So I came here twice the first time the taquito (flauntas) were fine. Little crispy but ok .. my partner enjoyed his burrito I came here. Second time and ordered enchilada tacos and burrito for a few people.. and this experience was not as swell.. the flavor of the enchilada were very basic and the tacos toppings were served separately the steak was very fatty .. the chicken was fresh There was a spoiled smell inside which should have been telling .. I would probably only order the flauntas in the future

I placed an order thru Grubhub at 1000am, Bean and Cheese Enchiladas with steak. Guacamole added on the side. Order arrived on time, everything was intact. Food is delicious. Seasoning just right, not overly salty. This is my 3rd order during the Covid-19 shelter in place. (Grubhub offered $5 discount)

I've been coming here for decades now with my family. The epitome of an authentic Mexican hole in the wall restaurant that has stood the test of time with the same ownership. Parking can be rough at times but on the weekends the small lot between them and a tire shop is available. The area is kinda sketchy but you shouldn't have any issues The food has gone from great to ok to great and right now with my recent experience on mothers day I'd say they're ok right now. The sopes is my go-to every time, still better than anywhere else that I can think of. Fluffy, airy, moist and flavorful is how I like em. Some people prefer dry, crunchy sopes and that's on them, this isn't the place for that lol. They carry a variety of seafood plates/platters mariscos that I highly recommend too, fresh and tasty. My family often order the whole fried snapper fish de Diablo which has a nice spicy kick to it. Pretty big portion and cooked to perfection.. Tijuanas won't win any style points, but its a better than most establishment for a meal to hit the spot.

Caldo de Chile Relleno! Yes! You heard me...Chile Relleno Soup is served at this Mexican restaurant. My mom used to make it this way. It was good. The broth was taste and served with Homemade Corn tortillas (super soft) The place is not upscale at Allan's the outside curb appeal is not nice at all but the Caldos are popular here. I'd come back again for the Caldo de Chile a Relleno Soup.

I eat here with my mother all the time and they serve amazing food but I should have checked my TOGO before I left. I never had to do this before cause this never happened once. I PAID 16$ for this?!?! I don't think so. Good to know how they treat loyal customer. La cagada!

I am so going to miss this place. Recently relocated and visited this place before we moved. My fave was the Birria seca and the levanta muertos. The best part? Freshly hand made tortillas.

This spot is located along the "stroll". If you drive too fast - you'll surely miss it. It's a family owned dive with expensive prices but authentic Mex food. The food is just hella good. I like the fact that the seafood is fresh and doesn't include food poisoning. My fav dish is the surf n turf which includes massive butterfly prawns sauteed in garlic and butter. The rib eye steak is cooked in its own juicy juice. On top of both are massively large half cut garlic cloves. This meal comes with a very fresh side salad with homemade thousand island dressing and a fat avacado slice. Rice and beans included. I get the whole pinto beans separate cuz I don't like them touching my other food items. This meal also comes with a thick butter garlic sauce and I definitely pass on that. But their pico de gallo is homemade and very different from any that I've had before. You get a choice of flour or corn hot tortillas. It's enough for two people or two dinners - unless you're a piglet. Free parking is adjacent to the building in a gate enclosure. I sit in my car and order which takes about 10-15 mins. They have inside dining if you ask nicely. Breakfast is the bomb too. My fav is crab omlette and it is just ridiculously DELISH and super fresh.

I took a photo of the menu to remind myself what I ordered but to no avail

Just ordered and devoured takeout from here! Everything is fresh and so delicious. Very generous with the sauces as well. If you got cravings, you won't go wrong with this spot.

It was a quiet Tuesday evening, and we were among the last customers there, which made for a relaxed and enjoyable experience. I'm pretty selective about finding the right balance between taste and nutrition, and this meal really hit the mark. We both ordered the bibimbap with tofu and mixed grains instead of white rice. I especially appreciated having that option--it's surprisingly rare to find anything other than white rice at authentic Korean restaurants. The variety of vegetables, both sautéed and fermented, was such a treat. There was a generous amount of food, but we ate every bite because it was so delicious! Next time, we'll ask for a takeout box at the beginning so we can pace ourselves and have leftovers for the next day. Definitely looking forward to coming back!

Came here last month with my partner's family who were visiting and wanted to try some local eats…read more Tang Jip was a good choice considering the nice location, good price, and good reviews we saw. The restaurant is very nice and spacious, with a lot of booth and table seating inside and quite a bit of outside seating with an overhang for those sunny days. This was great for us because we also had a dog with us. However, we did have a few issues prior to us ordering and getting our food. First, while our party had already arrived and talked to one of the hosts, they went back inside and didn't get us menus, plates, bowls, napkins, etc. to set up a table until about 10 minutes later when we just decided to pick one. We also asked to turn on one of the heaters near our table since it was evening and getting chilly, and it took a bit of time (our food was already coming out by this point) to get that up and running. Lastly, while those I can chock up to being minor issues at worst, there was a weird interaction regarding getting some free drinks that they advertised in a exchange for a Yelp review. When we said we already checked in online and would do a review after, they insisted we do it then and there for the deal and one of the waiters actually stood and watched us (to make sure we did it?) and that we specifically gave 5 stars before our meal, which we felt pressured to do by that point (which I ultimately deleted afterwards before doing this re-review). It's a shame that there was that offputting moment in a otherwise great meal. While the waiters told us that the set combos they advertised were specifically meant for one person, they were more than enough for 2/3 to share and getting 2 sets for our table of 5 + an appetizer had us stuffed. The SoonTofu stew was hot and hearty while the bulgogi was nicely charred and they gave a ton to eat. This + the amount of banchan, which to their credit gave us more of, was delightful. A dinner for 5 being less than $100 is a great value in these times where it's harder to justify eating out at all. Ultimately the food made up for a strange beginning and would still recommend this as a great dinner spot.

Unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing from the very beginning. I initially emailed the restaurant regarding reservations but did not receive a response until several days later. I had also asked a few questions in my email, but those questions were not addressed until the day of our reservation, which made the planning process more stressful than it needed to be for such a special occasion. The food was also quite mediocre. The pasta was overly salty, and we specially ordered chicken Alfredo, which was not on the menu. Unfortunately, the chicken was dry and the dish lacked flavor. The calamari was also dry and did not have the crispy texture we expected. Additionally, we ordered the New York steak medium rare, but it arrived much closer to well-done and was quite dry. I chose not to complain during the dinner because it was my daughter's 16th birthday, and I did not want to disrupt her special celebration. However, I was disappointed that the restaurant did not seem particularly accommodating or willing to work with us, especially considering that we were planning a milestone birthday celebration. Overall, while I truly appreciated the attentiveness and helpfulness of our servers, the lack of communication, disappointing food, and overall lack of accommodation made this a much less enjoyable experience than we had hoped for.

After scoping out the vibes of the place and the menu, I told myself to make sure to give this a shot. The place is in a redeveloped corner of Alameda right next to the bay. Probably used to be Navy base grounds back in the day. But now there's a couple of blocks worth of hip warehouse-y type of buildings, mostly restaurants, beer spots, some lofts and a little retail commerce. Very happening even though the surrounding area is a ghost town. Dining area not too big, maybe a couple of rooms that can hold about 20-30 heads each. Think there's another room for a private party/overflow. Decor pretty minimalist and stark. Service on the upscale side but in my stay, matched the decor, very minimalist and stark. Efficient enough but a little terse with little emotion. But I know service personality can differ from time to time or person to person. Just my obsy for one out. Daily Crudo ($20/4*) I think this rotates daily. Our choices that day was hamachi or a house smoked sturgeon. The sturgeon really piqued my interest but then it really wouldn't be a 'crudo' anymore would it, since I relate crudos to something 'raw-ish'. So I chose the hamachi. Very pretty plating, I love symmetry and balance. The thin slices of hamachi were indeed fresh, sitting in a stealthy pool of yuzu and olive oil. There are some fresno pepper slices and microgreens that garnish and a delicious nori cracker to break and accompany the crudo. This went really well with my glass of Fume Blanc. Caeser ($17/4.5*) We split this salad as their version sounded super cool. A miso-tinged Caeser dressing, lots of rustic garlic croutons and feathery soft grated parm and a soft-boiled egg. I love properly made Caesers and this was one of the best and unique versions I've ever had. The umami punch and the diverse textures just hit with me. A tad salty for a salad, but the crunchy and refreshing lettuce was able to absorb the salt blast. Huge salad too, like ideal for splitting and ridiculously large if for 1. Beef Short Rib ($43/4*) This was on special that night, and since I wasn't feeling Steak Frites (their only other beef entree option) this kinda fell on my lap. Very heavy and hearty dish. The short rib part was impeccable, super tender, gotta be sous vide. Perfectly seasoned with braising elements completely penetrated into the meat. There was a coarse gravy/sauce that covered which was okay, may have been the braising liquid just pureed. Served atop a huge pile of some risotto that I didn't inquire about. This risotto is what made the dish especially heavy. I ate most of it and it put me in a heavy carb coma. Lol. But there was a nice serving of perfectly cooked broccolini which helped balanced out the rich beef and carb heavy risotto. Chocolate Bar ($13/4.5*) Shared this for dessert as I really couldn't take more than just a few bites after the filling entree. But was this impressive, like high end dessert quality. Whoever does the desserts here definitely has some pedigree. The precision cut bar consisted of 3 layers. A brownie layer; a Bailey's mousse; and a salted caramel layer. I was loving the texture of all the different layers playing on one another. And every flavor was distinct without being overly sweet, which hit the right chords with me. A thick ganache garnished off to the side, which was good but just seemed a bit overkill with the already chocolate dominant bar. I think a cream element would have been a better contrast instead of rich chocolate on rich chocolate. But very minor quip on an otherwise skillful dessert. I finished the last few sips of my glass of Rhone with this dessert, and it left me one happy camper. I would definitely return as their style with flavors hits an accord with me. A little French, a smidge of Japanese and a lot of California. Rounding to a fiver, as this place made me more happy than not.

I really like how they let you build your seafood experience exactly how you want it, from the type of seafood to the seasoning and spice level. The only thing was I think the spice level could've been kicked up a notch. Our table ordered a mix of oysters, garlic noodles, Cajun fries, shrimp, crawfish, mussels, which came with corn, potatoes, sausage and hard boiled egg! The seafood was fresh and the sauce coated everything nicely without being overwhelmingly salty, and the corn and potatoes soaked up all the seasoning. All for a very reasonable price if you get the combo, which comes in 3 different tiers! The oysters were a standout--fresh, briny & I loved all the different sauces like horse radish and cocktail on the side. I do wish the fries were a bit more crispy and could've gone heavier with the Cajun seasoning, but that's personal preference. The atmosphere is casual, lively, and perfect for big groups. If the restaurant serves frozen crawfish, that's fine, but customers should be given accurate information when they ask directly about the product right?
