I was so excited to have a Thumbs Up open up over here. I used to go to the Decatur and Marietta St locations often. It's good ole classic breakfast food done well. Portions are great and price is great. The servers have been nice everytime that we've gone and we've never had to wait for a table. Bonus, it's nice to know that they take cards now. read more

Tried this diner for the first time this morning. We arrived at 10 am and were seated immediately. It started getting crowded about 5-10 minutes after we arrrived. We were waiting in by a lovely server named Gwen who explained what the diner specialties are and expressed appreciation for coming in to dine. We ordered a pecan pancake, scrambled eggs with cheese, a chicken salad melt, French toast and sausage. All were really well-prepared. Be aware, the portions were large. We could have split some entrees and still had enough to eat between the three of us. The restaurant was clean and all staff were friendly and accommodating. If there was one thing to mention that isn't completely positive it would be that the tables next to the door may be subjected to the weather. It was a bit chilly when the door opened. I am so excited that we have a new brunch place in Austell. And even more excited that it's a Thumbs Up. Amazing breakfast and lunch. It's conveniently off the east west connector with plenty of free parking. Coffee is good and everything I have ordered has came out fast and hot. Prices are amazing. This was my second visit to the Austell location, and I've dined at other TU restaurants many times over the years. Each visit always delivers for me. On this visit, my son and I ordered the Pancake Special with eggs, grits, and bacon and a Low Country Heap with spuds, eggs, shrimp, and chicken sausage in a spicy sauce. First and foremost, yay! I did a u-turn on East-West Connector when I saw the name Thumbs Up Diner..in Cobb County. I thought could it be? I only know of one Thumbs Up and so I turned around, parked and logged onto Yelp to investigate. And just like that, I was out the car and walking inside. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with chicken sausage and a side order of cheese grits. I also ordered a cup of Lou's Coffee which is a blend of hot chocolate, coffee, and whipped cream with chocolate syrup drizzled across the top. Everything was good, my only gripe was my sandwich wasn't really a sandwich for me because the chicken sausage was only enough to cover one side. Then there's no grape jelly, only peach. The jelly situation is just my preference lol. But I'll be back. So glad they are in Cobb. read more

I had a doctor's appointment scheduled around my lunch break and opted to eat at a nearby eatery, Thumps UP. The waitress noticed my scrubs and inquired whether I had worked a long shift, presuming I was in the medical profession. I immediately informed her that I do not work in healthcare but instead in a child care facility. It had been a busy day; I had worked with eight lively one-year-olds. She then mentioned how difficult that could be and took my order. While I was enjoying lunch, the waitress returned and informed me that an anonymous diner had generously covered the cost of my entire meal. Apparently, this kind-hearted patron had overheard our conversation and wanted to express their appreciation for the tireless effort and patience required to wrangle a classroom of toddlers all day. I couldn't but feel a renewed sense of gratitude for having the opportunity to positively impact the lives of young children every single day. The waitress's empathy and the customer's thoughtful gesture provided a welcomed boost of encouragement to power through the remainder of my workday.And as always, the FOOD IS GREAT!! read more

Everything that you would want in a southern brunch. This place was worth the 20 minute wait. I just wish that they had more space and some outdoor seating That will probably come sooner than later because they are a corner lot. Fish and grits are a very generous portion. Sorry but I have to update my review. Previously I spoke about how great the service and food was at Thunbs up... I must recant that statement. My last two visits were pretty bad. The most recent visit, it took over 30 minutes to order our food. Then another 30 mins before the food came out. We ordered breakfast by the way. Our waitress, although nice, was horrible. Maybe she was new, but she definitely missed the mark on everything. There was a note on the door saying they were short staffed, however, they had plenty of workers to accommodate the amount of ppl in the restaurant. To top it off, we had to request our table to be cleaned.. the nail that sealed the coffin for me not returning was the 2 small roaches that approached our table liked they owned the place. I immediately stopped eating and asked for the check. This place has so much potential, but has opportunities that need to be addressed! read more

Roach infestation beware!!! Went on a very slow Wednesday afternoon and while waiting to order we discovered a live baby bug inside the menu. When alerting mgmt they said they had just had pest control out the day before so we sat and contemplated staying or not. While waiting and having water/coffee we saw big bugs in the corner where we sat!! I immediately jumped up telling the waitress we are leaving, firmly told her why and that she needed to go see the bugs in the corner. Quick and delicious! Much like the others, they keep the menu and specials simple and hearty. Since Dolly's closed due to fire a while ago, we've been missing a nice southern breakfast/brunch spot in the area. The restaurant is a bit small but it works. Today was my first visit but it won't be the last. I had the catfish and shrimp special. It came with eggs, grits and an amazing biscuit. Definitely enough for more than one sitting. I have been to East Point & Douglasville, E Point yrs ago was great and Douglasville not so great, the wait time for both was quick. Austell Ga location is the worst of them all, wait time on a weekday was 1 hour, she gave out juice 1 hr before food. The pancakes was hard and the eggs was dried. The place is small but cozy. Mostly breakfast items. With burgers and a few a la carte entrees and sides. Yukon omelet with smoked salmon was delicious and the heart shaped muffin came with a choice of jam. The grits with lots of cheese was perfect.
