I stumbled into this spot basically at closing time (sorry, y'all ), and instead of making me feel like that person, they greeted me like I was the guest of honor. My waitress recommended my meal, and OH. MY. GOODNESS. Absolutely incredible. Then the owner came over to say hello and turned out to be an absolute TREASURE of a human. We ended up talking throughout my entire meal, and even though I was the only person in the restaurant because it was so late, somehow that made the whole experience even more special. Amazing food. Amazing service. Amazing people. The kind of place that reminds you why supporting local businesses matters. Seriously, if you're anywhere near Swedesboro, GO HERE. We happened on to this charming Greek restaurant one Sunday afternoon. My only regret is I didn't have a bigger appetite to try more of this fantastic menu. The service was spot on, attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere was lovely, with Greek music playing softly in the background. As to the food, it was fresh, delicious and perfectly prepared. The mezze platter was generous (as were all dishes), the zucchini chips were super thin and perfectly fried and the lamb special (it was Orthodox Easter) was so tender and flavorful - amazing. The owner, Cleo, is charming and checks on every table. They have wine available but you can BYO for a very modest corkage fee. We had another great dinner at Thymari tonight! The menu items are all great, but we went for 2 specials. Shrimp and crabmeat over linguini for my wife, and a pork schnitzel with mushrooms and mashed potatoes for me. Fantastic! The restaurant is BYOB, and we have been there a number of times and haven't been even slightly disappointed with anything we ordered. Service is also great. I can't recommend it enough! read more

I am giving this establishment 3 out of 5 stars based on my overall experience. The food was flavorful and prepared well, but it did not leave a lasting impression. While enjoyable, it felt comparable to meals that could be prepared at home, and I was hoping for something more distinctive or memorable. The service was satisfactory. Staff were acceptable in their performance, though the experience did not particularly stand out as exceptional. The ambience was visually pleasant; however, the seating arrangement felt too close together for my personal comfort. I prefer dining environments with more open space, and during my visit it felt as though the tables were placed very near one another, which slightly affected my overall comfort level. I was very excited to try this Greek restaurant, what a terrible disappointment. The spanakopita has a pie crust, nothing flaky not a piece of phyllo dough in sight. A wonderful Mediterranean restaurant in the quaint downtown of Swedesboro. The decor is fresh, calming, and welcoming. There is a certain energy with the place, making it fun to bring friends and family for exceptional food. The owners are outgoing and friendly, there to welcome and converse with the guests. Our server was also very friendly. The grilled octopus had good flavor with the nice taste of char in every bite. The calamari was tasty, lightly breaded, and not chewy. They make fried zucchini ribbons that are to die for! They almost taste like potato chip ribbons. Everything was a favorite. All the entrees had an eye-opening presentation. The gnocchi's were light and pillowy soft, not dense and heavy. The souvlaki (chicken skewers) were moist and tender. The Bronzino was a show-stopper also. Prepared perfectly, light, flaky, moist, flavorful. And no bones to pick out (don't ask me how.) As if the app's and entrees were enough to bring a smile to your face, wait for the dessert. From the menu, my fav was the Ekmek Kataifi. The shredded phyllo nicely complements the creaminess of the custard & cream. Off menu is the Mille-feuille. It is flaky buttery layers of phyllo with oh-so tasty creamy custard in-between, covered with powdered sugar and shaved almonds. What is there not to like? We had a great experience. My 3rd visit in a week. Thymari is that special place that doesn't come along that often. Great food and great service. This time I tried the moussaka. The eggplant and potatoes are sliced paper thin with perfectly seasoned meat and a creamy bechamel sauce. My son had the pancetta which is not the Italian meat but more of a thick cut sliced pork. It came with warm pita, sliced onion and tomatoes and an incredible tsatziki sauce. Honestly, I could eat the tsatziki and the tirokafteri every day! Make sure you try them as an appetizer. We ordered them as take out and brought them to a game night. Everyone raved about them. The service cannot be beat. The waitstaff is as attentive and kind as they are knowledgeable. 2nd visit and just as impressed. Excellent service. I saw the moussaka on Instagram and had to try it. It did not disappoint. Definitely one of my all time favorite dishes! This is hands down one of the top five restaurants in Gloucester County. This is our third time dining here, and I would eat here weekly if I could. Here's what we have eaten so far: appetizers: Greek keftedes, Halloumi cheese, Tiropitakia. Loved them all, but the tiropitakia is fantastic. The Halloumi is a squeaky cheese, perfectly grilled and smoky, just amazing. For entrees I had moussaka, twice, because it is seriously that good, and Smyrnaiko. The star of the dish for the latter is the tomato sauce, which is incredibly layered with flavor. The meatballs are great, too, and my husband went crazy over the rice. Husband has had the pork souvlaki, the pappardelle ragu, and the shrimp orzo. All: wonderful! Desserts are also incredible. Favorites are portokalopita and kormos. The are truly unique - you can get anything like them, anywhere. Thymari hits all the good points. Modern, attractive decor. But about 3 weeks ago I went to the thymari side with 2 adult friends as soon as I walked in Maria who I personally think is a sweetheart was a little busy but when she heard I was there came over and talked about Greece and the resteraunt I had been there solo once before and I had a greek burger for lunch. Went there with two friends for Wednesday night dinner. Easy to find street parking. Very nicely set up restaurant. Food was fabulous. I ordered the branzino, my friends ordered the shrimp/orzo dish and Smyrniko. We also ordered the Mezze sampler. Everything was really great. Branzino was done just right. Serving size was so big that I had more than enough for another dinner next day. The owner came and spoke to us and we learned that she was related to the founders of local legendary Pat's Pizzeria.
