This place is far from an artistic underground coffeeshop, but I don't ever see one existing in Kirkland until the Cultural Revolution comes. However, there are some great points to this place which will have me going back. FOOD: I haven't tried their food. I don't eat food in coffeeshops so I will write a review, anyway LOCATION: Very centralized to several downtown Kirkland parking spots. it's located on a very busy, but small street...not much to contend with as far as vehicular traffic, but plenty of passerbys to take a gander at. SMOKING: No, you can't smoke in here. But there is a back door that conveniently dumps into an alley and parking lot, making it convenient to duck out for a smoke without having to stand on the sidewalk (I try to be courteous to non-smokers, so this is a big plus). AMBIENCE: Nothing special. The only source of natural light comes from the south facing windows. I personally like dark places, but this place has white walls that reflect the light and this isn't a cavernous place by any means. This place is smack dab in the heart of Kirkland, so if you're looking for a bohemian hot spot, you've gotta go somewhere else.. WI-FI: Wi-Fi is available here. Two hours of access is free with login. Speed tests run at 10M/8M in the mornings. A very strong point to consider about this place is that they have PLENTY of outlets. This is the biggest challenge I find anywhere I go. No problems here. COFFEE: I drink my coffee black and have been for close to 20 years from San Diego to Seattle.. I've tried a few different beans here, and all were stellar. I think their coffee is well roasted, kept at a comfortable drinking temperature, well rotated...so I'm not sure why some reviews knocked their coffee. I will say that if you're used to the over roasted beans that you get at that naked mermaid coffeeshop, you may think the coffee here is missing that burnt bean flavor you've grown to love. I would normally rate a place like this a 3 (for the lack of creativity), but as a Kirkland resident there are only two options for me to grab a brew and read a book. There are a few key things that I absolutely need in a coffeeshop, and this place has it all covered. This place has gained my repeat business. read more

My favorite coffee shop on the east side! Friendly staff and good coffee. I usually go for a macchiato, cappuccino, or a drip. All are more than satisfying. Especially on cold mornings while I wait for the bus to downtown Seattle. Great atmosphere too. When I bring my little one he orders "Coffee!" and they give him some warm milk in a to-go cup, free of charge. One of the best coffee shops on the Eastside hands down. I always get great service here, and while it is often pretty busy, occasionally there will be some times its pretty quiet and a great place to get some work done or listen to some music for a few hours. Really nice spot for coffee in Kirkland. Walking around on a sunny but chilly morning, I passed by Starbucks and headed right for Caffe Rococo. Though I didn't see it on the menu, I ordered a mocha to-go. There is a 10% off check-in deal, but the clerk told me I can get it any time with just a a smile :) It was interesting and refreshing to me to see a mix of young and old staff. Not just youngsters are into good coffee! The service was slow with a nearby race ending, so I had to wait about five minutes for my drink while my friends waited outside. I've been here a couple times and have really enjoyed it. They have a large selection of single origin coffees and also teas. I haven't had and espresso drinks here since I'm a drip coffee guy so I can't speak to the ability of the baristas but I've had great service both times I've been here. Dark, brooding interior. Ever heard of a skylight? Coffee was okay, vibe of customers not so much. Loud talkers, people on laptops hogging tables for hours. Best bet: BREAKFAST SANDWICH. I had an hour to kill in downtown Kirkland and needed a place to get some stuff done. Caffe Rococo was a perfect place to grab some caffeine, a table, and get work done! The drip coffee was delicious and the almond croissant was delectable. The cold brew was also very good. The prices were on the higher side for drip coffee but comparable for cold brew. The tables were large enough to fit two computers for a two-person table and there was free WiFi. All the chairs were cushioned. I was there on a Monday afternoon and the atmosphere was bustling, but it was the right blend of loud enough where you don't have to worry about talking quietly and quiet enough not to lose concentration in what you're doing. read more

However I get extremely tipped off when i order a coffee for here and I am served it in a to go cup. If an interior designer, a productivity guru, and coffee fiend got together to make a baby (my math is somewhat off in this equation), Caffe Rococco would be the bouncing baby girl. Rococco has a certain spartan elegance to it - it's optimized for productivity. Immediately you walk in, EVERY single seat has a desk/table where you can read/study/laptop it up. There's a hidden section in the back where you can hide even further away and get sh** done. During my visit, EVERYONE was working on some sort of device, including a passionate guy who seemed to be passionately pitching his idea to someone else who seemed like an investor. (Hope the pitch went well dude). The coffee and service is as spartan as the settings - you order and step aside. Small talk isn't common here - the staff get the job done without the NO SOUP FOR YOU attitude. There's a phenomenal selection of teas from Herbal Wellness...a great Sunday morning escape if you ask me. The coffee itself is great - nothing earth shattering here. I did take interest in the Espresso shake - a blend of espresso, gelato, and other tasty things. Highly recommended! Wi-Fi is free...you'll have to renew every three hours, but you don't need to walk up and get a code (finally!). Overall, if you've got sh** to do, want great coffee, and need to be surrounded by other caffeinated get-it-doners, this spot is for you. read more

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Much better than Starbucks around the corner. This is a great place to stud or be able to do work on a laptop without being bothered. Nice wooden tables and padded chairs. I don't feel like they want me to leave or get out. The coffee quality here is very high and the coffee quality compared to the nearby Starbucks or Zoka is hands down the best coffee available. Gotta show Rococo some love now that I am on the Yelp bandwagon. Love coming by in the morning for the quiche lorraine and enjoying it outside on the sidewalk seating. Friendly staff... Adam the owner has been in the coffee shop business for many years and is a familiar face in the Kirkland community; always fun to talk to. Love the personal of the pictures on the walls of regulars.... really makes you feel like the caffe is really an extension of the people themselves. You can always enjoy the scent of fresh roasting coffee here as well since they're usually roasting away in the back. So I absolutely LOVE the coffee here! It's so fresh and delicious. It's become wildly popular over the last few months because it seems to always be crowded/busy (but this could be because the weather is also better). Everyone behind the bar is super nice as well. It's also nice to come in to do some reading or work on my laptop. I can always count on a quality cup of coffee here! Only downside is the prices just increased due to the specialty coffee market prices increasing. Boo. But I always bring my friends to Caff Rococo because it's still my favorite coffee place in Kirkland. read more

Locals have been suggesting this spot since I moved here and as someone who loves coffee and has traveled to many coffee shops, I was really expecting to be blown away. Sadly I'm kind of disappointed with the flavor of the coffee. I really wanted to love this place, everything else about this shop set it up for 5 stars but the coffee flavor itself was a huge let down. The quality and flavor of the coffee was just okay. Which was really disappointing because I wanted to love this place. I honestly expected more with the flavor of the coffee bean, unfortunately the taste wasnt anything special or something to set appart this coffee shop from another. Staff were super friendly, environment was buzzing, clean inside. But the coffee itself was just subpar. I love this place! Granted, I rarely drink coffee. I think coffee is a bit meh and overrated. I think it's sad that so many people are dependent on it or even addicted to the caffeine. So I stay away from coffee not to join that crowd as well as avoiding the amount of energy it gives me. That being said! I love this place! Although a marked improvement over Starbucks ( which frankly tastes bitter/bad ), coffee is just ok: rather bland-tasting, actually, which is surprising considering that they take pains of roasting their own beans on-site. Sadly, adding a couple extra shots won't make much of a difference, taste-wise. My guess is that they are either not roasting them quite right, or else the beans are not top-grade to begin with -- which is more likely. Anyhow, if you are looking for the best tasting coffee in Kirkland, I would recommend Caffe Ladro, though their locale is more cramped and less comfortable than Rococo's. The lack of taste of Rococo's coffee is actually quite stark, after having Ladro's for a few days, I must say. Second best by taste in my opinion, is The French Bakery, surprisingly -- though, perhaps not so surprisingly, considering they use an Italian brand of coffee ( Antibassi ). The Italians take their espresso very seriously, as we know -- Illy in particular. One of the best things going for Rococo is firstly the location. On the outside, Park Lane is very charming, and doesn't have an excessive amount of traffic. On the inside, the shop is quite large, with many choices as far as sitting, though quite dim -- which is ok, if you want to do computer work. The space does feel a bit like a cave. The other good thing going for Rococo is the friendly staff, once you get to know them, who truly make a difference as far as redeeming the place. read more

Excited to see a coffee shop open, especially with Kirkland boarded up due to protests this past week and social distancing. Thrilled to see a few tables available outside. There were 2 open tables while we were the sole patrons ordering, however after receiving our orders, walked outside and all tables were filled people dog visiting with each other. Quite understandable during these times were few businesses are open, let alone providing outdoor seating on a beautiful day. We ordered non- fat lattes, chocolate croissant and brownie. We found a bench at the end of Park Lane to drink & eat. The crossiant was slightly heated and was good. Lattes were terrible. We both thought maybe we had recieved watered down milk tea by mistake. The brownie was marginal... would have liked a more chocolate flavor. $16 Hindsight I should have gone back to give input about the lattes however we were on our way. I have had a couple of cappuccinos and one of their single origin Brazilian coffees. I have been pleasantly surprised by how smooth and creamy their coffee is, even when plain. Unlike the typical burnt, overroasted Starbucks-esque coffees many places serve, Rococo has a light touch with their roast which brings out the more subtle flavors. They are a little hard to find, tucked away in the new Amazon building called Arizona, but they are still open to the public despite the somewhat inconvenient location - they are not street facing, for example. You have to enter the Amazon building's vestibule and kind of wander through this hallway...I wish them luck with an admittedly poor spot! read more

Came here to do work a couple days ago. I have been dying to try it especially after seeing all the cool pictures! The place itself doesn't stand out to say Hey I'm trendy and our coffee is cool, but it has more of a laid back vibe that I like. There are a few couches and some chairs set up on the side. Nothing fancy. It was a great environment to catch up on a good book, get some work done (which is what I did! Free WiFi a Plus!) or to meet up with a friend. The woman at the desk was very friendly. I will be honest here, I am not an expert on coffee, nor to I pretend to be. So I pretty much went up to the counter and asked what they recommended. They had a variety of different options, not just coffee but several teas as well. I was really impressed. The pastries looked good but I didn't have any. In the end I ordered a latte. Caffe Rococo is a nice, non-corporate (thought I think they have aspirations, not sure) coffee shop that has a simple feel to it; their own roast coffee is their core and there's not overt merchandising of mugs and swag. On Friday evenings a four piece "acoustic soul grass" music group called Bet Gone Wrong plays (no cover charge) and it's a nice addition. It's hard to describe their music but it's definitely worth stopping in. They don't over-order their pastries, so you won't get stale ones, but the one you had in mind but have been sold out. If you are thinking of a pastry I would recommend the Cinnamon Roll. Their coffee is really smooth and nice. I usually get a couple of packs to take with me to Pittsburgh. Best coffee I've had on the Eastside. No, thank you, Tully's/Starbucks/Peet's. The crema on the cappucinos and lattes is legit and delicious. The coffee is well roasted and brewed really well. And the place is cute, to boot. I sat in the cafe on a sunny fall day, and the deciduous tree they have outside was bright yellow and stunning--I felt like I was on a movie set. Instead, I chatted the morning away with a friend and had great coffee. Bonus: the food's good, too. The good: delightful coffee. Also, it's relatively undiscovered still, so you can usually find a seat. The bad: the portraits on the wall are a little 80s, but that's not nearly enough to stop me from going back. read more

Went here with a friend on a Friday afternoon to have coffee, enjoy a nice ambiance, and catch up. I should admit, I am by no means a coffee connoisseur, so I mostly go to coffee places for the atmosphere and to relax and hang out, so that's what the review is focused on. This place looked pretty interesting from the pictures on Yelp, so we decided to try it out. I was a bit disappointed as it didn't end up being as cozy as we were hoping for. The tables were very restaurant like, so it wasn't easy to just lean back and relax. It was also super bright inside, taking away from the coziness. There was a guy playing live music while we were there, which was definitely pretty cool (the music was actually good), but it didn't compensate enough for some of the other stuff. I might be a bit overrating the atmosphere aspect here, but hey, that's what mattered to me that day. Aside from that, everything else was pretty OK. I ordered a cafe Americano, which was pretty good. The staff was very friendly, so definitely no shortcomings there. Might go here again, but not my favorite coffee place. read more

I love this place. High quality coffee roasting and solid baristas. Consistent, good stuff every time. The staff is always warm, and it's obvious from looking around the cafe that they value their regular clientele, and the regulars appreciate it. It's a homey environment. My only knocks on the place have to do with the bench seating along the walls - it seems that the benches were built just a tad too high, so the table height feels awkwardly low . . . very minor, picky complaint, really; and there aren't enough seats near power outlets for customers that need to work on their computers. read more

Came in for Sunday breakfast, ordered a vanilla latte and a quiche. The quiche came with either a side salad or a tomato basil soup. Out of these three things, two thumbs up for the soup! When a friend suggested we go here for brunch, I wasn't so sure how large of a selection of breakfast items they would have, but I was pleasantly surprised and had a good experience. The service was a little slow since the place was packed and there wasn't anything too special about the decor, but the people watching and friendly staff helped add to the ambiance. In addition to delicious-looking pastries, they have french toast, quiche and breakfast sandwiches. A friend and I split an order of french toast and quiche, which was absolutely perfect. We also split a French Press (they give you the whole thing!) with one of their bolder roasts. If only we didn't have elsewhere to be, we would have finished the entire thing. Great value for coffee and a meal that rivals what you would find at your typical brunch place for just about $10. Looking forward to my next visit! read more
