This is our first time visiting the Thunder Cafe and we chose wisely. The restaurant was clean . Our server Edward was by far the best of any server we've ever had. He was knowledgeable about the menu and sold us on the Prime Rib. "Served Only after 2pm". We ordered 2 ,10oz & 1,16oz Prime Rib Steaks with Mixed Vegetables& Baked Potatoes. They never disappoint me when it comes to their cheesecake. I can't help but to come just get a whole and snack on for a week! That a bad thing but it's so good. Last time i got a whole cheesecake just to send a couple of family members home with some instead of purchasing individual slices. And the staff is always really nice at the bakery counter. read more

I eat here quite often as I live 10 min away. The servers make me feel like family as several remember my name. Most of them are excellent but I would say that Evonne and Edward stand out. For a cafe, the food is excellent as the menu offers a wide range of choices and prices are very good for what you're getting. Portions are large in size. My favorite would be the Salmon dinner. Their desserts are a tad sweet side so I never really never care for them. But their fruit tart doesn't taste so bad. I always love ordering their sandwiches. They really taste good. Not dry and it has full flavor with the soft but crunchy pickle on the side. I love how they provide so much fries on the side. Very generous amount. It can really get U full! It's not so dry and has right amount of crunch. Their customer service is interesting... either they are aggressive with checking on you while U are about to eat, while U are eating or you get a server who barely checks on U at all and U have to raise your hand and get their attention at times. It's kinda wierd. I wish they weren't like that and have some kind of middle ground. Because I like not getting bothered while I am about to enjoy my meal, so I can enjoy with my mouth full of food but I also don't want to be neglected if I do need any extra assistance. I honestly feel mix emotions when I eat there due to their attentiveness w/their customer service. I think their front entry area is also the same. Waiting for awhile to finally get their attention to get seated or waiting awhile for someone to notice there are people at the front who want to get seated. For the bakery/sandwich area where U order to go, it's pretty fair customer service. I give them a 4 out of 5 stars as well. My mom was going to come to TVC to celebrate what would have been her 58th wedding anniversary (dad passed away in 2017). I offered to tag along and "reminisce" alongside her. Started the visit off with our usual brunch meal at the cafe, service was awesome (as usual) and food consistently delicious. I ended up ordering a pie to go at the front because we have company tonight. I believe his name is Matthew (that's what printed on the receipt but I've never asked), this associate is always so wonderful and friendly. The last maybe half dozen times I've been here, we have struck up meaningful conversation and he has made great recommendations etc. Thanks to him and our servers for making today extra special for us. read more

We ordered the Thanksgiving dinner to-go from the café and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The pickup process was so easy--we were greeted by friendly staff who had everything packed and even loaded the food for us. The meal itself was outstanding. It came with a fully cooked, juicy turkey, delicious stuffing, creamy mashed potatoes, yams, carrots, gravy, cranberry sauce, fresh rolls, and two pies. We ordered the dinner for 10 people, and there was more than enough food for everyone. Every single dish was absolutely amazing. The stuffing was beyond!!! I highly recommend this for any gathering or holiday. We will definitely be using them this Christmas & for every holiday from now on! read more

Came to Thunder Valley for a slot tournament. We usually eat at Thunder Cafe because of the variety of choices. It is a little loud but what do you expect in the middle of a casino. The food is great every time. Our server today was Thomas. We have had him before and he really is the best! He is very attentive and friendly. Always have refills on hand and makes sure the food is great upon delivery! Now for what was ordered. I personally love the chicken used for the quesadilla or nachos. Today it was the quesadilla and some friend zucchini. Hubby had the egg noodle soup with chicken and shrimp. He said it was really good. If you are ever in Lincoln, stop by to play. First time trying out Thunder Cafe the prices are very reasonable compared to other restaurants that offer similar menus. It did not disappoint. From the ambiance and service, I couldn't be happier than all the attention they provided. The food was a 10/10 as an appetizer my partner and I ordered the fried Calamari. It was breaded to perfection, the taste was well balance and the sauce gave it an absolute more flavorful taste. For the main dish, I ordered the Turkey Club sandwich it was well balanced with enough turkey ham, the bacon was crispy to perfection, and the french fries were well seasoned and had a great flavor. For Dessert I had the Carrot cake it was moist and had a balance of sweetness. Overall my experience at Thunder Cafe was pleasant I can't wait to come back. read more

Ordered bbq tri tip sandwich and spaghetti to go around 1150 pm. Was told it was gonna be 15 min... my order took 30 minutes since they had to redo my spaghetti since they dropped the first one in the kitchen. I didn't mind the wait , what I did mind was when I got to my room to eat, wasn't that long of a walk from cafe to room, by spaghetti was soupy!! Not good! We have been coming to this Cafe for years. Lately the service has been VERY poor. The food is great, however there are always dirty tables waiting to be bussed, and we even asked the extra host helper if he could help, he was so lazy he actually sat down while he tossed the dirty plates in the busser tub. I'm not a huge fan of casino food spots as in general they lack good food and service can be spotty but it was 12:30 in the morning, I was already in my pjs when my husband said he was hungry. So I jumped on Yelp and started my search. Most places were already closed or closing soon. That leaves the options in the casino and I decided this was the best option. My husband and I were both pleasantly surprised. Went down and ordered the thunder omelet, chicken fried steak breakfast with biscuits and gravy. The staff was friendly and attentive. Restaurant was clean and bumppin. People seemed happy and enjoying their food. After ordering and paying I was told that my order would be ready in about 20 minutes. I walked around outside and people watched, coming back 20 minutes and my food was beautifully packaged and ready to go. I was offered a choice of several condiments including Tabasco! When I got to the room our food was piping hot and delicious. Chicken fried steak was crispy and juicy, eggs perfectly over easy and hash browns were okay, I asked for extra crispy but I think they couldn't hold up under the steak and eggs, still good. Omelette was so delicious and strong cheese pull. Country potatoes were nice but could have used something. I added some Tabasco and they were fine. Linda gave me plenty of Tabasco, butter and jelly which I appreciate. The portions were generous and we warmed the leftovers and ate it all up the next day. read more

The place is fairly big and my group of six waited around 20 minutes to get seated at around 11:15am! - Loaded Tots: This was definitely the highlight of the show (ask for ranch!!) You can tell they just came out the fryer because it was so crispy and crunchy! - Breakfast Burrito: My cousin and I both got the breakfast burrito and i'm sorry, it was so extremely dry! We both took a bite of our burrito, looked at eachother, and had to down some water after.. Even with sour cream and salsa on the side, it did not really help the dryness at all and it was pretty disappointing because we were so hungry.. We both only took 1 or 2 bites and couldn't even force ourselves to eat it anymore Our waiter was so sweet, she was very accommodating to our party even though we were a bit chaotic and hungover. Food is pretty good. I tried the taco salad which was a pretty big serving size. We ordered to go since it was going to take more than 45 min to be seated. You can order the same menu from dine in to go. Be aware they do not call you name out when your food is ready. Came at around 9am on a Wednesday, and sat immediately. The waitress was very sweet and recommended the CFS, had she not recommended it we would've just split the biscuits and gravy, thankfully she did. To start, we had so got some pastries, the only one I tried was an old fashioned donut, the glaze was very sweet and had a lemony taste, however genuinely a very high quality donut for it being in a cafe. The biscuits and gravy were amazing. The gravy has a different taste to it, almost a chicken...ish? undertone. It's hard to describe, I enjoyed it but it's not your traditional creamy biscuits and gravy. I believe it was thinner, but not exactly runny. The taste is unique but different from a traditional B&G. The biscuits themselves were very light and fluffy, melting in your mouth. The chicken fried steak was the best I've ever had. It beats out Texas Roadhouse (if they hold a good reputation with CFS). The CFS was perfectly tender, breaded incredibly and the gravy complimented perfectly with the seasoned steak. The potato's were incredible as well, and the eggs appeared more than over medium but upon actually cutting them up, they were over medium. Overall, a very nice cafe feel to the place. Nice lighting and amazing service. Not to mention, food came out in literally probably 5 minutes?? Maybe 10? We dropped by Thunder Valley for a quick bite and visit the other night and found it to be fairly busy even though it was kind of stormy outside. Nonetheless, staff were keeping the place clean and tidy, but the casino was pretty smoky! The days of hitting Harold's Club, CalNeva, Comstock, and Fitzgerald's expecting lots of smoke are long gone. I used to smoke and it surprises me how many folks still smoke with the prices of cigarettes as high as they are. Moving on to food... Since the buffet is no longer an option (they shut it down when COVID hit - BOOO!!!) we chose to eat dinner at Thunder Cafe. They took our name and told us it would be about 20 minutes. We walked to the gift shop, about 3-4 minutes away, and got the text that our table was ready; so we turned around and walked right back. We were seated right away and greeted by our server, Maria, immediately. Maria was quite attentive and quick to respond to requests. My wife ordered the Chinese Chicken Salad and I ordered Joe's Scramble. The salad looked amazing and I will just say it was enormous! My wife said she was very happy with her meal. The Joes Scramble was good, too, I certainly can't complain, but I kind of wish I ordered that salad. They offer some really tempting and good looking desserts, but after our meals there was no room! I love coming here because of the atmosphere. My favorite servers are always in a good mood and it keeps me and my company happy! I have been been a guest of the casino for years and these days, I have been coming to Thunder a Cafe to satisfy my cravings. I have changed it up a lot just to show you how delicious. I have gotten their breakfasts(my favorite), pizza, pasta, oatmeal and plenty more. When it comes to breakfast, they have been on point when it comes to cooking eggs. Between sunnyside up to my over meduim, they've been coming out perfect. Their peanut butter cookies from their display case is super soft and delicious. Fish & chips is so good, it comes with one big piece of cod and French fries. The firecracker shrimp is so good! The lasagna is very good! Patty is my favorite servers to sit with. She is great to talk and joke around with. If you sit with her, tell her I said hello! There only been one thing lately I didn't like. We ordered the oatmeal and when we were asked if we wanted strawberries or bananas on it, we said both... not knowing it would be $3.75 for each topping...(it was not even the whole banana). Instead of stopping and asking if we were being waited on he just walked by. Recognizing that this issue is being experienced by more than one formerly satisfied guests, this is a wake up for this call to change now. Now let's go ahead and proceed to the menu.. There are the normal entrees that you see on the menu. You would figure the cafe would have a larger fare on it. But it doesn't. The entrees we ordered left a bit to be desired. First time out here at the Thunder Cafe before a concert and overall happy with the service and meal. We first went to the steak house but they were fully booked. Odd, I couldn't find a reservation button anywhere. Must be for their high rollers. Okay, next bet was here at the Thunder Cafe. Short wait and ordered easily. Hubby saw the Reuben on the outside board but it wasn't on the paper menu. Told that there was a limited menu so what was outside was wrong. Ugh. I ordered the 10oz prime rib medium rare and he got the party melt medium rare. Order came quickly and was delivered by a gentleman in a chef's outfit. Cool. The prime rib was deliciously tender and the veggies were very fresh. Plenty of summer squash, creamed horseradish, whipped butter, and sour cream on the side. Can't beat the price of $24.99. Wish that I could have eaten more items from the menu because it looks great. If you are in the area, this is a spot to grab some affordable food that is prepared fresh and solid. I saw Reuben sandwich on the menu and got real excited.. I ordered the pastrami one and it's a tiny little sandwich cut in half. My mother in law decided she also wants a pastrami sandwich and hers was twice the size. I don't know the price difference just yet but thought I would give people the heads up. It works out that I'm on a diet and prefer smaller portions, but for almost $14 I would have loved it to be on the bigger portion so I can save for later of course lol. My sandwich was delicious nonetheless. My mother in laws pastrami sandwich was perfect! She got it with sourdough and the bread was perfectly toasted to her preference. The service was okay. Nothing spectacular. I ordered my sandwich with a side of fruits for my son and they brought out cole slaw, when I asked for the correct one they took the cole slaw lol I was kind of hoping they left it for my in laws to eat but iiiii guess. Cafe was a little busy but we did not have to wait long to get seated or have our order taken. Our waitress was nice and attentive. The food portion was just right. The prime rib crust was a bit salty for me but it was good. My favorite was the loaded baked potato. Turkey dinner was comforting. Possibly no absolutely the worst French dip sandwich we've ever had both of us. Advertise as prime rib but what came out were tiny little shards instead of slices of beef brownish black color almost crunchy like they were the scraps left over from all the cuttings of the roast over the last few days. If not comped would have sent it back but as is only ate a few bites. Yet all the other entrees I've served on other tables looked wonderful especially the beef stroganoff. So. There are these three ladies who secretly love Thunder Valley and everything that goes with it. From the cafe to the spa to the pool to bingo to the slots we absolutely have the best time at Thunder!! This last visit I indulged on some hot chocolate that hit the spot. Dear Thunder Cafe, PLEASE BRING BACK THE SALISBURY STEAK!!!! We had dinner last week because we were craving your tender, flavorful, mouth-watering, smack-yo-mama salisbury steak and gravy with mashed potatoes and seasoned veggies. We were more than disappointed and sad to find out it was replaced with some new entrees. Our server said he thinks you took it off because it required too much prep work or something. Have been in a few times over the past several months. Typical cafe food. Bummer that this is the only place to eat with more of a selection of foods since they dont have the buffet anymore. Came in last night with 6 in our party.. we ordered a burger cooke medium and a steak cooked medium rare. Both came out well done (like leather) server took them both back and replaced order. The burger came back one of the patty medium and the other side medium well (uneven cooking surfaces I would maybe guess?) and the sourdough bread it was on was completely soggy and soaked in grease... The steak.. you guessed it- STILL WELL DONE.. Not sure who trained the cooks there but they probably need to revisit the training methods.. Very disappointing. Needless to say I didn't get to ear a meal with my friends.. I get its a cafe and more of a "fast foodish" bar food type place but when its your only option for a late night sit down dinner, please try and make it semi edible.. read more
