Thomas the Plumber got the job done during the agreed upon time. He unclogged a suborn toilet in our girls bathroom and repaired a sink with broken pipes. He gave me an idea of what it would cost when I spoke with him on the phone. When he had a difficult time unclogging the toilet he let me know it would cost more if he had to take off the toilet. All of the work cost me less than he originally quoted me because "he charged me for his time" and he was able to finish the job fairly quickly. I will recommend George (Thomas) to everyone I know - even the ones who are not having plumbing issues. DO NOT call one of the big guys if you live in Baltimore. George has come out to my house on 2 separate occasions to deal with nasty situations and was a complete pleasure to work with. Both times he told me the problem straight up without any complicated plumber mumbo jumbo, and explains exactly what he is doing. I also was extremely satisfied with the price he charged considering the scope of problems he fixed First (last year), he helped unclog a nasty sewage clog that a certified drain cleaner was unable to fix. Thats right, I paid a professional drain cleaner to unclog my sewer line, and they failed. Then, just this weekend (January 6-7 2018 aka the Bomb Cyclone cold freeze) my pipes froze so I called George Again. Due to the complaints about my mother, after concern about my daughter's cat getting out the door that was left open on our busy road, I wish I could give ZERO stars!! I'm very happy he "blocked her so she can't change her mind"...like I would ever give this man any more money!! Talk about control issues! Prices are reasonable, and he comes out promptly. However, his attitude is NOT professional. I've used him 3 times now, and when I call he seems frustrated to have to answer his phone. (to be fair, it was 6:30pm the last call when I discovered a leak, but I fully expected to get voicemail at that time) He fixed the initial leak, then discovered a 2nd. At that time, he threw his pen down and said "I don't have time for this!!" Well, I didn't have time for my kitchen sink pipes to be leaking and an extra bill either!!! I have now used Thomas the Plumber several times and have always found him to be competent, professional responsive, honest, and efficient. Here's just an example of what I mean. A couple months ago, the main pipe entering my house was leaking, just before the water turnoff valve. We called several companies. One of these companies told me that, because it was galvanized piping, we would have to replace our whole water main, which could cost thousands!!! So, we called Thomas the Plumber (who should've been our first call). He came out first thing in the morning and fixed the leak in less than half an hour. And no, we did not have to replace our water main (though if we ever do, you know who we will be calling). Or there's the time when I had a leaky pipe in the basement (slow drip). George was already at the house to replace a toilet. I showed him the leak in the basement, and he told me exactly what piece I could buy at Home Depot to stop the leak. The piece cost less than $1. He could've fixed it himself and charged me a ton of money, but because he was honest, he was not trying to waste either my money or my time. He even called a few days later to check and make sure that the solution worked (it did) and see if everything was going well at the house. That type of service is rare these days. I cannot recommend him highly enough. George is an AWESOME plumber, and I am a customer for LIFE!! Customer Tip: George is very good at scheduling appointments, and, because he is so wonderful, he is in demand and his schedule is pretty packed. Unlike the cable company, who will schedule service during some 4-hour window and then not show up, if George says he will be there at 11am, that is exactly when he will show up. I called George, aka Thomas, to go to my rental property and assess a leak in the upstairs bathroom that was leaking and staining the living room ceiling. I had a previous plumber (Banford) go out to assess the situation and while he was onsite he quoted me around $900 and then for weeks, when I kept asking for a written estimate, he sent me a quote for over $2k! I chose to call Thomas, who went out the next morning, even though he was leaving for vacation the same day, and called me with an estimate of $195!!! I don't usually write reviews but when I do write them you're usually five stars. However, I had to share my experience with this company. From the moment I spoke to the contractor over the phone he was impatient. I told him that the property was a rental property and that I would give him the lockbox number to get in the property for repair. Less than an hour before the scheduled repair he tells me that he only excepts checks and cash and that had to be at the property for him to start anything. So I had to call off work. Then I'm rushing in the rain to meet him time. I had some issues opening the lock box but once it was open he was already in his truck driving away and I'm literally trying to chase him in the rain to let him know the door is open. First. I'm very critical about many of the service providers around Baltimore. I've had my share of dishonest trade service techs attempting to overcharge or flat out lie to me. George aka Thomas the Plumber is a welcome dose of honesty, integrity, and knowledge. I called and got him on the phone the second ring. Told him I had a slow shower/toilet drain and asked his availability. He asked me if it was an emergency and when I said no, scheduled it for two days later which fit my schedule. He quoted me a flat-rate price that was more than reasonable to snake the drain. He arrived on-time, calling me before he arrived. We talked about the issue and I asked him to scope the main sewer line. I'm fairly handy and call in help when it is beyond my basic handyman level. He advised me it was likely not the main sewer line if I wanted to save the scope charge. I asked him if he wouldn't mind doing it to put my mind at ease and he agreed quoting me a very reasonable price. He even let me look over his shoulder as he did it (as he thought, it was fully clear). He cleaned up during and after the job and ended the visit giving me a 6 month warranty. I really had a great experience with Thomas the Plumber. I had originally found this company on Yelp as I was looking for a plumber to come out to fix two slow flushing toilets in my house. So, I gave this company a call and Mr. George Thomas (Thomas the Plumber) was the plumber that helped me out from start to finish. I told him about the problems I was having and he recommended that I replace the toilets instead of having him coming out to fix the slow flushing toilets. It's not that he couldn't fix the slow flush, he actually recommended that to help me avoid additional calls for the something that would be bound to occur again. I'm sure a lot of companies wouldn't have straight up told me that and would have taken my money over and over again for the same issue. I really appreciated his honestly as those two toilets actually were old and needed to be replaced with more efficient toilets. So, I called him back a day later and we set up an appointment for the following weekend. The following weekend, George showed up to my home on time and quickly began replacing my old toilets with the new ones I had purchased. George was done within 45 mins and not only did he do a superb job with the installation, he didn't leave a mess in either bathroom and disposed of both of my old toilets. Mr. Thomas is extremely fair, knowledgeable, and professional. I was thoroughly impressed with how prompt he was to my house (actually early!), how quickly he worked, and how neatly his new lines were placed. The major reason I called him was because I needed water lines routed to a new electric water heater from an old gas tank water heater that was on its last leg. The removal of the old gas tank wasn't in the original scope of work but he added the service for another fair quote. Now the gas line to the old water heater is safely stubbed and everything was removed from my mechanical room, so I don't have to worry about it at all! Since he was there, I also had him replace an old kitchen faucet with an updated one, which he did in like 10 minutes. He gave me a thorough overview of his work after he was done, waited until we tested the hot water on all three floors of the house, and gave me a receipt with a summary of the work performed. He was no-nonsense with no-nonsense prices that was extremely competitive with the quality of work he performed. It was a great, easy experience and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a plumber. From start to end, he took less than 2 hours, which was amazing because I was expecting it to take all morning. I had a pipe burst in my home recently. Apparently it was happening all over Baltimore b/c even emergency plumbers were booked for hours. I called Thomas about 9AM and was told someone could be there between 10-12 and that I'd get a call before they arrived. I got a call at 9:40 saying he'd be there in 20 minutes. He came right on time and fixed the pipe. The price was cheaper than the estimate I received from other plumbers who had me on their wait list. Thomas accepted checks or credit card.
