Came here because of the 5 stars reviews and I have to say, David (Diep) lived up to the rating. It's so hard to find a stylist who can cut now a days and also understand how to cut different hair. I have very thin hair so by layering it too much would make it even more thin. Instead David gave me two level layer and cut off all my damaged hair. I am however going to take 1 star away because of the blade he used to layer my hair it made part of my hair more damaged. As for my husband, he kept my his existing style and gave it more life. Okay, Honestly this place get a lot of crap, from what I understand because they mess up your hair. And while I can completely understand that and being pissed about it, you should note that the management takes your criticism into account and takes care of less-than-desirable employees. That being said, I personally enjoy this place, not for the ambiance of vietnamese music/television playing (I mean come on, the demographic for this place is catered to the locals) but for the consistency and quality of my cuts given the price. Now mind you, and here's my two cents, ONLY GET YOUR HAIRCUT FROM DAVID. (Diep if you want to use his Vietnamese name). He's the owner of the salon and he consistency understands (speaks english) and does exactly what I tell him, and offers his own advice if my demands are too farfetched. This place is good, the problem is that his employees are almost fresh out of cosmetology school, so the chances of any of them, being any good are kinda low. This place is great and the value & quality of service is exceptional. I use to go to supercuts but my friend (very cute female) brought me here. I use to get a men's haircut for ~$25 (shampoo wash & tip included) at supercuts. What I like about this place is that the shampoo is included in the haircut price. $8 for men's haircut. I thinks its only $20 something for females. Anyways, the shampoo and conditioner wash was good she did this scalp massage thing that was way better than what i was getting before. David was my stylist and what i liked about him was he took his time and was very meticulous. I showed him a picture, he studies it for a moment and asked how I would like my own version of it. He's so focused when he cuts your hair that you don't even want to bother him (Time also meant nothing to him as long as you were happy and he created another masterpiece). Like poetry in motion. The process is like showing a picture, getting the haircut, washing hair, drying hair, and gelling it up. Although this salon may not be as fancy as other salons, the owner treats you like family. Before I have always experienced a hair cut where I end up hating and wishing my hair would grow a lot faster, but not here. He takes his time and makes sure you like it. I like the way he cuts my bangs which is a two thumbs up for me :) Even my son, boyfriend, and two brothers go here for their hair cuts. Diep was the hairstylist that did my haircut today. I asked for a trim. I got at least 3 inches off. I already have thin hair but he keeps thinning it out even more.. he thinned it out by snipping long and short chunks. It made me really really nervous seeing the chunks. Great experience with great people. Helped me avoid a hair disaster and the coloring is great. My hair was still soft afterwards unlike many places I've been to. UPDATE: This is my go to hair salon now. No matter where else I might go, I always end up back here. Today I got bangs for the first time and showed her a picture. She took one glance and knew exactly what to do. The result is great. I was scared to try anything too extreme so she did minimum for bangs and said if I wanted to cut it even more, then come in next time, but allow myself to adjust to bangs first. I am David's customer for 2 years and never regret my choice. If you are a chill person and don't mind if this salon is not as fancy as others, you should go here to meet David and feel like he treats you like his family. He also sells some professional hair products that you cannot find elsewhere. The wait time is not so bad if you walk in and I don't think reservation is mainly required. You can also have your nails done with his wife, but not with spa chair, the nail station is very Vietnamese traditional. Besides, the price is very reasonable for college students compared to its excellent service. I am highly recommended this place for you and your family members.
