    Run route.

There's a 5k Beer Run Series I found through Eventbrite, and decided to volunteer at it. This Saturday's host was Threshold. Situated where 79th bumps into Stark St., there's a closed off pedestrian plaza with tables to chill at. Not sure if this was only for the event, but there was a piano in the middle of the road, so I'd go with permanent. The 5k started at the brewery, then went up around Mt. Tabor and back down. Had a festive gathering afterwards. Tried the Good Dog Guava sour. Liked it! Took my beer outside and said hi to dogs and people. It was a good event. Looking forward to the next one.

Popped in for a book swap that was being held at Threshold. Staff was friendly and although not a super large space there is indoor and outdoor seating and the vibe is chill.

Came here for the hot dog week special. This place is tiny and I would never opt to eat here again. Not saying I wouldn't get food, but not a place I want to stay. Server was nice and it didn't take long to get our food. The food itself was pretty simple but was a good portion for the price and had flavor. Parking is awful around here but if you're willing to walk a few blocks if necessary it won't be a problem. The cramped space is one thing, but it seems to be a toddler hangout. Could not wait to finish so we could leave. Almost every table had small children and many seemed to know eachother. Probably why they didn't think it odd to let the kids run around and be excessively loud. They were bringing entire game sets into for this small space. It was about the most ridiculous thing I've seen. Staff does not control the situation. I expect this from a children's play place, not a brewery. Honestly it's nothing special as far as their regular food menu goes and there's plenty of beer to be found around here.

Threshold Brewing & Blending is definitely a brewery I walked away being very impressed with! Steve and I had three of their beers. All three being different beer styles so we got a nice, broad view of what we can expect. The first beer was the Plum Decision. Yes, a plum beer. I liked it pretty well. It was definitely experimental and creative with it's flavor with the plum of course followed by dry, tartness, chocolate and sweetness. Lots of complexity there. The beer just kept getting better and better with The Cruise. A Grodziskie beer. Something you don't see much at all. This is a light and quaffable beer with a smoky flavor along with a bready wheat flavor. Very good and something a craft beer adventurer should try. Jack Knife was the final beer of the three. A Milk Stout. Definitely a change of pace as this was a thick, sweet beer but so delicious! Flavor highlights with this are smokiness, whisky and marshmallows. Really a good stout to settle down to for the evening. Most appropriate for on a cold, wintery evening by the fireplace or a crisp evening around a camp fire.

Totally have to come back! I was there for the 5K run and enjoyed the hazy and heard others talking about the IPA. Will have to go back to try more beers! Parking is harder to come by and you'll be parking a block or two away on a residential side street

Great little brewpub with a decent assortment of really good beers. Airy with a nice ambiance and pleasant service. You can bring in your own food or order food at the counter. Beer flights are reasonably priced.

Came for Cousins lobster. Really loved the place. Bartender was great. Made a perfect recommendation and gave a taste. Cool neighborhood ambience and some great events. Definitely check it out. Really enjoyed the Polish style Pilsner.

Super cool spot! We had cider so I can't comment on the beer, but they have a great, spacious indoor area and lovely outdoor seating with heaters. Abe was super friendly and knowledgeable about all their cool drink options. I tried some of the warm mulled hoppy beer. It was tasty and quite warming. I look forward to coming back and trying their beers.

Great beers and comfortable atmosphere. The food selection is small but tasty. We happened to go of a crafty Tuesday and spent sometime coloring.

My partner and I LOVE stopping by Threshold. They offer a great selection of seasonal beers which my partner enjoys while I get to enjoy the smoothie beers - don't knock it till you try it. You can even take some beers home as they have canned options. Try their Polish pizza as a small bite! Great neighborhood spot and so glad we discovered it. Best part: dogs allowed on the patio. What a great excuse to "walk the dogs" and grab a bevy on the way home ;)

    A wonderful taster

Threshold has a light industrial feel to it that I find just right. Something else that was just right on our most recent visit was a suggestion by the bartender to try two variations as part of a taster. One was the "Jens Bailed Grisette farmhouse ale" and the other was the "Jens In The Woods 'Whiskey' barrel aged" version of the same beer. I've always been skeptical of oddball aging processes, but this was a fascinating and delicious change. The third thing that worked perfectly on our last visit was food provided by Kichana. We had a quesadilla with purple cabbage that I would happily return to experience as a main reason to visit.

Threshold Brewing is a must-visit craft brewery in Portland. The owners, Sara and Jarek, are an absolute riot. Their dog-friendly taproom and patio are a great spot to hang out and grab a pint in the Montavilla neighborhood. They host events all the time! You won't disappointed!

The kid space was a great size and my two small ones loved being able to play while we ate. I loved that they had some great open ended toys and I didn't need to worry about them disturbing our neighbors. Our server, Emma, was great! She was attentive and quick. She even made our kids chocolate milk even though it's not on the menu. Our food was amazing. We had the kids butter noodles (I'd order that for my adult meal if I could!), kids cheeseburger, deviled eggs, caprese with prosciutto, and fish and chips. The fish was so good and big! Definitely enjoyed our experience here!

At 4:35 the appetizer showed up as I finished my second beer, moments before my parking ran out. Nobody communicated with me about the delay. I was ignored by staff the entire time. Most restaurants target 10-15 minutes for apps - this was 40 minutes, and the restaurant was not packed. Other patrons who ordered after me successfully received their food. They said the app was comped, but after I said I had to leave, the app never even made it to my seat. I left Deschutes hungry and disappointed.

My wife and I drove over 30 minutes to visit this location because we were looking forward to enjoying good BBQ, tacos and a beer. Unfortunately, the political signage displayed throughout the windows and establishment made us feel unwelcome, so we decided not to stay. Great Notion and Matt's BBQ Tacos, you've pushed away customers who came ready to support your business and spend money with you. I wish you the best, but it seems you've chosen to operate not only as a restaurant and brewery, but also as a platform for political messaging. That's your right, of course, but it's a direction that may alienate customers who simply want to enjoy good food and drinks without politics being part of the experience.

The Blueberry Muffin is an all-time favorite, and even though I get annoyed when they're sold out, it's never enough to keep me away. Most times I get a flight and try a bunch of different things. This location is charming. It has the industrial decor that now feels cliché but was groundbreaking for beer and burger spots a decade ago. With a very large patio and big garage doors, it's great during summer especially. Staff is knowledgeable about their beer, patient while we deliberated, and did us a favor to help the beer travel on the plane. The kitchen is now operated by Matt's BBQ Tacos (which I will review separately).

I love the space as well, though if you're looking for somewhere for a quiet conversation and welcoming pastels this is NOT your spot. I wish we could bring the kids to hang out with us on the patio at least, but Portland permitting is weird AF. I am a big fan of the indoor/outdoor flow for the space, especially on nice weather afternoons like we have had recently. Outdoor seating is limited, so be prepared to sit inside. Interior seating is not the most comfortable, with former church bleachers that are quite bouncy or large and hard game of thrones-like high chairs. The team is super friendly and will send you to the food station or the bar depending on your needs, and, with the good quality Mexican cuisine on service, you'll want a taco or two. The brewery specializes in Hazy/IPAs, to come expecting to enjoy these PNW basics. I swapped between them and non-alcoholic options since hazies are not my favorite but everyone I was with loved them. The restrooms are clean and there are plenty of bike stands to make this a car-free journey.
