There were several hard goods that were priced higher than they sell online. They had a pair of Vans shoes that sell online for $48, priced at $49. A glass clown from Mexico is priced at $39.49 though it sells for between $10-$30. While I understand a store needs to make money to stay in business, this is absolutely absurd and it will cause a loss of repeat shoppers. Please do better on your research and pricing.

As an experienced thrifter and reseller small towns are usually the best places to score vintage. I went in with high hopes of leaving with lots of goodies. I took my own bag but surprise, Maryland and Virginia Goodwill's do provide bags unlike Pa. Once inside I was greetly warmly by a lady probably in her mid 80's who was welcoming and rattled off the specials. This location was on the smaller size and had a room full of clothes, shoes, and a shelf of seasonal and just when I thought there was nothing else to see I discovered a room with everything else. This space felt unheated and was a little rough, like it was once a garage but it was full of housewares, electronics, linens, toys, and and small amount of furniture and bigger items. Along the walls were bags of misc and like items bundled together in bags. I've seen this done on thrifting videos but never live. Each bag was around $5 give or take depending on size. While the store was neat and organized this unheated space felt like an afterthought and wasn't as nice as the main store. Prices were alot higher than I'm used to in PA, but the quality was decent. I didn't see any damaged items. I also didn't see alot of the vintage I was expecting to find and walked out only with a goodie bag of crocheted doilys for $3.49 , taking a gamble that none were stained. Upon checking out I encountered the sweet older lady again, who was just as warm and friendly with her goodbye as she was her welcome. The world needs more people like her. SIDENOTE: I did not see a dressing room and other thrift stores in the area had theirs closed. Masks were also required.

They all know where to find anything. If they can, they walk with you to find what you need. Now, that to me is good service! I have even had them help carry paint to my car. They are a larger store than it appears outside, but not too large to give you that special hometown feel service. Some items may be a bit higher, but for the convenience, and to save on gas, I will say their prices are fair. They have greenhouses outside that I have purchased beautiful flowers from. They have an extremely large paint department where you can find any supplies you might need. They carry Benjamin Moore paint and will tint it with spot on accuracy. Craig, one of the owners, is a locksmith. Long before key fobs, I had to use his services. It was after hours, but he was there quickly. He charged a reasonable price, and worked quickly. The truck is painted nicely with the Ace logo, his shirt also id'd him as an Ace representative which I consider very professional. I have nothing but nice things to say about this store that I have utilized since I moved to Thurmont in the 80's. It has only gotten better!

The employees could not help with her phone, claimed the phone was broken. Could not explain how the phone would be broken and still work on wifi. They proceeded to tell me she needed a new phone. I told them to give me the info so I could figure out what the best plan was for my family. They continued pursuing the idea of selling us a new phone. I told them that I do not buy phones, the only phones I get are the free promo phones. We don't do fancy or expensive in my house. They continued anyway. The boy "helping" us brought out a fancy new phone and gave it to my daughter. There was still no discussion of cost. He said there was a line upgrade for my number & we could use that for her new phone. Again, he did not discuss the possibility of this raising my monthly bill, or any costs with this at all. He downloaded an app & transferred her data to the new phone. Again without discussing of costs. On the invoice I saw he charged $50 to do this. This is absolutely ridiculous. We went home with this new phone. I was led to believe what I paid in the shop was the total costs, this was completely fictional. And the phone did not work after getting home with it. It had been flagged for fraud. Another employee fixed that issue the following day. Again no discussing of the costs of this phone. I checked my Verizon app and my estimated bill was now nearly doubled!!!!!! This is completely unacceptable. Verizon is saying this store is an authorized dealer, but not a Verizon store. They have no control or say over what this store does. BEWARE!!!!!!!!! The practices of this store fell more than unethical, it feels criminal to me.

Even though my situation was unique (child account deleted from family plan and not able to carry over to new phone), although he worked for a phone company for over 17 years, he has never seen this kind of scenario. It merely took him 10 minutes to resolve the situation, restore the account, and move the data to the new phone. His diligence and willingness to assist me shouldn't go unnoticed and I appreciate everything he did to not only resolve, but took the avenues needed to fix my problem instead of transferring me or telling me to call Google as the 1-800 assistant tried to pass the call. The fact that they run sales on items that are already discounted makes me come back and the quality of the good so you are inspected before being put on the floor so you don't have to wonder if it works or not. They showed up after having worked 10 hours already and were exhausted. I later found out this is how he runs his business which is unethical and just straight wrong for both his employees and people he promises service to. Unfortunately, after a 6 hour move, mostly done by myself and my friends that I had to panically call for help the move from hell was finished -- it was a 5 mile move. I guess you get what you pay for -- I feel for the two gentleman on his team who moved us after a 10 hour day.
