It's a 24 hour spot, which is great. I walked to Carls, Jr. in desperate need of a greasy burger after hours style. Unfortunately, their drive thru was the only thing open, and if you don't have a car that's a little trickier. But hey! Right across the street was this diamond in the rough. Breakfast 24 hours!! Whoo hoo! Now you're singing my song. I got a bacon cheeseburger with fries. It arrived so damn quick I wasn't even ready for it. But yeah it was good. Peppery bacon, and I added avocado to it. Fries are fresh cut home-style. Yeah! I thought it was a really fun experience, and my belly was happy with it too. I imagine it's a little odd to be eating eggs and pancakes while hearing the overwhelming thud from the bass of the bar music. Strange. and awesome. *A note for the ladies: If you come here alone at night bring a book or call a boy or something. There are more than a few sleazy lookin dudes hangin out here. Ahhh.. the Tik Tok. From the location, right on 82nd Avenue nestled between the Unicorn Motel (a/k/a "The 82nd St. Crack Shack") and something equally as crack-ety-crack, I always thought this place was going to be the crackiest of cracky Denny's-esque coffee shops cum crack-dealer dens. Well paint me surprised. I found the 'Tok to be much cleaner and nicer on the inside than I expected. The service was friendly. It didn't seem too crowded, although I couldn't see much through the category-5 second-hand smoke bank floating around the room. The food portions are GIGANTIC, and the quality literally rates about 4-stars above Denny's. The cocktails people were enjoying at the adjacent tables (I was there at about 9:30 am on a Saturday morning) looked stiff. No, these weren't bloodies. I'm sure that would have been a plus if I wanted to get blotto first thing in the morning. The food prices are quite reasonable, and for the portions, pretty dynamo. Ah the Tik Tok, AKA Trashy McDivey's. There's something very Tarantino-esque about strolling in to a diner-bar on SE 82nd at 2 in the morning. First there's that scent of cigarette smoke, vinyl, and pie as you walk through the narrow lobby. Then there's all the ladies with big hair and fake nails waving their half-smoked Virginia Slims in the air as they talk to their trucker boyfriends over shamelessly mediocre coffee and absolutely enormous portions of standard American diner fare. So you sit down at a booth under some awesome old clocks and turn over one of four brightly colored mugs in the universal signal that you need hot caffeine now. And while your sassy and friendly yet tough as nails waitress expertly slings you some java, you peruse a dingy menu filled with things like fried pepperjack cheese sticks and beer fries. Sure 82nd and Powell is not the most convenient location, & their SE Division location is even further, but if you're playing the DD for a car full of drunks looking for large quantities of grease, or if you're looking for that down to earth friendly vibe of a roadside cafe but don't have time for a proper road trip, the Tik Tok is like a truck-stop diner from heaven. Great food! Pretty good service. There's a lot of locals in there so for a tourist to just stop in you'll get a bunch of stares, which is weird. Takes a little while for the food to come but it is hot and fresh. My steak was a bit tough for medium well but the pie is absolutely amazing. I had chocolate creme! So good! Recommended! read more

This is for our poor server, Jason. Last Saturday night (well, Sunday morning really) a group of us showed up hungry and tired after a night of dancing at the Vampire's Ball. We sorta knew we were in trouble when we saw that there was only one waiter and one cook. There were people literally asleep at the table next to us waiting for their orders. It must have been awful to be working that night. The place was pretty busy, and very noisy. (I guess the group at the table behind us had partied a little too hard because they were drunk and loud). Jason did warn us of the slowness of everything from drink refills to getting our orders because of the lack of staffing (he said the pup pickles were not even likely to show up ahead of the breakfast, they'd be coming with the meal this time). We appreciated this, and went ahead and ordered. Unfortunately, even with the warning, we were not prepared for it to take just under an hour from order to food arrival. I was having problems keeping my head off the table and sleeping at this point, and was not able to even eat half my meal. I took it back to the hotel room though. So, I still love TIk Tok, but I wish the management would have sent in a temp or two to have helped out that night. read more

The Tik Tok is one of those places you'd probably never think you'd enjoy until you actually visited. It's cheap good diner-type food, and RIDICULOUS strong cocktails. There are actually a lot of reasons to visit....and it's open 24 hours! #1 Breakfast served all day, and its BIG and bomb, and they have killer pancakes. #2 Bloody Mary's at breakfast...and a glass of Tik Tok rootbeer; a surefire hangover cure. #3 Any Tik Tok drinks....their happy hour cocktails will smoke you. #4 You can sit in the diner, in the bar OR on their brand new patio which is actually very nice. Love Tik Tok. You may wonder, why the 5 stars? Perhaps you would expect it from some fancy place with tablecloths, but a diner? Well, I'll tell you, my friend. It's because the food and service were awesome, and Tik Tok accomplishes exactly what it sets out to do, which is to provide good old American comfort food 24/7. No pretentions to haute cuisine. No precious home made chutney or bacon maple martinis. They do roast their own meats, though, and make their own biscuits and pies. My breakfast the other day was awesome: Prime rib (with jus and horseradish) and eggs. The beef was cooked to my specification (medium rare) as were the eggs (over easy); big fluffy homemade biscuit. Probably the best home fries I've had in a year. This cook really knows what he's doing! Total cost (including coffee and tip): $16. That's sixteen dollars for PRIME RIB and eggs, potatoes, biscuit, and coffee. I took most of the meat home for a second meal. Now THAT's value! Service was friendly and fast. They have their own parking lot. I went on a Sunday morning and didn't have to wait for a table. What's not to like? read more

Good for soaking up the excess alcohol in your gut before you pass out on your way to hangover land. This is a good spot for late night eats, if you can stand the smoke. This is pretty much a yuck. Co-worker and i decided to try something new for lunch. Wish we hadn't. The restaurant/bar shares a parking lot with a pretty sleazy hotel but i tried not to judge the restaurant based on that. When we got inside, i started losing hope a bit. We sat at a booth... the window sill was filthy and the blinds looked like they'd been dug out of a dumpster. Whatever, i can overlook that. Even though it's hardly 70 degrees, they had the A/C on pretty high. The whole place was frigid. Also, our attempts at conversation were foiled by a really loud, high-pitched beep - the beep alerts the servers that their order's up. I'm pretty sure that every time that beep sounded, every dog in a 6-mile radius went berserk. The food is nothing special. Seriously, a monkey with one hand tied behind its back could make better food than Tik Tok's. My co-worker ordered a BLT - it was dripping grease and for, some reason, covered in powdered sugar. Huh?! The fries were a little overdone, but the waitress did offer to get us new ones. We were okay with them being done - better done than mushy. That waitress is the restaurant's only saving grace. She was genuinely sweet and helpful, very friendly. Honestly the best server i've had in a while. Unfortunately, that's not enough to make me ever return to Tik Tok's. P.S. Just had brunch, and what a surprise. The eggs Benedict was the Best I have eaten anywhere in the Western U.S. over the last 10+ years. It wasn't the usual bland sauce so many try to pass off as Hollandaise, but I could taste the lemon and mustard with being overdone. Yummy!!!! The New York cheese cake wasn't any slouch either. This is a scary diner on 82nd that has really good food. I had an open-face turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy and it was so damn good. The turkey was the real deal (not deli-sliced crap), the bread stood up to the gravy (not cheap wonderbread crap), and it came with 2 scoops of mashed potatoes served on a gigantic platter. The hubs had a burger steak and eggs and he said it was good but can't remember much more of the conversation because I was too busy stuffing my face. I like Tik Tok! Yes It is "divey" and open 24 hours a day. Yes it is on the very lively intersection of 82nd and Powell. Yes they make most of their money on video lottery and Keno. Yes, their coffee mugs are occasionally a little dirty, but the waitress always notices and gets you a clean one right away. BUT: they also have amazing cakes, cookies, brownies, and pies made in-house; a dance floor and dj; a full bar; air conditioning; affordable prices; and there is never a line or wait. Was just at Tik Tok for breakfast. The waitstaff was absolutely delightful. I spilled my coffee and accidentally flung my hot sauce across the bar (very clumsy morning!, however the bartender was gracious and very understanding and immediately cleaned up and got me more coffee. The meal was served in a huge portion and I definitely got my money's worth. Oh, no minors allowed at any time, so if you want to go with kids under 21 you'll need to find another place. What made breakfast entertaining was the "hooker watch". Given the location, people watching is stellar. The front corner booth is perfect for this. As for food I had the chicken-fried steak (it's my benchmark food for diner breakfasts). It was pretty good, the accompanying hash browns were nice and crispy on the outside and tender in the middle, pretty much perfectly cooked. Greasy in every sense. Not my go to place, but if you just want some good belly bustin' eats at 2am for cheap, this is the place. Huge portions of typical diner food and some not so typical. They have really good deep fried pickles and Tabasco wings. Plus, it's like dinner and a show. On more than one occasion, we've seen the lovely ladies of 82nd climb in a car and be dropped off again 10 minutes later. More often than not the staff here is super fast and amazingly nice (especially for what they have to deal with in this neighborhood). Food and prices are pretty generic as a diner, but they are clean and have a full bar. The waiter checked on us maybe twice once to seat us, once to take our order and had a attitude each time. But the food was good. I have always enjoyed the food here, and I'm sad to say that I will never go back. Early Saturday morning after our waitress returned from her smoke break we noticed that she had not washed her hands before she preceded to make my salad. I would like to point out that we had all witnessed her smoking outside the restaurant window. When she was asked about washing her hand she had informed us that she used hand sanitizer instead. We asked if she would consider washing her hands she said "I don't want to dry my hands out". My party decided that we would leave right away, and because of this we were asked to never return. I grew up in New York, a place known for its generous selection of diners. A rule of thumb I have developed for places with... an ambitious menu containing pages upon pages of food items (such as Tik Tok's menu) is that you REALLY need to keep it simple. Obviously, they can make whatever is on the menu, but by picking some obscure little shit they threw on there because they could, you can guarantee you won't be too excited about it. More specifically, I think of diners as breakfast or burgers only despite what their menus may suggest. If you veer too far from those areas, you'll probably be disappointed. Speaking of those two categories, I can't say I have ever had a burger here because let's be real... THEY HAVE 24 HOUR BREAKFAST. Why would I order anything else?! In fact, why would anyone order anything else?! Grab yourself some eggs and hash browns if you want to enjoy yourself, ya goober. Plus, it's great if you're hungry since the portions are large! As for the actual establishment/ambiance/environment, it's fine... because it's a diner. It's not trying to impress you or wow you. It's just trying to feed you (and maybe booze you up a bit too). I've taken a car full of drunken fools here, I've been here with an ex boyfriend after one of his late night security shifts and I've even been here by myself. I'll take this time to say I think everyone's being a little bit harsh about the sketchiness factor. I've never felt uncomfortable or unsafe or creeped out or grossed out. Sure, it's not the cleanest place ever and with any late night establishment, you'll get some interesting folks, but it's really not that bad. I can't say I've ever had crappy service here either. I wasn't getting chatted up the waitress or anything, but she did her job politely and effectively every time I've been here, so really, what else can I ask for? We sat there for another 5 minutes watching her screw around behind the counter. We overheard the cook tossing some mildly distasteful sexual harassment around in the background, asking her if shes being a naughty girl and whatnot.
