A hidden gem in Bar Harbor! After lots of not-so-healthy choices on our trip in Maine, I was looking for a health-conscious breakfast place and quickly came across this gem. It's on a quiet street before you get to the main part of downtown Bar Harbor. The space is clean, modern, and fresh with a few tables inside for dining. I ordered a quinoa salad bowl which was very hearty. Their sauce tasted amazing and I actually wish there was more to complement the amount of spinach I got in that bowl (definitely 3 times the amount of iron I probably needed that day). Thrive Juice Bar & Kitchen is a decent place to stop by for a healthy, refreshing drink or snack after hiking in Acadia National Park. I wasn't a huge fan though. I came here twice during the weekend I spent in Bar Harbor and tried two different smoothies: Revitalize & Jungle Green. Both were just OK to me...I thought everything was overpriced - $8 not including tax for a smoothie and $10 for a green juice. I've been on a smoothie kick lately and Thrive just really wasn't cutting it for me. Day 1: tried the Revitalize - it definitely tasted healthy (meaning not that great)...I just wasn't feeling the ratio or blend of all of the ingredients. The balance of flavors wasn't really there for me which is sad because I normally love spinach, kale, and pineapple together. This led me to trying the Jungle Green on Day 2 because it had the spinach, kale, and pineapple but also mango (along with many other things) to amp it up. Unfortunately, I didn't care for the Jungle Green either...the only flavors that stood out were the bananas and dates. I didn't like it enough to finish it so there goes $8 down the drain. Maybe their signatures or smoothie bowls are better but I prefer the smoothies I make at home with my Ninja blender. I do appreciate that they are environmentally conscious. They use paper straws instead of plastic and compostable cups. While I appreciate the effort, paper straws do not hold up well with smoothies. read more

Great stop for a quick, healthy breakfast for snack. We actually came here two days in a row because we liked the smoothies so much the first day. All of the smoothies were good, including the blueberry brekkie, blue mermaid, and chai almond protein - the latter was a very unique flavor combo with the chai. The smoothie bowls were very good and filling, with the protein and toppings. I was excited to try this place but left disappointed. My husband ordered the turkey wrap and asked for his bacon to be extra crispy, but it was so rubbery that he had to pull it all out of the sandwich. A good fresh spot that we got for lunch after hiking Cadillac Mountain! We ordered ahead, and it was done pretty quickly and came in eco-friendly packaging. My sister got the lobster poke bowl, my mom got the lobster salad avocado toast. They both really enjoyed their lunches. I got the avocado toast, which was good but just your basic avocado toast. This place is super cute. Fruit tasted fresh. And the service was friendly. The patio is nice with stools and a place to sit outside and enjoy the weather. I got the Blissful Berry smoothie bowl and my friends got the Iron Man bowls. The regular bowls come with a choice of yogurts or granolas and the smoothie I got at the bottom of mine was delicious. A lovely fresh and healthy option nestled between pounds of lobster rolls, clam chowder, and buckets of ice cream. This adorable spot is just steps off the Main Street, and still full of Bar Harbor charm. We found Thrive after sitting in the car all day, and were looking for some fresh and healthy fuel. The menu is plenty big, with fresh made bowls, smoothies, and juices to pick from. There's a cold case as well, stocked with wraps, sandwiches, salads, energy bars, and loaves individually packaged with their ingredient list proudly displayed. All the items in the case were either vegan, gluten free, or both. We shared a salad from the case, their 'All Hail the Kale' vegan caesar salad. It was absolutely delicious! There texture was amazing, the flavors bright and fresh, and the ingredients were perfect - I would recommend this salad to even those who are NOT vegan (including myself!). The dressing was amazing, and I would eat it on my salads back home, if given the option! We also slurped down a Blueberry Brekkie Smoothie (Maine blueberries, strawberry, banana, dates, & almond milk). Fresh, not too sweet, made nicely thick, and served with recyclable straws. Refreshing, refueling, and felt really good! All their packaging is biodegradable or recyclable - you can tell that Thrive strives to make a positive environmental impact! I believe there was even a cute sign about sea turtles and straw use at the check out counter. The workers were friendly and nice, seemed like the summer crew was from local high schools - but knowledgeable about their products. The space itself is super adorable and quaint. There are some window seating options inside the building itself, but there is also a patio of sorts, with chairs under a covered awning which is the perfect spot to catch a slight breeze and devour your goodies. Wow. If you like your food fresh, tasty and inventive, this gem is for you. We had both breakfast and lunch here and both were amazing. The lobster poke bowl is my fave...yummy sauces..fresh veggies and super fresh lobster make this a winner. The in-season pumpkin smoothie...oh boy..what a treat! Sooooo good. And their breakfast sammies... they have something for everyone...carnivores and vegans will both be happy here. Great way to get some healthy Whole Foods to fuel your hikes through Acadia. We stopped here on two occasion during our trip. We also got one of their fresh bottled Green juices which were great! This place is excellent! For most people, it will be the best breakfast burrito ever. I had the green rejuvenator smoothie both times I visited, along with the very berry açaí bowl and the blueberry açaí bowl. I tried two vegan versions of breakfast burrito and vegan BLT tempeh wrap. There was a spice or other ingredient I wasn't able to easily handle, but both were very good . My husband loved the breakfast burrito, the breakfast sandwich, and really enjoyed the very berry bowl and rejuvenator drinks. He also liked the vegan meals. The coffee was excellent also. One note: People with shellfish allergies should tell the staff right away. This cafe does serve lobster. Delicious smoothies are made right there, at the time of your order, as are many other selections. The food is very fresh, the quality is excellent. The staff is wonderful. Every single thing we tried was delicious- the Blue Mermaid smoothie was a definitely favorite- the PB&J toast is out of this world. This place is a true gem, wish we found it sooner during our stay at Bar Harbor. We kept calling and waiting for reservation at other highly reviewed breakfast places and accidentally ran in here. The food was amazing and so were the smoothies. We had avocado toast, falafel wrap, grilled cheese sandwich, turkey wrap, sunny side up with sour dough bread. Everything was tasty and made from healthy ingredients. The place is closed on Monday and Tuesday so we won't be able to visit again before we leave but glad we got to enjoy one meal here. We have literally eaten here every day for the past week we've been here (except Tuesday, when they're closed). Can highly recommend the smoothie bowls, blt wrap, classic egg sandwich, juices...it's all amazing! So nice to sit outside too with the breeze coming in off the harbor.
