The restaurant is located upstairs at the Pacific City shopping mall on PCH and has an excellent view of the Huntington Beach coastline. There is plenty of parking in the underground garage, and the restaurant will validate parking for two hours. Reservations can be made on OpenTable. There are two dining areas facing the beach, one with an open air covered area, and one completely inside with floor to ceiling windows. We wanted to enjoy the fresh air, and were seated on the open air patio, right against the front overlooking PCH. They also have a bar area inside. The ladies had the mocktail versions of the pineapple guava margarita and Life is Peachy ($9 each) and enjoyed them. I just had an iced tea which was constantly topped off. I had the pan seared halibut ($42) with broccolini and requested asparagus instead of the default second side of potatoes. The halibut was cooked perfectly with almond slices and cubed tomato on top. The lemon caper butter sauce was sooooooo good, and there was a lot of it to dip the fish and veggies in. The veggies were slightly overcooked, but were still very good, especially with the sauce. Both ladies had the grilled salmon ($32). My girlfriend requested a side salad with blue cheese and the pineapple risotto instead of the default brussel sprouts. Both entrees were enjoyed. We appreciated the manager bringing the birthday girl a complementary Brookie (baked brownie & cookie mix, vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce) which we all shared. We brought my stepdad, who was in a wheelchair, and when we entered, there were two young women working at the front. Despite clearly seeing us trying to navigate the entrance with his wheelchair, neither offered to help with the door. We literally had to ask them to assist us. Something as simple as holding the door for a guest in a wheelchair should be basic hospitality and common courtesy. Unfortunately, the experience did not improve once we sat down at the bar. Our bartender, Viviana/Vidiana, essentially ignored us. My stepdad ordered a glass of Chardonnay, and she clearly heard his order. Rather than acknowledging him or getting his drink, she continued talking to another couple at the bar about how she couldn't wait to be off work. She then walked away, said something quietly to the bartender coming on shift about my stepdad wanting a Chardonnay, grabbed her purse, and left. There was no "Someone else will be taking care of you," no acknowledgment of his order, no goodbye -- nothing. It honestly came across as incredibly rude and dismissive. What bothered me most wasn't having to wait for a glass of wine; it was the complete lack of warmth, attentiveness, and basic hospitality throughout the experience. When you are bringing a family member who uses a wheelchair somewhere, you already have additional things to navigate. Having staff make you feel like an inconvenience rather than welcomed guests makes the experience that much worse. We have enjoyed The Brant before, which is why this visit was especially disappointing. Hospitality is about making people feel welcome and cared for, and unfortunately, that was completely missing during our latest visit.
