Very overrated. 7pm reservation on a Friday night and they are already out of the fish of the day. Not a good start, especially for a seafood restaurant. No excuse for that, and we should have left at that point. Very limite entree menu. Mussels were very good and came with piping hot french bread. Lobster potholes, which we were told were their best seller, came in an escargot plate but only included 4 1" pieces of lobster and a few shreds of what looked like crab, the rest was butter with very little garlic. It was gross and way overpriced at $19. Rock shrimp was average but overpriced, as was our scallop entree. If you are going to call yourself a high-end seafood restaurant, act like it and serve high end meals. Very disappointed after reading all the hype. We will not be going back...suggest you don't waste your money with all the other great choices in Milwaukee. read more

This restaurant is a must. I would suggest making a reservation if you don't like sitting at the bar to eat. Very pretentious and very overpriced. Less than 1 oz of lobster in the lobster pot pie for the price is ridiculous. The oysters Rockefeller were good. The crab bruschetta was nothing more than a bit of crabmeat with mayo. My husband had the surf and turf which consisted of overdone braised rib with a couple pieces of shrimp. Drinks were ridiculously overpriced for the amount poured. Will not come back. Much better options in Milwaukee and on this street. read more

After much discussion and a last minute desire for seafood close to the hotel we were staying at - we chose Third Coast and sat at the bar as we didn't have reservations. Turned out to be a great choice as the bartenders were highly entertaining and the service excellent. We shared a raw bar platter with two types of oysters, shrimp, seafood salad, salmon tartare....then moved on to a lobster dish. The drinks - from the wine list to the cocktails were wonderful. Oh! While reviewing their menu online I saw that they had a lobster pot pie. I've never had a lobster pot pie, I want to try! I was between ordering True Horizon for my cocktail. It was good. Of course, I ordered the lobster pot pie. It was larger than I expected. It was so good. It was so delicate yet rich and filling. It was super creamy and plenty of lobster chunks. I had to take home at least half of the portion of lobster pot pie. The waiter and service was great. Only 4 stars because : It was my first time here and I only ordered a drink and 1 entree. I used to live on the Oregon and miss oysters so much. I was in Milwaukee for NCAA basketball games with my brother and we decided to try Third Coast Provisions. Loved the decor (art deco meets chemistry lab). Our Server was excellent and the oysters were even better. After the oyster, we had three starters: Lobster Potholes, Steak Tartare, and Crab-cakes. Amazing restaurant in a beautiful building on Milwaukee St. I prefer eating from the raw bar menu in the downstairs bar. I recently dined with friends and was doted upon by a heavy-set fellow who introduced himself as the director of beverages. It sounded made up, and similarly my experience was almost too good to be true. Fresh oysters that taste like low tide, amazing steak tartar, balanced cocktails and a wine list worthy of praise. We ate at this restaurant last night and we ordered 5 items to share. One item was so terrible we had to send it back (clam chowder that was so salty I almost spit it out). The Walleye entree was also overly salty and the fish had a rubbery texture, not at all like the fall apart, melt-in-your-mouth walleye I'm used to eating in WI. We aren't overly picky and I actually LOVE salt, but our bill was very high for a very average meal. We did like the raw oysters and raw Crudo plate, but that was about it. What a lovely find in Milwaukee! Third Coast Provisions is the perfect pre/post dinner spot for Pabst theatre goers looking for an upscale atmosphere and fresh seafood and shellfish. The decor is surprisingly contemporary yet blends perfectly into what feels more like an the old storefront stylish with comfortable seating on two levels. A gorgeous marble bar draws you right in where a friendly bar staff offers an array of craft cocktails and wines to choose from. We would've preferred a glass of champagne to start the night, but opted instead for a crisp Chenin blanc (a Cava and Prosecco fell short upon tasting and were the only bubbly by the glass offered). The maitre de was very accommodating when we requested the table in the front window even though he had already set a table for our group of eight towards the back of the restaurant. We promised to depart before his next reservation and he did not hesitate to oblige our request. We loved the menu and sampled many of its most popular offerings to include the Shellfish tower, chargrilled oysters and a decadent Lobster pot pie with black truffle butter. Our only regret is that we had to skip dessert to make it our show in time. Everyone in our party was very impressed, and all agreed we would certainly return! read more

Stopped in before seeing Hamilton. Our server was attentive and helpful. Wine selection was a bit tight on the lower-cost range, but there were enough options and we found a nice bottle of Fess Parker wine for $65. We had the appetizer special-browned butter grilled oysters with a curry-ish sauce for starters. I had a five ounce filet Oscar---meat was tender and cooked very close to the medium rare I ordered (I am very picky with my meat temperatures). The crab with hollandaise was moist and very flavorful. My wife had a striped seabass that was really good. We ended with a dark chocolate cake that needed just a little dollop of whipped cream or créme anglaise or something for a little moisture/texture, but on balance was quite good. The final tab with tip was just under $250, which puts this on the expensive side for us, but we would definitely go back in the future. read more

I went in at 7:00 pm on a Tuesday after traveling and working all day. What a relief this place is. Beautiful inside, high ceilings and bold moldings. The custom Brass fixtures behind the bar are beautiful. But enough about the feel, the food was fantastic. I started with a half a dozen raw oysters, 3 from each coast. As good as any I've had. Next I had the lobster potholes. Fresh lobster and crab in heavenly butter/creme sauce. I can't describe it adequately. The staff were a little bored and very entertaining - I'll be back again for cocktails if nothing else as the bartender, Christina, mixed up one of the best Manhattans I've ever had. We visited here for the 1st time last Saturday. We had a 7 pm reservation for 4 but only 1 of us arrived on time. 3 of us had a bit of trouble parking (and valet line was long) so we probably walked in at about 7:10. We had to wait at the bar for a while for a table, but did not feel badly about it, as we felt it was justified since we were late for our reservation. Imagine our surprise when, shortly before we were seated, a gentleman (who I am presuming was the manager?) came up to us and apologized for the delay in seating us, saying the 1st round of drinks at our table was on him. What a nice way to start our dinner! Once seated we had excellent service. Our server demonstrated extreme knowledge of the menu and was attentive throughout. The atmosphere is so fresh and fun also, and most importantly of course, the food was amazing! I had read some of the reviews before we went, so I knew I wanted to try the lobster potholes (definitely as good as described) and the lobster mac and cheese (delicious also). We also enjoyed the oysters rockefeller, the blue crab and pimento croquettes and another dish or two that I am not recalling (the lobster dishes were my favorites). We shared 2 desserts also and although I am not normally a key lime pie fan, I loved their key lime creameaux and would highly recommend it. Our experience could not have been better and I am still bowled over by their picking up our 1st round of drinks, as the wait really was not that long and we were a bit late for our reservation. My husband and I had a Saturday night reservation for our Anniversary. We were extremely pleased with all aspects of our experience. Billy our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. I started with the stone and stalk cocktail. Refreshing apricot and rhubarb vodka martini which was perfect for this warm summer night. We went with small plates and Billy's recommendations. Smoked whitefish dip was a perfect starter with light cracker and a creamy and perfectly salted dip. We shared the lobster potholes, lobster Mac and cheese and Milwaukee charred oysters. I could have bathed in the potholes sauce, perfect buttery goodness. The oysters were grilled with beer, shallots and pastrami - sounded weird but was delicious. Grilled lemon added just the right touch and acid. Dessert was also excellent. Ginger lemon brûlée for me and carrot cake for the husband. Both unique and perfect size for an end to a great meal. Visited 3CP for Downtown Dining Week and it was definitely busy for a Monday night, I'm assuming because of the great deals. I got the DTD deal and my boyfriend got 2 of the small plates, so all in all we shared 4 menu items and it was the perfect amount. Lobster Potholes - order an additional brioche off the bat to soak but all the goodness! King Crab Bruschetta - delicious and fresh tasting but a small portion (3 pieces, which is always strange to me as you would think most people dine as groups of 2 or 4) Lobster Mac and Cheese - honestly why I chose this restaurant from the DTD list and it did not disappoint! Crab and Pimento Croquettes - deliciously crispy with a bit of spice and a great dill sauce that added a nice touch Service was a little bit slower than I would have liked BUT it was a full house, so it's understandable. Plus our awesome waiter Billy and the bus boys/runners were frequently checking in to see if we needed water refills, another drink, etc. so it was much less noticeable. The decor inside the space was beautiful and I found myself looking around a lot. We were right in the front by the windows which I liked, but if we go back anytime soon I will ask to be seated in the lofted "balcony" area in the back of the restaurant because that seems like an awesome view as well!
