    Ricotta cheesecake (minus the tip!)

I made a reservation at this long-ago bookmarked restaurant to celebrate our twins 21st birthdays. I am so pleased they are finally old enough we can dine at restaurants I want to try (instead of only those serving kid food). Our Open Table reservation was for inside seating, but the restaurant was packed and we were seated on the misted patio at a high top for four. A spinning device was placed on our table lamp to deter flying pests. It was warm on the patio but fully shaded, with an occasional drifting cool breeze from the open doors of the dining room. The view of the McDowell Mountains is gorgeous from the patio. Our server was a quiet young man who was training another new server. Drink orders were placed, waters delivered all around. Appetizers ordered and meal orders placed at the same time were timed appropriately for our entree to arrive after a pause. We ordered from the happy hour menu a Dos XX draft lager and a house red sangria to go with the spinach artichoke dip and tortilla chips. The sangria was lovely, a tart red on top then sweeter, with brandy perhaps ,when mixed from the bottom. Several slices of citrus filled the glass. Beer was cold and a full pint. For $16 the spinach artichoke dip is a pricey appetizer at happy hour. It comes in a little cast iron skillet with oil all around the edge of the bubbling cheesy dip. Is truly thought they had overheated it, but the center was still creamy, the cheese unbroken. The tortilla chips were so light and crispy I had to inquire with the server if they were truly all corn or a blend. All corn! This was the most flavorful and delicious version of this dip I have experienced in any restaurant, and I do order it frequently. My only complaint was the spinach is too stringy and should be lightly chopped before adding to the dip. For my entree, I ordered the happy hour chicken lettuce wraps $10. They were pre-assembled portions of spicy dark chicken with corn and hot sauce. The lettuce cups were small but held up to the fillings. The chicken was one dimentional in flavor, just hot sauce and nothing else. I won't order this again, what a shame and a missed opportunity for a spectacular dish. One son had the 105 burger , a house double smash burger with waffle fries. He enjoyed the burger a lot, planning to save half then eating it all anyway. The garlic aoli was his favorite thing. He pronounced the waffle fries too crunchy. Almost like kettle chips, they lacked the tender insides he prefers in a waffle cut potato. Husband agreed. He had the same fries with his absolutely amazing French dip sandwich with prime rib. Especially awesome was the horseradish sauce and the dip which clearly had meat broth not just bouillon. Nice job! I got to eat about a quarter of it when he couldn't finish and yummers! I should add, our server made husband's beer $3 because they have a $19 burger and beer special (and son had a burger with no beer). This was very kind and honest! Other son ordered the short rib rustica pasta. This was a very filling dish. He enjoyed the meat sauce, it was very rich and tender. The house made rigatoni was broken, flattened and cooked too soft for his liking. Nonetheless it was all gone in a flash. When I suggested dessert, neither boy was really interested but I insisted because of the celebratory nature of our meal together. The wait staff brought our two desserts with four spoons and two candles in honor of the boys birthdays. The neighboring tables joined us in singing to our kids when the servers left. It was sweet. And so we're the desserts! A brownie sundae with dulce de leche ice cream vanished quickly. The boys were amused by the potato chip garnish. The seasonal ricotta cheesecake was also a dulce de leche flavor and it was fabulous. Dense, rich and smooth, I ate more than my share of this decadent wedge of heaven. Accompanying strawberries and blueberries were appreciated as a nod to healthier choices. The birthday desserts were both comped, very generous and thank you to the manager! When the bill arrived, we tried to pay using the QR code but the receipt is only for joining their e club. Server brought a kiosk and we paid on the spot. All very efficient.

Food wise it was up and down. The chicken piccata I got was overly salty and lemony. The restaurant took it off the bill and offered to make it right and gave us a dessert. They were very nice about it. Short rib pasta was excellent, prime rib medium rare was excellent, and the burger was also very good. My son's chicken tenders were good. They did come out scorching hot and my husband picked one up to cut it into smaller pieces and his thumb blistered later that evening. I'm so glad my son didn't take a bite and burn his tongue. Overall it is a very nice place and we might try it again sometime.

Had a great experience at Thompson 105, per usual. The staff has always been friendly every time we've visited, and the vibe and atmosphere here are fantastic. The restaurant an awesome view of McDowell Mountain, which makes it a really enjoyable place to sit down and have a meal with friends or family. The one downside on our most recent visit was that service was a bit slow. We had a long wait at times when we needed things like water refills, which was a little frustrating. That said, the food definitely delivered. I had the 1/2 rotisserie chicken and it was wonderful, as is the case almost every time I eat here. The roasted garlic mashed potatoes are also great, and the portions are always sizable! Definitely worth stopping into if you're in North Scottsdale

The patio is still okay this time of year due to the misters. Always a friendly vibe. Love the energy. Food and service is always solid.

Holy moly if you read my reviews, you know this is one of my favorite happy hour local spots & my second post with a new HH menu. Planned last min with an easy 15 minute open table reservation and got seated & our server was Mia. She is super friendly, very communicative and we even had Idaho in common. Great gal & you should be lucky to be seated in her area! OK let's get to the food. Y'all know I love me some deviled eggs and these are new to the menu. I've never had them like this, the pork belly is so good and just fill your mouth deliciousness! Wow! Presentation is gorgeous!!! Definitely keep them on the menu. Mia said they were super popular when I asked about them since I hadn't seen this new Happy Hour menu! The vibe, as always, was hoppin and a lot of locals. The weather was perfect, gorgeous with a light jacket but I was sleeveless tonight so we stayed inside. If you haven't check them out- you'll be happy!

We came here for the first time last week and I've been thinking about the French dip ever since. For starters, we went with meatballs, focaccia bread and a tuna poke bite dish (I can't remember the exact name). The tuna bites were delish. A bit bummed that I forgot to order the deviled eggs off the happy hour menu - will need to check if it's on their regular menu. Hubby got the French dip. I tried a bite. So good... we went to our favorite French dip spot a week later and we both agreed we liked the one from Thompson 105 more. The grouper had a wonderful coconut sauce paired with mango and cherry tomatoes. It also came with some broccolini that was cooked well - not mushy but still had some crisp. Took some carrot cake home to enjoy (after the kids went to bed). The cream cheese frosting was so good! The added pecans were a great touch. Looking forward to going back to try more items on the menu!

We are back in town visiting family and decided to give Thompson 105 another try--and we are so happy we did! We brought our brother along for his first time, and the entire experience was wonderful. As I remember, the food was absolutely excellent, but I want to give a special shout-out to our server, Gracie. I sincerely hope your potential is recognized. Thank you for making our evening so memorable! Follow me on Instagram - #thecannyadventurist for a deeper dive into my reviews.

Potentially a 4.5 star rating but that's not an option here. This is the kind of place where im thinking of reasons why it's not a 5-star establishment. Nice view; nice decor; super-solid food; and great service are all in attendance here. The wood fire smokiness plays a leading role in the flavor profile and I love it. Cool outdoor part, with pretty views. Great spot that's highly recommended.

Absolutely loved Thompson 105! I had the Caesar salad, and it was perfect. Generous portion. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. Bonus: the views of the mountains are stunning! Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to.

Another wonderful evening out. Deviled eggs is a weakness of mine, as is pork belly, so of course we had to start with the pork belly deviled eggs (plus they're on happy hour which is another plus). For my main course, I switched it up from my usual rigatoni or turkey burger and tried the short rib rustica. Absolutely delicious, it just might be my new favorite. Like many of their dishes, it comes in a smaller and a larger portion. I was ravenous so I went with the large and I struggled to finish it. Stephanie, our waitress, was super friendly and helpful and was a good addition to an all around great evening out in the great winter weather

Gianna was our server, and she was attentive, honest in answering our questions, and took great care of us. The pasta was flavorful, the steak was excellent, and the sandwich was perfect. We dined outside and enjoyed a beautiful view. If I lived here, I'd visit often. Highly recommend whether you're a local or just passing through Scottsdale, Arizona.

Everything, EVERYTHING was perfect. We chose outdoor dining because indoors was busy and noisy (high energy, happy kind of noisy). Glad we did because we got Chloe as our server, who I'd actually read about in previous rave reviews. She was all that! I ordered the Paper Plate cocktail and liked so much I asked for the recipe. M had a cocktail we had seen on an older menu called the White Ferrari and they made it for him. We ordered the fried artichoke hearts appetizer and thought it was unique and delicious. I had the prime rib and M had the cast iron filet. Both absolutely delicious and excellent value. We finished with the best key lime pie I've ever had. If I were local this would be my favorite place hands down. We also met Chris the bar manager who was also great and helpful. Did I mention Chloe? Yeah. Loved everything about our evening out!

Everything tasted fresh, homemade, and packed with flavor in a way that just sticks with you. You can tell there's real passion behind every dish, and it shows. The mussels in red arrabbiata sauce were unreal -- perfectly cooked with just the right amount of heat, rich, bold, tomato yumminess, and completely addictive. And the clams... wow. Soft, tender, and swimming in this creamy white wine, garlic, and cream sauce that was honestly one of the best I've ever had. This is the kind of spot that reminds you how good Italian food can actually be. I'll be thinking about this meal every day and can't wait to come back. I hopped on the trusty Yelp app and came across La Cucina Bistro & Wine Bar. It was a short drive away and had solid reviews so the decision was made. Located in a shopping center along with several other businesses including Panda Express, parking wasn't an issue. Ambiance (4/5): Think a homey, neighborhood Italian restaurant. It's relatively small, I would venture to guess the restaurant seats 20-30 people or so. It reminded me of restaurants in Europe, which tend to be more intimate. It seems like the type of place that has a lot of regulars, and I can see why. Service (4.5/5): Attentive and efficient service throughout. We were greeted and seated promptly, our waitress offered recommendations when I asked her, and she stopped by periodically to check on us. The icing on the cake? Two complimentary limoncello shots. It made me feel like I was in Italy where they do just this often. Brought back good memories! Drinks (3.5/5): We went with a bottle of white wine. Their wine list isn't terribly extensive, I would have liked more of an Italian wine selection, but it did the job. A bit pricier than I expected, but we enjoyed our wine. Outside of that, they have a full bar and soft drinks. Food (4/5): They start you off with some complimentary bread (served warm) with olive oil and balsamic. Always a nice touch. And not only that. Plus some pickled veggies which we were told were spicy. I can't handle the heat, so I stayed away. But I definitely appreciated the freebies. For our entrees, we split the rigatoni bolognese and the veal piccata. The bolognese, a classic Italian dish, was recommended by our waitress. And she was right! The meat sauce was flavorful and the pasta was cooked al dente. I wish the portion size was a little larger, but outside of that, no complaints. Same take on the veal piccata. I don't have veal often, but when I do, it's at an Italian restaurant. And it's a treat. Piccata is one of my favorite Italian dishes, I can't get enough of the lemon sauce and the capers. The veal was served with linguine. Delicious. I just could have used a little larger of a portion size here, too. My only real complaint? The main dishes came out super quick. I love efficiency, but in this case, given it's a sit-down restaurant, it made me question the freshness of the food. With that being said, I really enjoyed my meal. A little overpriced for the portion sizes and the wine, but overall, a solid meal. Definitely somewhere I would return. Many of the dishes our waitress recommended were clam-centric. I'm not a clams guy, but if you're down with these crustaceans, they may be worth a try. Ciao!

I've never had a pizza that was too dry before! It was very underwhelming.

Fads like chili on everything only serve one purpose, to demolish traditional recipes to align with the now predominant "heat" in everything! We came to celebrate a birthday and have a nice dinner: mission accomplished! Started the evening with cocktails and S.pellegrino water as always. The "Knucklehead" cocktail is bourbon based with bitters and pear liqueur; I had to try the "I'll Guav Another" and Yes, I had another, it's very more-ish :) The service was excellent and our server was on point with descriptions of dishes and the continued service. The ambiance was very similar to restaurants back in Milano, noisy because people were chatting and having a good time. Thankfully there were no sports TV's close by making for a very pleasant evening out. I had the pasta alle vongole (clams) that was very tasty; I would have liked a bit less oil and fresh parsley on top, but I honestly ate the whole thing and even mopped up the lemon and white wine sauce with the crusty bread they served. We call it "fare la scarpetta" in Italian. The other diners had a chicken dish that looked good too but I didn't taste them, was too engulfed in my pasta... We had a really good meal, the company was great, and we left well sated. Will be back when on their side of town !

Absolutely love this spot! Tucked away in the backyard of the tap house, this food truck is hands-down one of my favorite places to grab a bite. As regulars we are super stoked to have a consistent tasty food truck to enjoy! The food is consistently delicious--fresh, flavorful, and made with real care and LOVE! Every time I come here, I try something new and it never disappoints. Tonight was steak Friday! What a treat. The meat was melt in your mouth tasty and full of flavor. Happy Fri-yay!! The frites on the side were crispy, hot and flavorful! As a regular, I can honestly say the quality and service are always top-notch. The vibe of enjoying amazing food outdoors with a great craft beer in hand just can't be beat. It's the perfect combo of chill atmosphere and seriously good eats. If you haven't checked it out yet, you're missing out. This place is a gem in our Arizona desert! :)

The folks running the joint are fun, chatty, professional and quick. You gotta try this place!

The process is counter service - go up to the counter, order your meal with the friendly and helpful staff, and they will tell you where to sit. I ordered the Abbufino, which was absolutely delicious--flavorful, satisfying, had a great spicy kick, and a great choice for lunch. We also shared the Italian fries, which were a huge hit at the table, and a slice of the almond cake for dessert. The almond cake was the perfect way to finish the meal--rich, moist, and not overly sweet. It's the kind of place that feels both casual and special, with great food and a fun atmosphere. The setting is uber Italian with a small Italian market feel and an array of different seating from long community tables to living room style loungers. There are nooks to hide in and enjoy great conversations. The Italian kitchen buzz is relaxing and full of energy. The place oozes an Nonna's kitchen. This is family, from the patriarch milling around with a heavy Italian accent to the proud family heritage behind the counter taking orders and issuing handshakes to friends. A very authentic surrounding that makes you smile. I ordered the porketta sandwich with small salad, side of giardiniera, and a side of homemade bread with olive oil. The roll was ethereal with a delicious taste, not overly crispy, savory and nicely shaved porketta meat. The added giardiniera was a slap in the face to your taste buds, perfect! The green leaf salad was lightly seasoned, not overly dressed and simple, but uncious. The only issue was the homemade slices of Italian bread and olive oil. I could not stop dunking and eating. After two orders, I had to stop. What a treat for lunch. The service is spot on, food was delicious and environment was relaxing and high energy. This is a hidden gem and tucked away in a back lot with a stand alone building. Sub sandwiches are a dime a dozen in the Scottsdale corridor but Andreoli's Italian Grocery is food with style, class and great ambiance for lunch or dinner. Treat yourself to more than just lunch. Andreoli's has great food and a cool vibe. Ciao
