We read the reviews for the Pub sandwich so were super excited to try it. Because of the COVID pandemic, many restaurants are struggling just a bit with supplies, so although they didn't have that sandwich for the day, they did have a BBQ seitan sandwich (YeeHaw BBQ) that was delicious. I also had a peanut butter cookie which had the crispness on the outside, but soft center, that I remember how a peanut butter cookies should be. My friend had the vanilla cupcake which she said was wonderful. You must try this adorable cafe if in the area. read more

The owner immediately asked us if we were vegan or vegetarian and pointed out the vegan options. I had a brownie sundae (vegetarian but dairy free and delicious) and my companion had a vanilla milkshake (vegan). Both were amazing. They also have a little gift shop which will be great around the holidays for female friends. Fun postcards and the like, but the thing to come for is the FOOD. You won't regret it. read more

It's too bad nearly every time i visit my mom in Chesterton, it happens to be a Sunday-Monday visit because Tiger Lily is closed on those days. Flew out late Tuesday this time around, so got to do lunch here. We thoroughly enjoyed our food. I had the vegan roast beef and a delicious salad with an amazing house-made dressing. I can't find the menu online so i can't tell you the exact name...sorry. The non-vegans at the table enjoyed their meals as well. FYI, they do have outdoor seating. So many vegan foods in the middle of nowheres! Thankful that this place popped up while I was on a road trip. The food was fantastic, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The only thing that threw me off was that there is a small grocery store in the back... and the employee's McDonald's cups and jackets were on one of the tables. read more

I've been eating here since the place opened and over the ensuing years the food has remained consistently awesome, the staff as friendly as you could ask for, and really this place is a vegan oasis in the middle of a food desert. Great sandwiches and even better shakes plus vegan baked goods. They have normal people food too so if you have a fussy carnivore in your group this place is an easy compromise. read more

I am vegan and live in Chicago but came back to valpo for a wedding this past weekend. We stopped by tiger lily hoping to pick up some desserts to bring with us to have at the wedding while everyone else enjoyed wedding cake and we were so pleasantly surprised by the options. The staff was incredibly friendly and helped us pick out a beautiful vegan chocolate cupcake, brownie and cherry turnover. Everything was amazing and i am so happy to know this place exists in nwi. I have never had the chance to eat lunch or dinner here because they are closed on Sunday and Monday which happen to also be my days off but we will definitely make an effort to dine here now that our experience with their bakery was so great. read more

This experience was a first. We actually used Yelp to find a good place for breakfast that wasn't necessarily a chain restaurant. We found this place. Walked in and asked if the 4 topper was ok as we were a party of 2. We were told it was. When I came back from the bathroom, we had been asked to move for a large party. No one ever sat at the table. We had to ask for menus and silverware. When we ordered, it was two waffles and a coffee. Did you know that to refill coffee, the waitress takes it back to the kitchen? Neither did I. I would like to offset the ridiculous and incompetent service with a statement that the food was good but I can't. We waited literally 45 minutes for our food. IT NEVER CAME. FOURTY FIVE MINUTES FOR WAFFLES!!!!! MANAGEMENT: if you want to only do catering, CLOSE THE RESTAURANT. Your staff is incapable of waiting on customers and serving food. Read your Yelp reviews because we are telling you the problem. The pastries looked great. The other patrons' food looked good. Your staff was horrible. We left. Never got our food and no I didn't pay for the coffee. That was your payment for wasting 45 minutes of my trip waiting. read more

The menu is split in half, with one side having vegan options and the other having traditional options, making it a great choice for dates or small groups. I had high hopes for this place since finding anything with a vegan menu within 50 miles of home has proven to be difficult, but my hopes were dashed and I won't be returning here anytime soon. For starters, we were sat, but then we waited and waited and waited before anyone came to get our drink orders. Then we waited some more for them to show up and take our actual order. I had the vegan pub sandwich, my wife had the vegan "chicken", "bacon", and ranch salad. We ordered the kids a regular chicken quesadilla to split. It took forever for the food to finally show after coming to tell me that my side order had just run out. It also took forever for the staff to bus the table next to ours. They actually put it off until all tables were full and more people came through the door and then scurried to clean it before they turned around and walked out. When my food did arrive the sandwich was beyond overcooked and the fries were lukewarm at best. My Upton's Naturals crumbles were so burnt that they were crunchy and the bread was stale. My wife's salad was alright, but nothing spectacular. The quesadillas were mediocre at best. We decided to try the vegan desserts since they're known for their baked goods and went with the chocolate donut, the pudding and cake cup, and the lemon tart. To start with the good, the pudding cup was actually really good. The lemon tart had a bit more crust than filling. Unfortunately the donut ruined everything beyond redemption for me. We cut it into quarters so everyone could try a bite and when we did we all had the same disgusted reaction as we crunched into a donut that felt and tasted like it had been sitting in that display for at least a week. I'm not planning on going back again after our experience. TL;DR: Slow service, burnt food, stale donuts. read more

In the area for a business meeting I needed a place to grab a quick bite and take a conference call. I hit the jackpot with this plate. The pear walnut salad is delicious. I asked for chicken to be added because I needed the protein and it was juicy and tender. Bottom line: whether you are vegan or not, if you are going to eat in Chesterton...eat here! read more

I'm in love. I've gone about 90% vegan and 10% vegetarian recently. They have a vegan only menu! They make their own seitan on site. Bakery is beautiful with vegan fair as well. Staff was wonderful and helpful. Cleanest restaurant and kitchen I have ever seen. Had the equivalent of a Philly cheese steak but vegan with the cucumber salad side. Iced tea was fantastic. Menu was extensive on both the vegan and standard offerings. Left with the best chocolate caramel cupcake EVER. Can't wait to go back for the vegan peanut butter cookie dipped in dark chocolate. We had lunch today and absolutely loved it!!! We had the shepherds pie, BLTA, Philly cheesesteak and I think it was called the Pub sandwich (?). It was the first thing listed on the menu. We also had the chili cheese fries. Fantastic!! Oh, did I mention it was also vegan? Also the chili and spinach orzo soup. I am so excited that we found this treasure. I didn't leave a review of last time but it was super uncomfortable because it was packed and this place is not suited for packed. We came at the perfect time this time! Not full of people and we didn't get stuck near a door in the winter. This place is in serious need of expansion! Anyway, our food was delicious, even better than usual. My husband and I ordered vegan dishes, as usual. The chef even came out and asked how our food was which was really nice. The staff were friendly and fast as usual too. Ordered a few new things from the bakery. Lemon coconut cream cookies, banana brownie, and a turtle brownie. They were all amazing. I could eat the banana brownies all day! Next time I'll get more than one. We got a blueberry muffin that I could do without though, first thing I've tried that I just personally didn't like. read more

Amazing vegan options. We visited on a Friday during lent and were surprised by how many incredible vegan options we had to choose from. I got the vegan spaghetti and 'meatballs' while my husband got the incredible 'burger'. Both items could have fooled us into thinking they were real meat. We also had some amazing macaroons for dessert. This establishment will 100% become favorite for both of us! Megan was also an incredible server and brought personality to our visit. read more

As we travel around the country, my omnivore wife and I are always looking for good restaurants where we can both have several menu choices. Tiger Lily meets our two most important criteria - many (actually equal) choices for both of us and enjoyable food. It also has good service from nice people and a wonderful bakery. The number of good bakeries with vegan options is not great, but this is excellent. Anyone traveling along the east-west I80-90-94 artery through Northwest Indiana should stop to try it. We travel it a lot between Madison, WI and Boston, MA so will definitely return. read more

Based on Yelp reviews, we got off the interstate and searched this place out while traveling through the area. Food was good; Cobb salad and turkey BLT were both fresh tasted good. However, service was not very friendly. You know the feeling, like you're an imposition. Ordered ice tea, didn't specify nor was asked sweetened or unsweetened. Got sweetened, took a while to get changed. Didn't have a chance to drink much by the time I got it so asked for a go cup. Dumped what I had left in a cup and didn't offer to refill. Got 2 scoops of ice cream to go; looked like melon balls scoops for $4. Bottom line, good, fresh food, just didn't feel welcome. read more
