I had the eggs benedict. Hands down the BEST I've ever had. They make the hollandaise sauce daily. It's perfectly creamy and full of flavor. The eggs were the right amount of runny on the inside. Perfectly toasted English muffin with a nice chunk of ham toped with the egg and drizzled with the hollandaise. Served with their country potatoes. Crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, seasoned little cubes of potatoes. I don't usually order orange juice but I did today. Why? Menu said fresh squeezed. Off the hook!!! I had to control myself from drinking down the whole glass right away! I can't wait until we're in the area again so we can eat here!!! Had an excellent breakfast here this morning. I had not eaten here for a number of years, as a few prior visits were disappointing. This time the food we were served was delicious. It was fresh, perfectly prepared, and flavorful. The fruit that was served with my omelette was extremely fresh and offered nice variety. The "Eggs Benedict" of choice my dining companion ordered was "excellent". I'd had friends who live locally tell me I needed to visit this restaurant next time I visited. As a local on the Monterey Peninsula and a resident of the City of Marina, Tito's is available to me at all times. Lucky me, for I have found this small cafe to be phenomenal in its offerings as well as the ambiance and the service rendered by the owner and her limited employees. When I have driven to this venue, I've done it primarily on a Sunday to imbibe in the short stack or 3 hot cakes along with sausage and a glass of 2% milk. Oh, what a mighty and filling meal this has brought me, Recently, for lunch, I've ordered the BLT sandwich which comes with a massive salad of a variety of gorgeous and very fresh and flavorful greens accompanied by a light dressing. More than anything, my sister and I were so appreciative of their service. We came in at 3:10 by accident not aware of their after breakfast break from 3-5 to prep for dinner. They served us eagerly and ensured that our presence was encouraged! Not to mention the FOOD!!!! Literally... This place is an absolute gem! This tiny family owned place only has like nine tables, is clean, & is very simple. Everyone had smiles and the place was warm and inviting. My husband had the steak and eggs. This came with home fries and sourdough toast. I had the eggs Benedict with avocado. Absolutely delicious! My eggs and Hollandaise were superb! Ticos was a go-to brunch favorite of mine 10 years ago, and having just moved back to the area, I checked it out again this weekend. Yep, still fantastic. I shy away from sweet brunch items, but I can vouch that the omelets and Bennies are outstanding. My wife got French toast and fruit and also thought it was outstanding. Also the chili pepper sauce is just excellent. I bought the last bottle they had on display for the weekend, and it's just so good. They have moved all of their tables and chairs out into the parking lot under a tent, so "dine-in" still exists, but outside. Carry-out is also a solid option. read more

Best place to stop for some breakfast if your wallet is feeling a bit fat. The restaurant's interior needs a desperate renovation. Customer service is great. Food is a bit pricey but its good and fresh. Nothing's microwaved that I can tell. I like their version of the big breakfast but I don't dig their butter. Either its too fancy or too handmade for my taste. Sausage is better at Mcdonalds (sorry, not sorry). Pancakes are extremely fluffy and delicious. So are the eggs. The food was cooked to perfection, and the only tiny little mistake was that one of my eggs was broken and cooked a bit over. Honestly, not even a big deal in the scheme of things since the food itself made up for it nicely. I also have to commend them on the bacon. I'm an avid bacon lover. Any place that serves bacon, I go for it. I didn't even have to ask for crispy (yet not overcooked) bacon, and they totally delivered. The pancakes, while I would say are just your typically basic pancakes, were yummy and a nice addition to an already good meal. If you are traveling through Marina from any of the bigger cities then the local no-frills mom and pop restaurant "ambience" might throw you off but don't be fooled, there is some seriously delicious food in Marina made fresh by really great people. We tried out Tico's for lunch after seeing good reviews here on Yelp. When we first walked in we thought we were in the wrong place but the food and the service proved to be better than meets the eye. I had the classic Eggs Benedict which was on par with any fancy overpriced city restaurant. They make their Hollandaise sauce fresh daily and I could literally have licked the plate clean it was so good. My husband got the the French toast made with big slices of sourdough bread and served with a generous side of delicious sweet fruit. Again, you could lick the plate clean it was that good. The only thing lacking was the bacon. Crispy but probably made this morning and kept warm so it was a bit dry and hard. They could do a nice thick cut of bacon that would have set the meal over the edge but hey, we could barely finish our food as it was with how generous the portion sizes were! Yup, I squeezed a visit to Tico's in. This place is still by far my favorite breakfast joint, mainly because of their specials. The chef here really does not do typical breakfast foods. Great, traditional breakfast and lunch items (eggs benedict are the best in Monterey County: fresh hollandaise made daily, french toast, awesome omelettes, and GREAT HOME FRIES, and the burger is bomb). They also serve a great variety of fresh and innovative specials. Super small but there is usually space. A few good friend of mine are huge fans of Ticos. During a weekend staying with them they coaxed me into trying a proper Ticos breakfast. While they forgot regarding a request to the meal (no onions) the chicken breast I ordered was HUGE. I mean wonderfully awesomely gigantic! It had me happy for hours! This, while the bacon wasn't freshly cooked and the avocado wasn't ripe made up for the small things in spades. The friendly and homey service was also pretty fantastic in itself. Took the girlfriend here last weekend for breakfast. I almost forgot about this little hole-in-the-wall, family run restaurant. When we arrived, most tables were occupied. I ordered the Mexican Omelet and substituted the potatoes and toast for a salad since I'm distancing myself from carbs right now. The salad had a good vinaigrette dressing and delicious candied walnuts. The omelet was good and had a great amount of provolone cheese. I love that they use The Pepper Plant hot sauce that is locally produced. My girlfriend enjoyed her meal and especially loved their hot chocolate. They refilled it for her without her having to ask :-) Overall Thoughts: A solid place to have a really good breakfast. If you're headed to the Monterey area this small, local restaurant comes highly recommended by my husband and I (Marina residents). Tico's, offering indoor, outdoor, and outside tent dining, is open for breakfast and lunch, also dinner on Friday and Saturday. We love brunch places. But who doesn't, right? Tico's is just out of the way, coming up from Monterey. Easy to find and ample parking. First thing that comes to mind is that the service is very friendly but extremely SLOW! OMG, I had three cups of coffee and two glasses of water while waiting for huevos rancheros. "It will be here soon, honey..." turned into "I don't know, dear. Why don't we ask them..." Good thing we weren't in a hurry. All said and done, it was about 35 minutes to make the food. The kitchen looks a little small, to be fair. The huevos were really good, btw. I also tried most of my daughter's scrambled eggs which were eggcellent. Extra care was taken to make sure i didn't have any allergies, my server double checked to confirm my order, and communicated with me so i knew what was coming and when. Wow. Onto the FOOD: the 1/2 order of french toast was stingy (i got the thin end pieces of the loaf). So, if you're craving french toast just pay for the full order. BUT!!! the "warm" spinach salad was SO flavorful. This is a dish to have if you don't like eating your veggies but want to eat healthily. There is an option to add chicken or salmon.
