We stopped at this Sonoma winery as part of a great electric trike tour through the city. We were not disappointed. Great hospitality and excellent wine makes for a top notch experience. Three Fat Guys is named for three former offensive linemen who played for the Green Bay Packers (including Jason Spitz from our hometown Louisville - GO CARDS!). Apparently legendary Packer QB Brett Farve called them fat guys and they didn't take offense. Thus a brand name was born. Sophie was our wine hostess on a spectacular day and we sat out back in the shade, overlooking a fabulous garden brimming with all kinds of flowers. She was fantastic telling us about the wines, the vineyards where they came from, and what to expect as we sipped. We found out Sophie is engaged so if you go, be sure to tell her congrats since the big day is coming up in 2024! Great experience, and the wine is pretty darn great, too. Small and inviting tasting room. The back area is very pretty with a tent and there are some tables with firepits to keep you warm on the upcoming cold months. Staff was very friendly and told us a little about how the name of this tasting room happened. We even met one of the owners there and he came to the table to talk to us for a bit. The wine was good and I am not a wine expert but the aroma of all their wines was very good. Prices were reasonable compared to most in Sonoma area. The one thing that sticks out from this tasting room are their variety of memberships from 1 bottle to 12 bottles. It really fits everyone's budget. We will definitely be back. read more

One of my all time favorite wines. I came here in 2019 and loved there wines that we became a member and it's still a fabulous one! The winery itself is small but intimate and a great experience. I've been coming by the tasting room at Three Fat Guys since the soft opening way back before the pandemic. Loved it then, and it's only gotten better. Tony Moll (Fat Guy #1) and his team have created a relaxed, warm, welcoming space (dog friendly, fyi...) that's the perfect environment to sit a sample their growing variety of wines. I'm a BIG fan of their sauvignon blanc as well as the delightful rose. And if you're a fan of pinot, you'll love the 2021 Carneros Pinot. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable without being pretentious, and they're happy to answer any and all your questions while pouring you generous tastings. Came for a tasting at 4:30pm because it was the only place nearby open at the time. We were the only ones there and had a great time. We did 1 tasting a day for a week and this one was one of the best balanced, with solid wines across the board. We didn't end up falling in love enough to buy anything but had a great experience. Second time here, and a really enjoyable experience... Tony and his workers were amiable and the atmosphere was great for enjoying the wines, which are much more delicate and finely-crafted than the name might imply. The pinot noir and cabernet are pretty fantastic, though the pricetags a little too prohibitive to buy any (we have, however, bought their "Linemen" red blend, which is a more approachable price but unfortunately currently sold out.) The chardonnay is also quite good, with a sort of medium-bodied lemon curd (with hints of butterscotch) flavor. Oh, and the dog-friendly setting was also a bonus for bringing my brother's well-behaved fur-baby along. read more

So I had really high hopes for this place based on the Yelp reviews and let me just say it didn't disappoint. They have turned the back area of the tasting room into a great little space to hang out and drink some fantastic wine. They are doing wonderful with COVID safety. I watched them spray down chairs after people left with disinfectant along with the bathroom as well. Now for the wine.....it was fantastic. I loved the bottles the wine comes in very elegant looking. The only thing we didn't care for was the Chardonnay, but we don't like that anywhere. We ended up purchasing 3 bottles from them including the pricey cab. The day we were there they also had a food truck selling pizza, salads and empanadas. Do yourself a favor and check this place out next time you are in town. read more

We live close by, are frequent visitors to this wine region and really wanted to like this winery. On our most recent trip, we stopped by on our way home. Upon entering at 4:30PM, woman behind the bar wearing a hat proceeded to immediately comment that tastings are no longer available and our option was a glass. We thought that was totally reasonable since it was end of the day. Unfortunately and completely disappointedly, the pours were incredibly short. We only realized this when entering the back patio and witnessing the same server provide equivalent/larger pours for TASTING. The patio FULL of tasting guests was yet another surprise since we thought she had refused tasting to us due to no-one being around and trying to close on time. Needless to say, we will not be revisiting with tons of other options available. read more

We stopped here today for our first time while visiting other wineries in the area. We are experienced wine drinkers and confess we stopped by because of the football/Packer link. Imagine our surprise that the wine was really good! The hosts were wonderful and we loved the casual and informal atmosphere. So much better than what Napa has turned into over recent years. We ended our visit not only buying several bottles (Pinot, Cab) but also joining their wine club. I am so happy that we first chanced upon Three Fat Guys Wines back in July 2020 - the unassuming but welcoming back patio and yard were the perfect safe outdoor retreat when we needed to get out of the house during COVID quarantine. Why I love TFG and continue to go back: the wines are high quality - they'll tell you themselves their bottles are not the cheapest you'll find - but the atmosphere is warm and relaxed. The owners and team never rush us through our tasting, always encourage us to grab a bottle and extend our stay, and love to sit and chat with us about the wines, the business, and a little bit of football. Three Fat Guys (TFG) is one of our favorite tasting rooms. The owner is extremely friendly and a pleasure to talk with. Great staff and customer service. The wine is incredible. Very good chardonnay, and excellent rose. The wines that stand out the most to me are the Pinot Noir and Cabernet. The Pinot Noir is very well balanced and delicious. The flagship in my opinion is the TFG Beckstoffer Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a serious Cabernet and in my opinion a masterpiece. I recently did a flight of Beckstoffer "To Kalon" Cabernet at another winery priced at double of what TFG's cab is, and in my opinion TFG Cab is better at half the price. If you like amazing Napa Cabernet you need to try the TFG Beckstoffer cabs! read more
