Went here since I was ordering sugar cane next door. This is a very typical Vietnamese hot foods to go shop. They have a few selections for hot foods, banh mi, desserts, snacks, and a few entrees. Parking is in a plaza and can get full when it's busy. I went in here to look at the options and some of the food looks good. Looks like good home comfort cooking. I would normally order banh mi, but had just ate at another place so opted for egg rolls, which the nice cashier lady fried fresh for us. It was decent. After I asked for recommendations for places which make egg rolls, she sent me a picture of the business card for Thuy Nhi Coffee & Sandwich. Thus began our trip to Fountain Valley to buy what we knew would be excellent. As usual, we trusted her taste. Vegetarian egg rolls: 5 stars. A big hit with me, my husband and my in-laws. Fresh, crunchy, and tasty. Pork dumplings: 5 stars. I am not sure how to describe them but they are kind of like soup dumplings with pork and pâté, not XLB. Savory. If you want Báhn Mì, I did not buy one, but when I was watching my husband's pork Báhn Mì being assembled, it was larger with more pork than the restaurants in our area include in their sandwiches. I often come here for egg rolls and steam rice rolls. The egg rolls are very tasty and the rice rolls are freshly made daily. They sell rice rolls by the pound and also give you bean sprouts and sauce. Come in the morning for best selections. If you come in the afternoon not much left since they do not make more food to sell in the afternoon. I tried their sandwiches and other food items as well and they all tasted good. Parking is okay. This has been a favorite place for me to stop by in the morning to grab breakfast - and usually, something for lunch as well. There's always a friendly older Vietnamese woman that greets me cheerfully when I walk in at barely the crack of dawn. Despite my limited grasp of the language, she is still able to understand what I'm looking for. For breakfast, I'll pick up one of their Vietnamese iced coffees ($3.25), and a side order of two spring rolls ($2.50). There are several types of spring rolls you can get - nem nuong, bo bia (summer roll), and my favorite - the red pork meat with shrimp. For lunch, I'll grab a prepackaged container of Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio (Vietnamese vermicelli noodles with marinated, grilled pork - a light, but filling dish with a side salad and a flavorful container of fish sauce. They have an entire section of premade food to go - with at least three types of canh (soup) at any given time. I'll have to stop by and check this place out on my off day. Parking is never an issue at the time I go - which is practically when this is the only business open in the morning. I think they take card - but there's a minimum, I believe. The prices are reasonable, service is efficient. Overall, a favorite stop considering how much I save getting coffee, breakfast and lunch here - vs. just coffee and breakfast at say, Starbucks. read more

A friend of mine recommended this fast food deli so I finally came. I was impressed w the many simple Vietnamese fare for reasonable prices. I bought 2 soups, bitter melon my husband liked n shrimp sour soup. This soup was so so but at $2 there was no complaint. The stewed fish was too salty n too sweet at the same time. The grilled shrimp $1 each was good, so was the stuffed pepper. I like the pâté chaud, $1.50 for 2, it was very good. If I consider how reasonable everything is and the taste is ok, this can be 3.5 stars upgraded to 4 but everything is much too hot n salty n sweet killing the underlying taste. In this environment of a pandemic, every other person I know over 40 has diabetes! and every VN restaurant food add tons of sugar in their food, I don't get it, in VN n Paris the food is never sweet. I wasn't going to leave a review until after I had asked my mom to stop by their store(since mom lives closer to them than I do) to either get a new order or refund. I live 20 minutes away from this place. I got up early and picked up food Togo to leave at home for my mom to feed the kids when I leave for work. (Keep in mind, my mom doesn't live with us, she was coming over to babysit the kids for me). When I got home, I was getting ready to feed our baby some rice with some small pieces of this pork meat... until I saw a couple of dead ants on the rice(from the sauce), meat, AND inside the Togo cup of food. I immediately threw away the bowl I had prepped for our 1year old baby and called the store. The lady told me to go ahead and come back in and she'll give me a new one. So I called my mom and asked if she could stop by there before heading to our house. I sent my mom pictures so she could show the employees. When my mom got there, the lady gave my mom a hard time AND asked for the food back! Wtheck?! She made the assumptions that we were lying and gave my mom a hard time and told my mom she needed to bring the food back later this afternoon. It's freaking $5.50. Their bánh mì thịt nguội is flavorful, meat doesn't feel overly processed and tastes fresh- the bread is perfectly crisp, airy, and chewy (with a soft hint of butter). Love their spring rolls and their sandwiches, but the language barrier is something else. They speak ZERO English which is super frustrating. Even when you try to work with them and show pictures.. it's always a Viet response follows by a nod or a shake of the head. Found out about this spot through a recommendation from a friend when trying to decide what to bring for a work potluck awhile back. I work with predominantly non asians, so being the 1% Asian in the company, I was always asked "hey Q, bring us some eggrolls one day" Sure enough, when a potluck came up. I wanted to step up the eggroll game and bring some legit eggrolls. Once the party tray was delivered, the eggroll party tray legend was born! These eggrolls soon became a popular items for every potluck. Everyone was hooked! Just got a house special sandwich from this shop 6/27/23 because it was next door to the Mia Juicey place where I go for sugarcane juice..the sandwich shop is run down very bad customer service lady she mixed the pate and mayonnaise together without my knowledge I thought she just added the pate. I love the baguettes, banh uot, pate, and cafe sua da here. There are usually 2 women working the front- cashier and making food, taking care of customers. The older lady is really rude, I don't like dealing with her. She's always so grumpy looking and speaks very harshly to customers. The younger lady is very sweet and nice! Always smiling and happy to help. There's also a young guy with tattoos all over his arms- super nice dude who likes to converse with customers. Driving around Westminster and Garden Grove, you'll see some small Vietnamese takeout places, usually with "Food to Go" in the name of the business. (Until recently, this business was named Thuy's Food to Go but I noticed the recent change in the signage.) "Food to go" places typically serve authentic Vietnamese homecooking style dishes for take out. Often, there is no seating or perhaps just a couple of tables for a very quick meal. Everything is packed in styrofoam. These businesses typically open ridiculously early, sometimes as early 5 or 6am so that people going to work can pick up their lunch for the day. The selection and freshness is best early in the morning or early during the lunch rush. Most of these places get the majority of their business by early afternoon. During late afternoon and evening hours, the selection is much more limited. Thuy Nhi is my favorite "food to go" place. A two item combo with a cup of soup runs $6.75, tax included. Think of it as a similar setup as Panda Express but you won't find beef broccoli or orange chicken. Some of the entrée dishes are simple homey dishes like bell peppers stuffed with pork or a simple omelet. A couple of my favorites are the pork riblets, pork meatball thing, and bone-in chicken in ginger sauce. You probably won't even find some of these homey dishes in sit down Vietnamese restaurants, even though they are common Vietnamese dishes. They typically have about a dozen different meat and seafood dishes and 4 soup choices. Although I'm Vietnamese, I don't know if some of these dishes have proper names even and I do a lot of pointing. Coworkers and I pick up lunch here and then drive down the street to eat at the picnic tables at Mile Square Park. As some other reviewers mentioned, if you come during "off" hours or dinner hours, the selection won't be as fresh. I've been here numerous times and it was ALWAYS during lunch hours. At Thuy Nhi, on Saturdays, if you order a minimum of $10, you'll also get a choice of either a free baguette or Vietnamese Iced Coffee (normally $2.75)! read more

Employees are very horrible with their services, they asked customers to go somewhere else to buy food 'cause they don't have time to take order over the phone. Customers want to order more and they just hung up within a second. They wanted to get rid of customers so bad of every single time when we called in to order. We're in the neighborhood and we try to support local businesses but this place lost us for good. They said the owner won't ever be there, so they don't care if anyone complained. "Hm, i wonder is this place any good?" the lady inside smiled at me, so i thought, "what the heck why not?"
