Definitely had a great time at Tides. Right when we were seated, our server greeted us and was attentive to our table throughout the evening. As for the food, I had a stuffed clam to start. It came out hot and tasted delicious. I could definitely taste and feel the clams inside the stuffing. I would definitely order it again. The main meal was Tides' just lobster roll with fries on the side. The sandwich was big and had an abundant amount of lobster inside. Plus, these lobster pieces were huge! It all tasted fresh and was certainly heavenly. As a typical seafood restaurant by the ocean, it was a casual place with a comfortable atmosphere. There are plenty of windows to view the ocean; making the experience at Tides a bit more pleasant. There is also an assortment different mixed drinks, drink specials, and draft beer. So if you are looking to have some alcohol and a good variety of it with your seafood, this place has you covered. Overall, a good place to eat some yummy seafood with a date or group of people. As a side note, I would recommend calling for a reservation because the place can get really packed and you may have to wait a while until you can get seated. read more

Tides, Tides, Tides!!!!!! What a staple of the Nahant community. This wonderful little restaurant has it all and an amazing view and ample parking to top it off! It's a great place to go with a group of friends and can be either social or intimate depending on what kind of experience you're going for. Although it's been a month or so since I last visited this restaurant, I wanted to take some time and revisit this review after hearing how much this establishment gives back to their local community. Thank you Tides for your support in the "Take Back the Night" event. My wife and I have eaten here often. The food and the service is excellent. Views of the ocean and the beach are awesome. Yesterday we had a pizza and it was absolutely amazing. Delicious and done perfectly. I highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner. read more

I treated staff and one housemate to lunch yesterday at the Tides, the waitress was very friendly and professional when taking everyone's orders down, I had the BBQ steak tips, they were delicious, my staff had the haddock and she said it was delicious, and the housemate had a grilled cheese with fries, he said it was delicious and this is a great place to have lunch or dinner and the Tides is a great place to bring your Family to have lunch or dinner. read more

I made the mistake of looking inside the kitchen and saw one employee manning the microwave for about 20 minutes. one dish after the next was being nuked including the mico (small portions) kids plate of pasta. we sent it back because the pasta was cold and rubbery while the sauce was screaming hot. they seem to be buying a lesser quality steak - I ate it because I was hungry but it used to be much better steak. I used to go here as a kid and the food was great then - not now - they will nuke all of your food and bill you as if it's served fresh - its too bad. the only restaurant in town too and its kind of a flop for me read more

I love love love Tides! Found this place during Covid and so trips to Nahant Beach. Have eaten there at least 7-8 times since. Last time w/a group of girlfriends. Everything I have ordered from salads, burger, to dinner plates has been fresh and delicious. My girlfriends agreed! My only request- get corn tortillas!!! Fish tacos need corn tortilla option for those of us GF. Please! And thanks for making my beach trips that much more awesome. Will continue to frequent as I know patio getting revamped! Cool beach bar. Bar food. Big bar seats a lot of people. Nice spot to go to after the beach but It wouldn't be a destination for me.

I honestly love this place. They do a wide range of things really well including pizza, Italian, and seafood. The cocktails are good with a wide range of beers on draft (and great sangria). I have never disliked anything I have ordered there and especially love the shrimp scampi pizza - it's amazing! The Tides Advantage program is worth the $15 a year and gets you points and free customer appreciation dinner once a year. They also allow a call ahead service to put your name in for a table before you arrive, which is really convenient. We keep going back and highly recommend. read more

We waited about 20 min for a table on Labor Day. It was very busy, even at 7:30. Our waiter was a nice guy. I asked about the salmon special - coconut encrusted - and he said people liked it. I ordered that along with a stuffed quahog and my cousin had the chowder and a chicken parm sandwich. I also ordered garlic bread and onion rings as sides, but the kitchen mistakenly added sweet potato fries to boot! Bonus! It was all very good - especially the salmon. No room for ice cream, but the special sundae was a reasonable $4. I don't make it to the North Shore more than once a month (first time to Nahant) but I'd come back some day. read more

We had dinner here a few days ago. It was very very hot (about 92), and we wanted to be seated outdoors, but it wasn't an option as it was too hot. We chose this place because there isn't a lot of outdoor dining on the north shore. We sat in the bar area, which has a gorgeous view of the ocean and the beach. Our server was supper attentive and friendly. We both had steak tips and they were great. Cooked exactly the way we asked. Everything was reasonably priced. Tides is not upscale. It's more of a family type restaurant that seems to host a lot of "regulars". I would recommend this to most anyone. read more

Nahant is a place that I don't visit very often. When my date suggested one of his favorite spots, Tides, as our dinner venue last night I was excited not only to try a new restaurant, but take in some pretty beach views as well. The last time I was in Lynn I was there to purchase my vehicle. I remember the fast- paced test drive through the city and passed through this familiar territory on the way to Nahant last night. It's city life at its finest, but I love how the ocean air and seagulls suddenly appear as the industrial feel fades into the distance. Once I turned onto Nahant Causeway, I was amazed by the beautiful ocean views with planes flying overhead and the city shining in the distance. The ride into Tides felt like a little adventure and I really enjoyed it. Tides has a small parking lot that fills up quickly, but last night I snagged a spot right away. My date suggested we dine in the bar area as it faces the ocean and is a bit more scenic than the dining room. (Although I believe there are some good views from the dining room as well). The bar room has large windows overlooking the beach and an outdoor patio area as well. The restaurant itself is very casual with what appears to be its original decor. I noticed the vinyl on our booth seat was a bit worn, so don't expect high class luxury. It's a real casual, low key beachfront dining experience, yet with good food and some pretty scenery. The menu offers a variety of classic American fare with an emphasis on seafood. There are pasta dishes, burgers, chicken, steak, pizza - something for everyone. There was a very lengthy list of appetizers. I went with good 'ol fish and chips and was happy with the large portion. They asked if I wanted fries AND onion rings on the side- sure sounds great to me! My meal was really good and I especially liked the steak fries on the side. My date last night is one of those non-seafood people (they just don't know what they are missing- sigh) and went with grilled chicken. He seemed happy with his meal and said it was a dish he often orders on his regular visits to Tides. Our server's name was Julie and she was very friendly and attentive. The bar room had several TV's so we were able to check in on the Sox game. They have a decent drink menu too and close to 30 beers on tap. Seafood and beer overlooking the water is a perfect night out in my book. I can't believe I have been missing out on both Nahant and Tides all my life! We have not been to the Tides in years and we will NOT be back. What a rip off. We ordered two just lobster rolls and bowl of clam chowder. The lobster rolls were good but very expensive, even for lobster. $22 each. Kelly's is a better value. The clam chowder was a real disappointment. They served it in a tiny little bowl ( the same size as a kiddie ice cream) and charged $5.00. I have added photos of the chowder. I actually called the restaurant and asked if they might have given me a cup in error and was told they only have one size. I really felt taken. Avoid unless you enjoy overpaying for small portions. read more

We enjoyed a leisurely late lunch here last weekend, and were pleased with our visit. The location is lovely with a nice view of the nahant beach, and a deck which i can see getting very busy on a warm summer weekend. The day was brisk so we ate inside, very large booths made us feel comfortable, the decor was a bit dated but the view makes up for it to some degree. the service was on point and the waitress friendly without being intrusive. We ordered fish tacos and nachos, our food came quickly and was as we ordered. My friend enjoyed a microbrew beer and i got an iced tea which was terrible for some reason. Prices seemed a little on the high side for basic bar food but we're willing to pay for good service decent food in a nice setting. Parking lot is on the small side so plan ahead if going during peak times, likely after 4 and weekends in the summer. read more

This place was quite a surprise, as lot of times restaurants like this can be a real let down. Tides has great real estate! I would expect that if your not sitting on the patio or have an ocean view it won't be as great of an experience, However as long as you order the right things you won't be let down. You will be able to enjoy a great stroll along the beach after you replenish your food stores as well. My wife and I ordered a couple apps, couple cocktails and a couple entrees. Let's be real here, if you're ordering anything that has a bun on it and youre disappointed then you should probably go to McDonalds. Also if you're ordering fried seafood, you would be disappointed regardless of where you went as that's just ruining anything from the sea as that's not how it's enjoyed best. The "seafood platter" comes fried and we had them bake it. It was good not great(3.8/5). Also had the "soft shell crab cakes", if you've made it this far you know how they were(2/5) the saving grace os the aoli that comes with it. Clam chowder was so-so,(3/5).....think it may have been Campbells....the BEST thing we had there was the "crab ravioli". It was great. Large ravioli stuffed with minced crab swimming in a wonderful cream sauce. The cream sauce was just heavy enough for you to really feel hearty and satisfied but not so heavy you need a nap afterwards. Wonderful wonderful dish. I can't say enough good things about that dish. It seems that I am having a "soon to be bad" marriage life with The Tides. Mesmerizing moment I had with their roasted seafood platter at the first time I was here is now distant memory - no longer included in the menu. The fishermen's platter I had was an "OK". I could see the sign of age on broccoli because I saw some yellow spots on the crown. But I have to say, it didn't taste bad. It was rather good. Main complaint is that the service was horrible. My partner and I ordered an app with the drinks and it never came and we had to remind our waitress Lindsay about it when the meals were served (because she didn't bother to check on us before then). We also had to remind her to bring a Sprite we ordered and asked 3x for soy sauce that was supposed to come with one of our dishes...she never apologized once and would just say "oh that's what you ordered?" As for the food, the $24 seafood casserole that's supposed to have lobster, shrimp and scallops is mainly just 1/2 filled with breading and then 4 enormous shrimp while you search for tiny pieces of lobster and scallops. Your tv options while you try and enjoy your meal are either sports talk or grisly news stories. Nothing remarkable about this place except the view. read more

My second visit here, both times have been lunch. We had about a 7 minute wait to be seated today. Unfortunately all booths facing the water were taken. Our server came shortly after being seated. Appetizers= Cold Seafood: clams, oysters & shrimp. Very good size. I loved the clams they were like taking a fresh bite of the ocean. The oysters were ok but it's also not season for them. Clam Chowder: I liked it. It had good flavor & decent amount of clams. Good consistency. Lunch: Lobster Roll, an entire lobster on a yummy roll! The seafood, drink selection, and view are unbeatable. Watched a guy kite surfing (in December) while we enjoyed our craft beverages and seafood platter. There was a minor service problem due to a server who was probably new, this was handled quickly and very satisfactorily. We signed up for their generous loyalty program and will be going back even though we live an hour away. The biggest issue here is parking. The parking lot is tight, and if the restaurant is full, the parking lot is full. Definitely helps to have a small car and dine during off-peak hours, or arrive when they open. read more

I had the most disappointing lunch at TIDES yesterday. The fried clams were overcooked and the batter they use is very thick and flavorless. The onion rings were also overcooked, while the baked potato was not hot. My niece's mac and cheese - well the thin, brownish yellow cheese sauce was just weird. Mom just told me how disappointed she was with the bite size style fish and chips she had, the batter was not crispy like one would expect a fried fish batter to be crispy. Service was very good, ambience is nice and the bathrooms are clean. Market priced clams price point, $25 for a small clam plate, $34.50 for a large, seemed over the top $$$$$$. read more

After the holiday madness settled down my friend and I went out for dinner to exchange gifts and catch up. She wanted seafood and after debating it decided on taking me here. She had been several years prior and was hoping the service (and food) had improved since then. The food. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms to start with, and I had the lobster ravioli and she had the swordfish (I believe). It was all really quite good! The lobster ravioli had plenty of actual lobster pieces in it as opposed to the few pieces you get with other high priced meals. I'm still craving it a month later. I can't really say much about the view as we went at night. From what I could see I'm sure it's absolutely beautiful during the day. The seating was my favorite part, booths! Large booths and you aren't right on top of everyone else, which was really great. It wasn't very busy while we were there which also added to it. My only real issue was the service. Our waiter was ok, a bit flirty with my friend, but no one was overly friendly. I went to the bathroom at one point and got the nastiest stare down from a few waitresses standing at the hostess stand. After the meal it took a very long time for him to come back and pack up our food to go, and even longer for him to bring the bill.
