I stopped by while I was in a rush during my lunch break. I wanted something easy and quick to eat and ordered the spam musibi and salmon hand roll. The workers were nice and patient with me and it was comfortable sitting inside. The spam musibi is exactly what I expected. A little too much rice, but that's just how spam musibi is. I'm always on the search for a new lunch spot in OC. Today's great find is Tiger Plate. I ordered their Citrus Ponzu bowl and Spam Musubi. I'm very happy with how fresh and good quality the fish are. Portions were very generous too. Their flavor combo reminds me of the poke bowls served in Hawaii, which is Tiger Plate's specialty. Not to mention their Spam Musubi was delicious too! This was a friends recommendation. This poke place is located in the plaza where Anjin is so be expected to have limited parking during their peak hours. If you are fan of poke, so there's not much to say about this except what is different. For starters, they have Yelp check in offer of free selected variety of cans ranging from Hawaiian drinks and classic sodas like Dr Pepper and such. If you are student (must show valid id e because they are super stingy about it), you get an additional 10% off. They do have handrolls and other dishes but the most popular is the spam musabi. You choose between three different ounces: 3, 4 and 6. The 3 oz is kid size and 6 oz is the largest. To be honest, you don't get a lot for 6 oz. You can't double on the protein in case there's something you don't like. You can select up to 5 different toppings and the rest cost extra. Spicy original is their hottest sauce and does tickle your throat if you are spicy lover. So at least that's somewhat true. Make sure you get all the toppings you ask for because I didn't get my ginger until I was searching for it. For toppings that don't cost extra, you can ask for more but either they don't put enough to seem look extra or they are just lying about it. Mine didn't get extra toppings even though the cashier (girl) said she would double it on the receipt (which she didn't btw). 4.5 Anyone with blue crab I'm a fan immediately! So glad they kept it because the cashier told me, they were thinking about taking it off the menu :(( . Was craving Hawaiian poke and decided to give this place a try. I made my own bowl and my boyfriend got the sweet and spicy yuzu bowl. The fish and all other ingredients they use are very fresh! I didn't feel like anything was "too fishy" or felt old. The sweet and spicy yuzu bowl was fresh and yummy! Having mango bites was intrresting but I feel it works. The sauce is definitely on the sweeter side with a veerry light kick. Not really spicy at all! Make your own bowl is also nice. I actually prefer the spicy ponzu sauce. I got half brown rice and half salad. I felt they added enough sauce to the fish because I definitely felt it soaked up the flavor. And it adds a nice dressing to the salad. They have a yelp check in for a free drink! It only applies to the canned drinks on the bottom shelf, which includes a lot of options of hawaiian drinks. Overall I would get this place again! I would definitely get the salmon over the tuna, but they allow you to mix fish as the price is based on the ounce of fish you order. The portion size was also good as it didn't seem like they were being cheap and giving small scoops, and 4 ounces was enough to keep me full for the rest of the night. On a Friday evening, parking was a challenge as a portion of the parking lot becomes valet only. We were lucky to find parking behind the building. I tried this place this past weekend for lunch after my dog's vet visit so, I'm glad Tiger Plate is dog friendly. Surprisingly the parking lot inside the plaza wasn't bad at all and it usually gets packed. It was my first time here so, I was bit overwhelmed by what to order since everything sounded so good. The cashier there was very patient and friendly when taking my order while I was figuring out exactly what I wanted. In the end, I decided to get the Spam Musubi and create my own bowl with their Spicy Mayo. The poke was very fresh and flavorful. I got their Spicy Chili sauce on the side for a bit more spiciness which enhanced the flavors of my bowl. The only complaint I had was that I wish it was a bit more saucy. I liked how you can add mango as a topping to give it a bit of sweetness. The spam musubi was yummy as well. It had the right amount of seasoning and sauce and I liked how the spam was cooked to a nice crispy brown. Overall, I enjoyed my bowl and spam musubi. The lot gets really packed so fingers crossed you find a place, otherwise they have valet. Inside the spot, they have a few tables and chairs to enjoy your meal at. It was $8 and enough food for lunch. I really would have liked even just a little bit of seaweed salad inside of the wrap, but served as is it was still very tasty. It's also served with a spicy mayo dipping sauce. The poke tasted very fresh and the seaweed that it was wrapped in had a really nice crunchy texture. The one positive was the staff, they were super sweet and the customer service was great! Unfortunately the food was pretty disappointing. The spam was generally overcooked and one of the three that we got was actually visibly burnt so they were all pretty tight and and the rice was dry as well which made the whole thing a bit hard to chew through.
