We have returned after more than a year of not coming back to Monterey due to Covid. This little coffee place is still our must have to get my iced coffee fill and to get some ground coffee to brew back at home. We left with a couple of bags and we are still working on them, they are still better than Starbucks. They were only opened until noon when we were there over Halloween weekend. I love that this place is walking distance from our hotel (the Intercontinental on Cannery Row). I got what I think was a white chocolate macadamia cookie, but it was the best cookie I've ever had and I was sad that I got the very last one that day, because I would have taken all of them back with me. They are so good about Covid and only allow a few in the store at a time. This is always our must have every time we are in Monterey. read more

Great location and great coffee! What more could you ask for! Had to make a coffee stop before heading over to Pebble Beach Golf Links and this was the perfect spot! Drinks : We got mocha latte and chai tea latte. Both definitely satisfied the taste buds. Food: Got their breakfast burrito and steel oats. The burrito was ginormous so I recommend just getting one and sharing unless you're incredibly hangry then by all means, go to town! The steel oats was simple but really tasty as well. I love that it's a located on the water so there's a great view while enjoying your coffee. Parking is free at the meters before 9AM on weekends. We came super early so there were plenty of parking. Great coffee spot in the perfect location!!! Grabbed some shots to go and relaxed by the patio area which also has nice views of the beach. The line was a bit long in the morning but it went fairly quickly. The only thing I'd say was that they didn't offer small straws. I am a big fan of this coffee shop. I really wish COVID19 was over so I could actually sip my coffee inside this beautiful cafe. I love the interior decor and the friendly service. They sell food items other than coffee but the most important item to try is their almond croissant. These croissants are massive with this snow-like cap of powdered sugar all over and a thick rich almond paste inside. It's one of the best almond croissants I have ever had. Top 2 for sure. You can't go wrong with this pastry and an espresso. If you're visiting Monterey or Carmel, please pay a visit to Tidal Coffee! I am definitely coming back again! read more

Coffee was pretty disappointing - not strong nor tasty. The food looked interesting. There were many options, ranging from breakfast burritos to "fresh" baked pastries. Something seemed off about it all, and after reading other reviews I'm thankful I didn't get any food. The service was decent though. I thought the lady who took our order was friendly and helpful. The place itself was clean and had lots of seating. The overall location of it is nice because you can grab a coffee and go walking around Cannery Row with your coffee in hand. First time here and the staff was friendly. Definitely would come here for the service. As for the drinks, I was a bit confused with their menu, not knowing the flavors they had cause it wasn't on the board but it was on the counter by the cashier. I would hope it would be posted somewhere else, that way the flow of customers would be a little easier knowing we'd know what to order before we get to the cashier. So I decided to take some photos and post it here in hopes to help future customers. We ordered mocha latte - not too strong, it was good. Just thought it would be hotter. Was a little warm verse hot. But I'd recommend this one. Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte - the pumpkin spice could be better. Cant really taste much latte. Iced Hazelnut Latte - this one was really good. I'd recommend getting this one again. White chocolate macadamia cookie - a little dry but flavor is good. We decided to give this place a try because we thought it was just a local shop and we just go to Starbucks too much. Ordered a nitro cold brew for the hubs and wished we would've just gone to Starbucks. The taste of the drink was off. It felt more watered down than coffee. Also ordered a sandwich but when I got the item it was a panini. When I go to the counter and asked the staff proceed to say they only have paninis. Umm your menu says sandwich $8.50 and paninis $8.50. And I'm pretty this panini is no sandwich. read more

For no apparent reason, they were not serving the usual steel-cut oatmeal and were instead bringing over oatmeal from the Schooners restaurant next door. The problem is that Schooners makes their oatmeal with coconut milk and that adds quite a strong flavor (and lots of unnecessary calories and fat!). To my taste, the flavor was unbearable and I couldn't eat it. I would have gone somewhere else had I known about this issue but I had already ordered a coffee and settled in with my laptop so I was stuck. The staff tried to make an instant oatmeal cup for me but they did not understand adding water to the fill line -- there was far too much water and I was left with this terrible watery instant oatmeal. The incompetence was frustrating. If you enjoy healthy oatmeal for breakfast, go elsewhere. The Kona coffee blend was great quality coffee though. Very satisfied with the drink. read more

The coffee was very good. The food on the other hand, not so much. They advertise steel cut oatmeal. What we got was oatmeal in a heavy coconut cream that was very soupy and very high fat. Not what we expected from steel cut oatmeal. We all had heart burn later that morning from this breakfast. If you want a good, healthy low fat breakfast, this is not the place to go. Tidal has a lot of good things going for it, but I left feeling pretty dissatisfied. So what's good? The service was wonderful. The person that rang me up was very pleasant & seemed to know the menu well. My latte came out within a couple of minutes, which is always appreciate. The atmosphere was really nice! The inside was really well done and had a sleek & beachy, relaxed vibe. The outside has a great view of the water with a lot of space and some tables. So what's not so good? The food - I got the tuna wrap. It was just not good. The tortilla was wet and gummy, and the flavor of the tuna salad was lacking. I threw it away after just two bites. Sad, I know. There wasn't much of a food selection otherwise; some hummus, some pastries, and a couple of sandwiches. The inside dining area had a few dirty tables and the trash was overflowing. I got the chai tea latte with oat milk and the only gripe I had with it was that it was less sweet than I thought and more spice which was a more off putting combo. The GOOD: coffee and espresso beverages are good. The food is pretty good, too (think better quality than Starbucks). The BAD: 1) The morning staff did not open on time on one occasion. On every visit, the morning staff seemed disorganized and the woman that served us was rude and angry. There is inconsistency with the staff. 2) The morning staff did not mark our cups, therefore we could not identify the drinks. 3) receipts are not itemized so you can't see or prove what exactly your paid for. 4) Lids do not stay on the cups do not stay on the cups. Hot coffee spilled all over one of us. Someone is bound to receive 3rd degree burns (and Tidal a lawsuit). The coffee is good. The "bad" points can all be fixed -- and should! read more

Beautiful interior with great coffee and an assortment of pastries/dining options. The reason I love the coffee here is because it doesn't have a high acid content so it isn't as bitter as other places, in my experience. When we visit the area we often like to stop here for some coffee and food. It's right next to a small outlook area with a view of the water so it's great. For food, I would recommend the almond croissant and the soups. I would not recommend the spinach goat cheese wrap - makes me feel like a cow eating grass with the amount of greens inside! - Almond croissant: Delicious. One of my favorite almond croissants - a generous amount of almond paste inside, and entirely covered with toasted almonds on the outside. - Beef Barley and Clam Chowder soup: I believe their soups change daily. The beef soup was rich in flavor and the clam chowder was nice and creamy! - Spinach and Goat Cheese wrap: Has quinoa and goat cheese, but the majority of the filling is spinach. It definitely tastes healthy! But I do wish there was more quinoa or more cheese to replace the insane amount of spinach inside. read more

This is a sophisticated and elegant coffee spot with an impeccable location. Parking is street only which just means there is no parking, but there a for pay surface lot about a block away, and the hotel next door also has some complicated valet garage stuff if that sortv of thing works for you, otherwise you are within walking distance of the presidio, cannery row, and fishermans wharf. Inside it's on the smaller side of things. Lots of wooden bench/table combos that offer decent people watching options. The decor is heavy on natural lighting, wood and overall sort of euro nautical feel. There may be lines at times but it's still worth your time, and the outside plaza offers pleasing ocean views and a fountain. Great ambiance. The pastry and light food counter is awesome. That thing they do with the egg baked into a whole grain muffin is amazing. There is a very tempting range of macaroons, and they have breakfast burritos because of course they do. While the specialty coffee stuff-latte's, cappuchino's et al take the most time to come out, you'll be glad they took such care with your drink. Overall the quality is better then starbucks even if it is a bit cheaper. This is an excellent charming modern relaxed coffee choice that is very much worth the time even if it is operated by the hotel next door. read more

We were here around 3pm on a Saturday, and there was no line at all. There are lots of snacks and pastries available and your standard coffee concoctions. My husband's iced latte was fine - hard to mess up, certainly, but did the trick. But definitely come for a seat with a view! The cafe looks nice. Outdoor seating has amazing views. My coffee was strong. However, pre-packaged food such as salads and sandwiches is expensive and not impressive. The customer before me returned his panini because it had mold on it. Neither our salad not tuna wrap had an expiration date on it. I had a mocha with almond milk with a gluten free orange spice muffin. It was all delicious and my favorite part was being able to enjoy my treats outside while watching the ocean waves. Found this coffee shop on the walk down to Cannery Row. Had to stop....it was definitely time for some coffee. On the inside the environment was bright and open. The baristas at the counter were friendly, but not overly knowledgeable about their assortment of coffees to be honest. As an out-of-towner, I asked if the coffee they served was a local brand.....they were unsure. I ordered a drip coffee and we sat at one of the outdoor tables to enjoy. The coffee was above average, but nothing stand-out in my opinion. There are certainly many coffee shops that deliver and this one is fine among them.
