Five Stars all day!!! Just for the service alone!!! At first when you walk up to Tidal you're given this spectacular view of the ocean and.. yes there's seating out there for you to take it all in. You approach the big glass door and here is where the magic happens.. you're greeted not only by the amazing staff of ladies but also by the decor. Modern/sheik and rustic all at the same time! Perfect for Monterey!!! They have one of the best Espresso Machines in the coffee making business so if you're a coffee lover you need to come down!!! Yes I'm using a lot of "exclamation points" but it's because I'm SUPER EXCITED to be doing this review from after leaving here. I'm not from town and I didn't know what to expect. Here's the RunDown... Half the time small coffee shops are full of hipsters and you're left feeling dumb or inadequate. These ladies made you feel right at home! You're the customer and you're important. The selection of drink options was small but to the point. They don't have the selection of flavoring on the board but you can spot what they have next to their blenders or just ask the ladies. The pastries are also a small choice but I can see why, they have other breakfast options like breakfast burritos!!! Mmmmm.. lol. Among oatmeal and other options. I chose a cinnamon roll for my wife. The thing looks amazing!! For our drinks I got the nitro cold brew. They give you the option for traditional or put in a bigger cup with ice. If you're gonna drink nitro cold brew always go "original". The wife got an iced latte with white mocha. Again.. it doesn't show it on the menu board just "flavored syrups" so don't be afraid to ask which kind to add to your drink. My drink was sooo good!! The wife is usually picky about her lattes but she said it tasted very good! From her that's a HUGE WIN!!! In Closing- So after my looooong story, if you want to take in a beautiful view and follow it up with some great customer service and the amazing coffee that comes with it!! I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their coffee. I had the Kona. It was a very aromatic and smooth tasting blend. The baristas were attentive and there was an adequate selection of food. A great place to stop by if you're walking through Monterey. read more

Stopped for a cup (Chai tea latte with almond milk) while enjoying the Monterey weather and walk along the shore line. This was one of the best I've had since being here. The mixture was equally delicious both of the milk and chai! read more

There was a line when I got there and I thought I'd have to wait forever but they were so efficient that everything was quick and easy. Their coffee was obviously good. Still my favorite however they NEED to retrain the staff. Some of them make the best coffee ever, and some make a mediocre coffee. The changes that they made are not for the betters now instead of people piling up at the back end, everyone piles around the door waiting for the coffee. Was def better before. Cute little new spot in Cannery with a beautiful view. Grab your coffee and a snack and sit outside. Staff very friendly, and the coffee was delicious as well as the bread we got. Only caveat is there's only one barista actually making the coffee drinks so be prepared to wait for your drink if it's anything other than black brew coffee. They let us sample the Steinbeck (dark brew), and we liked it enough to buy a bag! read more

Ideal coffee & pastry shop across from Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa, we were lucky enough to stay 3 days in Monterey and daily this tiny gem had lines out the door; I could understand why after viewing their sweet selection, and buying their almond croissants, huge cookies and coffee cake muffins to bring home, all were fresh, delicious . I also ordered an Vanilla Ice coffee, very smooth and rich. Will return next visit to the Bay. Tidal Coffee is the place :) read more

I always believe in giving a place another shot, short of egregious behavior. I am glad I did. As before, the staff was very friendly, polite, and patient. I ordered a biscotti and a mocha. The biscotti was perfect; it had the crispness of a cookie, but retained its "biscotti" identity. However, it was soft enough that it could be enjoyed solo. The mocha was excellent. There was a lot of foam (mentioning that for those who have a preference regarding foam), and I liked the drink. Smooth, chocolatey, rich, but not overly so. The ambience, as before, was wonderful. Plenty of booth, counter-height, tables, bench seating, with light decorative touches: cacti as centerpieces, those "atomic"/"compound" lights, mellow music, and a few non-food items for sale, such as Steinbeck's books, an appropriate nod to the local area. (There is also seating outside on the patio overlooking the water, under a pergola, or next to the water.) Food and beverage offerings include the standard fare, such as breakfast pastries, wraps, paninis, cheese plates, and the standard coffee offerings. There is also a soup of the day and clam chowder, again befitting a Monterey food establishment. Immediate parking is mostly metered (which as of this review is $1.50/hr up to 12 hours), but walk a little more up the block, or get lucky and you can find 1 hour, 90 min, and 2 hour street parking. There is always the Cannery Row garage, which offers flat rate parking, prices vary (usually $10-15). read more

When confronted about it they said they were not sure I paid for it. Really ypu think I sat here waiting for something I didn't pay for? What an excuse... Don't go here. This was the most convenient breakfast/coffee spot to the Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa, where my boyfriend and I stayed last weekend. We wanted a quick bite before heading to the aquarium, and we stopped here late Saturday morning to order two veggie wraps, a chocolate croissant, and two café mochas. The line was insanely long, but within 10 minutes or so, we made it to the front. Our croissant was given to us immediately, and we were quite disappointed in its lack of chocolate. There was a light drizzle on top and then some inside, but overall it didn't taste too fresh or satisfying. We still gobbled it up while we waited for our wraps and mochas, which turned out to be pretty good. The mochas were very comforting and hot, and the wraps were so large that we definitely could have split one. There was plenty of seating, and oddly enough, though the place was swarming with people, very few were actually sitting at a table. We had a corner of the largest booth across from the cash register and were in and out in probably 30-45 minutes. It was just the kind of quick breakfast we needed to jump-start the day! read more

We come to Tidal when we are in town as it is conveniently located when staying in the Cannery Row area. Pastries are baked fresh daily and they also have some other items like burritos. Every time we come whether first thing in the morning at 8am or late in the day, there is always a line. If you are in a rush, I do not recommend coming here as in addition to the lines, the service isn't the fastest. As a local coffee spot, its a cute place with ample seating inside and on the patio. The tables all have tiny succulents on them which add some coziness. read more

Stopped in for breakfast several times as they are on the Monterey Plaza Hotel property. Each visit, there was a sizeable line out the door. However, the line moves quickly. Love this coffee spot at Monterey Plaza hotel! It's right by cannery row and the aquarium for a quick scenic spot to sip some coffee while watching otters, sea lions, and other creatures play in the bay. We get coffee and sometimes breakfast and lunch here while staying at Monterey plaza, but it's also a convenient and lovely spot to grab a coffee or quick meal anytime when in the area. Favorite coffee shop gem in Monterey! We stayed at the Intercontinental in Cannery Row and loved the easy morning stroll to this cute coffee shop right by the water. They had safe social distancing during COVID and while the line sometimes looked long, it went by fast and was worth it. Their lattes were delicious and appreciated their milk alternatives like oat milk. We didn't feel like sitting down at a breakfast restaurant nearby every day so we tried their breakfast burrito as a quick option but it was less than average and definitely needed more flavor. Their cinnamon rolls, however, were delicious!!! We ended up getting a warm one every day we were there and they had a pumpkin cinnamon roll during the fall season which was also really good. Came here based on the yelp photos and reviews and have mixed feedback. Yelp makes it look like they have a lot of cute unique breakfast options, even the shop itself has a huge screen with a menu displayed inside that we took our time to study and decide what we wanted (while 2 women who worked behind the counted stood there and watched us deciding) just to approach the counter and order and be told that basically nothing on the screen was available, just what we could see in the glass case which was essentially some scones and bagels. Disappointing. Then we ordered our drinks and 2 of the drinks we ordered they were out of as well (matcha and something else I forget) so we opted for very basic iced chai and coffees and that's it. The drinks we did end up getting were good and the view outside is INSANE, so overall made up for it and would probably return for the view itself- just keep in mind you will probably only get a drink and a view- and most definitely have to find/pay for parking. read more

After the Keurig in our hotel room didn't cut it, we went here, a stones throw from our hotel--got a light roast coffee, chocolate croissant, almond pastry and fruit yogurt. Both pastries were superb, though too sweet for my taste. My husband, though, loved them. They follow strict COVID guidelines, and leave nothing outside, everything is packaged up. They have daily two coffee choices: a light Kona roast and a dark French roast. I went for the Kona one two days in a row with cream, no sugar, and loved it. Tasted fresh and flavorful, deep and rich, which is a hard act to pull off for a light roast. The prices are what you'd expect from a [place of this calibre. read more

Best pressed panini place ever! I want to rave about their pastrami and Swiss panini. It's simple but packed full of flavor. The baristas were kind and helpful with the menu, experts really. This coffee shop has the best location! Right by the ocean, so you got coffee with a view! It's a very busy shop and the line took a while to order, but that's expected with all the tourists/foot traffic from being right on Cannery Row. I got an iced hazelnut latte with almond milk and it was delicious! Plenty of seating inside, but also plenty of tables outside too if you want that ocean breeze and view.
