We love to try variety of restaurants. Today we decided to go to Thompson 105 for their happy hour. What a great variety of food and drinks to choose from and the happy hour sitting is not restricted to bar area as in most other restaurants... The hostess greeted us right away, we were seated on the patio - gorgeous view. Our server was wonderful - attentive, courteous, provided suggestions without upselling. We ordered italicus spritz & margarita - light and pleasant summery drinks. For a meal, we shared deviled eggs, sonoran chicken lettuce wraps, sliders with fries and Thompson bolognese. Everything came out pretty fast - it was fresh and delicious, generous portions too. Of course we had to try dessert - we had spiced carrot cake with espresso. Cake was very good and espresso was great & strong! We'll definitely go back to try other items on the menu. read more

Alert!!! Thompson 105 charges the tip in the tax and the food not just the food and drinks. Beware of the added cost. It is not right. BTW the food and service were excellent, but we don't need to be paying more than we already are. Hand calculated the tip before paying. read more

Omg everything we ate was amazing Got the 1/2 rotisserie chicken and the prime rib sandwich The chicken had a wonderful Smokey flavor , you could smell it as you came through the door . Mesquite pecan wood scent through the air . The prime rib sandwich was tender flavorful meat , the horseradish sauce was spot on and the bread was a crispy baguette yet tender to chew . I had the house old fashion which was a great balance of sweet and smokey . We substituted the fries for green chili Mac and cheese and the portion was very generous. We had to stop ourselves from over eating because it all just tasted so yummy . We did not make it to dessert but the key lime and cookie skillet looks amazing . We are in the East Valley , but will make this a rotation when we are up in Scottsdale read more

I made a reservation at this long-ago bookmarked restaurant to celebrate our twins 21st birthdays. I am so pleased they are finally old enough we can dine at restaurants I want to try (instead of only those serving kid food). Our Open Table reservation was for inside seating, but the restaurant was packed and we were seated on the misted patio at a high top for four. A spinning device was placed on our table lamp to deter flying pests. It was warm on the patio but fully shaded, with an occasional drifting cool breeze from the open doors of the dining room. The view of the McDowell Mountains is gorgeous from the patio. Our server was a quiet young man who was training another new server. Drink orders were placed, waters delivered all around. Appetizers ordered and meal orders placed at the same time were timed appropriately for our entree to arrive after a pause. We ordered from the happy hour menu a Dos XX draft lager and a house red sangria to go with the spinach artichoke dip and tortilla chips. The sangria was lovely, a tart red on top then sweeter, with brandy perhaps ,when mixed from the bottom. Several slices of citrus filled the glass. Beer was cold and a full pint. For $16 the spinach artichoke dip is a pricey appetizer at happy hour. It comes in a little cast iron skillet with oil all around the edge of the bubbling cheesy dip. Is truly thought they had overheated it, but the center was still creamy, the cheese unbroken. The tortilla chips were so light and crispy I had to inquire with the server if they were truly all corn or a blend. All corn! This was the most flavorful and delicious version of this dip I have experienced in any restaurant, and I do order it frequently. My only complaint was the spinach is too stringy and should be lightly chopped before adding to the dip. For my entree, I ordered the happy hour chicken lettuce wraps $10. They were pre-assembled portions of spicy dark chicken with corn and hot sauce. The lettuce cups were small but held up to the fillings. The chicken was one dimentional in flavor, just hot sauce and nothing else. I won't order this again, what a shame and a missed opportunity for a spectacular dish. One son had the 105 burger , a house double smash burger with waffle fries. He enjoyed the burger a lot, planning to save half then eating it all anyway. The garlic aoli was his favorite thing. He pronounced the waffle fries too crunchy. Almost like kettle chips, they lacked the tender insides he prefers in a waffle cut potato. Husband agreed. He had the same fries with his absolutely amazing French dip sandwich with prime rib. Especially awesome was the horseradish sauce and the dip which clearly had meat broth not just bouillon. Nice job! I got to eat about a quarter of it when he couldn't finish and yummers! I should add, our server made husband's beer $3 because they have a $19 burger and beer special (and son had a burger with no beer). This was very kind and honest! Other son ordered the short rib rustica pasta. This was a very filling dish. He enjoyed the meat sauce, it was very rich and tender. The house made rigatoni was broken, flattened and cooked too soft for his liking. Nonetheless it was all gone in a flash. When I suggested dessert, neither boy was really interested but I insisted because of the celebratory nature of our meal together. The wait staff brought our two desserts with four spoons and two candles in honor of the boys birthdays. The neighboring tables joined us in singing to our kids when the servers left. It was sweet. And so we're the desserts! A brownie sundae with dulce de leche ice cream vanished quickly. The boys were amused by the potato chip garnish. The seasonal ricotta cheesecake was also a dulce de leche flavor and it was fabulous. Dense, rich and smooth, I ate more than my share of this decadent wedge of heaven. Accompanying strawberries and blueberries were appreciated as a nod to healthier choices. The birthday desserts were both comped, very generous and thank you to the manager! When the bill arrived, we tried to pay using the QR code but the receipt is only for joining their e club. Server brought a kiosk and we paid on the spot. All very efficient. read more

I picked up two Turkey Burgers from Thompson 105 three days ago. They were terrible, small, thin and tasteless. I doubt that they were even a quarter of a pound. I've picked up food from there in the past and it was always good. read more

Had a great experience at Thompson 105, per usual. The staff has always been friendly every time we've visited, and the vibe and atmosphere here are fantastic. The restaurant an awesome view of McDowell Mountain, which makes it a really enjoyable place to sit down and have a meal with friends or family. The one downside on our most recent visit was that service was a bit slow. We had a long wait at times when we needed things like water refills, which was a little frustrating. That said, the food definitely delivered. I had the 1/2 rotisserie chicken and it was wonderful, as is the case almost every time I eat here. Planned last min with an easy 15 minute open table reservation and got seated & our server was Mia. She is super friendly, very communicative and we even had Idaho in common. Great gal & you should be lucky to be seated in her area! OK let's get to the food. Y'all know I love me some deviled eggs and these are new to the menu. I've never had them like this, the pork belly is so good and just fill your mouth deliciousness! Wow! Presentation is gorgeous!!! Definitely keep them on the menu. Nice view; nice decor; super-solid food; and great service are all in attendance here. The wood fire smokiness plays a leading role in the flavor profile and I love it. We came here for the first time last week and I've been thinking about the French dip ever since. For starters, we went with meatballs, focaccia bread and a tuna poke bite dish (I can't remember the exact name). The tuna bites were delish. A bit bummed that I forgot to order the deviled eggs off the happy hour menu - will need to check if it's on their regular menu. Hubby got the French dip. I tried a bite. So good... we went to our favorite French dip spot a week later and we both agreed we liked the one from Thompson 105 more. The grouper had a wonderful coconut sauce paired with mango and cherry tomatoes. It also came with some broccolini that was cooked well - not mushy but still had some crisp. Took some carrot cake home to enjoy (after the kids went to bed). The cream cheese frosting was so good! The added pecans were a great touch. Another wonderful evening out. Deviled eggs is a weakness of mine, as is pork belly, so of course we had to start with the pork belly deviled eggs (plus they're on happy hour which is another plus). For my main course, I switched it up from my usual rigatoni or turkey burger and tried the short rib rustica. Absolutely delicious, it just might be my new favorite. Like many of their dishes, it comes in a smaller and a larger portion. I was ravenous so I went with the large and I struggled to finish it. Glad we did because we got Chloe as our server, who I'd actually read about in previous rave reviews. She was all that! I ordered the Paper Plate cocktail and liked so much I asked for the recipe. M had a cocktail we had seen on an older menu called the White Ferrari and they made it for him. We ordered the fried artichoke hearts appetizer and thought it was unique and delicious. I had the prime rib and M had the cast iron filet. Both absolutely delicious and excellent value. We finished with the best key lime pie I've ever had. My family was celebrating two college graduates and luckily we code Thompson 105. Immediately from the sweet hostess our experience was magical. We all ordered different dishes . Rigatoni Short Rib Rustica, Prime Rib French Dip, Rigatoni Alla Vodka, and Rotisserie Prime Rib. Each dish was wonderful in its own way . Our server was 100 plus so I definitely want to shout out to Gianna E. She was amazing in every sense of the word. I drove over 50 miles to dine at Thompson 105 and I will do it again. When I made the reservation there was no outside table available so I sent an email 2 days before requesting one so that we could celebrate with Mountain View's. We came to Thompson 105 on a Sunday for brunch and were really looking forward to it--the outdoor patio is beautiful, and our server was awesome: friendly, helpful, and really on top of everything. Unfortunately, the food just didn't live up to the vibe. I ordered the Grateful Veg omelet, and it was really plain--definitely missing some flavor or seasoning. My husband had the quiche special, which looked nice but tasted just okay. Our kids didn't fare much better: the crispy chicken sammich my son got was dry and kind of forgettable (how do you mess up a fried chicken sandwich?), one daughter had the sliders from the kids' menu that came plain with no cheese and she barely touched them, and the chicken tenders my other daughter ordered were just meh. The drinks were the highlight! My Bloody Mary was bold and loaded (loved the garnish), and the seasonal watermelon mimosa was super refreshing. My husband enjoyed the amber beer, which had a nice, full flavor. We'd come back for the drinks and patio, but next time we'll eat somewhere else first. read more

Smash burger slider-cold and very dry. Prime rib slider-fatty scraps from prime rib dinner. Cobb salad-soggy and over dressed. Bruschetta-tiny pieces of cheese with too much balsamic glaze. Chicken lettuce wraps-inedible. We told our server that the lettuce wraps were not good and she asked why, when we told her she apologized but never sent over a manager and we were still charged for them . (They were not eaten) Sorry to give such a poor review. We eat out often and I don't think I have ever had food this bad, maybe the chef had a bad night but I will never go back. read more

Each time we have been here the food has been tasty. They have nice portion sizes. Each of the servers we have had have been friendly and efficient. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. There are heaters outside for the chilly times that happen periodically. The view of the mountains is spectacular, especially around sunset. Make sure you try the Rotisserie Chicken on one of your visits. The seasoning and smokiness combine for a fantastic treat for your palate. We just celebrated a special birthday, with a party of 10, at our new favorite spot in North Scottsdale - Thompson 105. Tanner, a manager, was very accommodating and easy to work with on the planning. The personalized menu and wine selection turned out to be perfect for our event. On the 'big night,' exceptional table service was provided by the delightful and very proficient Skaidra. The appetizers, salads and entrees were all delicious and each course was served with perfect timing. No long wait times in between, no feeling of being rushed through, either. Every one of our guests, especially those who had never been there before, commented on how much they enjoyed the food and the great ambience and said they'd definitely come back again on their own. We had been to the Thompson 105 a few weeks earlier for a date night, on the recommendation of a friend. We decided, that same night, based on the warm, comfortable vibe and great food and service we enjoyed, that we wanted our birthday celebration there. It was an excellent decision on our part, and we're actually going back again next week with some friends from out of town. Can't wait to try more of their great menu offerings. read more

Our first experience with Thompson 105 was on January 1, 2026. Our reservation was for 3:00 p.m. with a party of sixteen diners. Everyone enjoyed their food and our server was wonderful! The next visit was in January on Tuesday, for a party of four at 3:00 p.m. At that time, I spoke with the hostess and made a reservation for Tuesday, February 10th at 3:00 p.m. Our group of diners visits a different restaurant each month. I expected that group would number between 14 and 20 ladies. I gave the hostess my name and phone number. On Saturday, February 7th I called to confirm the reservation with the hostess. She said that I needed to speak with Tanner the Manager. Tanner began by imposing demands: each guest needed to spend $30.00 per person, order from a select menu, and a time limit for dining would be imposed. I could not agree to his terms. We were dining at the restaurant when it opened at 3:00 p.m. on a Tuesday, during happy hour. Past experience dictated that this was not a prime time for diners. Tanner said that the group would fill up the tables and interfere with his regular customers and walk-ins. Taken back by his comments, I asked if he was the manager or an owner. He replied that he was the manager and part owner. I reminded Tanner that our group consisted of Arizona residents. Guests that would be in town during the summer. He asked if I was threatening him. I was stating a fact. I wished him continued success with his burgeoning business and closed the call. I then called twenty ladies to cancel dining at Thompson 105. read more

1st timers here. Nice view of the mountainside & it was nice to dine al' fresco. Hostess & bar staff were great and attentive. They had a guitarist playing inside and almost had a full house for a Saturday night. Our Server was great and accomodating when I asked to switch out my cup of coffee for espresso instead & comped my cocktail that came after dinner. Onto the food. It was restaurant week and 2 got the pre-fixe menu and the other 4 of us ordered from the regular menu. We ordered 2 homemade pasta dishes and the other 2 ordered the prime rib entree's. I tasted the citrus & roasted beet salad and it was quite tasty & refreshing. Fritto misto was good, no complaints. I ordered the chicken parmigiana, chicken was dry and marinara sauce was salty. The boys had the prime rib and loved it, but the aides (potatoes & carrots) were almost burnt and over done. Clearly a local spot with regulars.
