Delicious food - from the wings to the ribs to the burgers and blackened steak! Great service! And all reasonably priced!

This is a pretty nice place. Nestled right in the "heart" of small town NJ, I immediately felt like I was an outsider the moment I stepped into the place. I grabbed a seat at the bar and was greeted with that home style NJ flavor of hospitality. A bunch of locals all around me talking and having a great time. You could tell they were regulars because they called the bartender by her name and everyone said bye as they left. The food was good...not great but good and actually exceeded my expectations. A couple sat next to me and struck up conversation. I had the ribeye special with baked sweet potato. Even with two beers on the tab and tip my bill was less than 50 bucks. Enjoyed he visit. Not all dives have great food. Stale carpeting and beat up decor is NOT charming when the food is just OK. Food is passable. You won't gag. Nostalgia is what keeps the parking lot full, I think. Lower end prices lure the baby-boomers. read more

You can't give Thirsty's five stars because it is anything but elegant. But if you want a good meal at a good price, along with right-priced cocktails, it's about as good as it gets. We regularly drive 20 minutes to go there on weeknights. There's not one ounce of pretense. We especially love their Thursday night specials on clams and buffalo wings (50 cents each), and many of their entrees are surprisingly healthy, tasty and fairly priced, which helps make up for the deep martinis and big glasses of wine. This is not the place to go for that special evening out, but it is totally the place for an easy-going night out of the kitchen. read more

It's my only local bar and grill that isnt a hefty priced chain restaraunt so I frequent at least a few times a month. It's alright, nothing special. I wouldn't call it a dive bar bc it's nicer than a dive. The well drinks are served in a pint glass, but I wish there were a little more alcohol to go with the larger glass. You can't taste a thing. The food isn't bad, but it's not 5 star stellar either. If you want a burger or sandwich with a beer close to home in Branchburg without a hefty price tag... well this is where you go. read more

Thirsty's is one of the local places that you can always go for a great meal and a cocktail. The service is right on, and the food comes out piping hot! The philly cheesesteak is great, but I really love getting the ahi tuna! It's delicious!! We've also had the clams for an appetizer and love that they have different dinner specials every night. Hi, go there weekly and live in the area. Thirsty's menu has improved over the years and this is one of the two reasons we go there again. The main reason is the staff. Cindy, Dee, Deanne, Linda and the rest of the staff are great to us. Once you go there a few times, they instantly know your drinks(not like some other restaurants) and your menu items. The one thing in particular that stands out is that everyone that works there has been there since the inception(or close to it). Being in the business, I find this a rarity. So, with New TV's, great staff and good food we find it easily to migrate there instead of Ruby's or Friday's or Murphys. And no I don't work at Thirsty's. (lol).. read more

Yes, I give them 5 stars, and here's why: The service is always excellent. The staff is friendly. The food is way above par for a mid-priced establishment. The specials are well-made and tasty. The last special I had was the grilled scallop salad. It was perfect. Other dishes that are outstanding are the crusted tuna dinner, Chicken cordon bleu dinner, steak salad, strip steak dinner, burgers, and the house salad with crunbled bleu cheese. The Sunday pasta night ia a great value and the food is great as well. I am never disappointed with my visits to Thirsty's. read more

We love Thirsty's and we go there at least once a month. They have the BEST hamburgers around. They are very resonable and delicious. It is a Bar/Pub. You may feel intimidated when you walk in because it seems everyone at the Bar must be regulars and they all LOOK when the door opens BUT just walk to the back where there are nice tables or booths for you to sit and have dinner. Previous reviews said the service was slow but we have never found that to be the case. I have had there fish dinners and steak dinners and have always found them to be plentiful and delicious. But I have to tell you ...whenever we are in a mood for Hamburgers we always go to Thirstys! read more

Thirstys is a local dive bar. You will get what you expect from a local dive bar experience. Food is actually kind of good... but the rest of the experience is lacking. The following all happened during our one visit last year. 1) There was no parking. We parked in a ravine on a side street. 2) No one showed us to a table. 3) Our table was dirty and there was a pile of chicken wing bones under our table. 4) The waiter was either very busy or very disinterested in our order. Very little/slow service. 5) There was a fight that happened in the back room. The bartender broke it up. 6) A birthday cake was served at the bar. Many people sang. read more

We went last night. Only the salad was great. It all went downhill from there. Each table was served by all of the waitresses there causing much confusion. They all kept asking if we wanted refills then didnt bring them. We waited a long time for our dinners. The bread was room temperature and average. I ordered prime rib and was served a fatty steak. The burger was a frozen patty that was almost raw on one side and well done on the other. The bun was too big for the burger. The fries were not hot. we will never go there again! read more

SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE. My boyfriend and I went there the other night around 930 we walked in and waited 5 mins before asking to seat ourselves. We sit down for ten mins and a waitress comes up and says what do u want to drink.. Thought it was a rude way to ask but brushed it off waiting a few more mins for our drinks. She then brought menus over and waited what seemed like forever for her to come back meanwhile she was at a few tables down chatting. We got soup for a app and half of my soup was on the plate underneath. We got out entree and after finishing she came over and said are you full? I said yes and before I could say I want it wrapped she threw napkins and utensils on there and did the same to my boyfriend who has a good amount left on plate. Was so annoyed with the service. I don't know waitress' names but she had brown hair, glasses and thin. I suggest if you go try not to get her because food is excellent but I cannot stand rude service! read more

Thirsty's is absolutely amazing. I have eaten here many times, have tried many different dishes and have yet to find something that I don't like. Everything tastes DELICIOUS! Some dishes that I love include lobster ravioli, stuffed mushrooms, calamari, grilled salmon, etc. All of their steaks are to die for. The service is great and the environment is fun. You can go there even for just a drink and to watch sports. I highly recommend this place to everyone! read more

This is another establishment that was withstood the test of time. I've been coming here since the 90's when it was a hangout for the hockey league I played in. I can honestly say I have never had a bad experience here. It's gotten some bad reviews (everyone has different tastes) but it is what it is. It does look like a dive from outside and back in the day when you opened​ the door, cigarette smoke would pour out like something from a Cheech and Chong movie. The beer selection is not extensive and this isn't a hipster place. It's a locals hangout, a place for softball players to go after the game. It was around when Branchburg was much more rural and may come off as rednecky. However the food is very good and the prices decent. The hot calamari is very good and my last NJ visit I had the chicken francaise sandwich which was quite tasty. If you're looking for the Ryland Inn keep on driving. But if you want a good dive bar with tasty food and wacky locals, check this place out. read more

What a difference a year makes. The food has gone from great to horrible. Went to Thirsty's last week with friends and everyone who had chicken got sick, myself included. I figured bad chicken can happen at any restaurant so I wasn't ready to give up on Thirsty's. Went back for lunch today 7/23/18 with 3 friends. One of my friends and I ordered each ordered the French Dip. The roast beef was almost impossible to chew and had a sour taste. Obviously the beef was not fresh. One of my other friends ordered the fish and chips. He said the fish was very under cooked. I explained to the bartender that 2 friends and I got sick on bad chicken last week that we had at Thristy's and now I'm afraid another friend and I were going to get sick on bad beef. I told her that last summer I ate there several times a week and always had great food. She said they still had the same chef as last summer but, she agreed there was a kitchen problem and quickly told me that she would only charge us for one French Dip. This was to laughable to even argue with her as to why we should pay for one horrible sandwich but not the other. Most restaurants would not charge for any bad meals. Last summer Thirsty's deserved more than five stars. A year later they deserve zero stars based on horrible food and pathetic service from the bartender. There are to many great bar/restaurants in the area to ever consider returning to Thirsty's. read more

My husband and i became fans of Thirsty's about a year ago. I've passed it on the road for years, paying no mind to it and thinking of it as a 'hole in the wall' bar. Well one night we had some time to kill before the movies and stopped in for a drink. We've been fans ever since! The staff is always welcoming and warm to regulars and first timers alike. It's got a little nook of a room to play pool and about 4-5 T.V's at there moderatly sized bar. The food is always good and thier prices are great. You can get a Thirsty's Rewards card too and earn points each time you go. My husband and i have received discounts for our Brithday's and our Anniversary.
