Used their test socks (yes, they have test socks!) that match the ones they sell in the store so you can try them on with your shoes. Got useful feedback and recommendations for other brands of shoes that would be a good fit if I wanted to run longer distances. All in all, I left the store with some new socks (Balega silver), a foot roller (Nano X), and a brand new pair of shoes (ASIC Gel-DS Trainer 24) for under $200. He started the project on time (with a legitimate rain delay). A few days later, he came and installed the hoop. All in, the process took ten days. As far as the negative reviews about Mr Hoop go, in my opinion, there are always two sides to every story. We took the approach of being up front with our concerns, kept communication open, and achieved a positive result.

Also, they didn't have my husband's boot size when we went for rentals, and the ski poles they rented us are very short. (Husband is a size 13, so not the most common size, admittedly. And we are 5'9 and 6'3, so definitely need tall poles... but stillll....)
