And on the seventh day, God (Buddha) created the old-school Chinese American Restaurant. Tiki Buddha is one of such creations. Let's peep it out further with some deets: My One and I were quite hangry on a Saturday morning and I suggested this joint randomly. We arrived right near opening at about 12:30 pm. A couple old people were at the bar but the joint was otherwise completely empty. Since it was just past noon I needed alcohol immediately. The drink menu was wicked mega. Tiki drinks on one full page and another page contained a HUGE list of many misspelled American libations. Such examples included, and I quote: Cutty Shark, Gine and Tonic, Perl Harbor, and many more. They had Harvey Wallbangers, Rob Roys, Stingers, and many more old-people-style cocktails. I opted for a Southern Komfort Mahattan. This cocktail was cheap and huge -two things that go great together. I clocked it back and was feeling groovy. Moey had a Mai Tai and was quite pleased. Moey and I were both very hangry by now and I might add that we did not come here to play games, we came here to eat and drink. We ordered up some 'goons to kick things off. They came out rather quickly. They were good 'goons but admittedly not great 'goons but they took care of business. Our waitress was wicked nice. I ordered the Hawaii Five-O and Moey ordered a Kustom PuPu Pladder-type thing with Wings n' Fingers and House Fried Rice with Shrimps n' Things. We also ordered a Scorpion Bowl and upgraded to 151 Rum Kicker on top for a nominal charge. This bowl was bomb sexy -delish and strong -not for wussies. This bowl put us on Cloud 9, bro. My dish was delish AF. It was giant and piping hot and contained tons of meats: Steak, Chicken, Shrimp, Pork and Lobster (a scant amount) and all appeared to be real meat too. This dish had an absolutely wonderful Yo-Yo/Boom-Boom-type sauce. It had many veggies too and more. A true delight. Moey's dish was equally pissah too. This place is the real McCoy -a true New England treasure. The vibe was fun AF and old school and we had a wicked blast. A few more old people came in and all appeared to be regulars. Bad oil, we threw everything out. Now we are all going to the bathroom with bad cramps. We ordered the Poopoo platter for 2 , shrimp egg fu young, chow me in, and friend rice. All had a partridge smell of bad oil. Eggs rolls were all mooshy and gross. DIGUSTING! Never again! I call them and after 15 minutes they said we'll give you back $25! We were on our way to the cape and needed dinner. Found this place on the "near me" in google maps. Should have done our research first because mistakes were made. We were seated in the bar/keno section instead of the dining room. No option was given to be seated elsewhere. It was soooo loud. Clearly this is the Middleboro townie bar. Lots of loud people swearing a lot. Not the best atmosphere - especially if you have kids. We sat for what felt like forever (almost 30 min for sure) for the one poor waitress to come to our table. Ordered drinks and our food all at once since we had an exorbitant amount of time to look over the menu. There was what seemed like only the one waitress and the bartender on a Friday night. The food was only meh. I've never left crab Rangoon on the plate until now. That and the chicken fingers just had no flavor. BBQ pork spare ribs were ok - still not great. It took us so long to get our food and get out of there we almost were too late to check in to our room on the cape. Next time we check reviews before entering. Had Chinese on my mind for awhile, stopped by to order for a treat. Walking in got a what do you want from the woman behind the door. Said I had to look at the menu- did so and just ordered a pu pu platter for two. Came back after the after the twenty minutes she said it would take. It was ready, took it home. Opened the bag and found a variety of standard Chinese style foods in one open paper container. Food was ok but boneless ribs which took up the bottom third of the container were just chewy, but did make good treats for the dogs for a few days. With the attitude, presentation and overall quality, I don't see going back. read more

They charged me what should have been 40 to 57$ So this meal in my picture below was on their menu with the cost of 15.85 wayyyy to chewy and drenched with sugar and the "side" of broccoli I paid 15$ for ....few old pieces of hard broccoli laying under the chicken drenched in sugar sauce. Very disappointed in the freshness and quality. Ordered a large chicken wings, hot and sour soup, small house special fried rice and a small beef and broccoli. The chicken wings were cooked hours or perhaps a day earlier and were not hot. The hot and sour soup was not hot and prepared at least a day earlier as the vegetables were soggy. The beef and broccoli wasn't hot and definitely not cooked to order, but likely heated as the broccoli was soggy. Lastly, the fried rice was also not hot and likely just heated. Been here a few times for lunch and the food portions are enormous! The food has always been good and have had no problems with service. This not a fancy Chinese place but you get decent food at a good price. The only thing is there are drunks that show up to the bar at noon and can be annoying with talking loud to each other. We have been here on a few occasions, and recently went on a weekend night as we have had before. This time we had a group of nine people that joined us. Obviously there was karaoke when we went because many in our group enjoy getting up and singing. From the time our group arrived the karaoke host was being loud and obnoxious and using very foul language while on the microphone. At one point a member of our group of nine approached the manager about his behavior and was told to go talk with him directly, which he did. That did not help. The host then later behan dancing all around the bar and right up to peoples table and eerily staring at them, at which time a second member approached him and asked him to leave them alone. After grouping a female and making sexist remarks over the microphone, he then made an announcement for everyone to watch this...at which time he proceeded behind the bar /counter area and brought the trash can to the middle of the room, sitting it on a table and said anyone with a **** complaint can put them in there. I immediately stopped eating my dinner, which I had just ordered and started eating and approached the host as well. I was joined by another customer that was sitting on the other side of the restaurant and both asked him to tone it down and refrain from the foul language. The host did not like that and made snined comments. I reminded him that he was acting very disrespectful, unprofessional and disorderly. My group and the other decided to leave and even approached the staff to intervene, but would not. Unfortunate that they endorse this type of behavior and environment. I caution anyone looking to have a nice dinner and time out with family and friends doing karaoke as long as this restaurant and its management allows these karaoke hosts to continue having have their time in the (dim) spotlight. Would not recommend this place to anyone or will be returning. Primarily for the behavior of the hosts and the lack of responsibility and management oversight of the restaurant staff. read more

This was just the worst customer service experience ever! I almost never complain about food, but this was burned. I ordered the seafood and Chinese vegetables. It tasted as if it were left on the wok to burn and then the better looking parts were served. There was even places you could see burned sauce (brown instead of rice). When I mentioned it, the waitress tried to explain that this is how things taste when cooked on a wok. Nonsense. I told her I felt bad about complaining but I couldn't eat it. They wouldn't believe me and offered to get me another meal, but kept telling me reasons this was how it was supposed to taste. I finally said that at this point I would just like to be validated - for someone to acknowledge it wasn't cooked right, or well, or some other version of burned. At least not acting like I'm lying or something crazy. They refused!!!! Heres what I think happened: I was the only customer there. It was slow, after lunch. The chef just wasn't paying attention because it was so slow and burned the food. Then, everyone just started acting defensive when I complained. (Very politely complained, in fact.) My boyfriend and I are fairly new to Middleboro and like to try out local places frequently. We've gotten food from Tiki Buddha a handful of times and it is never our first choice. First of all their combination plates are overpriced for a Chinese food place located where it is. I'm a basic Chinese food type of person...chicken fingers, crab rangoon, pork fried rice...that's not an option at Tiki Buddha. You can substitute the choices with the combination plates for $1.00 more which is cheaper than buying those three things mentioned separately; so that's what we usually do. We usually order take out, but one time we decided last minute while we were out to get food. We ordered there and sat at the bar while we waited - apparently people don't usually do this here because they seemed caught off guard when we ordered two Mai Tais. We felt awkward as if we weren't supposed to do this, and our food took way longer than usual even though the place was empty. Last night I attempted to order our usual (after realizing Chinatown - my first choice was closed), the combo plate with the substitution I have mentioned. The woman on the phone kept trying to get me to get boneless spareribs, and didn't understand why I didn't want them. After about 7 minutes she finally gets my order. She doesn't take my name or number and says "15 minutes" and hangs up. My boyfriend went to pick it up and for some reason when they asked the name and he said his name (not knowing I didn't give any kind of information because I wasn't asked and this may be concerning because they must not have had many orders...) the woman says "OH I couldn't understand anything she was saying, her phone is bad, couldn't hear her." She fails to mention that she just couldn't grasp the concept that I didn't want boneless spareribs. Anyways, the food is "meh"....my first choice would be Chinatown down the street, but if you need food last minute and don't mind paying a bit more for sub-par food - Tiki Buddha is your place. read more

I have eaten here many times, even ordered delivery 3-4 times. But one time left a bad taste in my mouth with the manager (not the owner). I ordered in time for the special pricing for lunch, but when they delivered it 45mins to 1hr later it was now just past the time cutoff for special lunch price (lower than dinner) so they charged me regular. As a customer I called in to complain, the manager that was working was a complete jerk, I told him I would never order again, he said that was fine - I was shocked. Lucky them I called the owner next day and he seemed nice and apologized, even when I went down to the location the manager that was rude laughed at me and gave me looks like I was an idiot. I would honestly say that manager should be let go - it ruins the customer experience and hurts the business. As far as food goes, it is great food, well flavored and if ordering something spicy becareful, they use some really intense spices and some of the hotest hot peppers I have ever eaten. Fried rice smelled and tasted burned. Called up and they said we should bring it back for a refund. They must have known it was burned when they sent it out but thought they'd see if we noticed. Tiki Buddha is an above average strip mall Chinese restaurant. The appetizers are awesome, always piping hot, crispy, and fresh. They really pay attention to the seasoning of things like chicken fingers and fried shrimp, instead of the flat doughy taste you seem to get at a lot of other places. Soups are bomb. strong flavor bordering on salty, but just like a good soup should be. Fried rice is ok, Lo Mein is decent too. All the chicken, beef, seafood, pork dishes I have tried have been top notch, not greasy or bland, always with a nice shiny sauce, perfectly cooked rice, and they are not shy with the vegetables. Overall I really like Tiki Buddha. Oh and by the way. The Egg Rolls. Get 2. frickin amazing. read more

I'm going to be really real here: it was slop. TL;DR -- I don't waste food, and I will eat from almost anywhere. Like, I am so down to eat the sketchiest of foods... but oh my god this just made me angry. This isn't just "fast cheap Chinese" this is legitimately gross and disgraceful. ----- Placed an order for delivery and tried to get the Dragon and Phoenix...which is on their menu...but the lady on the phone had never heard of it. I later tried to order a drink from their menu to go.... which she didn't know of either. RESTAURANT 101: KNOW YOUR MENU. So instead of dealing with an unknown dish I decided to go with the shrimp Egg Fu Yong. I think everything is cool, until it takes her TEN MINUTES to call back and tell me that there is a $15 minimum and a $5 delivery fee, so I have to add more to my order. What was she doing for ten minutes before she even rang in my order? Seriously? Then, my food doesn't arrive for another HOUR... the kraken in my stomach demanding to be fed is furious.....and the food is beyond disgusting. I hate saying that. I'm grateful to have any food, but if you are going to charge those kinds of prices for fake Chinese food it should at least be prepared well...or it should at least be prepared decently... OR YOU SHOULD AT LEAST KNOW HOW TO PREPARE IT AT ALL. The egg drop soup I ordered was flavorless and was closer to oily scrambled eggs than soup with some weird mystery ingredients at the bottom that looked like chunks of cuttlefish but had the texture of mucus. I am not kidding. The egg fu yong I had waited for was bland, and came with a giant tub of gravy so thick I could have molded a vase out of it. It was not just "fast, cheap Chinese". That, I could totally deal with. This was an overpriced disgrace. Not to mention none of their regular entrees come with rice and my takeout had no plastic ware or napkins. I mean, I know that's nit-picking, but for real? It took you an hour to NOT at least give me a damn fork? When I called back and asked to speak to a manager I was told "Oh, he's leaving." When I asked for the number of the owner they said they didn't have it, so I asked to just talk to the manager. "Oh, he's not here." Did he vanish in 3 seconds? I ask them if he is leaving or if he was never there at all and they play dumb and avoid my question. My levels of anger are through the roof at this point, so I just ask for the manager's number, which they don't have. What kind of restaurant doesn't have a manager on duty during dinner hours, or at least give their employees a way to get a hold of them? It was BS. The whole situation was infuriating and I'm just glad they bothered to give me fortune cookies, because I actually ate those. One rather warm day in August, I felt a hankering for Thai food. But being stuck in the culinary wasteland that is Middleboro, I knew I'd be out of luck; I decided to settle for Chinese. Having been completely mislead by the 4 star review above, I made the trek to Tiki Budda. I would later regret it. The restaurant is located on East Grove St. in a strip mall. The interior decor, is simple and inoffensive except the big screen TV blaring inane reality programming. I was greeted by a hostess and seated at a table. Clean tablecloth... This might not be too bad. I was the ONLY customer in the place though... My waitress was friendly; all smiles. She brought me a menu, and directed me to the lunch specials. Typical Americanized Chinese fare. I wasn't expecting any more. I settled for the General Tso's Chicken combo (w/ pork fried rice and boneless spare ribs) and a coke. My coke arrives. Fountain pour. 12 ounces or so. Nasty. It had that dirty CO2 taste like from a bar gun that hasn't been cleaned in months. As it was a hot day, I downed it quickly. It stayed empty. The waitress paid no attention. She sat at the bar chatting with the bartender. I was thirsty, but no big deal. Within 15 minutes of my order, the food arrived. I requested another coke and a pair of chopsticks. The waitress repeated my request and looked at me like I was crazy. It took her a while to find the chopsticks. They were the cheap disposable kind. I found this odd. A sit down Chinese restaurant, and no decent chopsticks? Oh, well. again, no big deal. I then asked the waitress for shiracha sauce (generally a staple hot sauce in Asian restaurants) she again looked at me like I was crazy and brought out a dish of mustard. It had been sitting out open on a shelf. Who knows how long it had sat before she brought it out. Now the real horror begins. The portion was decent-sized and looked edible, though it was served with a small dish of what looked and tasted like apple sauce. I dug into the spare ribs first. They looked dry, but dry doesn't begin to describe how BAD they were. Hard as a rock and rather foul tasting. I am not exaggerating when I say I've had beef jerky that was softer. I seriously thought I might break a tooth. The hell with the ribs, I figured, I guess I'll dig into some of this chicken. NASTY!!! General Tso's chicken is generally sweet, sure, but one should also taste garlic and chiles. Not at Tiki Budda. Nope. This stuff was just battered chicken in some kind of sickeningly sweet corn syrup sauce. I can't even begin to describe just how revolting each bite was. The chicken itself, mostly hidden by huge thick layer of batter, was of the poorest sort. Stringy, cartilage laden, nasty little cubes of chicken. I struggled not to look as if I was about to vomit. Not that my appearance mattered to my waitress. She just sat over at the bar chatting away in Chinese with the bartender, while a big screen TV blasted some reality program about fat people dancing. She never once glanced over to my table. And that sucked because Coke number two was long gone, and I really needed something to wash the foul taste out of my mouth. Finally I had to get up and holler to my waitress. Now, I've worked in restaurants, I know people have off days, and I tip really well unless I'm being neglected or antagonized. And I was totally neglected. Absolutely unacceptable. I was her only customer. She finally brings coke number three. Still nasty. Well, I figured I should just scarf down the rice and get this whole mess over with. I figured, "they can't screw up pork fried rice, right?" WRONG! My rice was old. REALLY OLD. Chewy, slimy grains of rice and rock hard little bits of what may have been pork. So nasty. And that's just the texture. The taste? Tasted like grease, cardboard and bleach. Seriously. Mostly grease and cardboard, the bleach flavor was faint, but it was there, and it shouldn't have been. Gross. The waitress, who when she wasn't ignoring me to watch fat people dance on the TV, was very friendly. She asked how my lunch was. I lied. Then the check came. Now I was really pissed. Though my lunch special was 5 or 6 bucks, I was charged 2 and change for each nasty, small coke. Really? This was fountain cola. I guess it's my bad for assuming that I would get free refills on the coke. Whatever. The sad part of the whole experience was the tip I left. When I first walked in and saw no one else in the dining room, I figured I'd leave a very generous tip. The waitress clearly was not making much money that afternoon, and what comes around goes around. But I couldn't do it. The food was nauseating and the service (while friendly) was almost non-existent. I left 20 percent and considered it a parting gift. Oh, and the best part of the whole experience? I spent the entire remainder of the day on the couch clutching my stomach. Yeah, sweet. I wouldn't be surprised if the cook hadn't washed his hands all day. Stay away from Tiki Budda. My boyfriend and I ordered from here the night we moved into our apartment because we saw the flyer and were desperate. The delivery was on time, but when we bit into our food, we knew we had made a mistake ordering from here. Each piece of chicken had a crunch like you had bitten into gristle, but it was every piece.
