coming back. Yum! read more

just went this past week for my son's 12th b day and had a good dining experience other than my ex wife was present and that their heat was out. it's been so damn cold in chicago, it's not funny! anyway, other then feeling like a popsicle, the food was really yummy. my son had a spicy coconut curry which was really good and hot, which hit the spot while we ate in "alaska" the staff was really nice pointing the space heaters at us and constantly filling up our cups with jasmine tea. i had the shrimp pad thai. it was massive, but on the sweet side,which i don't like. the fresh sping rolls were good. my ex got basil beef and according to her, it was yummy. the appetizers were really good in parricular the potstickers and the crab rangoon. overall it is a clean place with clean and for the most part yummy thai fare. the presentation of the food is good as well. enjoy. cheers. read more

We've been searching for a new Thai place in the area since late 2008, and I think we've finally found it! My husband had the sesame chicken, which was mild but flavorful, with light breading. I had pad see ew with chicken, and it was probably the best I've had in years. The noodles were dark and well done, just the way I prefer. The brown sauce, broccoli and chicken were sweet, but not overly so. So good! We had chicken satay and crab rangoon to start. The crab rangoon was decent, but too much air inside and not enough filling for their huge triangular shapes. Service was pleasant and attentive. My iced coffee was divine. I can't wait to return!
