They installed several windows but failed to simply caulk properly around two windows. Seems like a quick fix, right? Not with these folks! Their schedulers failed to realize they were setting an appointment on a holiday, once properly scheduled they showed up hours early, STILL didn't fix the problem causing further delays in rectifying the problem (simple caulk job). Customer service reps failed to return calls, return emails, failed to follow through. 3 freaking months later and I'm still waiting for them to finish the crap job they started. AVOID THESE PEOPLE! I had ALL the windows replaced in my house, and it as the biggest headache ever. They had problems scheduling, workers ruined things in my house, couple windows were manufactured the incorrect size (not just once but twice), one window leaked and the fix took three service visits and about four months to correct (I still have to patch the wall), and after all this I do not really notice a difference in my house. I knew I would have to get new windows because I had some that were defective but if I had to do it over, I am not sure I would get them all done. The process took a lot of patience and many days were missed from work. I had 2 windows that had to be replaced. I wanted quotes for those two windows and then a more detailed one for the main level of my house, as that is in the plans for the future. Depending on price, i might have had more than the 2 done. The sales man kept asking if I wanted the whole main level done even though I told him 2. Also told him I get three quotes and choose the best combination and wanted their quote in writing. Three weeks later NO written quote for work. 2 years a go we decided to replace our windows with the more energy efficient ones. The plan: call several companies, get a quote, buy from the one we feel more comfortable with and has lower rates. I called Thompson Creek to get a quote, just a quote, and it was BY FAARR the biggest mistake of MY LIFE!!! I made an afternoon appointment, and they did not show up... called them, and their office was closed! I thought it was gonna be over.... but, 48 hours later, I started receiving repeated phone calls at home, work, and cell trying to reschedule an appointment that I canceled!?!? So, finally I scheduled another appointment... The second time, someone showed up, but it was not about just giving us a quote! It was about him sitting down for 2+ hours 100000 times worse than a used car sales man trying to have us sign a contract AND a release form for them to contact ALL of our neighbors!!! Seriously, this guy actually refused to leave insisting that: it is just a signature that I informed you about the best deal! there is no obligation!!!! (Yeah right!!!) I actually had to threaten him that if he doesn't leave I have to call the cops on him!! I know that when it comes to home improvement, you have to be extra careful about who you're dealing with, but the way these guys did business was truly unheard of! read more

Thompson Creek just completed the replacement of 16 windows on our first floor plus our main entry door. All windows were double-hung. The communication after the sale and pre-install is quite good. The gentleman who came post-sale to do the precise measurements was very professional and discovered the salesman had counted one window too many and had specified the incorrect top transoms for our five family room windows. This person made the adjustments to our order and our end cost. We had to change our install date due to a family emergency and Thompson Creek was very easy to work with for that. The installation was a two-day job and the crew was top-notch. Very professional. The crew lead, Todd, has been with Thomspon Creek for eight years and is a pro! A company rep visited each day and answered any questions we had. I would have given them a five except for one thing. Our salesman made no mention of the fact that we might not be able to reinstall our window coverings post-installation. Thompson Creek's double-hung widow product is much heftier and thicker than the standard builder-grade windows--the main reason the windows are so energy efficient and carry such a good warranty. However, because of their thickness, the windows intrude much further into the existing window well that the old windows. We lost a full two inches, which means we cannot reinstall our very expensive custom-made shades in our family room. We are still considering options, but there is simply no wood available in the header due to how far the window frame intrudes--there is only drywall. Had we been made aware of this possibility at the sales meeting, we may have made a different decision, and I'm sure that's probably why Thompson Creeks sales staff don't mention this possibility. I will say this is only a problem if your exterior wall is vinyl siding or some other similar material. If you have brick or rock on the exterior all will be fine since the window well is deeper. The front of our house is brick, so I can easily remount the shades in our home office--all other rooms are another story. read more

My new Thompson Creek windows were installed 4/23/2013. This was the first window replacement since the house was built in 1974. While not as old as Kristin M.'s '45 crib, I could feel the breeze around the edges of my old "windows", too. Not anymore! The windows are fantastic. I was very comfy and cozy inside my home on the last few 40° days. I was aslo able to open them wide and enjoy the breeze on the spikes of temperature. DC was into this schizo-temperature thing in "spring" of 2013, and it continues today. At any rate, the scheduling hiccup that occurred was a result of the crazy DC weather. But everything else was smooth sailing from that point on. Sales Brian was fantastic. I loved that small demo window thing he brought with him. I think that sold me. Call me ga-ga for gadgets if you want, but I liked being able to work the demo window in advance of having them installed. Measuring Bryan came by days later to get some precision details on each window. Then, Sonny, Ryan, and Brandon, the installation crew arrived for the installation. They came with saws, hammers, screwdrivers, caulk guns, and a whole workstation setup in my carport, oh, and of course my new windows. Hours later, I had eight new beautiful windows! Awesome! I am happy now. I am trusting that I will still be happy in the middle of winter. I truly hope I will still be happy 1 year, 5 years, 10 years (and so on) from now. I can always update this review at that time. But for now, WOO HOO!!! THIS IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS! read more

My husband and I were interrupted by pounding on our door like it was the police after 8pm last night. I'm not kidding it was POUNDING! We were quite startled and worried it WAS the police or a neighbor and something was wrong! So my husband went to answer the door. It was some guy with a doorknob flyer. My husband was like its late man. And this guy barely apologized and was more interested in getting out his shpeel about doing work at a neighbors house and if we are interested blah blah. I was very scared during this whole time because our porch light is out and my husband is standing there talking to some strange man... And I'm like windows what? Who is it? Shut the door! Bottom line: It was incredibly inconsiderate and just plain strange to go POUNDING on homes in the dark at that hour on a weeknight... Moment after my husband closed the door on this guy I felt the wall shake (townhouse) from him pounding on our neighbors door... Unbelievable! FYI name written on flyer was JACK. Very disappointing experience today with Thompson Creek. The delivery team showed up and immediately informed us they had the wrong doors but asked if we wanted the doors anyways. For $5,200 we wanted the doors we had ordered as these looked entirely different. Had Thompson Creek called us prior to the delivery day we wouldn't have taken off work, removed blinds from the wall, taken down our tv, etc. I understand mistakes happen but the lack of communication and transparency was unacceptable. We were told today that someone from Thompson Creek would call us next week but I'm not sure at this point this is a company we would want to continue to work with. read more

Customer service sucks. Salesman came out and did everything then wrote out an estimate and said I could not have it he would email it to me. Suffice to say he never emailed it. I get another email saying they are not going to meet their quota what can we do. I reply and receive no reply. Complain to customer service and I get an oh I'm sorry from the salesman and that's it. We had Thompson Creek replace all of our windows in Jan of 2014. At the time of installation they came with one less window than needed. This was in my sons room and we insisted, naturally, that since the old window had already been removed (before checking that they had all the new windows) that a new one go in that day. They swapped out a window designated for another room. That seemed very odd to us given how much they sold us on all of them being custom made. Never the less, within a few weeks that issue was remedied and have not had a problem with either window. However, last summer during several heavy storms, rain started pouring through a window in our family room causing quite a bit of drywall damage around the frame. It took quite a while to get someone out to help us, which did not please us at all. When an inspector came, he determined that a piece on the outside was tilted the wrong way. It was fixed but we insisted that they repair our drywall. When that was done, we were left with an ugly patch job that required us to repaint the whole room. This was both costly,messy, and time consuming. Our painter could not believe the mess TC left behind. But, we thought all was done. You can guess where this tale is going. Yep, with tonight's rain we find another leak in the same spot. Not as bad, but upon closer inspection, it has been leaking for awhile with the drywall damage again. I'm tired of fighting to have this fixed. We aren't done and I will update my review, but as of now, given our experience both recent and past, I will not recommend Thompson Creek. read more

Windows and Install went well. We love the windows. We also had the gutters replaced. The overall cost was a little high. The house looked great. However, within about a month we noticed that the corner brackets finish was already peeling off. Called and made an appointment. They had to cancel due to weather. We rescheduled and they showed up but didn't have the proper equipment? I was told that I didn't need to be there for the repair. They said they would reschedule. Never heard back so I called again to get another appointment. Update - during this call I found out that whatever team they sent out reported back that they fixed the issue. Note to TC. If a customer calls with a problem get back to them, don't put the onus on the customer to manage the problem. As I sit here this is my 3rd call to get this rectified. So I may rerate after I see how this is handled... Update 11/07/2018 - So I got hold of them again. They asked for photos. I sent them photos. Then - nothing. It's been 7 days since that interaction and they have not made one attempt to contact me. I on the other hand have emailed their support team twice. read more

The representative came in during one of the worst snow storms even though his car got jammed for nearly an hour to get to us. The demo was fantastic, he was extremely friendly and respectful and above all NOT pushy or forcing us into a deal at all - He made us take our time to discuss the purchase my husband. They understood our limited budget and agreed to work with us. They accommodated everything and were upfront and transparent which is a big for us having gone through this process with other companies, Highly recommend them. read more

Not just high-pressure sales tactics, but discriminatory as well - as a young, single female I was asked no fewer than three times on the phone and again by the visiting sales associate whether I was 'sure' I was 'the only decision maker' for the home's windows. Um, I own it, and the only other house resident is the dog who, while male, only cares that he can see out of the windows. The 'best possible' price quote was still almost twice the other estimates I had received, and while I understand paying a certain percentage more for a lifetime guarantee, the 'exploding offer' tactic was not appealing and did NOT make me confident that the final bill would be as promised. Interestingly, my neighbors (a married couple) had no issues with the company and got a great price. If Thompson Creek believed that as a single female homeowner I'd be an easy mark, they are sadly mistaken. read more

The sales representatives were polite and very clear about everything, I was never asked to sign anything before I understood what it was, their prices were not the cheapest nor the most expensive, and the quality of the windows was excellent. This is a very long review. Please note, I understand things happen & no project is perfect. We shopped around; TC was by far the most expensive. We appreciated that they manufactured their windows in house, there is no middleman, making the warranty process much easier if anything goes wrong. We had the project manager come out to do final measurements. When he was there, he explained the original plan to have sliders put on the back house would not be do-able b/c of the size. This sparked my 1st concern in my mind as to, if they manufacture their windows, how is it that you cannot make that size? He was preparing to leave w/out measuring the remaining back windows, when my husband asked that he take the measurements now, to prevent him from coming back out again. He measured and left. I gave it a day or 2 & with no call from TC, I emailed the sales rep & asked what the plan was now. We went with double hung & of course this meant a price increase. This was the last time I ever heard from or spoke to the sales rep. Next call was from the Project Coordinator, stating the PM had to come out & re-measure. I asked why when we specifically asked him to measure when he was there. We were told it had to do with how the sales rep put in the new order. We set aside the time for a second re-measure and asked if we could have a different PM b/c of the 1st visit & he was not the friendliest person to deal with. We were told he is the only one in this area. While he was there on 2nd measure, he scheduled the install. We were originally told it would be a 1-day job, suddenly it is now a 2-day job. He leaves, I sat there thinking, & realized the PM never mentioned the color of the trim. I called the PC & she told me she would send me the details. We verified everything & were good to go. We received a call a week later saying the install would have to be push from the 26th/27th to the 31st. This felt better knowing, now they can knock it out in 1 day vs 2. They called several days before install & said the crew would be there on the scheduled day. Note, I was told they would only cancel or push back an install date if the windows were not completed in time or poor weather. The day of the install, we are prepared & ready to go. Furniture has been moved away from the windows; all window treatments have been removed. The crew is scheduled to arrive between 8 & 12. The weather was perfect, not a cloud in the sky. I received a call at 10:10 saying the install will not happen today. This call was upsetting, where was the call at 8am? I was never given a reason for the cancellation. I expressed how the weather was perfect, the house is open with no window treatments. The PC apologized but again, no explanation. They rescheduled again for the next day, this time I asked that I get a 30-minute call ahead. The day of install the crew arrives bright & early, no call ahead. I would like to stress; how friendly the install team was. They went right to work & cleaned up very well. There was a language barrier with them, but we were able to understand the main points. Of the 16 windows 1 was cracked & broken & part of our wall was damaged when removing the old window, however they patched it up. The crew finished & I had to ask about the broken window & patch job. Once they left, I took pictures & sent an email to my PC. I received a call a little later & was told they were glad I sent it because they were not told about either. I was also told that a PM was supposed to come by and inspect the job. To this day, we never received that inspection. The broken window was replaced 4 weeks later. I am not too concerned about the patched wall, I just wanted to note it in case of future leaks or issues. Fast forward another two weeks later. The PC calls to see how it went with the replacement window. She offered $150 off our total. The work is done, the windows look amazing. I am truly happy with the look and quality. However, they are not worth the money, stress, & missed time from work. That is why I would not refer or recommend Thompson Creek to anyone. read more

We fiiiinally got the windows replaced in our circa 1945 home - the one I grew up in, which the hubs and I bought from my parents. The one that was always freezing, partially because my parents were ridiculous with the thermostat setting, but also partially because the windows were the ORIGINAL WINDOWS! You could literally feel a breeze around the edge of some of them. We had our new windows done in two installments, one batch last year and one last week, and our experience with Thompson Creek and their customer service has been overwhelmingly, impressively positive. Yes, their sales pitch can come off as high pressure, but we liked our sales guy anyway. He was personable and genuine, and we'd done enough research to know there was validity to the information he was offering. He helped us stack up like three different discounts, bringing prices to well below what other salespeople had "come down to," and told us about how to go about getting the tax rebate that was being offered last year. The installations went smoothly - they're flexible with their scheduling and, get this, come on time!! Both visits, they've given us a time window for showing up, and they've shown up right at the beginning of it. They left no mess, just a warmer, more up-to-date house. When we didn't get our tax rebate check due to an error with timing, we called Thompson Creek to complain, not really expecting them to do anything about it, and they SENT US A CHECK for the amount of the tax rebate (over $1000). Unreal! When I noticed a window screen looked kind of bent, they sent out a technician the same day who fixed it in about 20 seconds, and when I thanked him and apologized for calling him out for something so dumb, he just said, "No thanks needed, ma'am, it's just part of the deal when you're with Thompson Creek!" He was totally serious. When the bill came through for our second round of installations, we noticed the prices were higher. We found out that one of the discounts was no longer running. But when we explained that we'd thought we'd still get all the original discounts, they credited us back for the difference (over $500). Thompson Creek has proven over and over again that they are fully invested in making sure their customers are happy and satisfied, even when they're losing money to make it happen. It's really crazy. Do some research so you don't feel overwhelmed by the sales pitch, because once you're on board, they take incredible care of you! read more

We reached out to several window companies in the area. The idea that husband and wife have to be involved is a little tiring. But both of us were here when the sales person came. I had read the reviews on the sales process. We actually found our sales rep to be very nice. Yes he wouldn't leave without a contract signed, but his knowledge of the product and demonstration sold us. We got our new windows installed 2 weeks later and have been very happy with them. The installation crew was nice and efficient. Left a little mess in the yard but nothing to fret about. read more

Representative NEVER SHOWED for appointment. I called to discuss and because I hadn't confirmed appointment (other than contacting them for an appointment in the first place) they never sent anyone to bid. Relatively cheap doors and windows. Poor worksmanship (cheap caulking around windows has shrunk and cracked, leaking air in winter). Door locking mechanism gave out little more than a year. Front door wasn't seating correctly and high-end storm door/retractable screen stopped closing after a year. Outside door handle coating peeled off and looks crappy. TC team came out, re-seated front and storm doors but said they weren't responsible for the caulking because of house settling and forgot to replace the door handle. I countered that settling does not cause caulk to shrink nor crack but they insisted on not fixing it. read more

After receiving our tax refund, it was time to do some home improvement. So I contacted Thompson Creek and they sent a sales guy to come by. I will have to agree with the other reviews that it is tough to get them out the door during the sales pitch. Regardless, we were able to get a 30% discount that day and started the ball rolling. The next step was the measurements for the gutters which occurred a week later. The TC guy showed up, measured the front and the back, confirmed the color choices and went on his way. So far so good. This past Tuesday, the "Crew" shows up. The only designation that the crew was from TC was the truck. Se Habla Espanol solamente? Si. You will definitely need to speak Spanish when dealing with the crew. Anyway, the guys got started right away and finished installing the front and back gutters in 5 hours. They cleaned up the area and took the old gutters with them. David the project coordinator did a good job of communicating from start to finish. Overall, the experience was pretty good. The gutters and new soffett look great, So this project is off my list. read more

They said they needed me to set aside like an hour or more to go over stuff even though we had a specific task in mind. I don't have that kind of time readily available so I delayed scheduling an appointment. They called me 5-10x a day for a week or two badgering me to schedule an appt. Of course, I was quickly fed up with this and told them to take a hike. It didn't work. They kept calling. I kept ignoring them or telling them to stop calling me. Finally, they stopped. A couple months later they are calling me again. I answered once and asked them to PLEASE STOP CALLING MY CELL PHONE!!! Yet they still do. A friend of mine says I can take legal action. We've had Thompson creek outdoor three jobs and each time they were the consummate professionals. Great product at an almost fair price - but you get to sell (when you sell) and give the new owners a lifetime warranty as well. We had one hiccup on a large sliding door. It was mismeasures twice. They immediately made a new set of sliders to the correct size - no questions asked. When one window came immediately out during washing they came over to show how to move the sliding holders - one had slid down to the bottom - back into place to reseat the window. read more

I never made it to the install because the whole experience prior was awful. I just wanted out. Non-responsive. Sit on phone forever. No one but one person to handle your case, and that person is never there. Thompson Creek will take advantage of you. They make false promises. They prey on the elderly. They talk a big game which is how they landed me, but fail to perform. Good luck trying to get your contract cancelled. I ordered the best window, and 33 of them, about $22,000, not chump change. Financed the whole amount. Now I'm trying to get out and they want to keep $4500. read more

The sales and installation team were very professional, but they installed my door wrong, not enough to notice, but enough to let water into the base of it. A few months later, my door stinks of mildew. I called to have someone take care of it, and it took 6 weeks for someone to say, "Yeah the door was installed wrong, we need to replace it." Then it took another 3 weeks for them to get a crew out to my house, the entire time my house smells like mold and mildew. When they finally arrived, 9 weeks after I originally called to complain, they brought the wrong door. It took me escalating three times and fourteen phone calls to get the door replaced, and then they did not even offer me a discount, let alone a refund. I am extremely unimpressed and will never be doing business with them again. read more

Over the last year we hired Thompson Creek to replace the majority of windows and two doors in our 33 year old house in Maryland. They did a great job on both. From the first estimates/sales calls to the actual install they were on time, courteous, and professional on these very big jobs. I like that they manufacture the windows locally in their own fab, and the products are solid. We saved a lot of money on our heating bills during the past winter and were even more surprised and happy that when they installed a garage entry door from our mudroom, the bathroom above that became about 3-4 degrees warmer with no draft anymore. Our new colonial blue front door is not only also draft free but beautiful too. read more

Please don't be fooled by their "life-time" guarantee and their "your call is very important to us." I have Thompson Creek windows (21 of them), gutter system, soffits, and siding trim work. I "tried" to call and invoke my guarantee on a broken soffit. I was concerned with the wind taking the entire soffit down and animals entering the house through it. The person answering the call promised to send an e-mail to the maintenance department. This happened twice with no response. Then I was forwarded to the voice-mail of Terrance -- again, never a response. I object to their false advertising and false claims of customer importance. I will NOT waste another dime on this company. read more

A few years ago we had Thompson Creek replace the windows and patio doors on our townhouse. The work was well done and has held up over time, and we're pleased with it. Recently I've been trying to contact them about a related issue, and it's been . . . difficult. -- I called the service department. I got a recorded answer saying that their reps were busy and that "because we know you have a million things to do," they would answer my call soon. After waiting a short time, I opted to leave my number for a callback. No one called. -- The next day I called again and stayed on the line, listening to this very irritating recording dozens of times over perhaps 15 minutes; I never spoke to anyone. I again left my number; no one called. -- I sent an E-mail to a staff member I had dealt with earlier. She was no longer employed there, and the automated message I got said that her replacement would be out until next week. The message suggested I call her "team" at a given number. I did so; the phone rang about 20 times but was never picked up. Thompson Creek is a good company. They would be a better company if their staff weren't so extremely difficult to get hold of. read more

Between 2008 and 2015 I used the thompson creek company to replace my home windows, cap all the exterior wood surfaces of my home that were able to be capped, replace my main entry door, and replace the storm door. My home looks great and I am pleased with the energy savings that resulted from replacing doors and windows. I would give five stars for the look of the finished products. The sales representatives were great, on time, and appropriately describe the products and prices. I would give five stars for the sales representatives. There were scheduling glitches with many of the measurment and installation dates, none of which were related to me or caused by me. I would give two to three stars regarding scheduling of measurements and installation. Given the above, one might inquire about the two star rating over all. This is related to scheduling service on installed thompson creek products. A few years back I needed service on one of the thompson creek windows. It took several telephone calls before I could even schedule an appointment. I did not receive return calls. I was told that service is not scheduled on Saturdays. It was only after asking and then demanding to speak with a higher level representative that I was able to schedule an appointment, though not on a Saturday. I had a similar experience earlier this year when I needed service related to the locking mechanism on my entry door. Of note was that the problem seemed to be corrected by the technician removing the striking plate. I questioned this, as I remember the sales representative and installation coordinator saying that with that piece in place it is more difficult for someone to kick in the door. The service representative denied that the strike plate makes a difference. I made a note of that contradiction of information. Furthermore, removal of the strike plate did not resolve the problem and now both the deadbolt and the traditional door knob are malfunctioning. On Tuesday of this week I called to schedule service related to my windows and door locks. I called very early on Tuesday and was told that there were no service coordinators available. Because of the type of work that I do my ability to make and receive calls during the work day is limited. The person with whom I spoke requested a callback number and times that I would be available. As requested, I left the times that I could be reached and added that I could also be reached at 4:30 PM or later. I was told that I would receive a return call by someone at the latest before the close of the next day, Wednesday. Needless to say I did not receive a call. On today, which is Thursday of the same week I am home ill. I phoned again and was transferred to the service coordination line. I first selected the option to receive a call back and assumed it would be later the same day, however only after selecting the option to set up a return call does the automated voice tell you that the return call could be the following day. Given I will be working the following day I called back and decided to remain on hold. After 90 minutes an actual human picked up to assist in my request to schedule service. The date that I initially requested which was three weeks out was not available. And in fact I was told that there were no service dates available until the month of November. I was also told that there are no weekend days available until November. I shared that in the past I was told that service appointments were not scheduled on weekends though when I first contracted with the company regarding windows I was told weekend service was available. The representative told me that there are weekend days though they book quickly. I shared that I understand that though there is a difference between that statement and being told that there are no service hours on the weekend. I ultimately selected a November date. The representative stated that she was putting in a request for someone to attempt a Saturday appointment to address the door locks in order for me to have access to my entry door. I also shared the excessive amount of time that I waited on hold. I also shared that I initially selected the return call option though I called back and opted to remain on hold after finding out that my return call might be the next day. The representative then shared that the process has been changed and all calls are returned before the end of the same business day. I recommended that a change be made to the message consumers hear after they select the option of adding themselves to the return call list. I would not have remained on hold for 90-minutes listening to the thompson creek message repeatedly. Hopefully the scheduled service will occur as planned and these issues will be addressed. read more

Contacted TC about scheduling an estimate for siding. After going thru the standard questions, we get to scheduling the time. I indicate that I need to schedule for the week of June 11th (that's slight more than 2 weeks away) and the response I get is 'sorry, our schedule doesn't go out that far. Can we call you at a later date to schedule?'. Say what? doesn't go out more than two weeks??? Sorry, TC, but this is one sale you won't have a chance at as my life is a tad complicated so I need to schedule things in advance and it's unfortunate that you don't have that ability. ReRequest new keys for door they install last year.first time they said they send them in three wks.Never recieved. Next request they said we would get in two weeks. Called four times now about getting a window repaired (one they installed). I didn't even blink when they said it wasn't covered under the warranty because I expected that excuse, but I'm willing to pay to have the window repaired. Every time I talk to someone they are going to "do some research " and get back to me. So much for using a local company. Please don't waste your time. read more
